I'd love to join please. I've got about 2.5 stone to lose. I've always been 'rounded', but did various detoxes and healthy eating in my early 20's and slimmed to a small 12. Then met my DH and contentment set in....3 DC later and I'm a size 16/18. Feel very uncomfortable in my skin. Most of my mum friends are very slim and I feel self conscious. I'm also 40 next year and would love to wear a pretty dress and feel fab in it.

MrsMcTats · 25/07/2020 21:54

@Rldx2 completely agree - love my pj's!

JamRolyPolyAnyone · 25/07/2020 21:58

@Riv12345 We can be Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum together!

@MushMonster Those recipes look interesting and a good start. Thank you 🙏

Franticbutterfly · 25/07/2020 22:24

I'd like to lose about 70lbs.

LimeJ · 25/07/2020 22:37

Thanks everyone for joining me, I'm really pleased that I will have you all doing this with me.

Tomorrow is a fresh new start. Let's all stick to the plan and sort ourselves out.

Can I join in. I have 4 stone to loose. I've lost just shy of 2 already but lost motivation

LimeJ · 25/07/2020 22:44

welcome @dobbyssoc happy to have you. Well done on already losing two stone.

Me too with the stiff joints. I need to remember how much better I’d feel without them next time I’m tempted to snack

morningtoncrescent62 · 25/07/2020 23:06

May I join in?

I'm a lifelong yo-yo dieter. At the start of lockdown I was just shy of 15 stone - I've been there before. Last time I dieted I got down below 9 stone but I got completely obsessed with food trying to stay there and eventually fell off the bandwagon and up I went again, for the zillionth time.

This time I'm trying to do things differently. At the start of lockdown I decided to try to lose a pound a week, take it slowly and get into habits I could maintain. The weight's come off a bit faster than that, though, and I'm down to about 12 stone 10 which I'm pleased with. I think it makes sense to set a target comfortably within the overweight range and then try to stay there rather than keep yo-yo-ing, so I'm aiming at 11 stone which is still quite overweight for my height (5' 3"). I hope, though, that in the long term it'll be healthier to do that than to try to go much lower and get obsessed with what I'm eating again. I'll be happy to take till the end of the year to get to my 11 stone target - so long as I'm going in the right direction that will do.

I'm working from home, and that's helped because I can be more in control. I've stopped buying biscuits and cake (my downfall) and I'm able to make proper meals rather than having high-energy snacks at my desk during the working day.

CoralReefer · 25/07/2020 23:12

And me please! 2 stones to put me on the upper end of a healthy bmi.
I’m starting to feel quite embarrassed about being overweight thanks to all the ‘you’re more at risk of covid if you’re obese’ messages.
I’d love to start looking nice again. I’m short so I look very frumpy with these extra 2.5 stones. Frumpy with a rounded face. Not looking my best at all.
My plan is fasting every other day, lots of walks, lots of reading to keep me distracted.

Grimauldface · 26/07/2020 07:58

Morning everyone, please can I join? I ideally want to lose 3 stone but 2 would be a good start.
I'm 45, none of my clothes fit, I look and feel older than I am and have constant neck and shoulder pain which I'm hoping might be helped by some significant weight loss (I'm very top heavy).
I braved the scales just now and weighed in at 12st 9lb.

tbtf · 26/07/2020 08:02

I've just weighed in at 12 stone 11

I'm about to weigh out some muesli for breakfast and pair up my Apple Watch to track some exercise.

No more biscuits!

LimeJ · 26/07/2020 08:13

Morning all and welcome to the newcomers.

I am drinking coffee and watching the news, putting off getting on the scales.

I will report back once I've weighed and showered.

10 13.6 here which give I’m very short is about 3 stones over what I should be. Ironing done ( to put off breakfast) and weeding this morning and a walk this afternoon planned

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 26/07/2020 09:59

Weigh in this morning... 15st4.5. I'm not sure I quite believe it, that's a whole stone lighter than at the beginning of the month. Yesterday was 15st6.

I've been for a 2 mile run. Got my embarrassing moment for the day out of the way early... I didn't realise that a new bunch of soldiers had arrived for their training course so had to run past 30, young, fit men (or mostly men, I wasn't wearing my glasses) during their morning PT session. Usually I just see the odd one or two about...

LimeJ · 26/07/2020 10:00

Ok I have weighed.

I am 11st 11.25lbs.

Although I am unhappy about weighing so much, I am happy that I am under 12st. I thought I would be around 12st - 12.5st.

So day one starts here 😃

LimeJ don't have coffee before your weigh-in Grin that's just adding extra weight!

My weight this morning: 13st 8.4lbs
That's 2.6lbs down from last Sunday, and 12.6lbs down total (4 weeks)

About 2 stone to lose for my intermediate goal, and 3 1/2 stone to my end goal Shock it's going to be a long ride...

lesleyw1953 · 26/07/2020 10:07

Oh dear! I seem to be one of the heavier ones here. Still I'm getting a grip. 13st 9lbs. Had 200 calories for breakfast and am now taking the dog and my Fitbit look-alike for a walk - and mentally digging in for the long haul!

JamRolyPolyAnyone · 26/07/2020 10:13

13stone. Exactly the same as last week. I have cut down portion sizes and walked the dog everyday. Not a drop of wine or square of chocolate have passed my lips this week. Not even a pound lost 😫 More effort is needed!

SansaClegane · 26/07/2020 10:30

lesleyw looks like we're weight-twins! I'm one of the extra fat ones too Grin I've already taken the dog for a walk with my Fitbit-lookalike-device, only clocked up 2500 steps though as I was desperate to get back to my coffee and paper. Longer walk later!

KurriKawari · 26/07/2020 10:49

Yes please! Am 40 years old, 5ft 2" and weigh 67kg. At beginning of lockdown I did 16:8 and a 30 day exercise challenge that really helped. And then I was unwell and busy with work and it threw me all off.
Am going back to 16:8 and the exercise app.
Thinking about day routine:

  • banana and peanut butter smoothie
  • salad or soup
  • a healthy meal, portion controlled with lots of veg/salad.

What is everyone's tips for healthy snacks?
I think carrots and cucumber with hummus. A handful of nuts. Any other quick and easy ideas please.

hodgepodge21 · 26/07/2020 10:50

I just weighed in for the week - 12st4. That's a 1.5lb weight loss this week which I'm really happy with as last week was a disaster and I've worked really hard this week to make up for it. That means I have lost 46lbs so far since last September, and have another 25lbs still to go. However I am going away tomorrow for a two night trip. We usually buy lots of bread, cheese and wine and spend our evenings eating it. I think I'm still going to treat myself, but have long walks during the day and try and keep the booze to a minimum. Any tips for keeping on track when your on holiday??

LimeJ · 26/07/2020 10:51

@SansaClegane next week I will weigh myself before coffee! I am off to walk the dog in a bit, I have my Fitbit on ready. Aiming for 10,000 steps daily, i am hoping that is doable.

OP posts:
hodgepodge21 · 26/07/2020 10:55

Welcome @KurriKawari! That day plan sounds good, I am always intrigued about the idea of 16:8 it feels way more doable than 5:2. How do you find it?

I love my snacks, veggies and hummus is always a winner. I love popcorn for a snack! I even bought an air popper and that's my evening sorted, you can have a massive bowl for barely any calories. I also love things like babybels, apple with peanut butter, yoghurt and fruit, and chocolate coated rice cakes/corn thins when I fancy something chocolatey.

JamRolyPolyAnyone · 26/07/2020 10:58

LimeJ

10,000 steps takes around 90 mins. I struggle with that with my wonky knees and dodgy ankles. I’m going to aim for two 45min walks I think. I have the family round for dinner today so no chance of getting out until they’ve gone. Hopefully they will go in time for me to get at least one walk in later 🤞
