Shorties trying to lose weight!

I started my fatbusting journey a couple of weeks ago and my plan is to document my progress here.

So far I've been doing a fair bit of cardio - 5 times per week - and I'm hoping this will help me get rid of some lbs. I posted a thread on AIBU looking for people's advice on only using exercise to lose weight but the general consensus is that no, I need to calorie restrict too. Boo! is what I say to that but maybe I need to face facts that I'm no longer a spring chicken and need to make a concerted effort with food too to shed anything!

Anyone want to join me?! @neverenoughchelseaboots

Current weight: 60kg/132lbs
Target: 50kg/110lbs
Height: 5'0 :(
Age: 39

Yes, I'm in Ireland too. I know two people who had a Covid test in the last week, luckily both negative. It's way better to have the test and be sure before you meet anyone. I hope you get to meet up with your friends.
I'm hoping to take the DC to town for some Christmas shopping on Friday so hoping to be fully better by then. It really doesn't seem like only 9 days to Christmas.

neverenoughchelseaboots · 16/12/2020 14:31

Guilty as charged @SwimmingOnEggshells. Well done for being so disciplined!

I ran on Friday last week and my hamstring did a weird twang so I walked home and have rested it since. I'm also on my period which means my weight is high and so not motivating enough to keep me on the straight and narrow!

I'll try for a run tomorrow when it's dry but generally yeah - it's fully Christmas in my mind now 🙈

Knittingnanny · 17/12/2020 00:01

I’m keeping going! So determined to reach my target by Christmas Eve but we have a day and an overnight childcare date this week and I always finish the toddlers leftovers! Just like I used to do when mine were little.
Will need food to keep me going overnight with a waking baby as well!

modernfemininity · 17/12/2020 01:16

I am still going, and maintaining. I am not very much under target, I am AT target, so I would rather like a buffer zone! I have found it’s a lot of effort to lose and the same still to not gain. This defo feels like dieting and not just maintaining. I am still eating a veg base to main meals. It is not very convenient. I spend a lot of time chopping and peeling veg and it is eaten up so fast. Fridge space is an issue. I do the 16:8 and 5:2. I have the odd treat and then I have to compensate for it. I am happier though, having a smaller bum and fitting in my clothes. Keep going everyone!

Morningmaeve · 17/12/2020 08:07

I am still here too plodding along with a mix of good and not so good days. Was 9 stone 6.2 last week and aiming for anything lower than that in Friday!

SwimmingOnEggshells · 17/12/2020 09:27

After all my talk of being great I slipped up yesterday: i had two rashers, a fried egg and one slice of bread for lunch and then had a falafel wrap for dinner with wedges. No idea what the calories were but it's definitely more than what I'd normally eat mid-week..I'm guessing 1600 in total?

But, on a very positive note, I now have a waist again! I'm ever so slightly narrower on my waist than I am at my hips.

It's great to hear everyone is still working away, it helps me stay motivated to get back on the wagon today :)

Hello! Would love to join you fellow shorties, have been on other v helpful threads but as pp have said the weight loss when you are small can be so different! Half a stone can be the difference in 2 dress sizes for me!
Am 5' bang on, currently weight 10st 2. (Cannot work out kg!)
Have put on 2st since March, which am so shocked but not surprised at as wine intake has increased, snacking has increased immensely! So id just like to get back to that, so 28lb loss at a hopeful 2 a week would maybe take me back to March?

SwimmingOnEggshells · 17/12/2020 12:23

Welcome @MichelleScarn! I find it really helpful being here with other smallies, I'm almost 9 stone now and on other threads they'd think you were mad to want to be smaller but that's just within a normal BMI for me who's also 5'0.

Like you I put on a shitload of weight since March, all wine and snacks for me too. Thankfully it's coming off now :) What's your diet plan?

MichelleScarn · 17/12/2020 15:32

Thanks! Am trying not to actively 'diet' and just eat less rubbish and carbs and drink ĺess wine! And get out and be active more- I am sadly very self indulgent with food etc so portion controlling as well! I do tell people I could down at 7st before I'd be classed as 'underweight' not that I've been that size since before dc and I don't think I could be that size again ever! But being small l will weigh less..

MichelleScarn · 17/12/2020 15:34

Sorry thats a ramble but basically like you said as shorter people we will have lower bmi!

Knittingnanny · 17/12/2020 20:34

Well my overnight childcare has been cancelled due to tier3 and I didn’t eat any leftovers today.
Reached my target this morning and have set myself a new goal.
Hopefully will only go up a tiny amount over next 2 weeks as I feel really positive and in control of eating mindfully.
Going to aim for 9 st by March 1st
If I could nudge into 8 something that would be my weight before my first pregnancy in 1982!
Will watch the thread to see how you are all getting on

modernfemininity · 18/12/2020 00:43

Well done @Knittingnanny getting to the target. Good luck with the next leg!

I had a 3 course Christmas lunch yesterday. Made me really full and uncomfortable - like a lion eating an antelope! I don’t have any more food after that!

Sometimes a big blow-out can increase my metabolism and it seems to kick start me into losing weight. I will let you know Monday.Xmas Smile

SwimmingOnEggshells · 18/12/2020 10:10

I've lost a half lb! now at 127 which is 9 stone 1lb. Pretty pleased with that because I don't feel I restricted too much this week and I had a very boozy zoom call with friends last night.

Out again this evening and it'll be a three course meal and more drink but I'm going to get back on the wagon then on Saturday.

Do you find you get full a lot quicker now/can't eat as much as before? @modernfemininity. I think that's starting to happen to me.

A gain for me, not at all surprising.

Start 25th Sep - 9st 10.8lbs /28.7% body fat
Last week - 9st 3.5lb / 26.8% body fat
Today - 9st 4.1lb / 27% body fat.

Going to try and lay off the After Eights for a few days and get a bit of exercise in.

Well done to everyone else for keeping going - I'm very impressed with your resolve.

MrsAvocet · 18/12/2020 12:22

A teeny loss of about half a pound for me, but at least I haven't gained again. I've succumbed to a few mince pies recently....

Morningmaeve · 18/12/2020 18:52

Tiny loss of me this week - Now 9stone 6lb. Will be back for January with renewed focus. Will try to maintain over next few weeks but expect that will be difficult! Wishing a safe and happy festive season to all my short comrades.

modernfemininity · 19/12/2020 09:26

@SwimmingOnEggshells yes I get fuller quicker. I need to master stopping eating when full, because actually, if it is on my plate, I will normally just eat all of it. I hate to waste food! This is why I ate my children’s left overs when they were small.

Knittingnanny · 19/12/2020 18:49

Well it’s all gone to pot! Now in tier 4 and I’ve just eaten 5 shortbread biscuits without even realising

Karcheer · 19/12/2020 19:31

Same - my gym is Tier 2 but I wont be able to go :(
MrsAvocet · 19/12/2020 20:47

I've just eaten 3 luxury mince pies and my own bodyweight in walnuts to compensate for hearing that my DD can't come home for Christmas after all.
I'll start again tomorrow.

MrsAvocet · 19/12/2020 21:56

Arrgh. And I've just opened a tub of Roses and stuffed myself. I am so angry with myself. I don't actually feel any better about the shit situation and I'm cross with myself for my pathetic lack of will power. Getting fat again won't solve anything!
