Hello

Just where has August gone? People who joined the thread last month are reporting significant losses 👏👍🥇. In 4 short weeks I myself lost 9lbs.

Me personally? In the main it’s been a way of life for nearly 3 years and I’ve lost over 40lbs. I had a bit of blip at the start of C19. After all my hard work I just started eating with impunity. Before I knew it I was10lbs up in a few short weeks! I needed to get back on it and COVID proof myself 😬 I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with lite weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on this thread. We are in this together.

How do you plan to do it? What do you want to achieve? What excites you about your future self? Together, we can create a whole new you!

Jump in 😊. You’ll be glad you did this time next month 😀.

@FancyARoot well join me walking with Leslie Sansone, you can easily do 5K in 45 minutes just walking.

MrsJonesAndMe · 05/09/2020 07:05

Hello all

I'm feeling fragile and I didn't even run! Been walking rather quickly - especially yesterday as DS was on his bike so I was trying to keep him in sight. Reckon I'm doing about 5m a day at the moment. Today will be much more sedate as there are errands to do and the house to clean.

Have a good weekend.

FancyARoot · 05/09/2020 07:18

Thanks! I’ll start logging my dog/child walking and see how far it is

Sazlock · 05/09/2020 08:52

Morning and thanks for the welcome 🙂
It’s really good seeing what everyone is up to and planning.
Food logging helps me too so yesterday ( I’m doing IF)
Lunch - 2 hard boiled eggs, tomatoes, 2 slices bread and tsp mayo
Snacks - Apple, sq of dark choc
Dinner - chicken, salad, pot salad, lentils, feta, olives and beetroot. Fruit and a chocolate brownie.....
Drinks - water and decaf tea
One of my bestest friends over last night for the first time in 6 months and there was a lot of alcohol involved but I’m mostly alcohol free at the moment (after realising it was becoming a habit in lockdown !!) so managed to swerve that !
I got to week 7 of C25k about 2 months ago then buggered my knees up doing a 5k 🙄🙄🙄 because I wanted to do a virtual park run so I’ve not run since.
My goal for this week is to get back on the treadmill at some point in the C25k programme. I’d like to complete it this time 🙂
I’ve started by charging up my watch again to see how many steps I’m doing at the moment and it’s pitiful, so other goal is to actually move more each day !!
Have a good weekend all

Gordonsgrin · 05/09/2020 10:25

Hello @Sazlock, I am a newbie too! I am just like you I was running until Injured my knee about a year go. I just restarted c25k, I started at the second week, decided to do it gradually and doing some knee exercises to avoid injury. Well that’s the plan.

Sazlock · 05/09/2020 12:12

Hello @Gordonsgrin - good luck. I’m going to start again on Monday and see how I go. Not sure what week to start back on though !

TheRealHousewife · 05/09/2020 13:00

Good Afternoon Everyone

Gosh what a busy forum this is turning into. I’ll read and respond later as we are due to go out now.

A quick hello and welcome to the new comers 😊

Take care and have a great Saturday!

worldweary45 · 05/09/2020 17:36

Saturday is my weigh in day so I can have a cooked breakfast straight after

2lb down this week which I'm really pleased about as I haven't moved much this week

I did however go for a 17k walk today to make up for it

My knees are feeling the hills now though!

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 05/09/2020 17:49

Hello all, been a mixed kind of day.

Food and exercise have been good, all on track.

Went into town (chaos) and then tried to donate blood but like the proverbial stone my veins were not giving it up.

Also bought some new scales, not Bluetooth all singing all dancing, just a pair of salter ones. Apparently they'll tell me lots of things if I can figure out how to programme them but I only really care about the weight. Also figured out why my old ones may be a tad inaccurate, turns out 2 of the balancing feet have gone missing at some point in the last 10 years.

Just stood on them to compare and they're 2 lbs different to the old ones so I'm gonna call it a win. And steal that 2 lbs for my weight loss tracker Grin

SunshineCake · 05/09/2020 18:18

Good idea *@TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 Grin.

I'm feeling really bleurgh at the moment. Been for an eye test and the different lessons made me feel nauseous so I think it is that. Hope it passes soon. As we had to go into town dh and I decided to use our Christmas restaurant gift card and went to Nando's. Nice meal, good service, felt okay, first time out in probably a year. Probably won't go to town again unless I really have to. People not following the keep left signs, standing too close, not cleaning hands when going in shops, wearing their masks on their chins Hmm. Just not enjoyable anymore.

Decided I will have to save running for when DS1 can take DS2 to school and the rest of the time I will do 25km on the bike. Next run is meant to be tomorrow so I might be able to do that. Every now and then I should miss a day to give my knee a rest. Really hoping this Wednesday's weigh in means I have lost a whole stone since running.

fallfallfall · 05/09/2020 19:14

loosing a whole stone would be wonderful @SunshineCake.
have you thought of using an ice pack on your knee after the run? i wonder if it would help for the next run iykwim, or an anti inflammatory?
poking along over here, all is well enough.

MislaidMyBrain · 05/09/2020 19:48

This evening was hard as kids wanted a take away. I normally nick some chips but today I could not.
I just had chick pea masala (home made) instead. Which was really nice so I’m glad I didn’t take any chips.

I find that with hindsight, I’m always so glad I stuck to my diet and get really angry with myself If I don’t. It’s just really hard when you’re in that moment where there’s lovely food there and you want to have some. I have to keep reminding myself of that.

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 05/09/2020 20:32

DH decided to rent Cats on Amazon as he said it's one of those historically bad films that we just had to see it. I've given up 10 mins in. Never done any hard drugs but I think that is what it must feel like!

Notasyoungasiwas · 05/09/2020 20:40

Hi all - first Saturday of our new healthy eating and it's been good. Feeling positive . . and I had my hair cut for the first time in AGES!!

FancyARoot · 05/09/2020 20:46

@TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 I saw the trailer and that was enough for me! Well done for managing ten minutes!
What were they THINKING!?

@MislaidMyBrain I always feel the same if I give in to temptation....def worth sticking to the diet but SO hard for those ten minutes..! I always think what’s worse - ten minutes of desperately wanting chips now, or all evening of feeling crap for ruining my diet!

I’ve done ok today but feel like I’ve eaten loads.

B - weetabix
L - leftover chickpea and veg curry and a mini naan
D - chicken stir fry
S - small children’s ice cream (153), small bag animal biscuits (96), tea (40), mini can of Coke (65)

Total - 1403. So 3 over.

4 days in and not much scale movement. Think that’s age catching up. I’ll put my trust in physics and soldier on though.

SunshineCake · 05/09/2020 21:57

*@fallfallfall my knee is fine when running and then walking the dog but it is later when I am going upstairs that it hurts. On that basis when should I ice pack my knee?

I'm worried everything will go wrong if I can't run even if I can cycle, which I could every day Confused.

I've down loaded the app that *@TheRealHousewife mentioned for fasting logging and it is funny how I don't want to let an inanimate app down by eating once I've clicked start fast and it's better than whatever food I think I want.

fallfallfall · 05/09/2020 22:01

@SunshineCake, try after the run and see if it make a difference later on in the day? i have one that's on a stretchy band and i can wrap it and be slightly up and about.

HereIgoagainagain · 06/09/2020 07:42

Good morning all

I am not doing very well on my losing weight mission and today needs to be different.
Today I am going to
Drink more water
Meal plan and shop for the week
Not sure I will get my 10000 steps done as I have a lot of things that need to be done at home and I have a cold so couch to 5k is out of the window today .
I am going to stick to 16:8 today and prepare healthy food to take into work tomorrow.
I need some soup recipes if anyone has any they would be happy to share?

Good luck everyone!

SunshineCake · 06/09/2020 07:49

Thanks *@fallfallfall.

Good luck today *@HereIgoagainagain.

I'm waiting for my watch to charge as I either forget to turn the socket on or someone turned it off again. I'm not happy as I could have been running by now and if it isn't quick doggy will wake up and start shouting. Already one of my cats is watching me through the door and wondering why I'm not feeding him. Everyone else is asleep and I'm trying to keep it that way.

monkeytennis97 · 06/09/2020 07:50

I'll jump on board if that's ok. I've lost 59lbs since mid March and have about another 30 to go. I'm currently the lightest I've been in about 15 years but in the past have always struggled with comfort eating when the weather gets colder and longer nights... easy to eat salads etc in the summer!

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 06/09/2020 08:06

Good morning you wonderful lot. Was doing some calculations and I have 17lbs to lose to get into the 'overweight' category. I'm really hoping I can do that by Xmas. It would be a present to.myself and would be the first time I've not been obese since I was 11 years old (yes eleven).

rivierliedje · 06/09/2020 08:18

I weighed in yesterday and had put on a pound. Hmm
I feel really uncomfortable with how my body feels at this size, which isn't great.
My partner is feelign similar, so maybe we have drifted in to unhealthy habits.

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 06/09/2020 09:11

Hello @monkeytennis97 you've lost loads!

I know what you mean about winter. I'm thinking of ways to get the comfort without the carbs and calories.

Veg/chicken soups and casseroles without potatoes/bread for dunking are low carb, filling and meet the comfort food requirement so I think they'll play a big part in my diet.

I've found the longer I'm low carb the less I feel like snacking which is proving very helpful in keeping my calories down. Now it's just about finding more crispy textured things as that's where I tend to fall down and reach for a bag of crisps or some crackers with butter and cheese.

FancyARoot · 06/09/2020 09:32

What are everyone’s thoughts on having one ‘day off’ a week? I don’t mean a day of bingeing, but just eating ‘normally’ without weighing things, and having a slice of cake if you want!?

Last time I lost weight I was rigidly strict. The weight fell off and I was 8st7lbs by the end. But then, I think because I’d been so strict, I had no moderation once I started relaxing things a bit. And it’s nearly all gone back on 👎🙄

Today DH is making a roast dinner and crumble. I’m considering a day off but is this right or not!?

It’s all such a minefield :(

TheRealHousewife · 06/09/2020 09:35

Good Morning All

Started out sunny this morning, washer on to make the most of it and now it’s clouding over and looks like rain (fine weather was forecast).

Anyways ... yesterday ended up being OMAD which is always a bonus. Today will also be OMAD as Sunday’s generally are.

I had a nice surprise yesterday when I tried on a fitted size 10 skirt. It was positively roomy. Wore it with knee highs and opaque tights and shearling gilet. I love the cosiness of autumn/winter clothes.

@SunshineCake we were on the same wave length ... I made a fruit & nut cake (for family not me) with dried fruit I’d had the cupboard since Christmas. I bet it feels great to be in a more normalised routine with the children going back etc. You’re doing fantastic on the exercise front. Fingers crossed 🤞 for the stone milestone!

Pulls up @Foreverlexicon Hop back on! We missed you! Commiserations for the comp.

Welcome @Gordonsgrin @Sazlock @monkeytennis97

@dexterslockedintheshedagain baking is the devil 😈 Bowl licking indeed 😬 Good luck with your weigh in/measurements.

@worldweary45 well done on being measured in Wagamama!

@TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 That’s fantastic progress, normal blood pressure! 😮. Hope you’ve reattached that leg of yours 😅

@RubySlippers77 Welcome back lovie .... or should I call you Lynn? 😅

@fallfallfall great session of exercise. People are doing so well!

@HereIgoagainagain. Do you like cauliflower? I’ll post a recipe later.

@rivierliedje It’s so easy to stray. Perhaps re-evaluate why you’re on this journey and reaffirm with yourself what you need to do to meet your goals. Putting on a 1lb, albeit disappointing, isn’t the end of the world. Weight loss isn’t linear, it fluctuates. Hormones, illness, meds, etc all affect how we hold and carry weight. If your diet has become carby it’s most probably water weight. It’ll soon be gone.

I’ve a bit on this morning but will be back later to share some soup recipes. Have a great day and whatever you’re doing do it with gusto!
