Half a stone by Christmas anyone?

EasternDailyStress · 07/11/2020 13:25

I did really well over the last lockdown and lost 1.5 stone. Over the past month or so the weight's started to creep back on ...

I like to do slow and steady, so am aiming for 6/7lbs by Christmas, using a combination of MFP and being more active.

Can't exercise as such due to a foot injury at the moment.

Would anyone be up for a bit of moral support and chat?

Maybe a weekly check-in too?

Wednesday weigh in sounds good to me. I'm doing 5:2 and today is my first 800cal day.

shinynewapple2020 · 15/11/2020 12:24

I lost around 12 lb at the beginning of this year on slimming world; got down to 10st 4lb and was still in 'the zone'.

Then Covid happened, I'm WFH and living on toast, chips with everything, wine every day etc and can't seem to pull myself back .

Weighed myself the other day and I'm 11st 9lb. I've never been this heavy, even after giving birth (19 years ago). I'm 5ft 3in.

In the past I've lost weight variously doing slimming world , weight watchers. And calorie counting .

I'm a bit of a carb monster and need to cut down here to lose weight but could never do low carb . Or any form of intermittent fasting .

I look like a little barrel Sad

How's everyone doing? I'm back in it. I think I sometimes get a bit 'woe is me' before a diet and imagine I won't be able to have anything nice to cheer myself up, but I've remembered that by making smart swaps you can still have decent meals and (small amounts!) of booze.

Tomcullenisahero · 15/11/2020 18:39

It's great to know we're all getting weighed on the same day! We'll all have the dread on Wednesday morning together lol.
My weekend hasn't been great but I dug out my old slimming world books so I'm going to try to stick to that as it worked for me in the past. I was going to re join but I'll just put that money away every week that would normally go to slimming world and then I can treat myself when I get to my target weight.

EasternDailyStress · 15/11/2020 18:43

I've not been very strict this weekend so hoping to be back on track by Wednesday! I find that having an evening where I drink/eat crisps usually ensures that I stay on the wagon the rest of the week, but this weekend I haven't jumped back on as quickly as I should.

Good luck for the new week everybody.

Evening all, sounds like a mixed bag of prepping to get int he zone and finding it hard over the weekend?
What is it about the weekends that makes yummy food so much more enjoyable?

I have def stuck to my plan and it's ok-ish. I have 3 long days of work ahead so I know I can stick to it on these days and that should bode well for Wednesday weigh in.
I find my days off a struggle unless I have a clear plan and the food is in the fridge and prepped.

Has anyone had anything nice for tea?
Today I have had
Breakfast- tea
Lunch- courgette, mushroom and bacon omelette.
Tea- steak and cauliflower rice

Just having a Diet Coke to see me through the evening.

Winealot · 15/11/2020 20:22

I’ve had an ok-ish weekend, am tracking on MFP and I do incorporate some weekend treats and am stricter during the week.
I also exercise a lot....mainly so I can eat and drink more!
Need to get in a couple of low days in the hope that by Wednesday I see a drop on the scales 🤞
All very tedious but needs must!

StarcourtMall · 15/11/2020 20:40

I did go for a run yesterday and had a smoothie for lunch, but then had more wine in the evening. I’ve resisted the wine tonight though, so that’s one alcohol free day in the bag! It’s a fasting day tomorrow so I’ll probably have a banana about midday and an omelette in the evening. I might treat myself to a hot chocolate before bed tonight.

Peacocking · 15/11/2020 20:58

I'm in! Currently 146.5lb, 5ft 7. I've lost about 2 stone since July and need about another 10 or 12lb off. I've got a rowing machine that I'm using for 70 minutes a day doing 1500 strokes on the highest setting (I know this is NOT how the pro rowers set targets or row but it really works for me 😁 probably as I use it as an excuse to binge watch Netflix while rowing), and aim to do 140 minutes a couple of times a week. I eat a vegan diet, which is hard as so many companies have brought out the most amazing vegan junk food out now and I feel obliged to try it all!

Flabbymcnally · 15/11/2020 22:00

Can I join!
I lost 3 stone and then put 14 pounds on during lockdown and have lost 7-keeping up?!
I really want to be back at my target weight by Christmas but can’t seem to focus.
I’m going to start running again this week, and eating really healthily. I was 11.3 last Monday and the weekend has been indulgent so we shall see what happens on Wednesday.

Winealot · 16/11/2020 17:16

How is everyone’s Monday going? Food and exercise good for me today...the week always starts so well and goes downhill as it goes on!!

muddledmidget · 16/11/2020 17:16

Hi, Wednesday weigh in sound good to me. Weekend was a mixed bag, plenty of exercise but quite a lot of pizza and chocolate featured.

Today I've completed week 3 of couch to 5k and have only eaten a ciabatta with brie and cranberry. It's sausage, mash and veg for dinner, and no wine or chocolate! Weighed in at 12st5 today so am hoping for 11st4.5 on Wednesday to at least take me back to where I thought I was when I started

shinynewapple2020 · 16/11/2020 17:27

I am quite pleased that yesterday and today I've managed to be a bit more mindful of my eating so although not exactly 'diet food' I have eaten one piece of toast instead of two and had a big portion of veg with my tea yesterday instead of massive portion of potato and small portion of veg . Small steps but so far so good .

Tomcullenisahero · 16/11/2020 18:36

@shinynewapple2020 that's how today and yesterday went for me too. While not exactly eating the right things I've been eating less. I'm planning to try to stick to the Slimming world plan tomorrow. I always think the first day is the hardest, trying to break bad habits.

Peacocking · 16/11/2020 23:59

Eaten fairly well today, 70 minutes on the rowing machine (while watching Orphan Black - awesome series!). Managed to do 2.5 hours rowing yesterday, two sessions in one day for the first time ever. I'll try to do that twice a week if I can manage it, while I'm trying to get this weight off.

Winealot · 18/11/2020 06:54

Omg, not a great start at all.
I have put ON!! 9st 6.75.
I don’t know what to do.....am drinking 3 litres of water per day, exercising....running 40k a week plus hiit in between.
But, I am knocking on the door of 50 and I’m pretty sure I’m perimenopausal as my periods are all over the place.
I am (TMI) bunged up so that could may be account for a bit??. Clutching at straws here 😂.
Also, not muscle gain before anyone suggests it....my clothes are tight!
Am definitely in a calorie deficit.
Sorry guys for the woah is me negative post.
Good luck everyone else

Tomcullenisahero · 18/11/2020 07:23

Aww sorry to hear you did lose after such an effort. Maybe you'll get a huge loss next week. Fingers crossed for you for next week.
I lost 2lbs so far. I'm glad I'm going in the right direction, this thread has given me a bit of motivation. Good luck all

TotoroPotoro · 18/11/2020 07:26

On no @Winealot, how much of a gain? Keep going though, the things you're doing are great and will certainly be keeping you fit and healthy.

I've lost 2lbs this week, which am really pleased about as I never lose anything! I'm basically just eating 800cal every other day, walking 10,000 steps a day and laying off the booze.

RedskyAtnight · 18/11/2020 08:59

Aww, that's disappointing Winealot, but remember body weight does fluctuate naturally anyway. Sure you will see the impact of your hard work next week.

Well done Totoro - great result!

I only started on Monday (family birthday over the weekend, lots of cake about) so weighed in this morning. My weight was 1lb down on Monday, but I know that 's "normal" for me, so not reading too much into it. Have managed to stop snacking (for 2 days, get me), but still to embark on the exercise videos (Bakeoff distracted me last night). Maybe tonight ....

RedskyAtnight · 18/11/2020 09:00

And well done *Tomcullen" as well - sorry, managed to miss your post!

muddledmidget · 18/11/2020 09:03

12st5 for me today, which is a loss of 1.5lb from my starting weight. Haven't really done anything all that different, but just been a little bit more aware of when I'm eating and how much I'm eating

foodtoorder · 18/11/2020 10:08

Just weighing in, 3lb loss for me, only started last Thursday though so not bad for not quite a whole week. Must keep up the effort!

Sorry to hear you have gained @winealot all your exercise puts me to shame. Do you lift weights? Could it me muscle gain?

Laufeythejust · 18/11/2020 10:16

Sorry to hear that @Winealot but it sounds like it could be water retention/ bloat. Like redatsky said hopefully you’ll have a bigger drop next week to make up for it. I find sometimes I put on or stay the same for over a week then lose a lot at once.

Well done @TotoroPotoro @muddledmidget @Tomcullenisahero and @foodtoorder

I’ve just stepped on the scales and I’m now 11 stone 5.5 so I’ve lost a pound and a half this week. Still struggling with the closure of the gyms I just can’t get the same motivation at home- I normally do 15 mins cross trainer, about 45/60 mins of weights and then 15 minutes HIIT and I’m struggling to manage 45 mins in the garage. I really hope the numbers drop so gyms can open again soon.

ThatsNotYourPassword · 18/11/2020 10:16

Can I join? I’d love to lose half a stone - would make all the difference.
It’s wine that keeps the weight on me - I lose a little every week and put it back on at the weekend!
Weight is currently 61.4kg - 135 lb.
Would like to get to 126lb
Good luck everyone!

Winealot · 18/11/2020 11:01

Thanks everyone and well done on your losses.
I have no idea what’s going on, It wasn’t that long ago I could drop 5 or 6 pounds in about 3 weeks with cutting down and exercising.
My weight has been bouncing up and down a couple of pounds for the last 10 days...I would normally see some progress!
Trying not to feel too despondent, but am panicking a bit I have to admit 😩
