Hi, here's the new thread. Always love the new start that September brings with back to school and all the jazz. I'm unfortunately starting the month heavier, 9st2.5, bit cross with myself to be honest, know I have been comfort eating, its got to stop. Aim for this month is as ever yawn, 8st13.

Hi all, totally off the wagon here with being unwell but at least the steroids aren't making me ravenous like they normally do. Ds and I are all about the toast and biscuits but I'm wanting something more meal like now. I've got cravings for that lasagne and salad someone mentioned.
Thanks to all that are having a tough time. It's not been a good week mentally here due to illness, starting the freedom programme and my ex trying to mentally destroy me but hey ho. Next week will be better I hope.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 11/09/2020 21:19

If I weren't on a low cal budget...

  1. marmite and peanut butter together on toast
  2. toast, butter, marmite, Gouda, poached egg, ketchup.
Octopus37 · 12/09/2020 07:34

Bercows, hope you are starting to feel better now. 9st1.75 here today, went out with my friend last night, food and wine. My Dad is coming down to stay tomorrow, despite the covid risk, it has been universally agreed (social worker) that it is better for his mental health. It has been more or less decided that his partner should stay in the care home permanently, v difficult for him but the right decision. Lots to sort out, but relieved that he will be here as being so worried. How I miss the days when worry used to result in weight loss lol

Sounds like you have so much going on Octopus.

Haven't stepped on the scales since my win this week.

TheHoneyBadger · 12/09/2020 09:46

Allegedly I’m 2lbs up from a few slices of pizza Hmm it’ll go again. Haven’t been to the toilet properly for a few days and think my period is imminent.

Heygirlheyboy · 12/09/2020 17:09

Tni Honeybadger (but there's not much we're holding back on this thread!) but I find a cool boiled lemon water in the morning and some fruit keeps things moving, so to speak. Plus plenty of water of course, and movement. Embarrassing ad over!

I am the same today, and I'm sitting here looking forward to a posh dinner out with two closest friends at....... 10pm Confused I'll be asleep and ravenous Grin So I've had: granola bar and Greek yoghurt
L: beetroot salad with oil and pumpkin seeds Halo
S: 15 almonds and a crate of pineapple. And I'll try hang on in there till then. It's a fab fine dining spot and I'll bring dessert home to dh. Looking forward to getting dressed up and I'll have a drink or two, maybe a gin cocktail. Enjoy your weekend all and octopus I'm glad you'll have your dad.

Lalanbaba · 12/09/2020 17:39

@Heygirlheyboy enjoy dinner tonight!
@Octopus37 glad you can have your dad with you.
@Bercows did you manage to get tested?
Today I'm trying to get over the rejection mails from the week. I have to keep applying for jobs and learn from mistakes. Is it crazy that I'm thinking about apprenticeships at 37?
Today:
B: porridge (sk milk) and frozen cherries. Tea
L : rice, broccoli, peas and swedish meatballs. Low fat ice-cream
D: don't know yet, feel very bloated from lunch still.

Hangoverstruggles · 12/09/2020 21:41

Evening everyone,

Sounds like everyone has a lot going on. When life is shit / hard I think focus on nourishment rather than dieting.

My period has arrived and kids have been crabby and difficult after their first week back. I've eaten maintenance cals today and will do the same tmw.

B Two lovely big coffees
L omelette with chorizo, cheese and red pepper
D chicken and veggies stir-fried
S Apple with peanut butter, Bourbon biscuit, some dates, popcorn, tea, Snickers

Comes to around 1750

Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket · 13/09/2020 03:52

Hello, just catching up with the thread, sounds like you are all having a pretty hectic time. I'm really impressed that you're sticking to dieting and exercising.
I've been really off the wagon this last week. I'm stressing out over a potential house move (hence on MN at 3:40am!) Kids and DH all keen to move to a different (cheaper so much bigger house) place away from London and I'm up worrying about how much time I'll have to spend away if we do it.
I've been eating extremely badly and feel a bit rubbish as a result. Avoiding the scales...
@HoneysuckIejasmine I hope you are feeling better soon x
@Octopus37 sounds like things are mad for you at the moment hope you get some time for yourself soon
@TheHoneyBadger how did back to school go? Hope all was well x

Octopus37 · 13/09/2020 08:49

Lalanbaba I feel your pain re job applications, have had a couple of those emails, not nice, although putting this on hold at the moment. Heygirl, hope you enjoyed your evening, its lovely to get dressed up. Think the kids are all struggling with the back to school routine, tiredness etc. DS2 has got a cold, confident its a cold so not worrying about my Dad, I am fighting one off as well, haven't been feeling amazing. Think as HoneyBadger said, if we can focus on nutrition rather than dieting it might help during difficult times. Did eat a nutty salad thing from M&S yesterday. Irony is that I will be focusing on feeding my Dad up a bit, dont think he is much heavier than me. Very relieved that he's coming down, although going to be a bit difficult with my boys as they havent had a relationship with him. 9st1.75 this morning

Heygirlheyboy · 13/09/2020 09:32

Good luck with all that octopus, how long will he stay?

Lalanbaba no it's not crazy to do that at all at 37, it's never too late. Hope things work out for you.

I had an amazing meal and no one batted an eyelid at me bringing home the dessert. Food was melt in your mouth delicious. I'm 8st12.25 this morning which bring me to a 13 pound loss in a day shy of 11 weeks. Very pleased now must get a coffee!

TheHoneyBadger · 13/09/2020 13:10

Hey iggle it’s madness but manageable so far. Very hectic with year groups on different timings and in different zones so frequently get the headless chicken feeling but have managed to be in the right place at the right time with the right stuff so far by constantly checking and reminding myself.

Totally off the wagon this weekend and scales declaring I’ve put on 4lbs since Saturday which obviously can’t be the case. I think my period is over due but I had a few days of light bleeding mid cycle so really don’t know if that was just weird spotting or an actual period 🤷‍♀️ I’m 44 so guess it could be peri menopause getting underway but who knows.

Swimming Monday and Tuesday evening this week and will fast through work tomorrow and try to ignore the crazy fluctuations. It’s probably time to mix things up with a couple of eating high cal days anyway. Fasting just becomes long term calorie deficit otherwise with the usual effect on bmr.

Meh. As I say sanity is my main goal for September. That and swimming

TheHoneyBadger · 13/09/2020 13:10

4lbs since Friday I meant

Heygirlheyboy · 13/09/2020 14:37

I hate that Honeybadger but assuming you haven't eaten 14000 extra cals you're probably OK. Grin

TheHoneyBadger · 13/09/2020 18:51

Yeah I’ve had pizza and beer but 12000 calories above maintenance? Definitely not.

Walked to my parents and back today to have late lunch in the garden. Very last minute because we can’t go in the house given ds and I are in school (ergo high risk) and they wanted to be sure weather allowed for al fresco before inviting.

Back to work tomorrow. Weekend flies by. Think I’m going to need weekends to be free so may need to get stricter in the week

Heygirlheyboy · 13/09/2020 19:17

Yes I think we're all figuring how to work things best now we're back. I'm just prepping my lentil, roast veg and feta salad here. I'll probably get two maybe three lunches out of that this week.
B: berries and Greek yoghurt and coffee
L: cajun chicken fillet on sourdough wihj avocado and salad
T: scrambled eggs and beans
No joke I have no hunger after that but I haven't walked far at all, will try fit in a 20 min walk after bedtime. That's just under my 1254 allowance. As I come closer to goal of all goals weight I want to get back to higher cals, higher activity but right now I'm just doing what I can. How do weekends go so quickly?!

W989 · 13/09/2020 20:35

I'll join on here. Looking to maintain my weight. I've gone from a 14 to a 10 since May. Primarily through IF 16:8. Looking to calorie count and eat healthy

Heygirlheyboy · 13/09/2020 20:48

Wowzers and welcome!

W989 · 13/09/2020 20:49

@Heygirlheyboy thanks :)

IDontMindMarmite · 13/09/2020 21:04

Amazing work there @W989, congratulations and welcome! I'm looking to maintain too.

I saved calories for the weekend. Have not been watching what I eat really and have walked 10 miles each day. Fingers crossed I haven't screwed it up but I'm not great at moderating myself on these sort of 'cheat' days. They're not cheat days because they're planned but I can't think of what else to call them.

W989 · 13/09/2020 21:06

@IDontMindMarmite thanks. It wasn't easy. But it has been worth it.

Hangoverstruggles · 13/09/2020 21:54

Hi everyone,

I'm thinking of doing the same with weekends. This weekend I have eaten too much! Looking back over my weekly cals my better days balance out the bad days to give me roughly maintenance across the week so I'm ok with that.

We had cottage pie, Yorkshire's and veg for lunch with a big bowl of apple crumble and custard, red wine and some celebrations after. 1500 cals!! I wouldn't have bat an eyelid eating that 6 months ago. I've come in way over 2000 as munchies / period / Sunday night dread all manifested into some serious grazing this evening.

Aiming to eat 1400 Monday - Saturday this week and have a free day on Sunday.

Welcome @W989, I'm also a maintainer. Lost 18.5lb since April. Kind of wanting to lose 1.5 to call it a nice even 20lb loss but not as disciplined on diet at the moment as I have been.

@TheHoneyBadger that 4lb will just be pesky fluctuations for sure.

W989 · 13/09/2020 22:27

@Hangoverstruggles great. How tall are you? whats your weight?

Hangoverstruggles · 13/09/2020 23:00

@W989 I'm 5,8. Started at 11st2 and now 9st11.5 (although prob not after this weekend 😁)

W989 · 13/09/2020 23:02

@Hangoverstruggles you skinny minnie!!
