Good luck @cricketmum84 got everything crossed for you today
Well done everyone - lovely to see not just successes but determination!
I'm down 2lb today (whoop) - 4 lb to go and I'll be 'only' overweight for the first time in many years

WhatALearningCurve · 17/08/2020 10:02

Morning all,

Good luck today @cricketmum84!

10 stone 0.25lb today

2.25 loss so i'm happy with that but I swear I've never hates 0.25lb more in my life ha.

Going to try and have a strict week this week to get my weight starting with a 9 which seeing as I've spent my adult life at 12 stone and above (mainly in the 13's) that's something I never thought i'd be able to say!

JessJonesJumps · 17/08/2020 12:04

Slightly up this morning but still in the 11s. I found some yoga workouts to pop music yesterday. They were great fun Grin Ive turned into someone who thinks yoga is fun - what's happened to me?!

I agree about all the different sizes in clothes. There's no consistency across my wardrobe. Last week I was wearing an old sundress that is a size 10. Yesterday it was size 14 jeans.

Ginflinger · 17/08/2020 13:35

Happy birthday @Shedtheload

I maintained, despite my 'startedtoloseweightPANIC' eating last week.

Have good weeks, all!

Ginflinger · 17/08/2020 13:37

ps @JessJonesJumps could you share yoga links - sounds fun!

JessJonesJumps · 17/08/2020 13:45

@ginflinger these are the ones I did yesterday. She has about 6 pop yoga videos. Some are quite fast but the individual exercises aren't that advanced iyswim. I recognised them all and I've only been doing yoga for approx 4 months.

bellajay · 17/08/2020 21:47

@cricketmum84 hope your interview went well today!

@Ginflinger I totally get the same thing, whenever I start losing too consistently a complete panic kicks in and I just have this insatiable urge to eat. It has made me realise how powerful the brain is when it comes to weight loss (and gain...) as even after identifying what’s happening I’m rarely able to change my behaviour. I’ve just been trying to limit the damage and make sure I get back on the horse straight after.

I’ve been losing the same kilo on repeat for the last little while but I’m now back on track and I’ve lost consistently the last few days. I’m finding at the moment that 1600 calories or below will usually keep me on a good track as long as I keep moving as much as I can. That probably sounds like loads to some of you but I was probably eating 2500+ on a regular basis before, plus as I’ve still got a lot to lose, my TDEE is pretty high. I’ll make the most of that while I can!

After a couple of weeks of losing the same kilo again and again I’ve had a fei

cricketmum84 · 18/08/2020 08:21

Nice little drop in weight today which means I've finally hit the 8 stone mark! My weight has been so up and down since August 1st (have attached screen shot from MFP) so it's nice to finally see a drop.

I had the loveliest dream last night, I dreamt I was swimming! I can actually remember the feeling as I stepped into the water and dipped my shoulders under 😂 how sad is that! We actually have a private pool locally that is hiring out to one family at a time exclusive use so I've just messaged them to see when the next available slot is.

Plan for today is
B - lots of water
L - toasted pitta and hummous topped with chilli and coriander
D - courgette, pea and spinach pasta in a lemon and mint creamy sauce from the dirty vegan cookbook. I'll make sure I mainly get the veg and not too much pasta

Interview went ok I think. I felt a bit on the back foot a few times though and was conscious I maybe talked to waffling point. I'll find out Thursday if I am through to the next stage.

Congratulations @cricketmum84! And how did the interview go?

JessJonesJumps · 18/08/2020 10:57

@cricketmum84 congrats! 8 stone is amazing! Have all the Flowers and all the Star and all the Gin to celebrate!

STS here. My laptop is being very temperamental and I'm on school run today but I'm going to carve out some time to ignore all the on-screen error messages and do some yoga.

Ruralbliss · 18/08/2020 11:43

Wow @cricketmum84 that's some great progress. You are an inspiration!

To all of you who are succeeding with weight loss can you please share what worked for you & is there anyone who has done Fast 800 for the full 12 weeks? How much weight did you loose?

I'm trying everything- mainly based on tips from here: not being scared of the feeling of being hungry, upping water intake, logging all food on MFP and trying to stick to 800 cals a day for three months. No booze, no sugar, no carbs. I have 4 stone to loose.

I lost 6lbs not 4lbs in my first week but this surely cant be expected from future weeks?

Shedtheload · 18/08/2020 12:32

Wow, 8 stone is amazing. That’s a whole person in weight. It’s so hard just to lose a relatively small amount of weight so you have done incredibly well to keep at it. I am in awe.

Shedtheload · 18/08/2020 12:41

Ruralbliss quite basic for me as I tend to fall off the wagon on formal diets.
-1700 cals a day which is about 80% of my TDEE (total daily energy expenditure). I am pescatarian so protein comes from egg, fish and tofu. Not cut any food group out but I try to eat whole foods and cook from fresh.

  • 10,000 steps per day on my Fitbit. Usually through a long walk in the morning and a bit of walking round the house.
  • in last month I have started doing a 20 min workout every other day with 6kg dumbbells.
  • I do 25 mins of yoga every day but my Fitbit says it’s not enough to even put me in the fat burning zone so I doubt it has any impact on my weight!

I have lost 34 lb in 20 weeks.

Can I also recommend this calculator: www.losertown.org/eats/cal_act.php

It’s almost scarily accurate. I put in my starting weight the other day and it said that in 20 weeks, I would lose 33 lb so it is almost exactly bang on. It’s great for those times when it feels like weight loss is taking forever and also means you can visualise what you will look like at eg Christmas or New Year.

CalmConfident · 18/08/2020 12:50

Rejoining...need to be more accountable.

I have seen some great “non scale progress” by steady exercising, down a dress size and a bra back size (had to buy new ones!) but the scales are not moving much.

Target is 57kg....currently hovering just under 62, want to be in the 60s by end of month.

Need to step away from drinks and bread

GetTheStartyParted · 18/08/2020 13:40

Amazing @cricketmum84 Star so happy for you!

@Ruralbliss I think looking at something you can sustain longterm might be useful. Its taken me 29 weeks to lose 4 stone. I would not have been able to do so of my diet was too restrictive. I would have quit long ago.

For me, I follow keto, eat around 1400 cals, which is quite a good amount of food when so few carbs are involved Grin I drink around 2-3l of water a day. Pre lockdown and restarted last week, the only real exercise I do is swimming a few times a week.

You won't lose big amounts every week but if you stick to whatever you choose then you will lose weight. It all adds up.

NerrSnerr · 18/08/2020 17:11

Well done @cricketmum84. 8 stone is an amazing achievement! Fingers crossed about the interview.

I have been pretty good, had an extra gin last night as it was my wedding anniversary but didn't go overboard with calories as it's my birthday on Saturday and I want a takeaway then. I have just been for a quick swim while my daughter does sports class and am going to go again first thing tomorrow and Thursday. Feeling motivated at the moment so making the most of it. Might end up in the pool twice a day as I think I'll bring the children later in the day too.

NerrSnerr · 18/08/2020 17:14

I forgot to say @Ruralbliss- I just calorie count and try to stick to it the best I can. I use MFP and tend to stick to about 1400 calories a day. Any less and I don't stick to it. I sometimes have a few days of low carb but can't stick to that too long. I'm trying to not 'diet' and try to eat 3 meals with healthy stacks if I need them and the occasional unhealthy meal. It's very slow for me but hoping I'll stick to it.

bellajay · 18/08/2020 18:44

@cricketmum84 you must feel amazing about that milestone, such an achievement!

MotherOfDragonite · 18/08/2020 23:23

Wow, very well done @cricketmum84! What an achievement!

Had a good day. A very light soup for lunch and then for dinner some roast cauliflower, brown rice, and butter beans and mushrooms stewed with tomato and onion etc.

I'm slightly freaking out about having to go back to my 8 mile round trip commute when school starts. Will be cycling with a child on my bike and I'm terrified! It will be good to exercise though.

cricketmum84 · 19/08/2020 08:39

Aw thanks guys! Yeah I'm absolutely over the moon. Religiously tracking really does keep me on course for losses. As soon as I don't track then the naughty extras start sneaking in. Extra glass of wine, mini cheddars, a few sweets, doesn't sound much but it all adds up!

@MotherOfDragonite I'm sure it will be fine, there's a lot less cars on the road at the moment and a lot more people cycling. I know what you mean though I would feel nervous cycling with a LO.

Happy anniversary @NerrSnerr and Mr Nerr

Welcome back @CalmConfident :) with you on stepping away from wine and bread. Totally my downfall.

Interview went ok I think @Tanaqui. Will find out Thursday!

Plan for today is:
B - orange wedges and lots of water
L - celery sticks and apple with 20g vegan cheese cubes
D - possibly not diet friendly.... me and DD have been invited to a new Thai cafe to taste test their vegan menu for free so will be trying little bits of all sorts so I think today is going to end up as a non tracking day! I will try not to go overboard and stay away from any fried starters and not eat too much.

Have a lovely day everyone!

Morning all. Feeling very tired today. It managed to get up and go swimming, would love to have a nap now but I'm a bit I'll take my children swimming too. Bought my 3 year old some goggles and he's very excited to try them out. Having a hungry day today so need to really try to stay on track.

MonicaBingaling · 19/08/2020 09:48

Sorry I’ve been so quiet on here, life has been a bit mental and I’ve just been focusing at maintaining as I’m getting quite close to my goal weight anyway and feeling much happier in myself.

However I weighed myself this morning (having been weighing myself much lately so didn’t really know where I was) and I’ve lost a little bit more so I’m now down to 9st,5lbs.

My goal was to get to 9 stone but I don’t know if it will suit me that small as I’m 5,7 almost 5’8 and everyone is saying I’m very slim already so I’ll just see how it goes.

I started off in April at 11st 10 so I’m really happy with my progress so far.

Big thank you to @cricketmum84 and the amazing support on this thread as It has really helped keep me on track!

NerrSnerr · 20/08/2020 16:49

Hope everyone is plodding on ok. I went for a swim this morning and then a walk to the park with the children. Trying to do a little home workout every day too. I have also given up the fizzy drinks as of yesterday to try and improve my overall health. My weight is still the same as it has for almost a week so hoping for a dip soon, although it's my birthday on Saturday so will be having the day off. Will need to be extra good every other day!

Hope you've had good news @cricketmum84, keeping everything crossed.

CalmConfident · 20/08/2020 19:02

I was doing well...then went to visit a family member...had a beer AND custard creams Confused
