Morning all! How is it July!

Welcome to the July lose 7lbs thread. All are welcome to join whether you are a regular, lurker, oldie, newbie, or a proper old timer like me 😂

All we ask for is the amazing support and positivity that I've seen in every single one of these threads so far. Last months thread is here June thread - lose 7lbs/3kg per month http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3925539-June-thread-lose-7lbs-3kg-per-month

Stats for me are:
Start weight (Dec 2018) 25 st 2lbs
Current weight: 17st 6lbs
Loss for June : 3lbs (boo 😳)
Total loss so far: 7st 10lbs

Would love to get into the 16s this month! I'm following WW green plan, I eat mainly plant based with a little dairy/cheese/gin thrown in. My aim this month is more plants and less gin 😂

Plan for today is OMAD - grapefruit segments to snack on throughout the morning and then a pea and mint risotto for dinner with side salad.

Have a fabulous 1st July everyone!

Hi all. I’ve been on before under different names.
My recent history is putting on in March and April, losing in May but up one kg in June.
I’m aiming for a 2kg loss this month which doesn’t sound like a lot but will make a difference to me. All my weight is around my tum so I’ve slim arms and legs and then a spare tyre round the middle.
My DD poked my belly the other day and delighted informed me it’s got bigger. She’s not wrong.
My motto is move more eat less, so I’ll be doing that. I’ve got to curb my evening snacking too which is probably where the big belly comes from.
I’m going to read everyone else’s posts for motivation and report losses weekly.
Good luck everyone!

@recklessgran thats impressive! Well done!

Ooh is there a set day to weigh in or anything like that? Or is it just whenever people feel like posting updates?

@Ecci I found your post really helpful/inspiring - you’re a great example of slow and steady wins the race (I hope that sounds like a compliment - it’s meant as one!) I would love to lose 7lbs this month but have a similar amount to lose as you and if I do lb a week it shows I can get there

@MoonNoodles welcome, and same to other new joiners. Some people weigh every day and report back, others do it sporadically, but everyone seems to weigh at least once a week. I usually weigh on a monday, but seeing as we have started a new month, I will weigh on a Wednesday this month, so I can keep on top of weekly weight.

Wow, @recklessgran I am full of admiration for how much you juggled! I find it hard enough being at home with just the one 6 year old, I’m furloughed until September, so not even trying to work from home! That is hard in itself though, I suppose, as my job is a big part of my identity, and having been away since March is taking its toll really. I am craving adult contact outside of the few people I see around the village and my immediate family. Anyway, hope you got on ok with the titslammer (that name makes me shudder!)

@MoonNoodles, no set day for weighing or posting for that matter. My weigh day is a Monday so I normally post it here but I am a daily weigher in real life. I also try to post daily as it makes me a bit more accountable. There aren't any rules at all as far as I'm aware. Just do whatever suits - we're mainly just trying to help each other through this led by the amazing @CricketMum84!
@SconNotScone I promise you I was probably off my head for years meeting myself coming back if the truth be known. [A great DH and very laid back DD's makes all the difference in this case I can tell you.]
Titslammer didn't go ahead in the end. Ridiculous, but the last one I had was last August and as you can only have 1 a year they couldn't do it since it's only July. Someone made a cock up and sent me an appointment too early. Apparently I'll be getting an appointment for another meeting next month. SO cross with myself now about the toast which it seems I ate for NOTHING girls. Long live the wonderful NHS though - I wouldn't be here without them!

@Cyllie33 Thank you, I hope its helpful. The lovely people here are so supportive, it's helped me enormously, because it seemed impossible at the start. I know a lot of people have lost weight faster, but I wanted to find a way of eating that I could stick to, that is sustainable and that I could lose weight with and I think I've done that. This is the least I've weighed for many years and I can't quite believe that I'm not still obese. In my head, I'm still a fat girl and maybe that's also helped me keep going. I do have treats at times but so far I've always managed to stay on track afterwards. Most months I've lost about 4lbs (although December was a very pathetic 0.6lbs). Good luck and good losing.

Evening all!

Highest weight 13 stone 10 - multiple diets got me to 12 stone 4 but never lower before it rose again

This time round:

Starting weight: 12 stone 9.7
Current weight: 10 stone 12.5
Goal weight: 9 stone 7 (and then I’ll reassess)

Goal for this month will be to get under 10stone 6.5 which would put me into a healthy BMI. This is the first time ever I’ve lost more weight than I need to lose and my goal weight actually feels achievable. It’s all very exciting ha.

I’m calorie counting using MFP. I need to stick to under 1400 and most days eat between 1000 & 1200. I weigh every day so that I know how my body varies but I only take real note of my Monday weigh in.

Had a “none scale victory today”. Tried on a second parcel of things from ASOS - only work stuff so nothing exciting but they were all 12’s and they all fit. No squeezing myself into them, no delusion (I think) they just all zipped up and fitted.

I cannot remember the last time I was a 12. Like an actual real life try anything on 12 compared to a maybe in that style from that shop 12.

That made me laugh Grin I relate to it so much. I bought new clothes today which are the first ones since I started losing weight- just leggings and a top for yoga. I don't know if I'll ever be brave enough to do yoga outside the house (my dodgy back means I have to miss certain exercises) but at least I will look a bit more put together at home when I'm exercising.

Oh and start date this time round was 20th April so just under 2 stone (26lb) in 10 weeks.

@jessjonesjumps I'm glad someone got what I meant ha. I keep trying to buy new real life clothes but I just have no idea how to shop anymore. I need a personal shopper ha

Hey

Start weight: 12st8lb (end of May)
Height: 5'6"
Current weight: 12st 1 lb
Aiming for: 11st

I've been calorie counting to 1200 and for the last few weeks I starting doing IF at 16:8 or 17:7.

I'm a nightmare for getting on the scales everyday Confused which is so frustrating when I've "put on".

I'd love to lose 7lbs this month but think that 4lb would be a bit more attainable?

Good luck everyone!

Oh @cricketmum84 that is so exciting! Please post a photo when s/he arrives! We would love a pet in our house. Sadly I’m very allergic to cats. We have always said we would love a dog, but have never been around enough to really settle one into the home. I know there is lots of talk about lockdown not being an appropriate time to get a dog, but it actually would have worked out perfectly for us, all of us have been at home for months, my husband isn’t returning to his office until next year, if at all! I think a dog really would have brought a lot of happiness into the household!

Congrats to you @WhatALearningCurve on fitting in to your 12s! That was a big thing for me, getting into size 12 shorts! Feels so good!

I got up early this morning to do a workout. I’ve started the month attempting to do the Rebecca Louise “It Takes Grit summer series” on youtube. It’s 30 days of workouts, some days they are only 10 minutes, other days they are 30 mins, a mix of hiit, weights, body weight, yoga/Pilates/barre, etc. Today was toned arms and chest, yesterday was abs. The workouts are good, she is incredibly chatty though, i have had to turn the volume down a bit 😂

In 2019, I went from 13stone 5 to 10 stone 4 but throughout 2020, I hovered above and below 11 stone. ( I'm 5'9" so that is fine for me but 10stone 4 was finer!!!)
I'm afraid I've put on the classic Quarantine 15, or possibly more. I've had to buy new clothes back in size 16 where I started. So afraid, in fact, I haven't got on the scales. It would be too depressing to confirm that all my hard work was for nothing.
I started my 1200 calories last week. I'm doing 3 weeks strict -- and then I'll weigh myself and hopefully it won't be as depressing as I thought.
I go fairly low carb- but really as a means to low calorie. I log everything on MyFitnessPal for accountability. I'm very sedentary at the moment. My only usual exercise is swimming and there's still no date for pools to reopen. It's hell trying to diet when you've got to feed teenage boys who seem to need 4000 calories a day to remain stick thin.

Hi everyone, just checking in. Welcome to @MoonNoodles and any other new joiners. I had a not so great day yesterday, so getting back on track today. I only really need to lose 1.5kg this month to get to my best maintainance weight. It's so tempting to give up, but if I do I'll have no wriggle room for blips at this weight. So it's about keeping it up!

Some motivation coming from the fact that I may actually have to go in to work early August, and my work trousers are still a bit indecently snug :D

So many of you are just fab inspiration on here :)

Good morning all. That's lovely news @cricketmum84

My scales have finally moved and I'm 12st2, only 1lb down but at least it's gong in the right direction. Hoping to be joining the others in the 11s soon.

My husband needs to go to the bank today so I think the three year old and I will tag along to go and have a walk around the docks to see some boats- a change of scenery to the usual walks we have been doing.

I weighed myself this morning as I do every Thursday and thought I'd lost 1 lbs as just looked at the .12 then I had to get back on because it somehow said 9 st 12.

So lost 4 lbs is that right ? I was 10 stone 2 last week ... seems unlikely I did weigh in twice .. maybe my scales need a new battery?!

Report
Chickenitalia · 02/07/2020 13:42

@ishouldgoandtryabitofit it could be genuine, I’ve certainly had weeks where I lost nothing despite being good all week, and then had a big jump the week after. I retain a LOT of water just before/day 1-2 of AF and then spend day 3 in the bathroom, honestly I’ve lost 6lbs in a day before! Timing is everything. By all means change the battery if you think it needs it but it’s entirely possible! If that’s what it said I think I would take it tbh!

I had a low alcohol cider last night, it tasted like apple juice and was still almost 100 cals. Not worth it but might be ok for a few days while I work out what other drinks will be good once the kids are in bed. Cals came in at 1310 for the day which I was pleased with.

Any suggestions for low cal and non-alcohol or caffeine drinks much appreciated!

@cricketmum84 how exciting about cricketkitten! We spent most of our walk last night coming up with names for our imaginary dog Grin

Welcome to all the newbies and well done on all the losses already!

I'm slightly up this morning which confused me since I did yoga and a 3 mile walk yesterday but then I remembered DS opened a box of maltesers last night ... they are so moreish! Blush

I know! Not sure how cricketcat will feel about cricketkitten but we shall see...

Food plan for today is weird again. Haven't eaten yet but might have a couple of babybels and some grapes soon as am feeling quite hungry now! Dinner is 2 cauldron sausages with loads of tenderstem broccoli and some butternut squash wedges. I had forgotten how restrictive ww green is and everything I type in comes up with loads of points 😂 but am being good to put it in before I eat it rather than having an oops moment after....

Evening everyone - late one after very hectic day. Ooh, a thread kitten now that will be lovely @CricketMum84 - reckless cat is antisocial so no chance of baby kitty here even though I would love one.
Crumbs there are some brilliant losses going on - well done everyone. I'm just staying the same but not expecting any sudden drastic changes as my losses have slowed right down now. However a non scale victory today was that a linen dress I ordered in a size 14 was miles too big and I have reordered in a 12. I'm sure it's just a case of flattery sizing or what ever it's called but it's at least 25 years since I wore a size 12 so I still feel a tiny bit chuffed about it.
Pork chop, runner beans and pepper sauce for dinner followed by sugar free jelly and a 2 hour phone catch up with DD5.
Not sure what's on the agenda for tomorrow yet - it's my day off so will see g/f although our pub lunch is still not possible. Will try to be good and make wise choices to keep myself off the naughty step.

Weighed in this morning and I have now officially lost 12 kilos. That’s just under 2 stone in 14 weeks. I am pretty chuffed. Seeing as it’s still very early July, 3 more by the end of the month would be awesome.

I am doing 16:8 at the moment and love it. I was worried I was plateauing a few weeks ago but starting IF really helped to get things moving again even though I am eating the same as before.

Morning all! Weighed in this morning to see my first pound off for the month! Will be happy if that continues!

The shingles rash is still ongoing, it's infected again and looks like I may need more antibiotics. Waiting on the doctor to ring back but I barely slept last night for the pain :( the only thing keeping me going is the thought of our new baby!!

Plan for today is a big vitamin C boost so a tin of grapefruit for breakfast, then a couple of satsumas for lunch. Dinner is quorn fishless fillets with mushy peas :) must avoid DH's amazing homemade triple cooked chips. May allow a slice of nimble bread if I have enough points.

Loving seeing all these losses coming in already! I'm so impressed! It does make me push myself harder to keep up with you all!

I've had a bit of a blip and spent a couple of days on the naughty step - I think I focused so hard on June that my brain decided I was done 🙄😂
So gave myself a bloody good talking to, put down the chocolate profiteroles (oops) and I think I've got myself in a better frame of mind for the rest of July
