I already follow intermittent fasting so 16 hour fasts with an 8 hour window in which to eat. I just eat too much in the window!
I'm back to tracking on MFP and running daily.
I've been for a long walk this morning pushing the buggy while DS rode his bike and will be running once they're down to bed later. Today's calorie deficit is pretty good Smile
I got an extra boost though from seeing my lovely friend out for a run this morning who's lost LOADS of weight recently and she looked incredible!!

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 26/07/2020 18:37

pourme I'm going to try and just stick to 3 meals and maybe 1/2 snacks if i really need them. For snacks I've got alpro yogurt and fruit, cereal bars, meringues and mini bags of haribo for a sweet treat.

I'm not buying crisps/biscuits/cake (I'm gluten and dairy free so wont eat the kids stuff!)

Drinking plenty of water, having a fruit tea or caffeine free coke/lemonade if i fancy something sweet.

I am cutting back on portion size and trying to make sure my plate is at least a third veg/salad. Trying to cut out sauces (mayo and sweet chilli sauce are my weaknesses!) My breakfast instead of 2 slices, only having 1 slice of toast with beans/fried egg or peanut butter. And no more takeaways or crappy freezer food!

KurriKawari · 26/07/2020 18:49

Started my fast :)
Today I've had

  • salad & mackerel
  • tea & cupcake
  • rice and lentils

Blame my nephew for dropping off the cupcake! Not feeling in the right headspace for exercise today, but will start my 30 day challenge tomorrow before work.

hodgepodge21 · 26/07/2020 18:53

@pourmeanotherglass I am going to try and continue with what I've been doing up til now. Aim for around 1400-1500 calories a day during the week, with a bit of flex at the weekend. I also like to try and do a 1.5 hour walk everyday, with a bit extra on my exercise bike if I know I'm going to be having extra calories that day! Like today I'm having a couple of light beers to start my holiday off right, and a solero after tea! But I did 40mins on the bike in addition to my normal walk to counteract it. I also try and have 3-4 litres of water a day, and keep booze to weekends only!

I see a lot of you are doing c25k - I'd love to get back into running. Bought a jogging pram but just can't bring myself to do it, sticking with walking miles and miles at the minute!

whiteroseredrose · 26/07/2020 19:02

Is anyone weighing daily?

I started on Noom but found the pep talks really irritating.

They have you weighing yourself every morning which I quite like.

I've been the same weight for a couple of days but have gone over the 1200 calories so it's not surprising.

Used to weigh in weekly with WW back in the day and cheated more!

Unfortunately Ddog is getting old and walks very slowly. So I'm getting a lot less exercise. Need to think of something else.

hodgepodge21 · 26/07/2020 19:07

@whiteroseredrose I weigh daily. I started when a friend of mine who uses Noom recommended it. And I prefer it so much to weighing weekly! I find my weight can fluctuate a lot depending on eating carbs or salty food, or drinking alcohol. So doing it daily let's me take a weekly average rather than looking at one specific point in time where my weight could be anything! I use the Fitbit aria scale which is brill as it just bluetooths straight to my phone.

KurriKawari · 26/07/2020 19:14

I don't weight myself and have no scales either. I might do measurements though.

TheBuriedGiant · 26/07/2020 19:16

@Grimauldface
Good luck with your first c25k, you’ll feel great afterwards!

JamRolyPolyAnyone · 26/07/2020 19:37

Today I made a roast for family who were visiting. I had a small dinner - no mash or Yorkshire pud. I did have two roasties though - so a small amount of chicken, 2 roasties, cauliflower, carrots and peas. I thinned the gravy for my dinner too. I made a trifle for dessert and I DIDNT HAVE ANY! That’s a first so I’m giving myself a shiny 🏅 I had muesli for breakfast.

Visitors went so I took the dog for a walk (in the rain). I walked for about 40 mins (and 40 mins back). I’ve just got back and my pedometer is showing 9,550 steps. The remaining 450 steps will be done jogging on the spot when I’ve had a rest. I’m not feeling hungry at moment but will probably have some fruit later so I don’t raid the fridge at midnight.

Well Done to everyone who has lost weight. Some amazing weight losses here 👏👏👏

I’m going to throw some veg in a pan later and make veg soup for my lunch for the next few days.

Rldx2 · 26/07/2020 20:29

Well done for all the losses!! Can't wait to see some of my own soon 🤞🏻 I've weighed myself today and I'm sitting at 12st5! I'm officially overweight now! It's not a surprise but still a little upsetting!! Today I've been good, stuck to my 1200cals I actually came in just under, done over my 10000steps and drank a tonne of water!! I just need to make sure I keep the motivation going!!! Glad I've found you guys to help me along!!

KurriKawari · 26/07/2020 20:40

I like this thread it's must more realistic than others that I've followed thank you.

Grimauldface · 26/07/2020 20:52

@TheBuriedGiant
Thank you. I did indeed feel great after completing my first C25K run! I also did a 45 minute walk this evening with the kids. Not sure I'll be able to move tomorrow. Hoping to recover by Tuesday though so I can do run #2. When are you planning to run again?

MushMonster · 26/07/2020 21:01

I have put only half the shed up! That actually takes a lot os screwing, and bending and holding! I think I have spent more than 5 hours doing that! Still the roof to come up tomorrow.
Had coffee and small bowl of cereal with milk and bit of honey, two ham, pepperoni and salad wraps for lunch, and sausages with potatoes and peas for dinner. But I am using only small plates, apparently it tricks us into eating less.

MushMonster · 26/07/2020 21:03

I had two lemonades glasses, and a small yogurt too.
I want to have less coffees and milk/ lemonade, as I think I end up drinking quite a lot of my calories! So I am switching to ginger and lemon tea.

MushMonster · 26/07/2020 21:07

I really admire those of you who can run! That has never been my strength, not even when I was a kid. I can walk for a whole day, but running, no even 5 min. I am missing the gym.

MushMonster · 26/07/2020 21:12

My plan is to eat two of the 400 kcal meals, or one with soup and bread for dinner, only one coffee per day, nuts, fruit and yogurt as snack, and keep up with exercise.
It is fish (mackerel) and salad for tomorrow, with soup for dinner. Fruit smoothie yummySmile. And the shed...... it is roof time!

TheNewLook · 26/07/2020 21:34

I’ve noticed a lot of posters saying they’re drinking more water. Is that to fill you up or does it help with the metabolism?

hodgepodge21 · 26/07/2020 21:49

@TheNewLook I just find drinking more water helps in so many ways - makes me less hungry, makes my skin better, helps flush out any fluid retention etc. Plus there have been studies that drinking water massively boosts your metabolism as you mentioned! Especially cold water first thing in the morning apparently.

Savoury · 26/07/2020 21:50

I will join you ladies tomorrow! I have 2 stone to lose and then I will see how I'm doing.
@KurriKawari I have downloaded that Fastic app to help with 16:8 and 2 day fasting. Haven't tried this seriously before so fingers crossed.

sparklefarts · 26/07/2020 21:59

Can I join?
5ft 7 and somewhere between 16-17 stone

Have also started my own instagram lisagettinglighter if anyone wants to follow me on there

YeetYeet · 26/07/2020 22:15

Can I join? I started at 15st 8lbs mid lockdown and have lost a stone and a half so far in 8 weeks. I'm 5'9" and aiming for the middle of the ideal weight range for my height, which is 11st 7lbs.
21 lbs down, 36 to go.
Weigh in day tomorrow for me and hoping for a good week because last week was disappointing. I am doing fasting so have gone a bit more hard core this week to give it my best shot.

notevenamum1 · 26/07/2020 22:37

Me me me! I also have 3 stone to lose, with potential to even lost a bit more (5ft 8 and 14 stone) I started last week so will weigh in tomorrow. I have been doing 16:8 and having about 1200 cals but we had 2 big meals at the weekend which took me well over plus I started my period today so will need to see what effect that has had

notevenamum1 · 26/07/2020 22:38

I mean I got my period...it’s been more years than I can care to count since I started it Grin

morningtoncrescent62 · 26/07/2020 22:48

MrsMacTats & Grimauldface I'm about the same weight as you. I'm trying not to weigh daily, though, because I get obsessed when I do that. I weigh in on the last day of the month, and set a target for the next month once I know how I'm doing. My July target is 12st 10lb and Friday will be my day of reckoning. I'm feeling good about this month, though - not a single biscuit, cake, pastry or crisp has passed my lips!

My main issue is portion control. I cook mostly from scratch, but like comfort food and portions which are too big.

Yes, me too. I never feel satisfied after a 'normal' sized meal. I don't know whether that comes from decades of overeating, or I'm just wired wrongly. (Although I also have issues with compulsion - once a packet of biscuits or family-sized packet of crisps is open I wolf the lot. The only thing I can do is not have them in the house, easier now that my DDs have grown up and gone.)

itstrue · 27/07/2020 01:23

Joining up too!

I have 5 1/2 stones to lose. I started back on weight watchers online 2 weeks ago and I'm down 5 pounds so far.

Alcohol coupled with depression has got me in this position.
