Slender in September

Hi, here's the new thread. Always love the new start that September brings with back to school and all the jazz. I'm unfortunately starting the month heavier, 9st2.5, bit cross with myself to be honest, know I have been comfort eating, its got to stop. Aim for this month is as ever yawn, 8st13.

I’ve lost nearly 2kg in one week! How does that work? I presume must be water weight?

TheHoneyBadger · 08/09/2020 07:59

A lot depends on height so at 5ft7 with long arrms and legs and around 14st I possibly don’t at first glance look as overweight as an 10-11st 5ft nothing. It’s the same with clothes sizes eg a size 12 on me would mean I was pretty slim but on someone shorter and with a small frame not so much.

I do struggle when people at low weights say they are huge or disgusting as I think what does that make me but just try to remember it’s nothing to do with me but their own body image or sometimes disphoria.

I did 50 laps the first time back but 40 feels like plenty after a day running around at work especially with a 45 minute time limit in the pool.

Want to weigh myself but annoyingly constipated and know it’ll be disheartening

IDontMindMarmite · 08/09/2020 08:12

When anyone says they are disgusting it says far more about them than you or anyone else.

Heygirlheyboy · 08/09/2020 08:28

Absolutely!

40 lengths in that time is incredible to me!
Happy Anniversary Mr&Mrs Octopus!!

I am down to 9st 12.5. Going well. Will allow more cals on my high activity days. Feeling good. Taking more care of myself generally I notice, skin etc. Have a good day all.

SistemaAddict · 08/09/2020 09:01

I agree with the comment on disgusting. I felt disgusting at 8 stone. It's not based on facts and doesn't translate to someone heavier being disgusting. It has no logic or basis in reality, it's just a personal feeling. And a stick to beat ourselves with.

SistemaAddict · 08/09/2020 09:03

Happy anniversary @Octopus37 !

Lalanbaba · 08/09/2020 11:16

40 laps is impressive doesn't matter the time. I'm sure I won't be able to swim that much now.
Feel very bloated this morning for no apparent reason. I'm supposed to get my period next week so maybe just pms.
B: Greek yogurt, granola and tiny bit of mincemeat. Tea
L: mushroom, sun-dried tomatoes and basil omelette. Salad and some fruit.
D: oven baked salmon. Rice, chickpeas and veggies.

SistemaAddict · 08/09/2020 15:08

I've given up today. Toast for breakfast after several rice tea biscuits. Hot cross buns for lunch. Thought I might get away with them at lunch. Nope. Big pain. Some lentil chips. No idea about dinner. I made keek and potato soup but don't fancy it at all. Might just have toast. Ds is having breadsticks and melon as his appetite is off. I don't care what he has as long as he's eating and drinking.

I would love to go swimming. We have an outdoor pool within reasonable distance (40 min train ride). It's gorgeous there. Best swim ever was on a very cold day last April. Beautiful clear blue skies, cold air, water that was ok as long as you were moving. Views of the Peak District. Perfect. Getting in and out was bloody freezing though!

IDontMindMarmite · 08/09/2020 16:43

I wanna eat cos I'm bored.

DRINK WATER EVERYONE.

That is all 😊

TheHoneyBadger · 08/09/2020 19:47

No food till dinner which was fish and veg and a treat of a chocolate eclair.

My mind is on food and what I could eat. Trying to ignore it for now.

That pool sounds like heaven bercows

Octopus37 · 09/09/2020 06:58

Anniversary didn't quite go to plan. Had to take older boy to A&E cause of a problem with his heel and the resulting drama. GP receptionist said we would probably be sent for an x-ray anyway. Felt guilty going but they were very nice about it and we know for sure. Younger boy meanwhile thought it would be funny to pretend that a man had chased him when he got off the bus a stop after me to come home from school, ran home to tell older boy, who panicked went to run out of the door to see if anyone was still there and tore his brand new school shirt, lots of drama, not impressed. Plans to let younger boy start making his way home from school are now paused. Rather than take away an alcohol, had ryvitas, cheese and too many crisps for tea, 9st1.25 this morning. Its a new day

Jesus that's a mad day Octopus.
I haven't done a meal plan for a while so here's what i've been having the last couple of days and will have today:
B: Overnight oats
L: Lamb and barley soup
D: Macaroni and cauliflower cheese
S: Raspberry brownie, low calorie ice cream, biscuits or whatever that takes me up to 1500 for the day.

Lalanbaba · 09/09/2020 10:44

@Octopus37 what a day! You guys should still celebrate, the weekend maybe?
@Bercows did you manage to get tested? Hope you guys are OK.
B: sourdough toast with olive oil. Tea
L : houmous, veggies, mortadella. Maybe a boiled egg. (alone for lunch so a picky platter)
D: quorn chilli, roasted sweet potato.

Heygirlheyboy · 09/09/2020 15:43

Oh gosh octopus, you couldn't make it up! All OK here, logged meals but only adds to 1146 so I might have a small snack later, don't want to get used to too few cals!
B: overnight oats and coffee
L: ratatouille and salad
D: sweet chilli chicken and noodles
S: 10 almonds
Water 2.5L target.

TheHoneyBadger · 09/09/2020 19:34

Evening. Hectic timetable day today plus a duty so have already smashed my steps, calories burnt and active minutes goals and still have a dog walk to do when I pull myself together. Ds had me making him pancakes after I got home from work.

Haven’t eaten today but currently drinking a red vermouth and tonic. Might just have a sandwich and some nuts as too knackered to cook. Will make a healthy stew tomorrow to compensate. Swimming tomorrow night.

A whisker under 14st this morning. Feel like I must be burning fat but it’s just not showing on the scales yet.

Hope you reminded the little one of the boy who cried wolf fable octopus

SistemaAddict · 09/09/2020 21:16

Ah the joys of having kids eh Octopus?

Still no tests available. Madness.

I'm just eating what I fancy at the moment which isn't a lot but drinking lots of water. I'll get back on track when we are better and out of self isolation. Ive just checked my Fitbit app and I've met my floors and calories burnt targets and managed to walk 2.6 miles despite not leaving the house. I feel like I've been sat or lay down all day so I'm surprised.

Keep going everyone Smile

IDontMindMarmite · 09/09/2020 21:20

Feeling exhausted today.

Hangoverstruggles · 09/09/2020 21:55

@TheHoneyBadger I'm in awe of your discipline! I'd be hoovering up everything in sight!

Been quite good today. Day off but just housework /school run rather than 'exercise'

B 3 big coffees 150 cals for milk, weetabix, banana
L Big chicken salad with low cal Caesar dressing
D Turkey bolognese & spaghetti
S Half of DS twix because apparently it was too sticky for him (weirdo), peanut butter on apple slices, tea

Prepared a big salad for work tomorrow so hoping for another good day.

Gordonsgrin · 09/09/2020 22:04

Keeping busy here, workIng, and caring for father-in-law, and looking out for my DS who is suffering with a mental illness. Anyway, sticking to plan and v proud, even managed w3r3 this eve.
Lunch Salad, feta cheese, corn pickle and two rice cakes
Supper, mushroom rissotto and red cabbage salad and hot chocolate drink for pud.

SistemaAddict · 09/09/2020 22:56

I want chocolate. And sleep.

Lovely1a2b3c · 10/09/2020 01:02
@Lovely1a2b3c no one is saying 9st2 is overweight.

We all started heavier and are at different points along the weight loss journey - some are just have the last few pounds, some are working hard on maintaining. It all depends on individual goals - and height!
I was just checking as I couldn't think of a height that 9st2 would be overweight for.

I don't think that most people can see the difference between 9st2 and 8st13 but obviously weight is a personal thing.

Please do try to enjoy being so slim though!

Octopus37 · 10/09/2020 06:57

Gordonsgin, sorry to hear you are having a hard time, you are amazing for even attempting healthy eating. Lovely you are right about nobody being able to tell the difference, it is a personal preference thing. For whats its worth, I'm not doing amazingly well, v tired (aren't we all), overwhelmed with things going on (aren't we all), not a lot of time, (again same for everyone) and I'm not managing to get it together to eat very well at the moment. Met a friend for lunch yesterday, had a Mexican food bowl which had some healthy bits in but nothing else was. Lots of steps at the moment but I think that might just be balancing things out. Saying that, so tired this morning that I cant face breakfast. Hope everyone has a good day. Nearly at the end of the first week back at school for everyone, teachers and parents.

Heygirlheyboy · 10/09/2020 06:59

I get your point Lovely1a but as hangover says, it's a personal thing. When your clothes don't fit well and you know you're not 'yourself' it doesn't matter if the scales says you're sóim because you know it's not your usual self. Ibspejt most of my life, up to 3 years ago under 9 St and consistent emotional over eating changed it. I'm not aiming for underweight or being particularly restrictive, just want to feel like myself again.

Octopus37 · 10/09/2020 06:59

HoneyBadger, wasn't impressed with my Son, he still hasn't got his Xbox back, True Heygirl you couldnt make it up 9st1.75 this morning.

Gordon's gin you are amazing, that's a very tough station but I hope eating well is actually helping a little to make you feel you're at your best. I care for my own dad and I know how important it is and yet sometimes it is so hard and just j too much.
