@SansaClegane

lesleyw looks like we're weight-twins! I'm one of the extra fat ones too Grin I've already taken the dog for a walk with my Fitbit-lookalike-device, only clocked up 2500 steps though as I was desperate to get back to my coffee and paper. Longer walk later!
Hi Twin!
SansaClegane · 26/07/2020 11:03

hodgepodge the holidays thing is worrying me too.
We're off to my parents in a couple of weeks - which is usually great because my mum cooks for everyone, and I love having all my childhood treats - but it's going to be so hard Confused I'm thinking of pausing the calorie counting whilst still doing 16:8 and just trying to not overdo it.

KurriKawari · 26/07/2020 11:28

@hodgepodge21 your weight loss sounds amazing well done.

For the 16:8 I would really recommend an app called Fastic, reminds you when you to eat and tracks how much water you drink. Made me realise how little I drink and also how sometimes if I was hungry I just needed a big glass of water - mix it up with ice, lemon, ginger, lime, mint, rosemary etc.

You fast for 16 hours and your eating window is 8 hours. So I usually eat at 11.00am and ensure last meal is eaten by 7.00pm. You can adjust to suit your own lifestyle. Like when I wake up I have so many work meetings that 11pm comes by quickly without noticing. Sometimes all I have is brunch and then evening meal with maybe a snack in between. And during the fast you can drink water- but tbh I rarely feel hungry after last meal and obviously you're asleep so the 16 hours fly by! Not sure I could do 5:2 cos trying to figure out 500 calories is just too much faff. In the 8 hours you can eat on 16:8, there's no calorie counting although obviously I eat sensible and healthy!

I eat lots of veg but am bored by most fruits. However, fruit with peanut butter or yogurt sounds lovely!

hodgepodge21 · 26/07/2020 11:41

@SansaClegane that sounds so difficult, because you want to enjoy yourself without falling too far off the wagon! I like the idea of keeping up with fasting but ignoring the calories. I don't normally fast, I'm a calorie counter usually, but maybe that's something I can try while I'm away! Also might try and limit my carbs whilst allowing myself free reign to other things. So lots of cheese and salad and meats, but not so much bread. I still want to enjoy my life, but not ruin all my hard work - it's a constant battle!

hodgepodge21 · 26/07/2020 11:42

@KurriKawari thanks for this I will have a look at the app! I am a calorie counter, so it's a completely different approach. But I've read so many good things about fasting, it's meant to have a tonne of other benefits too isn't it! And the water thing is interesting too, I realised I barely drink water - I don't really seem to get thirsty! So I have an app now that reminds me and it helps so much.

hodgepodge21 · 26/07/2020 11:44

@LimeJ good news you are lighter than you expected! It's usually the other way round... good luck for day one! Enjoy your 10,000 steps, I pretty much get all my exercise from super long walks and I really love it now. Get an audiobook on and time flies!

LimeJ · 26/07/2020 12:07

Dog walk done, 45 minute walk gave me 4,400 steps. I walked really quickly. I quite enjoyed it to be honest, I think it helps that the weather is lovely here today.

Weighed in today and 50lbs lost now since March.. a way to go but happy. Did a 2.5mile walk this morning quite briskly- probably do another longer one later. Have a great day everyone!

LimeJ · 26/07/2020 12:56

@monkeytennis97 wow, 50lbs down. That is fantastic.

Well done to everyone who's lost weight this week. monkeytennis that's an amazing result - well done.

I intended to go for a long walk this morning but it started raining. Looks like it's clearing up now, so I might head off.

MrsMcTats · 26/07/2020 13:46

Weighed in and I'm 12st. 9. My main issue is portion control. I cook mostly from scratch, but like comfort food and portions which are too big. I'm going to start 16:8, plus I'm having a Slimfast shake for lunches. I just find it easier to drink a shake, then try to work out a low calorie meal. Plus I feel full after the shake, whereas I'm always hungry after a chicken salad type lunch!

CoralReefer · 26/07/2020 14:18

Some really good losses here.
Today I have been for an hours walk and had a brunch of hash browns, veggie sausages and beans.
Trying not to eat til dinner time which is bbq chicken and salad and a small dessert of fruit crumble.

TheBuriedGiant · 26/07/2020 14:49

Hi all, can I join in? I have lost a stone since March but need to lose another 3.5 stone to get me to a healthy weight! I’ve started the c25k today and it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, so I’ll take that! Smile

YetAnotherProcrastinator · 26/07/2020 15:28

Me too! I have about 3 to 4 stone to lose. 4 preferably, but will have a better idea once I get there!

I am fed up of the mental space that being overweight takes up in my brain and I just want to be able to buy clothes, walk around, go to work, go to an interview or go out (Covid allowing!) without feeling self-conscious! I am also getting older (obviously) and what I have got away with up to now I might not in the future.

I am generally usually a bit overweight but have shot up in the last year or so.

I started this morning as I felt uncomfortable last night due to over-indulgence - hopefully posting on here will help !

TheNewLook · 26/07/2020 15:35

monkeytennis 50lbs? That’s brilliant, well done. Do you feel amazing?

Snowdrop30 · 26/07/2020 15:47

Can I join? I have lost 5lb so far, which took around 5 weeks. I have another stone, perhaps stone and a half to go. Am doing 16:8, my fitness Pal and couch 2 5k. Been feeling really disgusted with my body and it's a horrible feeling. I am also trying to relearn what "normal" portions look like, which is hard. I feel deprived!

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 26/07/2020 15:55

Hi! I've got about 1st5lbs to lose to get back to my happy weight. Im having problems with my hips and legs recently so need to get it shifted.

I've downloaded my fitness pal (again!) And I'm going to start back on with couch to 5k, i got to week 5 but then going back to work, I didnt have the energy to do it!

I've inputted all my meals today and have leftover calories which is exciting, I may have a treat this evening :)
Today's meals:
Breakfast- rice crispies and oat milk
Lunch- jacket potato with beans, salad and feta
Dinner - savoury flapjack, new potatoes, salad and beans.
Then 27 calories on 3 cups of flavoured tea.

I'm trying to resist snacking right now and wait until dinner!!

Grimauldface · 26/07/2020 15:58

Wow 50lbs monkeytennis97 that's brilliant, well done. I definitely feel inspired now reading about the successes people have already had. I hope I can achieve similar.

Snap! MrsMcTats I also weighed in at 12st 9lb today. Let's hope today is the last day we both weigh that much.

Portion control and sugar addiction are my biggest problems I think. I am liking the sound of the 16:8 eating pattern though and I might give that a try (as well as trying to cut the sugar obviously).

TheBuriedGiant I'm venturing out this evening to try week 1 run 1 of C25K. I hope I don't find it too much of a shock to the system.

zeerecords · 26/07/2020 16:15

Can I join? I need to loose 2 and half stone ideally! I was doing well in lockdown when I had not much else to do all day and was trying to get into a routine so I didn't get down and lost 10lbs but I've gained 5lbs back since starting work again.

I just can't find the motivation to eat well like I used to and exercise everyday!

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 26/07/2020 17:47

Been for my evening walk. It's my quiet time without children so quite enjoyable!

c24680 · 26/07/2020 17:52

I'm in!

I need to loose 2st at least, i weigh nearly 13.8lbs and I've just found out I'm pregnant so can't be too drastic with diet changes.

Going to cut down on junk, add in 30 minutes daily exercises and see how I get on.

pourmeanotherglass · 26/07/2020 17:55

I'm in. Dont own any scales at the moment so cant tell you my weight, but I'm a size 16 and my tummy feels huge.

I haven't decided which approach to try this time. 5:2 worked a few years ago, but was quite hard work to stick to. Just cutting out sugar and alcohol has worked in the past too. I might try something similar with a bit of a focus on portion size.

Anyone else thought about how they are going to do It?

monkeytennis97 · 26/07/2020 18:15

@TheNewLook thank you 😊 I feel like I want to be more active and I feel (unlike all the other times I have done this) that I want to keep going. I still have another 3 stone to lose to be in the 'normal' weight -I would be really happy with 2 but ecstatic with 3. I have used lockdown as a kick up the butt. What scared me into it was seeing some of the photos of those poor younger and middle aged ladies who had passed away from Covid and I thought,"they all look like me". It's just so awful. I thought I had to do something.

monkeytennis97 · 26/07/2020 18:17

@Grimauldface thank you 😊

monkeytennis97 · 26/07/2020 18:18

@LimeJ thank you too!Smile
