Right here's the new thread. Thought I would find a kind title as October has been a challenging month for so many and at the risk of sounding pessimistic, November is likely to be to. I'm starting at 9st2.75, my aim for the end of November is to get into the 8s.

Shockingly I haven't gained from my weekend which is awesome. Back to the grindstone!

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 02/11/2020 08:36

Well I'm 9stone on the button.. Very hard not to be annoyed with myself.. I was 9st7.5 just over 3 weeks ago.. And 9 10.5 just over a week ago so I need to sort it out now. HB you have a lot of options already in your head. I much prefer the uphill outdoor but I know we all have our preferences. Going to eat now and will run around 10.30/11. Have to stay home due to being a close contact so one whole day to myself!! Have a good day all and drink your water!

Newbeginningsnow · 02/11/2020 09:18

1lb off for me in total since last week when I joined you. Not great but I know that scientifically based on what I’m eating that’s how much I should be losing.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 02/11/2020 09:29

Well done, that's a lovely weekly loss I found.

To be more positive on my gain I see i have walked 40k steps in last three days and burned 6400 cals. So I'm OK right track, need to keep going. Have upped my activity aims ony tracker.

Monochrome4 · 02/11/2020 09:48

Morning all, checking in today. 63.1kg this morning which I'm happy with. I allowed myself a wardrobe session to assess my progress. I can get into all my lovely old favourites again, but most of them look too tight, which is as expected considering my goal is still 3kg away. I'm looking forward to doing a big clothes sort-out once I'm slimmer. The question is, will I be brave enough to get rid of the bigger clothes, or will they just go in the boxes that are currently holding my smaller clothes?

SistemaAddict · 02/11/2020 10:41

@Monochrome4 could you have them taken in if you still really like them?

I enjoyed the school hike this morning but was hungry before I'd even got there. Yogurt and muesli wasn't enough it seems. I've just made a cup of tea and am debating an early lunch.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 02/11/2020 10:58

Add some fruit to your muesli Sistema? That's great monochrome, personally I would ditch unless they are beloved and you want to alter them.

I am adoring being ar home solo for once. I am making ratatouille, carrot and chickpea soup and beetroot hummus. Roast dinner is already prepped. Feels good. Off for run v soon. Water intake going well.

Monochrome4 · 02/11/2020 11:54

@SistemaAddict Good idea! I ought to be able to do that kind of thing myself. I think I will use it as an excuse to ditch things I'm not that keen on, but anything I really like I can try and alter.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 02/11/2020 12:31

Honeybadger I wonder could you give me any info looking at this heart rate record? I thought peak was a good thing but going by your post it's maybe not. Also I would have thought fat burn was good but the walk that shows this was a ramble throithe woods so I think cardio better than that? Hope I'm on the right track. Thanks for any insight.

Try adding protein powder to your diet. DH find that having a smoothie with breakfast invoicing protein powder eliminated his need for a mid morning snack.

I have no idea about heart stuff so am looking to learn from you guys!

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 02/11/2020 13:56

I have wondered about protein powder Idontmindmarmite, I can never reach my recommended amount even with day Greek yoghurt at breakfast, hallloumi and meat during the day and often nuts and seeds. Unless I was to greatly up my portions. But I don't think a dietitian say, would suggest it, would they? Or maybe it's OK.

IDontMindMarmite · 02/11/2020 14:02

I have no idea what a dietitian would say! I don't know any to ask either but it's an interesting question. All I know is that he found that it helped fill him up as he just wants Shreddies for breakfast which isn't going to fill anyone up for long IMO.

IDontMindMarmite · 02/11/2020 14:21

Having done a brief google, the upshot seems to be that protein powder is a highly processed way of getting protein and won't fix a bad diet. But as a supplement, it doesn't seem that anyone's very against it unless you get a really sugary type in which case the calories make it unhealthy. I will say to DH that he can get the same amount of protein if he just has a yoghurt but I doubt he'll change his morning smoothie for it. He is a stubborn bugger though.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 02/11/2020 15:12

Ah, thank you! I'm down on my tracker is 100g protein a day. I've come within touching distance only once even though I take protein with every meal!!

IDontMindMarmite · 02/11/2020 15:35

I never check my nutrients tbh but a brief look on mfp shows me that i struggle to come close most days

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 02/11/2020 15:39

OK. Mine on Lose it are v simply divided into carbs, fats and protein. Going by TDEE calculator on high carb I should be getting 100g protein but like I say I never hit it.

everycowandagain · 02/11/2020 15:42

Checking in! Hopefully this won't be my only post this month like it was last month.

Hope everyone is hanging in there.

IDontMindMarmite · 02/11/2020 15:49

Oh lawd, according to the TDEE calculator my protein goal should be 142g! That's hilarious. MFP says my protein goal is 70g and I miss that by a wide margin most of the time.

I quite like how you only stop by every now and again @everycowandagain Grin but please do, come by some more Smile

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 02/11/2020 15:54

Oh isn't that interesting Idontmindmarmite, that makes me feel better Grin Right better get moving here, dc home soon. I have thoroughly enjoyed my solo day.

Monochrome4 · 02/11/2020 16:57

That's interesting re protein goals! My husband (who is not a nutritionist but is a doctor) has told me that we don't actually need that much protein in our diet, and that the only people who need to supplement are professional athletes. Protein is very good at filling us up so it's a useful diet food if it helps you to reduce calories without feeling hungry, but other than that I don't think any of us need to actually aim for high levels of protein in our diet.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 02/11/2020 17:48

Ah very interesting and that's what I thought really. Brill.

TheHoneyBadger · 02/11/2020 17:55

Just lost a post. Not loving the app.

Peak is good and being able to run that long at peak shows good cv fitness (disclaimer I'm no exercise or fitness expert).

I'm over 11000 steps and have burned 2300 calories already between running around at work and going to the gym so a good start on getting back on the wagon at least.

Wondering whether to brave the scales in the morning.

TheHoneyBadger · 02/11/2020 17:59

I come nowhere near to protein levels fitness people recommend. I remember trying once and just being unable to comprehend how to get that level in unless I sat around eating steak and eggs every hour.

TheHoneyBadger · 02/11/2020 18:03

No idea why that says 0.46mi. I did over 4 km uphill over about 50 mins with warm up and cool down. Middle section was peak with cardio either side and fat burn at the outer limit itms.

TheHoneyBadger · 02/11/2020 19:36

Lots of adverts to scroll past but that's quite useful heygirl. Allegedly my max heart rate is 176 but today for example the highest I exercised at was 160. I'm not fit enough yet to cope with a higher level of intensity. You are likely much fitter as apart from anything else I think you're much lighter than me.
