Hello

Just where has August gone? People who joined the thread last month are reporting significant losses 👏👍🥇. In 4 short weeks I myself lost 9lbs.

Do you too want to lose weight? Feel fitter? Get healthier? Feel happier?

You’ve come to the right place!

Me personally? In the main it’s been a way of life for nearly 3 years and I’ve lost over 40lbs. I had a bit of blip at the start of C19. After all my hard work I just started eating with impunity. Before I knew it I was10lbs up in a few short weeks! I needed to get back on it and COVID proof myself 😬 I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with lite weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on this thread. We are in this together.

How do you plan to do it? What do you want to achieve? What excites you about your future self? Together, we can create a whole new you!

Jump in 😊. You’ll be glad you did this time next month 😀.

Thanks *@MislaidMyBrain. I don't think I can change much but will think about it.

My plan is to do 25km on the bike every day for a week. Partly to rest my knees, partly as it is easier to fit it in than the running on some days now I'm back doing a school run every morning and two school runs in the afternoon and also as an experiment to see if it helps kickstart losses again. I cycle for an hour which is how long I run for but the calorie burnt is more. First time I burnt 1000 but last time was just 645 ish.

*@MrsJonesAndMe weigh after hair cut, that has to count for something.

BTW yesterday was my 60th run.

fallfallfall · 09/09/2020 16:10

Market day and an early start for me. I’ll weigh in tomorrow.
It makes me smile to read about the losses and even those who stayed the same! Well done.
I too tend to search online for clues and motivation when in a weight loss slump.
I’ve heard a couple reasons: exercise makes you hungry and you eat more, exercise tires you out and you burn less the remaining hours of the day.

FancyARoot · 09/09/2020 17:07

@TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 love the belt idea!!

I’m still in awe of all the exercisers! I’m going to go riding tomorrow but that’s as exercisey as I get 😂 I do live on a farm though so I suppose I stay faaaairly active.....but I do wish I was a better exerciser!

@MrsJonesAndMe my post-lockdown haircut felt AMAZING! Enjoy!

fallfallfall · 09/09/2020 17:13

@FancyARoot, I need to learn how to make better use of my veggie beds. Amazing fresh produce here this morning. Some of the vendors sell to the grocery stores. But it’s nice to see them fresh from the ground.

SunshineCake · 09/09/2020 18:53

I've done my 25km on the bike. Did half before the afternoon school room and the the other half afterwards. Hoping it still counts and I burnt 1006 calories.

I've been wondering if this is my usual 1 stone block. Previously I would lose a stone then no more but it might have been because I gave up. I thought my body was getting used to less food.

This time I am doing all this exercise and I can't eat less really.

I'm feeling happy with myself. My size 12 jeans are lose, my tummy is much smaller, I feel and look a lot better and I have lost a decent amount of weight.

MislaidMyBrain · 09/09/2020 19:17

@SunshineCake I’m glad you’re more upbeat and those are fab things to be pleased about.

Not quite the better day I had in mind but I got very stressed today and I think that just hinders things. Anyway, my food for the day was
Flapjack
Half an apple
Vegetable wrap
Some chocolate.

I need to be able to manage my stress and it head for sugar to soothe me. Any ideas?

MislaidMyBrain · 09/09/2020 19:18

That should say not head for sugar to soothe me.

I’ll be so upset if I end up undoing all my good work. I think I’ll have a fast day tomorrow to help me stay on track.

SunshineCake · 09/09/2020 19:23

I think your meals were fine *@MislaidMyBrain. I used to think chocolate would make things better but have managed to switch my mindset to sugar isn't good for me, is fake energy boost and I try water first incase I am thirsty but at least it works as a distraction.

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 09/09/2020 19:32

@MislaidMyBrain is it chocolate you want or sweet?

I started off by substituting 'sweet' for full fat Greek yoghurt with a teaspoon of maple syrup and some pecans, now I just have the yoghurt plain as not craving sweet as much.

The maple syrup is very very sweet so really nice when mixed in with the yoghurt and the full fat dairy and pecans make it filling so you don't get peckish straight after.

Today

B - nothing
L - green beans, asparagus, wafer thin chicken, fresh egg spaghetti, salt, pepper and a sprinkle of cheese
D - beef casserole and garden peas

S - full fat Greek yoghurt and 2x skinny iced lattes.

fallfallfall · 09/09/2020 23:05

@MislaidMyBrain, i've mentioned it before and maybe it's something only available here but i have access to calorie free/gluten free chocolate tea (made from cocoa bean hulls) www.intriguechocolate.com/products/fortunato-4-cocoa-beans#:~:text=Cacao%20hulls%3A%20This%20is%20the,%2D%20or%20addition%20%2D%20to%20coffee.
it helps a lots when i need help.
B-oatmeal with apple sauce and honey ;)
L-cheese and lettuce sandwich (half) on dh's organic spelt bread.
S.....dare i admit to several wine gum candies
D-burger with carmelized onions.
oh and yes i have some bakery item for desert

SunshineCake · 10/09/2020 07:01

*@TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 I was the same weight this morning as yesterday and was a bit disappointed. So I took your advice and got out the tape measure. I can't find my written measurements for my thighs and tummy but from what I can remember from the start to now I am 4 inches less on my tummy and three off my thighs. This isn't on top of the loss I have posted about before as that would be about five off my thighs Grin.

About to walk the dog then go out for my appointment which means two lots of ten minute walk after at least an hour with the dog and then later I'll do 25 km on the bike.

New recipe for dinner - Bombay potato curry. I won't have the rice or naan and will pick spinach to go with mine.

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 10/09/2020 08:12

That's most definitely some good progress @SunshineCake And proof positive that scales do t always tell the whole story!

Just remembered one of my old tricks about chocolate thanks to @fallfallfall I don't know if we can get the cocoa tea you've posted, but when I was in 'chocolate desperation' mode, I used to have one of those Options hot chocolates that are really low cal, the mint one was relish. Need to add that to my shopping list for this week!

Foreverlexicon · 10/09/2020 09:53

Hi all
I have to admit I’m not particularly trying at the moment. I’m eating okay and gyming when I can but I could be eating better.

I will probably try to lose the next 7lb after my holiday.

Keep going everyone, you’ve got this

MislaidMyBrain · 10/09/2020 11:59

Thanks everyone. The chocolate tea sounds good. I think I’ve seen something in M&S which is tea made with cocoa nibs? I’ll go and have a look.
The yoghurt sounds good but I’m avoiding dairy as it gives me spots.

@SunshineCake fab results there! Well done.

I forgot it’s my birthday today so no diet for me today.

I’m not going overboard. I’ve still not had anything to eat yet but Dd wants to bake me a cake after school and we’re getting a takeaway tonight.
I’m having a little family ‘party’ (just dh, Dcs and me) after school which is nibbles - crisps and dips so I’ll have a few of those.
I sprinkled some chocolate powder on my coffee this morning Grin I know how to treat myself.

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 10/09/2020 12:51

Happy birthday @MislaidMyBrain.

It's mine on Sunday and I'm having carrot and walnut cupcakes with cream cheese frosting no matter what MyFitnessPal says!

Hope you have a fab day CakeThanks

MislaidMyBrain · 10/09/2020 15:45

Thank you @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50. Your cupcakes sound amazing.

Trisolaris · 10/09/2020 18:13

Afternoon all. I just did W2 R3 of C25k. I didn’t sleep well last night so I found this the hardest run so far. I’m on my period so I’m not weighing as it will just depress me. Out to dinner tonight but planning to choose a healthy option and no alcohol (maybe share a dessert with dp though!)

SunshineCake · 10/09/2020 18:35

Happy birthday *@MislaidMyBrain. Calorie free 🧁

I've had a very stressful afternoon so I'm having a glass of wine and some ice cream and I'm not going to feel bad about it. Hard morning at my appointment too. I have walked the dog and done just over 25km on the bike.

SunshineCake · 10/09/2020 18:37

Enjoy *@Trisolaris. DH and I shared a starter when we had lunch out and didn't feel deprived.

Hi *@Foreverlexicon. Keep doing what you are doing Smile.

FatGirlShrinking · 10/09/2020 19:44

Hello, it's Torys with a name change, seeing as revocation won't ever happen I've decided to go with something more appropriate and hopeful.

Today hasn't been fab, not feeling very well and stressed at work. Food has been a secondary consideration, have eaten because I'm supposed to rather than because I was hungry.

B - nothing
L - mushrooms, spring onions, sliced chicken breast
D - spaghetti with dolmio stir in and some bacon

FancyARoot · 10/09/2020 19:54

Like the change @FatGirlShrinking! Grin

I’ve had a crap day. I’m due on, starting with a cold, and tired. So obviously I’ve eaten loads. That’ll make it all better HmmHmmnaaaaaaat! Grin

But tomorrow is another day. I’m past the point of beating myself up. I’ve got a good day planned food wise, and I’m planning a long long walk in the morning 💪💪

RubySlippers77 · 10/09/2020 20:06

Sorry all, haven't RTFT yet but sending good wishes to everyone

@MislaidMyBrain, there is a salted caramel green tea (I think by Twinings) which is nice for a sweet fix? They have a gingerbread one too.

Hope you're feeling better now @SunshineCake

Zero progress here as the DC still aren't at school properly and I am frankly bad tempered and exhausted. Did anyone else whose DC are now older feel like this?! I've done 5 years without a day off - literally never had a full day without the DC thanks to DP being far more useless than I ever thought he would be - and I can't wait till they're at full time school just so I can have a break at last (although who knows how long it will be for!!). And then I feel bad that I'm not making the most of my last time with them before school and that I shouldn't be so desperate for them to go, but honestly, I am on my knees with tiredness and utterly fed up with their constant bloody squabbling.

I feel a bit better now if still fat

Love your new username @FatGirlShrinking!

SunshineCake · 10/09/2020 21:20

At least your food choices were good ones, @FatGirlShrinking aka @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50

Nice positive mindset there *@FancyARoot Star.

Thanks *@RubySlippers77. Feeling tired so gone to bed and hope tomorrow will be less eventful and less knackering.

I really feel for you with little ones and a useless partner. I'd kick his arse if I could be in the mean time please talk to him. Make him see that while he's dicking about the woman he loves is running in empty and his children are learning not to go to daddy for anything nor to rely on him for a thing. He is also teaching them how men treat their partners..

MislaidMyBrain · 10/09/2020 23:19

@SunshineCake thank you though unfortunately the cake wasn’t calories free. Neither was the takeaway. Enjoyable though.

@FatGirlShrinking very apt Smile

@RubySlippers77 thanks. I’ll check out that tea. I think i need to be living off tea for thenext week to make up for the food I had today.
Sorry you’re having a hard time. It’s exhausting looking after young children by yourself and having a useless dp is an energy suck too. Don’t feel guilty. It’ll be half term soon and you can have your little darlings back home again.

FatGirlShrinking · 11/09/2020 07:07

One of the benefits to feeling unwell is not fancying food, according to the scales I'm 2lb down from Wednesday, I have a feeling this will change but it's nice all the same. If I can keep the loss then it means I only have 1 stone left to lose to get out of the 'obese' category.
