Hello

Just where has August gone? People who joined the thread last month are reporting significant losses 👏👍🥇. In 4 short weeks I myself lost 9lbs.

Do you too want to lose weight? Feel fitter? Get healthier? Feel happier?

You’ve come to the right place!

Me personally? In the main it’s been a way of life for nearly 3 years and I’ve lost over 40lbs. I had a bit of blip at the start of C19. After all my hard work I just started eating with impunity. Before I knew it I was10lbs up in a few short weeks! I needed to get back on it and COVID proof myself 😬 I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with lite weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on this thread. We are in this together.

How do you plan to do it? What do you want to achieve? What excites you about your future self? Together, we can create a whole new you!

Jump in 😊. You’ll be glad you did this time next month 😀.

Thank you *@rivierliedje. I think the win for me when I stopped eating the doughnut was knowing I am not the dustbin and I don't have to eat anything I don't want too. I wasn't fed as a kid so have had issues and really hate waste but I am finally valuing myself so..Shock. And DD liked them so she had the share half and they are only small ones so I was fine with her having 1.5.

Today I ran 8.45km and was a bit disheartened that my weight has stayed the same for six days after a two pound loss. I just said oh well, and decided it is my turn for a whoosh! Grin. I missed a few days on the bike so am back doing that.

Running after the school run wasn't ideal so next time I will try school run, dog walk then run and see how that goes.

Have a good day everyone.

SunshineCake · 08/09/2020 11:55

@rivierliedje I was just eating 12.30-8.30pm but since I started using the app that @TheRealHousewife recommended I do 16 or 18 hour fasts and stop eating earlier in the day. I find that I have dinner and that is it. Before I would eat something else, even if just fruit, at 8pm ish just because whereas now I'm finding I don't need it and I am motivated.

dexterslockedintheshedagain · 08/09/2020 12:14

@SunshineCake I'm in awe that you ran 8.45k. Not to mention jealous! Never been a runner-can walk for hours/miles, but run? JOG ON!!🤣

SunshineCake · 08/09/2020 12:18

Thank you. It has given me so much confidence. I'm still not speedy but have got faster since I started.

Notasyoungasiwas · 08/09/2020 16:27

So, first weigh in this morning and I've lost 4.7lbs - I'm over the moon!!

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 08/09/2020 16:50

Wowee, well done @Notasyoungasiwas that's a great loss.

@SunshineCake you'll be signing yourself up to a marathon next, you're doing remarkably well with your running!

fallfallfall · 08/09/2020 17:06

Wow @Notasyoungasiwas! Steady as she goes.

dexterslockedintheshedagain · 08/09/2020 17:40

@Notasyoungasiwas
That's excellent! Well done!

MislaidMyBrain · 08/09/2020 17:46

Thanks for the article @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50. It’s all really interesting.
Over 8km is an amazing run @SunshineCake. Well done.
Amazing weight loss result @Notasyoungasiwas. Keep going Smile

I’ve had a bad day today. I’ve been feeling a bit off lately. Low in energy, constipation (ahem) and I had to go out shopping. I was v tired and got hungry so I thought I’d have day off. I didn’t go crazy but ate bad carbs. So just to note it down to draw a line under it, I had
Nut and corn crispy snack thing
3 pieces of sushi
Flatbread
Mushroom omelette
Some crisps
An apple
Rice and chickpeas.

Tomorrow, I’ll start making some good choices again.

Trisolaris · 08/09/2020 18:02

Well done @Notasyoungasiwas on your loss and @SunshineCake on your run!

I’ve just done W2 R2 of C25k and pushed myself for a faster run this time so I’m feeling good.

Weight is fluctuating a lot this week but I’m premenstrual so I’m not going to stress about it and just keep doing what I’m doing!

SunshineCake · 08/09/2020 19:30

Well done *@Notasyoungasiwas. That is brilliant! You must be delighted.

Thank you for all your well done son my running. Suddenly 10km doesn't seem as ridiculous as it did a few weeks ago. I was meant to be only going up 100m a time and not 1/2 km. it today I did a slightly different run and I did longer. But no, won't get to a 26 mile marathon!

*@MislaidMyBrain I didn't think your food choices were bad! All the food groups.

Good work *@Trisolaris. I started off with C25k in May.

MislaidMyBrain · 08/09/2020 20:20

I just had some chocolate too just now. Oh well, in for a penny, in for a pound Smile
I will report back a better day tomorrow. Hope everyone else does too.

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 08/09/2020 20:32

I'm not having a hungry day today.

B - 2 x emmi skinny iced latte drinks
L - green beans, asparagus, spring onions and 3 slices of wafer thin chicken
D - skinless grilled chicken breast, with a handful of oven chips

Just tried to complete my food diary on MFP and it told me off for not having enough calories as comes in at around 800 but I'm not hungry so that's that.

Will probably make up for it tomorrow as it's an exercise day so I'll want snacks.

FancyARoot · 09/09/2020 06:42

Just weighed in and I’m 2lbs down on my first week. Cautiously optimistic that I will keep sticking to it.....but we’ll see!

Good luck everybody else!

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 09/09/2020 06:57

Start of this weight loss journey was 29/01/2020 at 233lb, BMI 35.4
26/08/2020 - 220lb, BMI 33.4
02/09/2020 - 218lb, BMI 33.1
09/09/2020 - 213lb, BMI 32.4

5lb loss this week (2lb of that is due to new scales)
7lb loss this month
20lb loss total since starting

FancyARoot · 09/09/2020 07:12

Well done @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50!! That’s amazing!

Galvantula · 09/09/2020 09:38

Hello, eventually got round to popping in for WOW.

Sitting at 58.9kg now so pretty happy with maintaining the wee loss from last month.

Need to catch up on all the busy chat!

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 09/09/2020 09:44

Thanks @FancyARoot well done to you too! You're in it now, keep slogging on!

I just tried to do C25k not thinking about the fact I'd been doing the mummy thing all morning and had forgotten to eat, only made it half way through before having to just walk the rest as too knackered. Still got in a good walk though, so not a totally lost cause.

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 09/09/2020 09:53

I really like my tracker today, I've decided its my favourite ever spreadsheet. I really hope I like it next week too :D

MislaidMyBrain · 09/09/2020 11:38

Well done everyone.
My weight was 11st 5lbs today. I’m pleased with that as I was bang on 12st 2 weeks ago. I was hoping to do the ‘lose a stone in 3 weeks’ plan but I doubt I’ll lose 5lbs this week so I might revise it to ‘lose a stone by the end of September’

SunshineCake · 09/09/2020 12:08

Well done to *@FancyARoot - great start!

*@TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 brilliant! I can only dream of a half a stone loss per month.

I think maintaining is still a win *@Galvantula

Well done *@MislaidMyBrain.

Sorry to let everyone down. Having being great at going from

165.8 on 29/08 to 11 stone 163.8 on 2/9. I stayed that weight until yesterday. Today for WOW I am 164.6. Feel a bit down but trying not to let it upset me too much but I am disappointed.

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 09/09/2020 12:13

@SunshineCake I think you need to move to measurements as your weight tracker rather than scales.

You're doing so much exercise with your running and cycling I would be willing to bet money you're shrinking in size and increasing your muscle mass.

Remember that muscle is denser than fat so a lb of muscle takes up less space.

If you don't fancy getting the tape measure out, how about finding an old belt, wrapping it round your waist and making a mark on it. Do that every week or 2 and see how your mark moves.

SunshineCake · 09/09/2020 12:47

I think I have lost 3 inches off my tummy since I started running but I want smaller scale numbers Grin.

MislaidMyBrain · 09/09/2020 12:50

@SunshineCake I can understand that disappointment. It’s disheartening.
Use that disappointment to channel a more fighting spirit and defeat it. Figure out if you need to make any adjustments to your diet and exercise regimes or routine and get going.
Watching some motivational videos on YouTube helps me to get back on that wagon too.

MrsJonesAndMe · 09/09/2020 13:15

Hi just a quick pop in. Life incredibly busy and no balance - just rushing and stressing. I hope that at the end of next week that will be a bit calmer.

WOW 10kg (total loss) so gained a bit, but will have to live with it for now. Haircut booked for Friday, hoping no one comes down with anything before then - it's been about 7 months!
