Half a stone by Christmas anyone?

EasternDailyStress · 07/11/2020 13:25

I did really well over the last lockdown and lost 1.5 stone. Over the past month or so the weight's started to creep back on ...

I like to do slow and steady, so am aiming for 6/7lbs by Christmas, using a combination of MFP and being more active.

Can't exercise as such due to a foot injury at the moment.

Would anyone be up for a bit of moral support and chat?

Maybe a weekly check-in too?

Weighed myself this morning and it's 2lb heavier than I thought I was, 12st 6.5, so that's really focused my mind. I feel like if I allow myself to go over 12st7 I'm nearly 13st and that sounds like a long way back!

Yesterday was a fairly good day, 16k steps but a few snacks were eaten. Today I'm trying to do better as my husband wants pizza delivered tonight so am saving a few calories for that. So far, just 3 back coffees consumed. Plan for today is leftover veggies for lunch, and pizza tonight

ilovecharlie · 13/11/2020 10:41

@foodtoorder 1lb off, well done.

I was good yesterday and plan to be good again today.

I will be going out for a dog walk once the rain has stopped.

Have a good day everyone.

ilovecharlie · 13/11/2020 10:44

@muddledmidget 16k steps is awesome. You have reminded me that I have a Fitbit lurking somewhere gathering dust. I'm going to charge it up and see if it still works.

Laufeythejust · 13/11/2020 11:05

Wow 16k steps! I really need to get my steps up- working from home makes it really hard to get the steps in (I also need to stop making excuses!).

I’ve had Greek yoghurt, chia seeds, protein powder and berries for breakfast. I allow myself a few extra calories on a Friday so I’m considering either a subway for lunch or a mini pot of haagan Dazs later! Maybe the ice cream will be good motivation to workout as I feel beaten up from yesterday’s session!

Winealot · 13/11/2020 19:25

Ooh good, there’s a few of us! Had a good week food wise and quite a lot of exercise but the real test is always the weekend.
Want to stuff my face and drink loads of wine, but I want to be able to enjoy Christmas without feeling guilty!

TotoroPotoro · 13/11/2020 19:32

Please can I join? I'm 5'7" and 11st 13lb. I started the year at this weight and was determined to lose half a stone. I have a lovely figure at 11st 6lbs, curvy in the right places.

I'm still 11st 13lb eleven months later, which I guess is better than being heavier. I lost loads when I had covid but put it back on gorging on easter eggs to test if my sense if taste had come back Blush

I've cut back on the booze, and aim walking loads each day. I eat good food, just too much of it. I'm going to try 5:2

I'd like to get to 11st 9lbs by Christmas, which is 4lb weight loss

RedskyAtnight · 13/11/2020 20:08

Me too please? Have put on far too much weight since 1st lockdown and really need to shift it. Half a stone by Christmas doesn't sound to frightening. I actually eat sensible healthy meals, just need to cut down all the snacking (boredom eating) between times.

I got into a good routine of doing an exercise video every day in 1st lockdown, but have shamefully got out of the habit, so definitely want to restart that.

Lovelymonkeyninetynine · 13/11/2020 20:10

Me! I keep putting off losing a few pounds or I start but by 2pm all bets are off. I had great success with 16:8 in first lockdown but I've fallen into old habits.
I have the same downfalls as prev pps: wine, biscuits, takeaways. Life is so boring at the moment I think I use food and booze to cheer me up too much!

foodtoorder · 13/11/2020 22:00

Just checking in with my meals for accountability-

Breakfast- tea
Lunch- halloumi, white cabbage and Mayo (coleslaw) avocado
Yea-!courgette, spring onion and mushroom omelette (2eggs)
Some walnuts

StarcourtMall · 14/11/2020 09:28

I managed to stick to the 5:2 this week and had 3 alcohol free days and the scales say I lost 2lb! That’s great considering I drank way too much wine last night. Will try and go for a run later when my hangover has subsided a bit!

poshme · 14/11/2020 09:32

Ooh can I join? Half a stone by Christmas is exactly my aim.

Need to lose a stone in total, but trying to be realistic.

Must drink less wine, and snacks are my downfall, along with cheeses.

WFH means my steps are very low.

Going to do 16:8 again and cut out wine.

Scarby9 · 14/11/2020 09:44

Me too.

I lost a stone in lockdown by eating two good meals a day, only snacking occasionally on fruit and nuts and walking or cycling every day.

When we were allowed to meet others again, I added in treat food with them - flat white, cappuccino, scone or slice of cake - and continued the daily exercise. I maintained my weight.

Since September, fully back at work in person and with dark mornings and nights, I am only exercising at weekends but also eating cake or chocolate every day and mostly also a cappuccino from the machine at work (which I suspect is also sweetened).

As a result, I am now 4 pounds heavier and I need to act now rather than letting it all slip away. I would like to lose about half a stone, but even just the 4 pounds would be a start.

I pledge to (mostly) only eat unnecessary treat stuff at weekends and to find some 30 minute indoor exercise I can do through winter.

Laufeythejust · 14/11/2020 12:27

Weighed myself this morning and have lost 1lb, 12 stone 6- the next 1lb will put me in a healthy BMI which will be amazing.

Had a chilled out morning with a bacon and egg sandwich followed by a banana. It’ll be a protein shake snack then fillet steak, loads of veg and new potatoes for tea.

Rest day today thank god! I did my weights yesterday then tried to do a run (I have never ran outside in my life). Managed 2k but then felt like I was going to lose a lung!

Laufeythejust · 14/11/2020 12:29

Oops I meant to say 11 stone 6!

Winealot · 14/11/2020 13:04

Is anyone up for having a weekly weigh in to see how we are all doing?
I am a daily weigher...so I’m happy to do this any day of the week.
Will go with the majority 😀

ilovecharlie · 14/11/2020 14:03

@Winealot I'm up for a weekly weigh in. Don't mind which day, I've been weighing daily. Grin

CornflakeMum · 14/11/2020 14:11

oh yes please, can I join too.

Have put on about 4lb since March and peaked at 11st 3lb which is the heaviest I've ever been and at 5ft 6 tipped me into the overweight category for the first time.

Just this week I've cut back on the snacks (crisps are my absolute downfall Sad ) and started trying to exercise at least 3-4 times a week.
I'm down to 11 st 1lb and am using my fitbit for inspiration and tracking.

Tomcullenisahero · 14/11/2020 14:23

I'd like to join too please. I need motivation and a weekly weigh in to keep me on track!
My weight is creeping up slowly but I'm at the point now were my clothes are getting tight and uncomfortable.
My weight this morning is 10st 2lbs.

ilovecharlie · 14/11/2020 15:47

Hello to the new joiners. Good luck.

foodtoorder · 14/11/2020 15:58

Yes let's get a weekly weigh in going.
Have had a good food day today so far although zero activity.
Let's keep up the momentum!

Winealot · 14/11/2020 17:58

Shall we say a Wednesday for a weigh in? Enough time to work off any weekend overindulgence 😂.

ilovecharlie · 14/11/2020 18:02

@Winealot yes Wednesday weigh in sounds good to me. That should give me enough time to work off the Cadbury selection pack that I just wound down in its entirety. What is wrong with me? Grin

EasternDailyStress · 14/11/2020 18:08

To those who have asked about the podcast, they are all standalone conversations, but I think Tim Spector was on the very first one, as well as the most recent. I tend to just search through until I find one that's interesting to me.

The Amelia Freer one is good too. And Sachin Panda.

Liking the sound of a Wednesday weigh in, great idea.

IHaveAGreyLamp · 15/11/2020 10:22

Wednesday weigh in sounds good. I definitely need to drop half a stone by Xmas or I won’t be able to fit into my nice Christmas clothes and I am not buying any more new clothes because I can’t loose weight and keep stuffing my face!

Currently 13 stone 1 pound
