Hello & Welcome

Following on from the September thread...

This year is going by so quickly; before we know it festive movies will be on the TV and we'll be prepping for Christmas. I for one am going the extra mile to make it special for my beloved family and bugger C19 (must add we won’t be breaking the rule of 6!)

Every year part of my Christmas prep includes going all out to feel that bit healthier, fitter and slimmer. I’m happy to say this year I’m ahead of the game due to the people and support on these LOSE IT! threads. Thank you!

If you yourself want to feel healthier, fitter and a little bit more svelte, jump on board, there’s plenty of room. The ladies already here are supportive and knowledgeable!

This bit is copied from my post on here.

Me personally? In the main it’s been a way of life for nearly 3 years and I’ve lost over 40lbs. I had a bit of blip at the start of C19. After all my hard work I just started eating with impunity. Before I knew it I was10lbs up in a few short weeks! I needed to get back on it and COVID proof myself 😬 I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with lite weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on this thread. We are in this together.

Also a complete noob with these posts - how do I post with enter breaks throughout my post? When I type it I have spaced it out all lovely and neat but once it goes through it compresses everything into a non paragraphed mess!! Is it because I'm on the app?

Puffalicious · 14/10/2020 11:40

Thank you everyone, I feel very welcome.
Therealhousewife I will read all the opening info and posts throughout this week before I return home. Thank you.

Cescanicole thank you for caring, I've woken up today determined rather than upset, which is good. From this moment on I'm cutting out sugar and reducing gluten as that worked in the past.

Onwards and upwards x

MrsJonesAndMe · 14/10/2020 12:40

Hello, so much to catch up on!

Hope you are OK @SunshineCake if the mood takes you, just run...unless the knee gives you more trouble, what harm can it do?

Amazing work on the losses @FatGirlShrinking and @CescaNicole (your post looks fine to me on the laptop)

Thanksgiving sounds good @fallfallfall We like cabbage or brussels with chorizo and chilli in.

Welcome @Puffalicious... I had the same realisation last July on holiday and set myself a target of 10KG which came off pretty easily with IF - doing 16:8.... it meant that I could eat with the family and I still could have the odd treat such as a hot chocolate and brownie - just not mindless eating for all my waking hours Blush

I'm still plodding along doing lots of mileage with the buggy. Finally spoke to the GP last week who wants to do more bloods/scan etc and not tinker with my thyroid meds despite my count being relatively high Hmm so no wonder I feel pants. Hopefully I can get the bloods done this weekend, but have to ring tomorrow morning at 9 for the hallowed appointment! Not much else to report. Take care all.

SunshineCake · 14/10/2020 13:16

Hi everyone

Day did not go to plan. Had to take dd out of school to speak to the doctor and she is now at home. Did get the dog walked but no chance of a run.

Same weight as last week but fine with that as I did go up in between last Wednesday and today and now I'm down again so feel like I did lose. I saw myself in the mirror and while I know I am still overweight I feel very thinGrin.

No idea about the posting @CescaNicole. Could you post on a lap top or other device and see what happens? I do have paragraphs in your post though. I'm on an iPad. Well done on your loss!Star

I might go on the bike later, @MrsJonesAndMe as don't want to run now and that way I can exercise but are still in the house for DD, plus I've just heard the plants I have ordered and haven't told dh about are due this afternoon.

Oh heck

Have we been doing it all wrong and just needed a bloke to tell us how.

None of us are trying to lose weight fast or by a "diet"

comprehension

Galvantula · 14/10/2020 15:01

@SunshineCake 😂😂😂

Galvantula · 14/10/2020 15:02

Obviously hasn't heard of the "report spam" function either 🤔

fallfallfall · 14/10/2020 18:15

@SunshineCake, I know what you mean about your weight loss. I’m feeling similar, close enough to my goal. Pleased with my progress and okay with a plateau.

SunshineCake · 14/10/2020 18:54

@fallfallfall I'm not at my goal yet but I'm happy with the progress I've made. While I don't really understand BMI numbers does anyone know how I can find out my ideal weight? Is it just a case if putting it in and they say overweight plus what I should be ?

Walked doggy this afternoon and when we got back I really really wanted to go running but I did 25 minutes on the bike instead. I will run tomorrow.

fallfallfall · 14/10/2020 19:05

@SunshineCake, BMI is based on your height. So yes use a chart, there will be different values for male vs female. Generally it’s helpful BUT some people do have bigger bone structure and the info isn’t accurate for them. I’m 5’3” and the top “normal” weight is 140, which is a BMI 25.
I weighed in at 141.9 a few days ago.

Candacewasalwaysright · 14/10/2020 19:21

Damn, I missed what Bryan had to sayGrin

Just a midweek check in

On a whim I decided to have a look at the food logging option on my Fitbit and I was quite impressed. It searches for items by their barcode and also seems to have a pretty comprehensive list of other foods. It also breaks down your food intake to macros. Don't mean to preach to the already converted, but I had no idea it could do that!

Not sure I will lose anything this week but my sleep has been much better so I will take that. Will also be signing up for Les Mills on demand tomorrow. I am going to hurt so much, I remember the first time I ever did Bodypump, I thought I was going to be sick after the lunges track Blush

SunshineCake · 14/10/2020 19:32

I need to lose another ten pounds to get into healthy range. Thank you.

Bryan's message was don't crash diet and if you watch these three videos for FREE you will lose weight Shock.

fallfallfall · 14/10/2020 20:19

I watch a lot of free videos, miss Marple as of late. Will that help?

SunshineCake · 14/10/2020 20:44

Only if you watch so many you forget to eat Confused. Maybe.

Puffalicious · 14/10/2020 22:55

Thank you MrsJonesandme I'll be looking into lots of methods, that's 16:8 on my list now!

Started with a vengeance today- did a 3 hour hike with teen DCs in Glencoe, was very high and almost vertical in places. My legs and bum will be in agony in the morning! A good start!

RomanMum · 14/10/2020 23:25

Right. Fuck this, I've had enough. Can I join? Late to the party I know but fed up. Put on over 1/2 stone in lockdown (going in needing to lose a stone) and just comfort eating as much chocolate as I can stuff in my fat face.

Tried SW before and willing to do it again but for the discipline of weekly weigh ins as much as the plan itself. I'm on my 2nd whisky of the evening as well which really isn't helping.

Will try cutting back to healthy eating basics, upping the exercise and drinking only at weekends in moderation.

I dread to think what the scales will read tomorrow morning but I need to make a change.

Puffalicious · 14/10/2020 23:55

Romanmum yes, fuck it. I've got double to lose what you have. I'm in as soon as I get home to scales. I'm glad to have another newbie for company.

FatGirlShrinking · 15/10/2020 03:55

Made the mistake of falling asleep on the sofa at 8pm so now I'm wide awake at 3am.

6lb to go to hit my first big goal of not being obese, 64lb to my 'Final' goal which is the recommended weight for my height according to all the TDEE calculators.

Honestly no idea what I would look like if I got that small, it's completely inconceivable to me. I was 11 stone when I was 11 years old, and tracked my age till I was 16 (so 16 stone at 16 yrs) after that my weight increased but not at a stone a year pace, maxing out in my mid 20s at about 18 and a half stone. So the last time I weighed even close to my 'ideal' weight I was in primary school.

I feel like I would look skeletal but logically I see on these weight loss threads lots of people who are my height and looking to lose 7lb to put them back to 9 stone something so it can't be as small as I imagine.

Salt and overindulged today...and I shouldn’t have. Long day may need to be more vigilant for the next few days.
Some miles during the day and a big 5 mile power walk with LS.
Knitting going very well, 1 down 3 to go!!

FatGirlShrinking · 15/10/2020 05:01

Either your DH has big feet or you have teeny feet @fallfallfall 😁 slippers are looking fab, very neat and tidy knitting.

Last slippers I made were for a guy at work who is very very overweight, very very tall and was suffering badly with oedema and ulcers on his ankles and legs, so was actually coming into work barefoot with bandages as he couldn't find any shoes or socks to fit. Made these massive slipper boots and stitched some rubber matting to the soles to give a bit of protection.

I need to get the needles out and knit up some fingerless gloves for me and DD, the chill is starting to settle and with schools having the windows open all the time I think some wrist warmers style gloves would be useful in the classroom. Or I might just sew some up out of fleece which would be a lot quicker Grin

RomanMum · 15/10/2020 05:35

@Puffalicious

Hi there! Good to have the company. We can do this!

Early start today. Scales say 12s 8. Eek. Target weight sub 11st, but I'm starting with first interim of 12st 7 Smilethen 1/2st targets after that.

fallfallfall · 15/10/2020 06:03

@FatGirlShrinking these will be felted (shrunk in hot water) to custom fit. Really cool and fun project (only one I know though).

FatGirlShrinking · 15/10/2020 08:23

@fallfallfall I’ve seen patterns and tutorials for felting but never been brave enough to try it, I worry I’ll over felt/shrink and waste all my long long hours of knitting and end up with a doll sized item Grin is it easy to control the shrink?
