Good luck @cricketmum84 but it's already sounding positive!

I had a day off calorie counting yesterday (cava, chocolate, chicken curry -all the c's!) but as I'm trying to be accountable Confused I put in all in to mfp just now and it's actually just over my maintenance calories. So not all bad!

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Bella444 · 15/08/2020 10:55

@Shedtheload what do you go for weight training? It sounds like it's working well for you. Well done on the fat victory! Smile

Bella444 · 15/08/2020 10:56

*do not go!

Tanaqui · 15/08/2020 11:10

That sounds exciting @cricketmum84, good luck! I've had a good week despite being back at work- 10st 5 this morning.
I should probably start weight lifting by the sounds of it @Shedtheload, I wm pretty sure my body fat % is much higher than it should be- does anyone think that homee scales are reliable for it though?

Shedtheload · 15/08/2020 11:56

Bella444 I bought some 6 kg dumbbells from eBay and I do 3x10 reps of 6 different moves like squats with overhead press, bent row, lying down shoulder press, bicep curl and lunge with curl. There are also some good videos on fitness blender on YouTube that takes you through different moves. My moves are largely copied from an old Joe Wicks video. I am quite enjoying it now. I do it every other day and it seems to be making a bit of a difference and giving me more tone. Once the 6kgs get too easy I will try to find some 10 kg ones (they do them at Argos but are sold out at the moment) but they’re still pretty tough at the moment.

Tanaqui I think body composition scales aren’t totally accurate as I don’t see how they can totally tell the difference between subcutaneous and visceral fat for instance. I use them more as a guideline but it’s good for when the scale isn’t moving that much but you can still see your body changing shape.

Well I am feeling suitable shamed by all the amazing weight loss that has been going on in the thread. I am really struggling sticking to things at the moment and keep on having small binges and lots of snacking which is hampering things. I have so far managed to stay the same so far the month but really do need to give myself a big kick up the bum. I know I can do it as I have managed to lose over 6 stone but it’s like I’m have run out of steam and I know, if I don’t carry on, I will go back to my old habits and pile on the weight again. I think part of it is that I hate my wobbly stretched body and am worried why it will look like if I lose more Sad
I have got into the habit of weighing daily which I don’t think helps so am going to go back to weekly weighing so hopefully next week I will have a nice surprise!
Well done to all you fab supportive people on the thread and hope will all have am amazing week of weight loss

Vavavoovoom · 15/08/2020 15:07

Starting weight
11st 11 (07.08.20)

Current weight
11st 9 (15.08.20)

Loss this week
2lb

Not been perfect, not counting calories yet (that will come), have cut the chocolate and ice creams. Doing daily You Tube yoga. And sweat a lot 😂

Aim this coming week is making/sticking to a meal plan.

MotherOfDragonite · 15/08/2020 15:52

Happy Saturday everyone!

I had stuck within my daily points all week, so used my weekly points to order a takeaway last night and had a vegan burger and a half portion of chips and a chocolate thing for dessert. BIG MISTAKE. I seem to have put on 2lb overnight :-( -- I thought I could use the weekly points this way but I think I need to be much more careful to use them on something less junky.

Anyway, I am back on my usual healthy stuff today, drinking lots of water and hoping I can claw back a bit of this week's loss for weigh-in tomorrow!

A healthier treat for me next week! (Maybe something like Vietnamese food, which is full of flavour but not as stodgy). I am a little shocked by how affected my weight is by carbs.

Tonight I am planning a salad, brown rice, and Quorn fillets in tomato sauce. We also have melon and watermelon for pudding.

Ginflinger · 15/08/2020 22:27

So interesting to hear those of you who have lost a lot talking about struggling to see it in yourselves. Today, I saw a 5-year-old photo of myself and I looked great, but I distinctly remember hating that picture and thinking I looked awful. The ideas we have of ourselves!

I have spent all week savagely sabotaging myself. Lots of mini-binges and terrible choices. Always do this! Going to gently try again and not blame myself and try to be positive.

caringcarer · 16/08/2020 00:06

I have just joined thread. I have managed to lose 1 1/2 kg so far in August, but I am very very over weight. I am going for another push by cutting back on carbs, no matter how hard and drinking loads of iced water. We are away for a few days so I am walking along beach, more matching really.

Shedtheload · 16/08/2020 06:27

Don’t worry MotherOfDragonite, it’s all water from the sodium in takeaway food. I think it’s especially common if you normally keep your carbs quite low. The minute you go off plan, your body will hold water like crazy. I hope you enjoyed your takeaway though.

@Vavavoovoom that’s a great loss. I wish I was still in the days of seeing the scale move by 2 lb a week. Sadly it’s way way slower for me these days.

@caringcarer that’s a great loss too. You’re right on track to hit the monthly target. I definitely won’t this month but would be good to get another drop in body fat percentage.

@Ginflinger yeah same for me. I wish I was as fat as I was when I first thought I was fat (ie not at all)!!! I used to think I was huge when I was at least a stone lighter than I am now after losing 2 and a half stone.

MirandaWest · 16/08/2020 08:40

Was away for a few nights this week and consciously didn’t track any calories while I was away and ate more sweet things than I have been recently. My weigh in day is Wednesday - on 5th August I was 72.1kg and yesterday I was 72.4kg. Am hoping to have least got back to 72.1kg by Wednesday.

Also haven’t been walking as much in the past week as normal although have met my 15,000 step target every day.

Trying to psyche myself up to go for a walk now rather than go and find some left over fudge to eat Grin

Good luck for Monday @cricketmum84 Flowers

Well, by some fluke, lots of sleep and drinking more water, I've reached my target for this month and have lost 4.4lbs. I've also just realised that although I haven't managed any full yoga sessions this week, I have been doing a few yoga exercises every day because I'm trying to increase my flexibility. I didn't think they were enough to count as exercise but maybe they have had an impact too Grin

NerrSnerr · 16/08/2020 11:03

Well done @JessJonesJumps for reaching your target.

I have done this morning's yoga class so feel good for it. Down to 11st 12 so almost safely in the 11s. I have decided that as I am trying to improve my health I am going to give up energy drinks and Diet Coke (and most other fizzy drinks). Once the ones in the fridge are gone I'm giving up! I have read a bit about the aspartame in Diet Coke messing with your metabolism so you never know, it may help the weight but it's mainly because I know they're not good for me and it's an expensive habit!!

MotherOfDragonite · 16/08/2020 13:00

Well, it's weigh in day and miraculously despite the vegan burger I have lost 2 lb this week! It's good. I think it would have been 3 if it hadn't been for Friday but it's still the right direction. I'm being really good about drinking water.

Starting weight: 17 st 8.6 lb
Last week: 16 st 12.6 lb
Current weight: 16 st 10.6 (-2 lb)

My big goal is going to be to get down into the 14s for Christmas. That's just over 25 pounds but I think it's possible if I stay focused.

cricketmum84 · 16/08/2020 18:13

Everything tracked and being ultra good. Spent the morning doing a bit more interview prep for tomorrow. Had hummous and toasted pitta at lunch and then mashed potato and loads of steamed green veg with gravy for dinner.

Some amazing losses coming in!! Well done guys! X

My first weigh in tomorrow having jumped right in to 800 calories per day and eating between 11am and 7pm. No Booze and very minimal carbs have past my lips and would you believe I have felt more energetic than ever and not really very hungry. Perhaps the oppressive heat this week has helped. I've drank loads of water.
I had a first date on Tuesday and was worried about being too heavy but went anyway and he seemed to like me.

I bought the Fast 800 recipe book and although I haven't made anything from it yet there's some lovely sounding recipes.

I've mainly had chicken or ham salads with small piece of cheese/celery for snacks and omelette at lunchtime (we have hens so it's an obvious choice)

Digital scales bought and measurements/ weights taken last Monday which showed 12 stone so I'm carrying at least 3 stone of extra weight. I'm aiming to be 9 stone or under by my birthday in March.

cricketmum84 · 17/08/2020 07:30

Morning all! How is everyone?

It's the start of a brand new week and we are halfway through the month already! This year is so weird.

@Ruralbliss ooh a date! That sounds exciting! You will have to let us know how that develops...

Plan for today is:
B - strawberries and alpro yoghurt
L - mushroom cup a soup
D - spicy patatas bravas with a quorn fillet

Scary interview at 5! Eek!

Have a lovely healthy Monday!

NerrSnerr · 17/08/2020 07:47

Good morning and good luck today @cricketmum84.

Quiet day today. I have the day off work so it's me and the 5 year old as the 3 year old is in nursery. She has been awake since 4 so I don't think we'll do too much, maybe go swimming.

Went through my wardrobe yesterday, I have too many clothes as I kept many of my 'thin' clothes so hoping as I get rid of my 'fat' clothes I will have more space. I have so many jeans from a size 10 to a size 14 but need to see how the smaller ones suit me when I get down to those sizes as I have had 2 c sections since I last wore them so my stomach will never be the same!

GetTheStartyParted · 17/08/2020 07:52

Morning all Smile

Best of luck for your interview today @cricketmum84

I've had a lovely weekend with all 4 children home. We went to the zoo on Saturday and I love their relationships together now they are older. They really enjoy each others company.

Weigh in day for me here. Finally lost another pound so have hit my 4 stone loss - woohoo!

Cancelled this mornings swim due to TOTM Sad I will be back to it soon enough.

Having lunch out with my mum today, she wants to see DS after his extended absence. Everyone does! Grin

Have a lovely Monday everyone.

GetTheStartyParted · 17/08/2020 07:53

@NerrSnerr sadly this is true. I was so happy to fit back into some items, only to find that I hated how they fit! Its a good excuse to buy new clothes that flatter your figure and make you feel good.

GetTheStartyParted · 17/08/2020 07:54

*I say this as someone that has nothing that fits properly at the moment Hmm Grin

MirandaWest · 17/08/2020 07:57

Have been for my couch to 5k week 9 run 1 so another 30 minutes running. And also sneakily weighed myself - it said 71.5kg which I would be very pleased with as it was 72.4kg on Saturday. Will see what it’s like on proper weigh in day on Wednesday. And need to not have sweet things today and tomorrow. They are definitely my downfall

Ruralbliss · 17/08/2020 09:04

4lbs off!
Very happy eating less is working.
Will do my best to stick to 800 cals for the next 3 months and see where that takes me. It doesn't seem too hard so far.

Am massively inspired by those of you who are already successfully at or nearly at goal weight and fitting into old or buying new clothes. I'd so love that.

Also very inspired by those of you getting up early to exercise. This seems to be a massive blocker for me. I keep going to bed too late and getting up just an hour before I start work.

I do seem to be averaging around 7-10k steps though with an evening walk and a huge garden to mow.

Would like to do more in the way of yoga/stretching; weights; dance etc. Have started C25k several times but I just don't think it's for me.
