Me personally? In the main it’s been a way of life for nearly 3 years and I’ve lost over 30lbs. I had a bit of blip at the start of C19. After all my hard work I just started eating with impunity. Before I knew it I was10lbs up! I needed to get back on it and COVID proof myself 😬 I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with light weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on this thread. We are in this together.

How do you plan to do it? What do you want to achieve? What excites you about your future self? Together, we can create a whole new you!

Jump in 😊. You’ll be glad you did this time next month 😀.

Good Morning Ladies

@Aurorie11 Happy Birthday! Well done on being restrained.

@TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 fantastic loss! 🥇

@rivierliedje Great getting the exercise in. I struggle, especially in the heat. No excuse I need to move my butt more even when it’s hot! Do you have a link for the NHS stretch & flex pls?

I’m down a 1lb which takes my loss for the month so far to 4.1lb. Here’s hoping the scales behave and give the right results for you all!

My Stats
29/07/20 - 137.2 BMI 26.8
05/08/20 - 134.1 BMI 26.2
12/08/20 - 133.1 BMI 26.0

Hi everyone

Well done @fallfallfall sounds lovely.

@rivierliedje welcome and can I please have your lasagne recipe? Sounds prefect for me.

Well done Star @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50. That weight loss is amazing!!

A loss is a loss @TheRealHousewife. Great stuff.

I need my buddies today. I keep thinking I must check on piggy and then remembering Sad. He's left such a hole for a tiny little thing.

I have been running, did 5.6km. Weight is back down to my lowest when I dropped to a new stone level except for 0.4lb but I think we can forgive that.

Melting here! Desperate to carry on weeding the front lawn but dh says too hot. He has just gone out to take DS2 to school.

Foreverlexicon · 12/08/2020 12:27

I am up 2.4lb which I’m not too surprised about. So time for me to cut back a bit.

I am away Friday to Monday though and will eat whatever then - it’s my anniversary and we’re going camping on Dartmoor. Will be loads of hiking so will offset the food a bit.

MrsJonesAndMe · 12/08/2020 14:48

Wowzers @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 Grin fantastic Flowers

Has it really been a year @Foreverlexicon I guess so! Have a wonderful time, you two deserve it.

Great stuff @TheRealHousewife shows how consistency is key! my downfall

It's too hot for anything @SunshineCake which is directly in opposition with having to look after small children. The park was so hot (not shaded) and even sitting here keeping an eye on the paddling pool in the breeze is too much!

I'm 10.6kg/23.3lbs down from starting weight. Not sure if it's up or down. I'd need to go back through last week's posts and see. Not too fussed - just trying to survive!!

Take care all, you're doing great. Extra squish for @sunshinecake You'll get there

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 12/08/2020 15:17

I think at least 3lb of my loss this week is through sweating, I feel like a pig on a spit in this weather. At least I'm WFH so don't have to worry about dress code Grin

SunshineCake · 12/08/2020 16:42

Thanks @MrsJonesAndMe Flowers.

Does anyone have any idea how I could find my first post on these threads as I would like to know what I weighed when I started?

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 12/08/2020 16:59

@SunshineCake earliest I can find through advanced search is Jan 2020

SunshineCake · 12/08/2020 17:30

Thank you very much @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50. I had forgotten I had asked. The heat is melting my brain ! I will go and investigate and hope I'm lower than a year ago. Eek.

SunshineCake · 12/08/2020 17:40

One year and one week ago to today and I am 9.6 lbs lighter.

That isn't a very good result, especially as I know I have been losing the same half a stone quite a few times but, I haven't seen the number I see now on the scales for ages so...

This morning I had the stone on in two days panic again as I had dropped to the next stone down so the pounds were double figures instead if single, plus it was dark and I didn't have my glasses on so scared myself again!

I do not know why I can't just post my weight. Shame I guess and that isn't fair as you are all so kind and lovely and supportive.

SunshineCake · 12/08/2020 18:09

I have just read the whole of he first thread I was on and I feel in a better place emotionally than I was then.

@DrDiva and @MarvelMum were very kind to me but I haven't seen them for a while. Everyone else who was kind then and still are now, thank you Flowers.

rivierliedje · 12/08/2020 19:08

Today:
same oatibix breakfast
l: hummus rolls with 3 bean salad and tangerine
s: frozen banana(for some reason if you freeze an unpeeled and then wizz it in the blender it has the texture of ice cream) and some frozen peas
not had dinner yet and am about to go out for the couch to 5k week 2 run
@TheRealHousewife this is the fitness plan I am currently following. strength and flex is part of it and the other part is couch to 5k. I now there is an app for the running, but don't know if there is for the strength part. I can't get the running one because it's only available in the UK. I have just downloaded the podcasts to follow along to. It works well, I just can't listen to my own music/audiobook.

@SunshineCake
Sorry about your guinea pig. I'm afraid I didn't make the lasagne, I came home from work to my partner having made it (yes I was chuffed), we're vegan and gluten free respectively but I'm sure it would work with normal lasagne:
gluten free lasagna sheets layered with buckwheat cooked in passata (watered down) and tomato puree and layers of vegan bechamel (gluten free flower, dairy free spread, soya milk and lots of nutritional yeast). That was it.

Aurorie11 · 12/08/2020 19:09

To distract me from evening snacking

B - porridge with raspberries
L - chicken and beetroot sandwich, just one slice of bread
D - 5 pieces of oven baked scampi, about 15 oven chips plus salad that filled half the plate and a drizzle of salad cream.

Done just over 20k steps, most of this was about 5.5 mile walk before it got too hot. Taking advantage of a week off work to kick start

SunshineCake · 12/08/2020 19:24

Thank you @rivierliedje. Is buckwheat wheat? I'm intolerant to wheat. I have bought buckwheat flour but have no clue what it is. Thank you for your kindness over my guinea pig. It still hasn't sunk in. I keep looking at where he would normally be Sad.

wizzler · 12/08/2020 19:58

Making myself go for a walk despite the heat. Eaten sensibly all day so need to keep up with the exercise

rivierliedje · 12/08/2020 20:26

@SunshineCake Buckwheat is not wheat and is naturally gluten free. (I'm always getting it confused with bulgar wheat that is wheat and thus has gluten).

I went for that run! and had a small helping of beans

Galvantula · 12/08/2020 20:28

Hello all. I forgot to weigh today. No one round here got much sleep after an extremely loud 10 hour storm overnight, with constant lightning and torrential rain. Shock

It only just stopped in time for the kids all walking to school. So many homes flooded in this region and neighbouring ones :(

First day of school seemed to go well though :)

SunshineCake · 12/08/2020 20:59

Well done @wizzler, don't forget your water.

@rivierliedje thank you very much and well done on your run.

We are due the storm tomorrow @Galvantula. Hope you are all safe.

rivierliedje · 12/08/2020 21:14

Hope everything is okay @Galvantula
Parts of Scotland look horrendously hit. It's really muggy and foggy here, we can't see the mountains at the moment because of the fog. I think there is meant to be a storm tonight

Galvantula · 12/08/2020 21:24

Still muggy and warm here too, hoping we're not in for too much more water though!

We are ok damage wise, but some houses nearby flooded badly. :(. The drive to work was a bit interesting, even sticking to the main roads - there was a dual carriageway that was only just passable in one spot causing massive tailbacks.

MrsJonesAndMe · 13/08/2020 06:41

Gosh @Galvantula I hope it stays dry now. Saw the train as well Sad

@SunshineCake it's better than 9 or 10lbs up overall (((hugs)))

Well done for all the exercise and good eating going on. I'm trying my best here, but also struggling with lack of sleep/heat/stress. Hoping tonight is cooler!

Have a good day all.

TheRealHousewife · 13/08/2020 08:30

Good Morning You Lovely Lot

Id say that’s a bloody well done @SunshineCake! Excellent. If you’d not been on it I’d estimate you would have been much much heavier. I’m similar to you.
For context I’ve just looked at my stats on MFP and on:-
12/08/19 = 10st. 17/08/19 = 10st 3.6lb. 28.08.19 = 10st 5.2lb.

Today I’m 9st 6.9lb. Like you I’ve lost & gained the same half stone multiple times. Highly frustrating. The drop from the 10stones to the 9s has only happened in the past few weeks. It’s hard @SunshineCake but with C19 and other health issues I’m determined to get to goal. I’m so proud of how far you have come! You’re awesome!

@wizzler @rivierliedje @Aurorie11 Well done on getting your exercise in! I didn’t yesterday as I was a melted puddle. Going to get some light weights in today. In fact when I’ve finished my coffee 😬 Thank you for inspiring me and the posted link 🙏

@Galvantula Hope you’re ok. I hope the rains have stopped. Stay safe on those drenched roads!

Today’s menu Miso soup for lunch and chicken & mozzarella salad fir dinner.

Have a good day all.

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 13/08/2020 11:52

I did week 1 day 1 of the 'our parks' NHS recommended couch to fitness programme yesterday and today.

It's a really basic cardio video 30 minutes but I'm so unfit i couldn't get to the end yesterday so repeated it today and managed with a couple of 30 second rest breaks to get through it.

Lessons

  • I am massively unfit
  • my body, particularly my shoulders is very tense and cannot bend in the ways there's do
  • my left thigh/knee is very weak.
  • I need to keep doing this programme and improve all of the above!
TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 13/08/2020 12:49

@SunshineCake you do not have to share your the numbers on the scales unless you want to.

If it helps, I created a spreadsheet (love a good spreadsheet!) which I use to track each week just so I can see how I'm doing.

I've put it into a google drive folder here, feel free to download and use that just for your own eyes if you think it would be useful.

SunshineCake · 13/08/2020 13:12

Thank you @TheRealHousewife. It means a lot to me everyone has stuck with me and I am always happy when I get a shout out by anyone Grin. Even though losing weight is very slow for me I have done really well with running almost every other day since May 9th and I have got better. I am making good food choices while still having crisps, sweets and chocolate and having an eating window works very well for me.
