Me personally? In the main it’s been a way of life for nearly 3 years and I’ve lost over 30lbs. I had a bit of blip at the start of C19. After all my hard work I just started eating with impunity. Before I knew it I was10lbs up! I needed to get back on it and COVID proof myself 😬 I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with light weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on this thread. We are in this together.

How do you plan to do it? What do you want to achieve? What excites you about your future self? Together, we can create a whole new you!

Jump in 😊. You’ll be glad you did this time next month 😀.

Thank you very much @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 for your comments and the spread sheet help. DH was going to show me how to do one today but I'll have a look at your link first.

Well done on your exercise too. We all have to start somewhere. I would never have believed in May that I could run as far as I can for as long as I can now.

Aurorie11 · 13/08/2020 18:58

Kept up the activity today went for a walk early, then met up with some friends with the kids and walked another 3 miles. So 20,000 steps today - wouldn’t happen if I was working!
B - yogurt, didn’t have much time after walk and then needing to sort a picnic
L - turkey and beetroot sandwich, satsuma and a small slice of homemade cake one of my friends brought along
D - breaded chicken, 6 miniature boiled potatoes, mixed salad covering half the plate and a squeeze of salad cream.
Trying to resist evening snacking again, which is habit rather than hunger driven

SunshineCake · 13/08/2020 19:43

*@Aurorie11 DH and I would eat in the evening just for fun. I would often complain there wasn't enough time in the day, or meals, to eat everything I wanted to have. Then we went through a stage where the unnecessary supper meal would be our dinner. Now I don't eat past 8.30 and while sometimes I do have something else sooner than I might want because the window is closing, more often than not it is a bowl of fruit.

L x 4 seeded Ryvita type crackers with seeded houmous. Mini double decker.
Snack - 6 squares of chocolate and a chocolate bar in two snacks. On top of the double decker Blush.
D - duck, home made wedges. Raspberries and lace free cream and ice cream. Forgot the salad as DH cooked.

Not sure this is a good day. My excuse for the chocolate is it was therapy day Hmm.

MrsJonesAndMe · 13/08/2020 21:52

Good day @Aurorie11!

(((hugs))) @SunshineCake My excuse is that I seem to be having period 3 since 4th July Confused

Thank Crunchie it's Friday tomorrow...

Aurorie11 · 13/08/2020 22:01

Mmmm crunchie @MrsJonesAndMe Grin

fallfallfall · 14/08/2020 04:15

home, lovely visit.
food wise on the Wednesday i should have showed more restraint. 4 slices of pizza for supper (and no salad present) but walked over 26,000 steps...all on totally flat ground...not one iota of cardio!
ready to get back into my routine.
B store bought boxed cereal, with fresh strawberries and whole milk
S some black licorice and a 1/2 oz of cheddar (two separate occasions)
L 1/2 toasted bagel and whipped cream cheese with lots of cut up veggies
D our usual huge salad with about 4-5 oz of bbq chicken breast (boneless skinless) and a 1/2 corn on the cob (yes with salt and butter) oh and some watermelon.
8,000 steps and 30 minutes biking and hope to fit in a leslie walk walk walk.

SunshineCake · 14/08/2020 08:11

Morning all.

I'm cross. DH did me a spread sheet but I can't have colours on my weight column unless I weigh every day. Just weighed and I am up 0.8lb since yesterday. I know it's neither here nor there but I'm still miffed. I'm going back to weighing after three runs.

Will chat and answer after I've showered and stopped sulking

Btw I just ran 6.01km..

TheRealHousewife · 14/08/2020 09:20

Good Morning

@SunshineCake You’re welcome 😊 In regards to your weight up slightly. I’m the same this morning as I’ve seen about an increase of .9lb. I’ve put it down to natural fluctuations as I’ve been totally on track. In regards to your spreadsheet, it’s beauty is in the long term when you can see the downward trends. I know you’re a worrier but please don’t fret about gaining a little. Weight loss isn’t linear and it’s totally natural for it to bob about a slightly. You’re doing great!

@fallfallfall great to hear you enjoyed your visit! Good for the soul.

Oh *@MrsJonesAndMe that is a bit rubbish. Make sure you replace the iron you are losing.

I think that is all good *@fallfallfall even if without salad. Plenty of positive mental health points.

Thanks *@TheRealHousewife. I have stopped sulking now as I ran 6kmGrin. I am starting to think I could do 10 Shock.

MalmseyWhine · 14/08/2020 14:28

Hello again

After saying I wanted to post for accountability, I completely dropped off the radar but I'm back with positive news!

27/7 - 243lbs
14/8 - 238.4lbs

Am happy with that 4lb loss in 4 weeks. I am following 16:8, nothing else and not calorie counting or cutting out anything particularly. I have had a couple of days where I have drunk alcohol, been to BBQs, eaten out but have religiously stopped eating at 7pm and only had water until the following day at 11am (apart from 1 evening when I had a diet coke). The hotter weather has helped as my appetite has reduced and we've not really been eating full meals in the evening, but I do think I get fuller more quickly and am not all hungry in the evening or first thing.

Reading back, I am very inspired by all of you that maintain a running routine. Now that the weather is cooler I do need to make sure I am more active.

Sunshine Cake, I am very sorry about your Guinea Pig.

SunshineCake · 14/08/2020 18:29

Well done *@MalmseyWhine and thank you. I keep thinking about what he needs then go oh..

I started couch to 5K in May and while I'm not sure I was running five k by the end as my phone isn't accurate I have a fancy fitness watch now and know I am and today I did six k.

fallfallfall · 14/08/2020 18:39

Well done sunshine on 6K!!

SunshineCake · 14/08/2020 19:04

Smile.

Aurorie11 · 14/08/2020 20:41

B - nothing didn’t feel hungry
L - half a carton of soup, peach and about 20 peanuts
S - 2 coffees and 1 choc biscuit at a friends, had one to be polite as she’d bought them specially
D - Chinese fakeaway - 2 pancakes with duck and cucumber, 1 small dry rib, small portion of rice and 2 pieces of oven baked crispy chicken. An orange.
More than had over last week, but could have been loads worse, long walk again and just under 20,000 steps

rivierliedje · 14/08/2020 20:54

Today has been rotten.
I slept very poorly and woke up feeling wobbly. It is still oppressively foggy and muggy here. At work one of the lights in my room went out and couldn't be fixed today so I was working in gloom as well.
A patient made a complaint which made me feel rotten, so I spent most of the day feeling very wobbly and close to tears.
Breakfast was oatibix, soya yoghurt, half a banana and some sunflower seeds.
lunch: paella (all veg) I made last night and small orange
I bought and ate Blush two vegan doughnuts on my way home. And so far have had some frozen peas and a slice of homemade foccacia.
Also lots and lots of tea!
I didn't even go out for a walk this morning, but will go soon I think.

MrsJonesAndMe · 14/08/2020 20:55

Hi

Amazing work @SunshineCake You'll be running a marathon soon Wink

Well done for sticking to the window @MalmseyWhine it works!

Glad you're home @fallfallfall Walk walk walk Wink I did too

Sounds like you've done well @Aurorie11

I am taking a multi vit @sunshinecake. Hope it will do.

Hope you're OK @Foreverlexicon and having a great time away and same for @RubySlippers77. Still locked down @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50???

MrsJonesAndMe · 14/08/2020 20:56

Sounds pants @rivierliedje Sad Hard to shake off when someone says something horrible about you. Hope tomorrow is better...and you know what? Two donuts won't ruin all the other hard work you've put in!

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 14/08/2020 21:02

Oh @MrsJonesAndMe the farce that is #leicesterlockdown continues. Due to be reviewed today and Dept Health & Social care have advised they've pushed the review to next week!

Whatever, I'm over it for today.

Stuck to calories for the last 2 days, so fingers crossed for next weeks weigh in. Feeling very achy after doing my workout video yesterday, I have a dodgy knee and it's shouting at me today Grin

Had a really nice breakfast, 2 big field mushrooms with small slices of pepperoni and a little grated cheese on, salt & pepper, cooked in the oven till the cheese went bubbly.

rivierliedje · 14/08/2020 21:03

@TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 That spreadsheet looks great. I wonder if you would mind explaining how to make something similar?

Thanks @MrsJonesAndMe I know it won't especially as essentially it has replaced my dinner. I'll go for my planned run tomorrow morning and all will be well.

fallfallfall · 14/08/2020 21:06

My immune boost concentrate ready to go in the fridge.
B oatmeal with fruit compote
L 1/2 carrot, a couple pickles, 1/2 of a grilled cheese sandwich with our homemade sauerkraut and tomato soup.
S about a half dozen strawberries
D will be a half burger (local grass fed beef) and coleslaw/salad with extras.
I’ve got desert planed, scones at 250 calories each.
Now to get in my fluids and exercise.
Thought I’d post up my immune boosting concoction 😉

@rivierliedje you should be able to download it and save to your device, then just delete the dates (column a) lbs (column b) and difference (column f) and put your goal number into the goal box.

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 14/08/2020 21:09

@fallfallfall what's in the immune boost concentrate?

fallfallfall · 14/08/2020 21:16

@rivierliedje I worked as a nurse for over 30 yrs, soul and confidence destroying atmosphere. Head nurses and colleagues were brutal with feedback. Tears many many a time.
@TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 1 1/2 tsp of Tumeric powder, 1 1/2 Tbsp of maple syrup (honey would work better but this bee keeper is out!), juice of 1 1/2 lemons, and some freshly grated ginger. Dilute with water to measure 1pint. I then add to black tea or ice water.
The turmeric quickly separates so frequent stirring is necessary.

rivierliedje · 14/08/2020 21:20

@TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 THank you. I'm probably being obtuse, but where do you change the height so that BMI is calculated accurately? You are clearly much taller than i am!

fallfallfall · 14/08/2020 21:20

If you use an iPhone the blue heart (health app) that is free allows you to log in manually your weight.
Keeps it on file forever
