Hello,

I hope I’m okay to join in!
I’ve seriously lost control and it’s fully time to gain it back again. Working from home has “helped” me gain 2 stone that I couldn’t afford to gain.
I weighed myself this morning, and was horrified by the number really. Feel a bit ashamed to post it!

I’m joining the gym this evening. There’s a deal on at the local gym so taking advantage of that, to hopefully lose a few lot of pounds before Christmas.Xmas Blush

FatCatThinCat · 18/12/2020 11:30

Don't be ashamed Fatgirlhopingtoslim I was 140 kg (22 stone) when I joined in.

mornington I know what you mean about snacking moderation. It's hard when you're surrounded by yummy stuff. One thing that helps me that I learnt at the eating disorders clinic, is to have a fixed snack time. I have breakfast when I get up, lunch at 12.00, snack at 3.00 and dinner at 7.00. That way I can still keep control over the snacks as I'm not constantly grazing. Sometimes 3.00 pm is sandwich time, sometimes yogurt and fruit, and best of all sometimes a cake or mincepie. Cutting out nice things completely is unsustainable I think.

FatCatThinCat · 19/12/2020 10:45

My scales have seen the error of their evil ways! 1.9 kg loss this week, smashing my 20 kg target. I'm over the moon.

Start weight: 140 kg (22 stone)
Current weight: 118.3 kg (18.6 stone)
Total loss: 21.7 kg (3.4 stone)
Starting BMI: 53
Current BMI: 45

30 kg loss here I come!

morningtoncrescent62 · 19/12/2020 13:18

Oh fantastic, @FatCatThinCat. You really showed those scales who's boss. That's a fantastic loss, and 8 points off your BMI is huge. Well done!

Hello and welcome @Fatgirlhopingtoslim. No need to be ashamed in here - this is a very friendly and supportive thread and we all know what it's like to lose control. Post as much or as little as you like, whenever you feel ready.

WobbleWhenIRun · 19/12/2020 18:55

@fatcatthincat – well done! What a great thing to have happened, ready for Christmas. What a really great achievement and I love that you’re already looking to the next goal Smile

I’d tell you not to worry about a single day, @morningtoncrescent62 because one day cannot do any real damage to such long term and consistent success, but I think I understand that the real worry is that you still have the ability to go totally off rails, in there somewhere. Or at least, that’s how I think I’d feel, though I don’t know whether I think that’s actually true, iyswim. I think we just need to accept that relaxing ‘the rules’ within moderation is a skill that needs practicing. I know I need to practuce it a LOT more before I'm done.

@Fatgirlhopingtoslim welcome to the group. I agree with the others: there is no need for shame here. Your weight is not a reflection of your worth or value Smile

MushMonster · 20/12/2020 09:32

Well done @FatCatThinCat! That is a great loss! And another target down! You are doing amazing!

Welcome @Fatgirlhopingtoslim. Lots of fatties quickly getting slim here. Great support group it is!

MushMonster · 20/12/2020 09:40

I was expecting a mantain or little gain. I had chocolateConfused
But I am 79.7 kg!

Current 79.7 kg
Loss 0.5 kg
Start 98 kg
Just made it below the 80s!

So, now, the target is enjoy Christmas. Go easy on the in between days. Long walks on the days I am not working. I will weight every Sunday, because I do lose the track if I do not. Maybe more often if too large meals. Target will be stil be below the 80 kg by January, the 10th. Hopefully I will lose a bit on that first week of the year.
And from then, new year, new two targets. 75 kg, and then 70 kg! And keep with the fitness (let's see when they open the gyms around here!)

WobbleWhenIRun · 20/12/2020 13:45

Woohoo, well done @MushMonster - well done and, again, doesn't it feel good to get a tick off the goal list before Christmas?

I am also planning on getting on the scales every few days or so, just to keep a little eye on things.

GwendolineWindowlene · 20/12/2020 13:52

Hello, room for another chubster?

I’m 212lb and aiming for 154lb. Sugary shite is my enemy!

FatCatThinCat · 20/12/2020 15:07

Well done mush I still can't even visualise being below 80 kg. Well done you!

Welcome Gwendoline there's always space for others.

We"ve just had our Swedish julbord (Christmas dinner) and I'm really pleased with how it went. I had some of everything but didn't over eat. I feel confortably full instead of the usual so full I can barely walk. I enjoyed the meal with my family and I really enjoyed feeling in control of what I was eating. I feel pretty confident that haven't damaged my progress. We can enjoy the season while keeping hold of the reins!

MushMonster · 20/12/2020 17:00

Well done @FatCatThinCat! I did not know that celebrations happened earlier there.
Still a few sleeps till Christmas Eve. We will see how it goes!
Enjoy the rest of the festive days!

FatCatThinCat · 20/12/2020 17:44

Normal Swedish Christmas is on the 24th. We always go to a local hotel for Christmas dinner the weekend before with all our friends. This year the hotel did takeaway julbord so it was just us. But still nice.

morningtoncrescent62 · 20/12/2020 19:06

Woohoo @WobbleWhenIRun, so glad you've ticked off another target. That's brilliant pre-Christmas news.

And yes, you're right, the thing I worry about is going off the rails and not being able to get back on. But I've reminded myself that my first maintenance fortnight didn't go well, and my rules needed adjusting. So perhaps it's not surprising that I haven't got Christmas figured out yet! I went back onto weight loss plan for Friday and yesterday, and kept to it without too much trouble. Today I went for a walk with a friend and I bought two Nakd bars to take with me as a snack. I find them nice but non-addictive, though I decided not to trust myself to buy a four-pack anyway, because thereby lies temptation. So assuming the rest of the day goes to plan, today will be TDEE - 200, not the TDEE +200 I was supposed to be allowing myself this week.

My intention had been to switch to TDEE + 700 for the 23rd-27th because I was expecting DD1 for the duration and DD2 for the 24th-26th. They're not coming now, boo hiss. So in principle I'll be more in control, but with a lot of time on my hands and a lonely Christmas ahead. Will figure out what to do about food when I've got over the fact that they can't come.

Glad you enjoyed your julbord @FatCatThinCat. That's exactly what I want to be able to do - enjoy the season without completely losing control. Well done on managing it.

Hello and welcome @GwendolineWindowlene. I started at the weight you are now, and sugary shite is my enemy too. Congratulations on taking the first step, and jump in and post whenever you're ready.

GwendolineWindowlene · 20/12/2020 22:02

Thanks @morningtoncrescent62! What do you weigh now, and how long did it take to get there?

FatCatThinCat · 21/12/2020 10:32

I weighed myself this morning to see how julbord went down. 118.9 kg so just over half a kilo increase. I'm not worried about it as I'm right back on the wagon today until Friday. But it does show how easily it can be put back on. Eating just a bit more of richer foods and wham, up you go.

I also had a bad nights sleep last night as I had a problem with reflux. From which I've learnt that 'comfortably full' is still too full for me. So on Friday I will have even smaller portions so I don't have the same problem then. To me reflux belongs entirely in the bad old days of overeating/eating disorder. Don't want to be entertaining that again.

morningtoncrescent62 · 21/12/2020 14:14

Hi @GwendolineWindowlene. I started at the beginning of lockdown - so that's 9 months I've been at it! I went for a slow start, just cutting down radically on sugary snacks, and then onto a calorie calculated weight loss plan from about May. I'm a lifelong yo-yo dieter with a history of getting obsessed by eating when I'm on a diet, so this time I'm only weighing myself once a month, at the end of the month. At the end of March I was 210lb. At the end of November I was 151lb. My goal is to get down to 140lb and then maintain for life in the 140-147lb range. I'm short, and the 'normal' BMI range tops out at 146lb for my height. I'll be very happy if I can maintain right at the top of the normal range, given my age.

In previous diets I've aimed at around 125lb, but I've found that once I'm below 140lb, losing weight feels like doing battle with my body, and ends horribly in uncontrolled eating of anything in sight until I'm back where I started. So my real goal this time round is to arrive at a plan that I can maintain for the rest of my life - including a few sugary snacks, in moderation, and space for the occasional night in the pub, takeaway and so on.

GwendolineWindowlene · 21/12/2020 15:19

That’s very inspiring, Mornington, we sound very similar. I too am short, but I’m also very stocky so I think getting down to 140 and trying TL stay there would be entirely joyless.

ShopoholicIn · 24/12/2020 07:31

@morningtoncrescent62 thanks.. I was hoping to continue with my exercise plan this week as well but covid hit, so don't know when i will restart my exercises but hopefully in a few weeks time.

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas...

FatCatThinCat · 24/12/2020 11:50

Merry Christmas everyone. Keep strong and enjoy your Christmas dinners. See you all afterwards to assess any damage.

MushMonster · 24/12/2020 12:45

Merry Christmas all! Enjoy!!!!
(PD: Christmas shopping does count as exercise Xmas Wink)

FatCatThinCat · 26/12/2020 09:07

It"s a Christmas miracle! Normal Saturday weigh in and I"m 118.2 kg. That's a teeny, tiny 0.1 kg loss. After julbord and Christmas dinner, where I had some of everything, including both desserts!

Now I just need to manage the mountains of leftovers.

Very happy bunny today.

MushMonster · 26/12/2020 10:44

Well done! That is a great result indeed! A miracle of your own doing, pay off for your hard work.
Christmas shopping and cooking do count as extreme exercise mind you.
I will weigh tomorrow, expecting a gain that I have to work on the coming days Grin

morningtoncrescent62 · 31/12/2020 12:21

I hope everyone's had a good Christmas and managed to enjoy themselves despite everything.

It's the end of the month, so I've had my regular weigh-in. The scales are showing a 4lb gain since the end of November. I'm cool about that, because I know it's mostly bloat - once I go back on my weight loss plan next week and don't have so many carbs it'll soon go.

I'm considering the festive season a success eating-wise. There's only been the one day when I've lost control completely, which is a result for me. I've been over TDEE most days since last Wednesday, but not by much, and I've gone on lots of long walks.

Wishing a very happy new year to all losers on this thread, and see you on the other side!

FatCatThinCat · 31/12/2020 14:33

4 lb gain over Christmas is a huge win. Well done.

I've realised this week that leftovers after is harder to navigate than Christmas day itself. I'm expecting a slight gain thanks to Christmas cake and Cadbury's Roses but hopefully not too massive. We still have tonight and tomorrow to get through.

FatCatThinCat · 02/01/2021 07:14

118.7 kg today. That's a 0.5 kg increase which I'm very happy with considering all the cake and chocolate I've eaten this week.
