Half a stone by Christmas anyone?

EasternDailyStress · 07/11/2020 13:25

I did really well over the last lockdown and lost 1.5 stone. Over the past month or so the weight's started to creep back on ...

I like to do slow and steady, so am aiming for 6/7lbs by Christmas, using a combination of MFP and being more active.

Can't exercise as such due to a foot injury at the moment.

Would anyone be up for a bit of moral support and chat?

Maybe a weekly check-in too?

I haven’t actually weighed myself yet - as I was busy avoiding it. Pretty sure I’ve put my small loss back on.
Any tips from people who are succeeding at this?

I have kept off weight loss from earlier in the year - only a couple of pounds - but that alone has made me look better in clothes. Not eating chocolate at lunchtime works for that.

Is anyone else on HRT? Does that put weight on? Any point in even trying?

Laufeythejust · 03/12/2020 19:10

@ThatsNotYourPassword I’ve no experience with it but I follow James Smith the PT online and he recommends HRT for women who want to lose weight as he says that otherwise the metabolism slows down much more- he does a lot of talks about it if you give him a google.

Winealot · 03/12/2020 19:17

Ah, it’s really tough when the weather is so rubbish and you want to comfort food.
Plus the lure of all the exciting Christmas stuff.
I find the only the way is to not give up! Easier said than done and I don’t always do this but I do eventually get results if I plough through.
Also, I weigh every day...if the scales aren’t moving it makes me more determined to get the number down and when it does eventually reduce, I don’t want to undo all my hard work.
I’m in the zone at the moment, but under no illusions it will be a rinse and repeat situation come January 😂
Interesting re hrt, I’m not on it but things are definitely changing and I’m finding it much harder to get the pounds off than I was even a year ago.

IPeedInThePool · 03/12/2020 19:20

Oooii can I come and join I’ve put so much weight on last few weeks.

My start weight last week is 12st 6lb I’ve been doing slimfast all week and it’s something I find easy to stick too and enjoy.

Off to read through the thread

@Laugheythejust

Thank you for the tip - I’ll Google him.
I know my breasts are fuller on HRT due to the oestrogen- so I wonder if there’s a general slight weight gain. I am aware my body feels younger on HRT than it would if I wasn’t

It’s probably more that I should change my expectations of the weight I can lose whilst on this. I don’t think I can be as skinny as I once was. I am around 62 kg so not exactly fat - but if it goes up higher on my smallish frame - it does show.

It has good benefits for bone and heart health - which is why I went on it.

ThatsNotYourPassword · 04/12/2020 07:27

That was for @Laufeythejust. Sorry for the misspelling

Katiepants27 · 04/12/2020 11:55

Another half a pound off this week. Clearly my body is going for the tortoise rather than hare approach....
Well at least I didn't put anything on? Half a stone by Christmas definitely not happening now but maybe I could get another couple of lbs by then.

poshme · 04/12/2020 13:05

My 2lb back on was hormonal- it's off again yay! Hoping to lose more by next week.
Must stay away from the cheese & wine.

meg70 · 09/12/2020 11:59

I've been weighing every day too, to stay on track. It's so hard especially as you get older. I'm losing 1.5 lb a week on roughly 1400 calories a day....9lbs in 6 weeks. I am happy with that but it seems so slow - but I'm going to stick at it (apart from 2 days off at Xmas when I will eat cheese!) The 'my fitness pal' app is great, if anyone hasn't tried it yet.

Winealot · 09/12/2020 19:43

I am down to 8st 13.5 so just over 2 pounds lost. This is great but having a lot of stress at the moment and not eating much. It’s certainly novel to not be constantly thinking of food!
That sounds a great rate of loss Meg70, it definitely gets so much harder the older you are.

Laufeythejust · 11/12/2020 07:52

Ooops I keep forgetting to do this on a Wednesday. I’m down to 11 stone 3 now so another half a pound off. Mince pies and Christmas cake are now everywhere and yesterday I had a Yorkshire pudding wrap so definitely don’t deserve more than half a pound! Probably won’t make half a stone by Christmas but if I carry on with half a pound a week it’ll be 5lbs which I’ll be happy enough with.

Tomcullenisahero · 11/12/2020 12:03

I weighed myself yesterday and I lost the 2lbs that I put on last week, talk about yo yo dieting lol. I feel more motivated now though and keep a pad and pen by my desk and write everything I eat which I think is helping me

Tomcullenisahero · 11/12/2020 12:15

Although I'm now a little down hearted at thinking I've only lost 2 measley pounds since 14th November☹️
I suppose at least that's two off instead of two more on

FatGirlShrinking · 11/12/2020 12:20

@Tomcullenisahero go and pick up 2 bags of sugar or flour from your kitchen cupboard, then imagine whereabouts that was on your body before you lost it.

2lb is an achievement!

Tomcullenisahero · 11/12/2020 13:38

Thank you, it's still in the right direction so I shouldn't complain. I imagine the weight in terms of a pound of sausages, it makes even half a pound quite impressive.
Good luck to the rest of you all

ThatsNotYourPassword · 11/12/2020 13:47

Think I’ve also lost 2lb since about 24 November too - my weight has fluctuated a bit in recent weeks.
On plus side, I think I have more understanding of what puts my weight up and down. I’m also snacking on fruit rather than biscuits/ cake. So I’m trying not to worry, and just see this as a long term goal.

poshme · 11/12/2020 16:56

Very pleased- another lb down.

Now must be good over the weekend and not eat too much or drink too much wine.

Sigh.

ThatsNotYourPassword · 11/12/2020 18:15

Me too!

Winealot · 16/12/2020 15:09

8st 11 this morning, the weight seems to be dropping off. Sadly due to a very stressful situation, so I am not eating much.

I wish that I could go back a few weeks and just be worrying about why I couldn’t seem to get below 9st 5!!!

Hope everyone is doing ok

Laufeythejust · 16/12/2020 15:53

Hope you are ok @Winealot Flowers

I’m a pound down this week so 11 stone 2 now. 5lbs lighter and feeling better for it. The Christmas food is definitely not helping!

Tomcullenisahero · 17/12/2020 10:21

Winealot, I hope you are alright.

ThatsNotYourPassword · 17/12/2020 11:21

Also hope you are ok, Winealot.

Think I’m down another pound overall, if I could resist wine at the weekend this would all be moving faster.

Tomcullenisahero · 17/12/2020 11:33

I meant to say that I lost 2 pounds! I hope I keep them off this week! No more to yo yoing!

FatGirlShrinking · 17/12/2020 20:30

Well I've done my 7lb loss in December so pleased with that.

2lb off this week, 7lb for the month so far, total of 48lb loss so far since 1st August 2020.

ThatsNotYourPassword · 18/12/2020 07:24

Well done!!
How have you managed to be so successful? Any tips? @FatGirlShrinking.
