Right here's the new thread. Thought I would find a kind title as October has been a challenging month for so many and at the risk of sounding pessimistic, November is likely to be to. I'm starting at 9st2.75, my aim for the end of November is to get into the 8s.

Morning, feeling more positive today. Have weighed in this morning at a happy maintenance target. We walked to the post office this morning - very cold! We're still walking most evenings too.

IDontMindMarmite · 26/11/2020 09:07

B: Porridge
L: Ham and Pearl Barley soup
D: Favourite risotto
That's only 850 calories so snacks will be whatever i want to top it up to 1500!

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 26/11/2020 15:13

Yummy menu Idontmindmarmite for v little!! Soup is the way to go really isn't it? Do you modify the risotto or just have a reasonable portion?

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 26/11/2020 15:27

PS my healthy lifestyle journal arrived! It's lovely. Having a mahoosive bowl of carrot and chickpea soup here ahead of longish walk with friend at 4pm. Weekend feeling on the way!

IDontMindMarmite · 26/11/2020 18:14

I use pearl barley instead of rice and its a very generous portion! PB swells up a lot so you could easily do less of it but i like volume Grin No meat in it but very flavoursome. And the soup is amazingly tasty and filling.

TheHoneyBadger · 26/11/2020 18:41

I found Pearl barley stodgy when I tried it (added to a stew) is there a way to cook it so it has a bite and isn't so slimy/glutinous?

I'm still here getting fatter by the day and pinning my hopes on getting back into the game when gyms reopen

IDontMindMarmite · 26/11/2020 21:02

I don't do anything special so I guess I just like the texture, I get that it could be love or hate though. I don't think there's much in it calorie/nutrient wise compared to rice so I wouldn't try too hard to like it if you don't.

IDontMindMarmite · 26/11/2020 21:21

I've never thought that I could run at all, (i even failed to move past week 2 or 3 of couch to 5 k) but someone directed me to this video and it looks quite interesting,

While we're waiting for the gyms to reopen...

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 26/11/2020 21:32

Thanks Idontmindmarmite, I will look. I am heading to Week 6 of C25K this week, tho I just bash away at it in my own times, usually 3 weeks to do a week and I'm fine with that. I'm surprised pearl barley not different cal wise as you got such decent meals in for such few cals earlier. I'm finishing for the day with a few hundred cals to spare and all goals kept, thank god as I was going off piste too often. Night nighy, nearly Friday Smile

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 26/11/2020 21:36

It's weird because I'm pretty sure that C25K actually says to land on heel which I always found felt a bit odd. Definitely giving this a go!

TheHoneyBadger · 26/11/2020 22:26

That looks more my pace. I need to try it when there is no one around to see me.

I'm having trouble with my knee at the minute but that looks pretty gentle.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 27/11/2020 07:13

I'm 1.5lbs down since yesterday, I'm amazing Grin 8st 12.25. Happy Friday all.
Goals:2.5L water, 10k steps and bed by 10.30. Feel headache, as if I didn't get water yesterday which is a pain.. Leaving you a motivational pic Wink

Nourishing November
IDontMindMarmite · 27/11/2020 07:34

I was thinking the same! Don't want people to see me shuffling along Grin

Wow HeyGirl, lovely drop there..

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 27/11/2020 07:36

Well it wasn't a real gain just the heavy Chinese I'm sure hence my tongue and cheek comment. I'll log today's food for accountability.
B: banana, mandarin, Greek yoghurt and almonds
L: roast veg and pesto mayo
D: burger and homemade chips, no bun
S: apple

Octopus37 · 27/11/2020 07:40

9st1.25 here today, have just eaten a pop tart for breakfast. I've got a cold hoping it isn't anything else. TBH think my focus will be on trying to maintain between now and the end of the year, would be very pleased with that as I very rarely dont gain over Christmas. Haven't really got any inclination to eat healthily at the moment so will just aim for that. Happy (Black) Friday everyone

IDontMindMarmite · 27/11/2020 08:33

If it turns out that i've maintained come January it'll be a Christmas miracle.

NellietheNumpty · 27/11/2020 09:18

Can I join ? I am starting in earnest in December but wanted to ease in. I started 2020 well but then have had a brutal year: DV, lost job.... 1st November I got a new job and a settler place to live. As you can imagine I haven’t been focused until now.
I weigh 70.7kg and am pleased it isn’t more. However, it isn’t where I want it to be either.

IDontMindMarmite · 27/11/2020 09:46

Welcome Nellie! I started off at 73kg myself. Well done for getting through a hellish year! If you don't mind my asking, what's your goal and how are you planning on losing weight?

NellietheNumpty · 27/11/2020 10:30

To be honest I haven’t got a clue! I am going to read through the thread and get some ideas @IDontMindMarmite
As I posted in another thread I have started a new job which involves quite a long commute. It is a physical job, think working with young offenders, and demanding. I need to leave the house around 6.30am and finish my shift at 4.30pm and am starving. So I have put on weight since starting because I am eating a huge snack as I get home and an evening meal.
I guess I would like to loose a stone, I have no particular date or method in mind. I have had a goal plan: home, job and then diet. I am surprised and delighted to have made it this far.

TheHoneyBadger · 27/11/2020 10:40

I'm so far off the wagon it's ridiculous but checking in. I daren't get on the scales and see how much weight I've regained. Yesterday was biscuits and crisps and all sorts of crap and lager. Not pretty!

NellietheNumpty · 27/11/2020 10:47

Glad to meet you @TheHoneyBadger. This year I have found that sometimes it is just the best you can do to survive the day. You survived yesterday, it wasn’t pretty but it is done.
I am glad you are checking in.

TheHoneyBadger · 27/11/2020 10:56

Thanks Nellie. I did great in the first lockdown but have struggled since going back to work but was maintaining at least then work stress went crazy and the gyms closed and I have struggled to focus on weight loss and very much just surviving each day and staying sane.

Welcome to the thread.

Hangoverstruggles · 27/11/2020 22:22

Evening all!

Just checking in. Struggling a bit to exercise as life just seems so hectic at the moment! I start work at 7am, go straight to school pick up and we get in the door at 4:30, then it's family madness until 8pm by which point I'm knackered, and the cold & dark aren't enticing me out for a run like in the spring / summer 😩

Diet wise, hit & miss, but probably coming out around maintenance - just not great choices!

Period started today so not weighed.

B two mince pies at work, coffees
L weetabix & berries
D tasty mince rice
S another mince pie 😳, crisps, few cups of tea

Octopus37 · 28/11/2020 07:45

Welcome Nellie. Sounds as if you have had a terrible year, massive well done on getting through it.

Didn't have a good day yesterday, was absolutely starving, think its partly cause of the weather. Ate Dominos last night so was 9st3.5 this morning, know from experience that Dominos puts a pound or two on overnight. Better day today.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 28/11/2020 08:19

Welcome Nellie! I had a good day yesterday, 20k steps but some dark chocolate covered nuts last night, not going to worry about that with those steps but anyway no move on scales. Please pray that I will write at least 800 words today, thank you!
Goals: 800 words, 3L water, 8k steps prob most realistic
B: berries and Greek yoghurt
L: omelette and salad
D: who knows
Have a good day all. Octopus hope domino's was good, I used to be a pizza fan but a bit underwhelmed these days, they don't seem to fill me so I keep mindlessly eating.
