Hello & Welcome

Following on from the September thread...

This year is going by so quickly; before we know it festive movies will be on the TV and we'll be prepping for Christmas. I for one am going the extra mile to make it special for my beloved family and bugger C19 (must add we won’t be breaking the rule of 6!)

Every year part of my Christmas prep includes going all out to feel that bit healthier, fitter and slimmer. I’m happy to say this year I’m ahead of the game due to the people and support on these LOSE IT! threads. Thank you!

If you yourself want to feel healthier, fitter and a little bit more svelte, jump on board, there’s plenty of room. The ladies already here are supportive and knowledgeable!

This bit is copied from my post on here.

Me personally? In the main it’s been a way of life for nearly 3 years and I’ve lost over 40lbs. I had a bit of blip at the start of C19. After all my hard work I just started eating with impunity. Before I knew it I was10lbs up in a few short weeks! I needed to get back on it and COVID proof myself 😬 I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with lite weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on this thread. We are in this together.

I always found Next to come up larger compared to other places so I’d say the 18 there might fit you nicely if the same size in primark is a bit snug, or if the primark fits but just the wrong shape you might even be looking at a 16 now! Think of what progress you’ve made there!

SunshineCake · 08/10/2020 16:44

Been thinking about you, *@TheRealHousewife. Hope you are feeling better. How are you ?

fallfallfall · 09/10/2020 00:32

feel better soon @TheRealHousewife.

CescaNicole · 09/10/2020 09:05

Hi All!
Hope you're all OK!

I forgot to WOW so have weighed today, which is one week since I last weighed anyway and started this whole journey!
I am only 1 lb down but that is a step in the right direction at least? I was hoping for more as have been really good with my diet! Never mind.

A NSV is that my maternity jeans are now far too big with no bump to hold them up, so I ordered some new jeans in a size up (as my pre pregnancy jeans are too small still!), but the size up are also a tad too big!! So I think I'm right in between sizes at the moment. Back into leggings.....!

I have managed 2 small (15 min) yoga workouts and a 3k walk (pushing pram) this week which I think is good too! Building up slowly as still only 4 weeks post partum and don't want to do too much too soon!
Just got to keep going!!

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Trisolaris · 09/10/2020 13:50

Feel better @TheRealHousewife

We’ve had some bad/good news re tricat

The vet has recommended amputating her bad paw - we thought it might happen eventually as she’s always limped on it since we got her as a rescue but he doesn’t think it will be able to heal properly now since it now has an open sore that she keeps limping on. So in two weeks it shall be gone and hopefully she will have a better quality of life and the cone of shame will be no more!

SunshineCake · 09/10/2020 15:45

A pound is a pound *@CescaNicole and you have to start somewhere so well done. You have the whoosh to look forward too.

Poor *@Trisolaris Cat but hopefully it will be a positive in the end.

MrsJonesAndMe · 09/10/2020 16:11

Hi all, life has been very busy/stressful blah blah blah as for us all I'm sure.

Hope you're feeling better soon @SunshineCake and @TheRealHousewife and poor kitty @Trisolaris

I'm just putting one foot in front of the other and getting through each day as best I can.

Take care all and wonderful to see you @Foreverlexicon

SunshineCake · 09/10/2020 17:30

Yep, never rains but it pours.

Fairly sure DS2 is okay but will be confirmed on Monday, DD now has a temperature and I'm still coughing with chest discomfort but I've had the latter since April.

At least it is Friday!!

fallfallfall · 09/10/2020 19:18

weight firmly stuck. not so chipper today :(

SunshineCake · 09/10/2020 20:32

Sorry to hear that *@fallfallfall. Hope you feel better soon and see some results.

fallfallfall · 09/10/2020 20:37

thanks @SunshineCake. it went so well for so many weeks and now this.
but i need to focus on the positive right. my dh's 4 hour webinar ends today (it's been an every morning thing all week) which has interfered a bit with activity level (which actually might be more my issue than the webinar). because if i think about it I COULD easily do more.

SunshineCake · 09/10/2020 22:08

I'll join you. I'm running again on Monday. It was justified to miss the days I did but I am okay to start again I think.

FatGirlShrinking · 10/10/2020 11:56

Today started well and went downhill rapidly.

Woke up early, weighed and I'm down to 204lb, which means I've now lost 1/8 of my starting body weight.

Nipped to the gym and did 30 mins on the treadmill, headed to Lidl and picked up some nice bits and bobs including cute Halloween socks and activity books for DD.

Back to the car and the bastard battery was flat.

No-one in the car park or adjoining shops had jumper cables, walked up to 3 nearby garages who weren't able/willing to head 2 mins down the road to jump start the car, so had to call in-laws out to rescue me.

Then straight to Halfords who happily took £120 for a new battery and fitting.

Freezing cold as spent too long outside in gym kit in the cold and rain so now I'm sat with a hot water bottle and slippers trying to defrost.

I really need to make sure I do a good 30 minute drive every week, since lockdown and WFH I only use the car 2 or 3 times a week for 5-10 minute drives.

SunshineCake · 10/10/2020 15:52

£120?! Shock. Should be about £50 Hmm at Halfords.

FatGirlShrinking · 10/10/2020 16:01

£15 fitting fee and they had 2 choices available in store, 4 yr guarantee for £85 or 5 yr guarantee for £103. For the sake of £20 I chose the 5 yr guarantee.

Luckily I put money aside each month in my 'when the bastarding car decides to fall apart' fund so while it's annoying it doesn't affect monthly budget.

SunshineCake · 10/10/2020 16:08

I'm just shocked. I had a new battery fitted about five years ago, paid £50 and no apparent charge for fitting.

Aurorie11 · 10/10/2020 18:47

Reporting in late, stayed the same this week. Eating not been golden so can’t complain, stone down overall. Long walk this afternoon for about 1h 45, burnt 875 cals

rivierliedje · 11/10/2020 16:28

Hellish period just finished, but managed to go out for a run in the beautiful sunshine today and eating fairly well yesterday and today, despite a stressful busy work week (and working saturday).
Came in at 150 again, which is not really a loss so much as losing what I had gained. But it is in the right direction.

Candacewasalwaysright · 11/10/2020 19:24

Not a great week for me, I actually put on a couple of pounds. I've been sleeping dreadfully, though, for the last 10 days or so and that always affects my weight. I kind of sailed through menopause apart from weight and sleep issues so I suppose that it's the rough with the smooth.

I think I will make an enormous batch of veggie chilli and that should help on the calories front. Also thinking about subscribing to Les Mills on demand as I'm really not keen on going back to the gym as I would have to wear a mask there. (I am pro masks, just not when I'm working out!) we do have a spin bike and a very old step platform.

FatGirlShrinking · 11/10/2020 19:56

@Candacewasalwaysright I couldn't wear a mask at the gym either, way too much heat and steam. I wear glasses and a walk in the supermarket in a mask is enough to fog them up, I'd be blind in the gym Grin

Went to the park with DD and I was chasing her around and able to fit on the swings which was fantastic.

Also was going through some old and new photos today and can't believe the change in my face.

I've put the photos in a collage here, don't want to post direct to MN as this way I can delete them to unlink from my username.

fallfallfall · 11/10/2020 20:46

Lovely photos @FatGirlShrinking, indeed you notice the change in your face. Well done.

Candacewasalwaysright · 11/10/2020 21:06

Wow @FatGirlShrinking, those photos are great!

MrsJonesAndMe · 11/10/2020 21:12

Gosh, you hardly look like the same person @FatGirlShrinking

You've done amazingly x

SunshineCake · 11/10/2020 21:54

@FatGirlShrinking you have done so well.

I'm up a couple of pounds but I'm not upset. Tomorrow I am determined to run even though I have too much to do. It will be my 70th and I might compromise on shorter distance and trying to get faster to fit all the other stuff in I need to do.

Galvantula · 12/10/2020 08:55

Aw you look great @FatGirlShrinking. :)

Just been going along steady as close to my MFP target as I can. Down 0.5kg at 57.5kg the last few days, feels weird to be back at only a few lb from target! Maybe it'll stick at the 5th or 6th attempt 😅

Was feeling totally crap yesterday, sore head and really tired. Feel a bit better today but still a bit wiped out. At least one kid has come home with a cold for their October holidays, maybe just sharing it with me. 🙄 Have already checked my temp just in case, not that it makes you paranoid. 🤦 I'm off on holiday from work for a week too, perfect time to feel grotty. Weather sucks today too, we'd hoped to go out a walk, but maybe no!
