Morning all! How is it July!

Welcome to the July lose 7lbs thread. All are welcome to join whether you are a regular, lurker, oldie, newbie, or a proper old timer like me 😂

All we ask for is the amazing support and positivity that I've seen in every single one of these threads so far. Last months thread is here June thread - lose 7lbs/3kg per month http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3925539-June-thread-lose-7lbs-3kg-per-month

Stats for me are:
Start weight (Dec 2018) 25 st 2lbs
Current weight: 17st 6lbs
Loss for June : 3lbs (boo 😳)
Total loss so far: 7st 10lbs

Would love to get into the 16s this month! I'm following WW green plan, I eat mainly plant based with a little dairy/cheese/gin thrown in. My aim this month is more plants and less gin 😂

Plan for today is OMAD - grapefruit segments to snack on throughout the morning and then a pea and mint risotto for dinner with side salad.

Have a fabulous 1st July everyone!

Happy Monday everyone! Been a busy one with work and kitten snuggling! She has been in a naughty mood today....

Had a good food day, fruit and veg delivery came which always cheers me up. I had a bag of quavers for lunch but then have eaten to late after working late and had a small portion of quorn and black bean chilli with salad and a flatbread.

Welcome to all the new joiners from the last few days :) I hope you like it here!

So if anyone ever needs evidence of what hormones and periods do to a woman's body.

Yesterday I was 10 stone 12.25

This morning in 10 stone 7.5

Apparently I've lost 5lbs over night! Don't believe it for a second but it was entertaining to look at on the scales ha

NerrSnerr · 07/07/2020 08:18

Morning all. No loss in a few days which may have something to do with Sunday's takeaway pizza. Back on it now though. Hoping to be joining you in the 11s soon @recklessgran.

Not sure what's on the menu, will have my usual spinach, banana, berries and oat milk smoothie for breakfast and then go from there.

Hollyhead · 07/07/2020 08:27

Just checking in, I've been not sticking to the plan and now can't bring myself to weigh in! However, I'm going to have a good day today and face up to the reality tomorrow!

riotlady · 07/07/2020 09:41

Hi everyone :) realise it’s not quite the start of the month but would love to join if that’s ok. Originally lost from 18 stone 2 down to 17 stone, but have managed to gain back 10lbs over the last few months

Shedtheload · 07/07/2020 09:47

Weighed this morning and now down to 79.9 so I am in the 70s, having started in the 90s. My goal weight is about 72 so I really feel like I am on the home straight now.

cricketmum84 · 07/07/2020 13:41

I'm still avoiding the scales thanks to the codeine effect. Antibiotics and steroids seem to be working but I think I just have to accept that this week they will have an effect on my weight and that's it's more important to get this awful shingles under control.

Plan for today is a peach for lunch and a couple of satsumas later. Am fuming because I bought a pot of plant based cream (which isn't cheap) to make a vegan carbonara for me and DD2 and bloody DD1 opened it "just to have a look" and it's now gone mouldy 😭 so now it's a tomato spaghetti/courgetti type dish.

@recklessgran I'm on the naughty step after a buttered cherry scone this morning. I didn't even enjoy it that much!

Doing amazing @Shedtheload!

We got this @Hollyhead. We are all allowed the occasional bad few days. Just need to get back on it and kick that motivation up the bum!!

Ha! Sorry I just missed you on the naughty step @Cricketmum84 - I was there last night after hotcrossbungate. Weight up a pound this morning thanks to that but still staying in the 11's.
Polishing my halo currently after having bacon and egg for lunch and staying on the keto wagon.
Will be glad when DD1 goes home and takes her hot cross buns with her. Just too much for me to resist smothered in Lurpak. Why, just why do they have to come in a packet of 6?
Come on @JessJonesJumps you can do this. Get thee back in the 11's!

peanutbutterdog · 07/07/2020 14:24

Hi, could I join too please? I have been following this thread since January as 7lb a month seemed achievable to lose, this is a constant group in comparison to threads that start with great intents and then disappear, and I love how supportive and encouraging you are to each other. My stats are:

SW (Jan 2020) - 16st 3lb, dress size 20
CW (start July 2020) - 12st 12lb, dress size loose 16
TW - around 11st and review after that.

I started cutting back on portions and not eating any rubbish during the week and managed to lose 7lb a month until end of April when it slowed up a bit during May, so I lowered carbs at beginning of June and things have moved down again. I'm also unintentionally doing 16:8 because I'm out of work at the moment and no-one in the house bothers getting up early so I have 3 meals between 11am-7pm.

I have a treat day on Saturday - youngest ds loves to bake two different things and I haven't worked out how to stop myself from sampling large portions of his treats!

WhatALearningCurve · 07/07/2020 17:38

@peanutbutterdog welcome! That weight loss is amazing! Well done!

recklessgran · 07/07/2020 19:09

@peanutbutterdog that loss is awesome! You're very welcome to join us - I'm busy trying to stay off the naughty step. Been there too often in the last couple of weeks but being good so far today.
Sausages and lots of runner beans for dinner tonight.

JessJonesJumps · 07/07/2020 21:51

It is our wedding anniversary today so I have climbed over the naughty step and ascended to the naughty throne - cake, chocolate, crisps and I'm eyeing the white wine and the gin as I type.
Tomorrow, I'll be back on OMAD and yoga and a walk ... pinkie promise. I may have watched Frozen 2 yesterday
Well done all you fabulous losers!

Smarshian · 08/07/2020 06:22

Morning all - not checked in for a few days. Been feeling very bloated for the last few days and struggling to get the weight down.
Weighed in at 10st 8.25 yesterday, so down 1.5lb since last week. I know I should be pleased but I always want quick weight loss.
Trying to get out of that mindset is difficult.
@peanutbutterdog that’s an amazing loss well done!
@JessJonesJumps I’m willing you back in the 11s. Just keep on keeping on!

Hollyhead · 08/07/2020 07:04

Morning, thank you for your bolstering words yesterday @Cricketmum84 I hope you feel your shingles are improved again today.

I braved the scales and I’m only 0.6kg up, and I feel bloated so hopefully some of this will come off easily, so 10 days ‘off the plan’ resulting in maintainance has got to be something to actually be pleased about right? 🙂

@Smarshian all those 1.5’s add up, I think it’s helpful to remember that other than when your start a diet it’s only really possible to achieve 2lb per week max anyway. If you look at calorie expenditure we only get 14000 calories a week to play with, then to cut 3500 for 1lb so actually 4lb per week if you ate literally nothing! But even then lots of people don’t need 2000 calories a day so it throws it out more.
In short - well done!

@JessJonesJumps sounds like a great anniversary.

@peanutbutterdog welcome! Is your username inspired by Bojack Horseman? I love that show 😄

Howmanysleepsnow · 08/07/2020 07:10

Hi all! I’ve weighed in again today and have lost nothing in the last 8 days. Calories have been 800-950 a day (at 1100 to 1200 I maintain) except yesterday when I had 1454 as I was fed up!
I’ve done a bit of extra exercise (4x weight training plus 1 short (2.5km) run with dd, and my steps have been over 10,000 a day.
I’m a bit fed up not losing. Any tips to get past the plateau and keep my willpower?

NerrSnerr · 08/07/2020 07:46

Morning all. I'm feeling back on track after my very large pizza on Sunday (and finishing it off Monday). It's my husband's birthday next week and my children want to make cookies and of course there'll be cake so I'll need to be very good.

The only pair of jeans I own that fit are going at the crotch so that's a massive incentive to get the next 7lbs.

Hope everyone is ok and @cricketmum84 is feeling better. I'm sure that little gain will come off quick @recklessgran.

NerrSnerr · 08/07/2020 07:47

Sorry, I meant @Hollyhead not @recklessgran. Too many names.

recklessgran · 08/07/2020 08:08

Morning all. Great anniversary @JessJonesJumps - happy to crown you queen of the naughty step for that. Has to be done sometimes. Don't worry you've got the whole of the rest of month before you're accountable....[@Cricketmum84 I'm sure I've got the wrong attitude there haven't I?]
@Howmanysleepsnow could you try cutting out all carbs and eating more protein and fat to stop yourself getting hungry - in other words try Keto for a few days. Something like bacon and egg for breakfast and meat and veg for dinner. I don't bother calorie counting - it's all about no carbs. Also drink a minimum of 2 litres of water a day. You will definitely lose doing that. I feel your pain - I lose nothing if I don't stay away from carbs completely even if I eat under 1,000 calories. I've been struggling to stick to it over the last couple of weeks though so I can't talk but I've lost 2 and a half stone doing this having failed miserably before with all kinds of other diets. Finally found the right one for me but struggling to behave at the moment - guess I'm getting bored as I've been on this quite restricted diet since January. Not complaining as I feel great and apparently look good too. Odd that I still see fat me when I look in the mirror though. Have a good day all.

GetTheStartyParted · 08/07/2020 09:42

Morning all. Happy Anniversary @JessJonesJumps Sounds like you enjoyed it. It's our anniversary on the 20th, we have a table booked in a restaurant for the 18th and fully intend to make the most of it! Grin 14 years together and 13 years married, I've spent most of it fat as well, my poor DH, I was so thin when he met me Wink

@Cricketmum84 I hope you're feeling better today Flowers

@Smarshian 1.5lb is great, it really does all add up - though I must confess that I feel disappointed when I have a smaller loss. It feels like it wasnt worth the effort but KOKO and you will see it is worth it.

@Howmanysleepsnow I agree with @recklessgran I am keto too, it's the easiest diet. I do count calories and check my macros but I can have 1400 at the moment and rarely exceed this even if I'm having a hungry day. Its crazy how many calories come from carbs. If you don't want to try keto, maybe look at eating clean (if you're not). So your calories only come from good sources, meat, veg, fruit and so on, avoiding processed food. And the water advice is good too.

Ecci · 08/07/2020 10:11

Weigh in today, down 1 lb since the beginning of the month, happy with that. @howmanysleepsnow I usually start the day with a treat, breakfast is a slice of toast with ginger marmalade (my favourite), then avoid carbs for other meals, and have 4 or 5 mini pretzels about 9 pm, which I nibble at, so they last. It works for me because I'm having a couple of little treats each day. I've had a couple of plateaus over the last year and they are dismal, but you have to stick at it. Sending you supportive hugs.

Howmanysleepsnow · 08/07/2020 18:55

@recklessgran @GetTheStartyParted how long do I need to low carb for it to work? I could manage a few days, but would miss the occasional bit of toast/ rice/ glass of wine. I might try what @Ecci suggested if it’d be a longer term no carb thing! I can definitely up my water too.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions and support.

recklessgran · 08/07/2020 19:06

@Howmanysleepsnow I lost 6lbs in the first week of Keto. I know a lot of that was water but even so I found it most encouraging! I think you need to do what you think you can manage but I'm an all or nothing kind of a girl so @Ecci's method wouldn't work for me as one thing would lead to another if you know what I mean. Toast in my case. Lots of toast.

JessJonesJumps · 08/07/2020 19:32

Thanks for all the anniversary wishes. @GetTheStartyParted we're 13 years too! Although have known each other for over 20.
All the keto posts inspired me so I am low carbing the rest of the week. I did yoga today but no walk. Will hopefully catch up tomorrow or I might even do another yoga session tonight Shock that would be a first for me!

GetTheStartyParted · 08/07/2020 19:34

I lost 10lbs in my first week (but I was 15st5 Blush )

I find the food is so enjoyable on keto. Today I have had strawberries and cream for breakfast, tuna salad for lunch and the sausages, roasted celariac and broccoli for dinner.

Another day could be bacon and egg for brunch, then steak, asparagus and creamy garlic mushroom sauce for dinner. Its rich and filling so you don't feel deprived.

cricketmum84 · 08/07/2020 19:49

I so wish it was easier to low carb and stay vegetarian!

Today I have had 2 light babybel, a slice of sourdough and about to have a small portion of mushroom risotto. Defo need to get back to lower carbs and more good healthy veggie protein.

Still not weighing until all medication finished and my body is back to normal. Too much inflammation and stomach issues going on for an accurate result at the moment.
