Shorties trying to lose weight!

SwimmingOnEggshells · 29/09/2020 12:02

I started my fatbusting journey a couple of weeks ago and my plan is to document my progress here.

So far I've been doing a fair bit of cardio - 5 times per week - and I'm hoping this will help me get rid of some lbs. I posted a thread on AIBU looking for people's advice on only using exercise to lose weight but the general consensus is that no, I need to calorie restrict too. Boo! is what I say to that but maybe I need to face facts that I'm no longer a spring chicken and need to make a concerted effort with food too to shed anything!

Anyone want to join me?! @neverenoughchelseaboots

Current weight: 60kg/132lbs
Target: 50kg/110lbs

Yep. Had two weeks without anything shifting now. I did slack off a bit last week (though did keep exercising) but have been super disciplined this week. I think it's hormonal too.

neverenoughchelseaboots · 14/10/2020 13:07

I think it's hard to see a direct payoff from increased exercise. It's definitely not as linear as dieting.

Do you at least feel fitter and better for it @Beroltheperil ?

Beroltheperil · 14/10/2020 20:52

Hi @neverenoughchelseaboots yes I do feel much better in my mood and energy levels generally. I can see the loss on my top half and I feel more comfortable in my clothes. I have worked hard on the dieting as well as the exercise, just need to keep going!

SwimmingOnEggshells · 14/10/2020 21:15

Keep at it @Beroltheperil, you're going great!
Struggling here, all this lockdown talk has me feeling like a slug.

Ugh, I've hit a slump too. The job interview prep derailed the exercise and then I had a ton of wine because I felt I'd earned it. And then I ate a massive cheese board because I'd had wine.

The problem is when you're losing the weight so slowly that a couple of bad days and the damage wipes out weeks of good work. Sad

Angrymum5 · 15/10/2020 19:29

I’m in too! I really need to lose the face fat and the pot belly! Wink

Weight: 64kg
Height: 156 Sad
Target: 60kg
Age: 31

LittleLapwing · 15/10/2020 21:33

I’m back :)
Hope we’re still going!

I’ve had an emotional few days for one reason and another, so obviously I’ve just troughed on food. And now I’m 4lbs heavier I feel sooo much better Hmm

Back on it properly now though!!!! Tomorrow at work we are having a curry and chips for lunch which I can’t get out of, but I’ll have a cup of tea and an apple for breakfast, and cereal for tea!

neverenoughchelseaboots · 16/10/2020 07:47

Hey @Angrymum5 - welcome

Sounds like quite a few of us have had a bad week @LittleLapwing. Glad to hear you're back on it. Me too - had a weak week but that's because situation messed up my week and threw me off kilter. But....I somehow survived it. 1lb lost despite wine every night! I have done some exercise still and actually ate fairly well apart from one late night cheese board. So I've either escaped or it will catch up with me next few days.

25th Sep - 9st 10.8lbs / 28.7% body fat
2nd Oct - 9st 8.8lbs / 28.3% body fat
9th Oct - 9st 7.9lbs / 28.1% body fat
16th Oct - 9st 6.9lb / 27.8% body fat

Hope everyone else has a good weigh in day. Maybe not if we're all struggling a bit, but hopefully we'll at least help each other get our mojos back. x

neverenoughchelseaboots · 16/10/2020 07:50

I've just realised that I'm the lightest I've been for at least four years, before I got pregnant. Probably considerably longer than that too but I didn't have scales for years.

I don't know how I managed to get that lb off but I'm so happy that I've managed to steadily manage it over the last few weeks - thank you all so much for you support on here, it's been such a help.

I'm going to get a body pump class in before work to celebrate!

cathyandclare · 16/10/2020 07:59

Well done never, great progress!

I'm in the despondent camp. I've been really careful, stuck to strict low carb and I've stayed the same. I'm in keto but my body is clinging on to the excess blubber.

In the past I've found that there's a tipping point where lots comes off and then it keeps dropping slowly, so trying to hang on in there!

Still 8 12.5, so 7.5lb to go ( or preferably more!)

Morningmaeve · 16/10/2020 09:05

Morning all - no change in weight here today. A bit disappointing as have had a good week on the whole with the only blip having several glasses of wine one evening. Even did two sessions on the bike. I guess I am going to have to up the exercise and look at my food intake in more detail... I do love my carbs. Age is definitely a factor - I would have lost weight doing what I am doing a few years ago. Damn you menopause! For the record I am still 9st 8.8lbs.

WhistlersandJugglers · 16/10/2020 09:52

10st1lb here. A pound down. I might have hit 10st but had 2 drinks and peanuts last night. I don't plan to have any alcohol over the weekend because I'd love to see the needle on the scale stay under 10.

NearWildHeaven · 16/10/2020 10:54

Can I join? Like a PP mentioned I used to be consistently light in my teens and twenties (started at 6.5 and went up to over 7) without a thought. Eating and drinking (mostly alcopops Blush) what I liked. Went up to 8 stone after I had kids in my 30s. Still not bothered. All good. Then I’m in my 40s and was fluctuating between 8 and a half / 8 and 3/4 stones. Starting to feel a bit dumpy. Face is fuller. Still ok (ish).

Now this year. I have been over 9 stone since March. 9 stone 4 1/2 to be precise. My belly is huge in comparison to my legs.

It’s clear to me that I need to do something to halt this trajectory. And here I am

Height - 5 foot
Current weight - 9 stones 4.5 pounds
Target - would love to get to 8 stones 7

Alcohol is a big contributor now, which is new. So either I cut it out or need to factor it in.

Sorry this is so epic. It’s been helpful to think things through and write them down

SwimmingOnEggshells · 16/10/2020 13:24

No change here either! Slacked off a bit to be honest. Tomorrow is another day and all that.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 16/10/2020 13:26

Hello@NearWildHeaven I'm same weight and height and almost 40 with a very similar girth widening trajectory. Turn me sideways and mark me absent used to be said about me when I was younger, not anymore!

TheDogsMother · 16/10/2020 13:55

No change this week so have two weeks to lose 2lb, ideally 3 Confused. Focus woman !!

Glitterbubbles · 16/10/2020 14:13

I'm 5 ft 4, am I too tall to join please?!
I'm late 20s, weigh 72kg. Goal weight is 58kg, but I'd be happy with low 60s. Trying to get healthy before TTC our first next year.
Swim 2-3x per week, long walks/5km runs 2-3x per week.

TeddyDidIt · 16/10/2020 14:31

Another shorty here hoping to shift some weight without depriving myself of too many favourite things!

Age: 36
Height 5ft 2
Current weight: 9 stone 3
Target weight 8 stone 10

I don't drink much but I am at home with a toddler so not getting much exercise and I am a snacker. This never used to be a problem in my twenties but obviously things change and if I'm honest I think I'd look terrible at 7 stone now!
I had got up to 9 stone 9 3 weeks ago when I decided something needs to change, so I have lost 6 pounds since then (although most of that was the first week). 8 stone 10 is my end of year target, but I'm allowing myself a takeaway when I get to 9 stone 1!

This week has not been great. I think the cardio I did every day last week caught up with me and I've had very early mornings with DD2, so I have felt too achy and tired to do much exercise (plus I stupidly slipped some treats into the food shopping Grin). So I'm hoping this thread can remotivate me!

Smellybluecheese · 16/10/2020 14:32

So I'm 0.8lb down this week, 12.6lb down since July. Current weight 9st 5.6lb.

Unlike some of you I've never been skinny, the smallest I've ever been is about 8stone7 which I was for most of my 30s until I had my daughter. Trying to get back to that now nearly 6 years later. Was chubby in my 20s from a lot of cider and cheesy chips at uni. Was never one of those people who could eat anything and get away with it, even in my youth!

MrsAvocet · 16/10/2020 15:18

Pah! I've gained 300g. First week I have gained since the beginning of the year. But its been a horrible, stressful week for me and I have been comfort eating. Unfortunately I am not one of those people who loses their appetite when stressed! Ah well, it could be worse. Here's to a better week next week.

somanysockssolittletime · 16/10/2020 17:55

Fellow shorty needing to lose 2-5 lbs and maintain that loss.

It seems to be proving easier said than done! My basal maintaining calories is 1470 (sedentary day) - 1600 (work day). So I need to do 1200 - 1300 to lose anything. So little!

I like my cooking and my wine and beer!

Really need to stick to it this time and maintain it.

I'm going for the smaller portions method and if that doesn't work I'm going to buy healthy ready meals so I know the exact calories without all the faffing and counting every ingredient.

I'm doing 25 mins of exercises 3-4 times a week and I walk a decent amount anyway.

Posting on here for accountability.

I'll weigh myself tomorrow morning, too scared to do it just now haha!

Good luck to everyone else here too SmileSmile

neverenoughchelseaboots · 16/10/2020 19:28

@MrsAvocet you've done so well to lose every week for months! A bad week can completely derail things, or even a change in routine.

neverenoughchelseaboots · 16/10/2020 19:29

Hey to all the new folks.

You're right about accountability @somanysockssolittletime That has helped me. That's why I post my full chain of stats each week so there's no hiding the comparisons.

LittleLapwing · 16/10/2020 20:54

I’ve failed today - DH returned from work trip laden with all my favourites as a treat. Which was lovely but I’d been having such a good day!
Tomorrow’s another day though 💪

StripeyandConfused · 16/10/2020 21:22

I'm 5 foot 3 but dont think I'm short Blush
I am however too heavy. I'm about 9st 8lbs and want to be 9 stone. I just love crap food
