Morning all! How is it July!

Welcome to the July lose 7lbs thread. All are welcome to join whether you are a regular, lurker, oldie, newbie, or a proper old timer like me 😂

All we ask for is the amazing support and positivity that I've seen in every single one of these threads so far. Last months thread is here June thread - lose 7lbs/3kg per month http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3925539-June-thread-lose-7lbs-3kg-per-month

Stats for me are:
Start weight (Dec 2018) 25 st 2lbs
Current weight: 17st 6lbs
Loss for June : 3lbs (boo 😳)
Total loss so far: 7st 10lbs

Would love to get into the 16s this month! I'm following WW green plan, I eat mainly plant based with a little dairy/cheese/gin thrown in. My aim this month is more plants and less gin 😂

Plan for today is OMAD - grapefruit segments to snack on throughout the morning and then a pea and mint risotto for dinner with side salad.

Have a fabulous 1st July everyone!

Morning all, just checking in.

Feeling a bit rubbish this morning. Note to self: don’t weigh yourself the day after eating a big plate of pasta 😭 I hate how carbs bloat me so much ew, literally gained 3lbs of water (well I hope it’s water and not fat!)

Anyway going to try and have a good day today.

@cricketmum84 well done on losing the pound, I hope you can get your antibiotics asap. So exciting about getting a kitty, you’ll have to post some cute pics 😍😍 I recently lost my cat (he was very old) and I miss having a fur baby so much they bring so much ❤️

@recklessgran well done, that must be a lovely feeling getting into a 12! Xxx

recklessgran · 03/07/2020 09:55

@Cricketmum84 that sounds nasty - I do hope you can get something to help you. Honestly, you need to rest to aid healing - that's a bit of a joke given the need to work, run a house, home school and the million and one other things we have to do. Anyway, thinking of you and sending hugs 'cos you feel rubbish.
@MonicaBingaling I too gain weight instantly if I eat carbs - well toast in my case. You're right it definitely is water gain. I've read about that. I understand that you would need to eat 3.000 extra calories to gain a real pound so try not to worry about your one plate of pasta. The only way that would be a problem is if you then had another and another after that. [Pot calling the kettle black here since one slice of toast always leads to another .....and another!] Anyway I'm currently sitting here polishing my halo and have consumed no toast since totslammer day. [O.K. I know that was only 2 days ago - but still.]
Have a good day all will catch you lot later.

recklessgran · 03/07/2020 09:56

Oops sorry - typo titslammer not totslammer!

Bella444 · 03/07/2020 10:49

Weighed in at 12.1 for the third day on the trot. I MUST STOP WEIGHING EVERY DAY.

JessJonesJumps · 03/07/2020 12:37

Slightly up again today but I am still clinging on to being in the 11s by my fingertips. I need to have a more structured approach to eating. I've got into the habit of letting DS stay up a bit later and we watch something trashy/fun/family in bed but invariably he will sneak some snacks in too ... and then I eat them. So, tonight - no bedtime snacks. I figure if I reduce my eating window and hide from the Maltesers , it might kickstart my weight loss.
I'm at a Zoom conference for the next two days and last night's session ended with wine ... so I'll factor a glass of wine or a G&T into my calories for today and tomorrow too. I guess I should really do OMAD but I'm not sure my willpower is up to it atm.
cricket I hope the shingles pain starts to reduce. It's awful that it's lasted so long Flowers

WhatALearningCurve · 03/07/2020 13:02

@JessJonesJumps I've started buying those multi packs of "fun sized" chocolates. I mean it's a massive lie because there's nothing fun about such a small packet but as someone who can easily eat one of those massive boxes of Malteasers alone within minutes it helps take the edge off.

Plus I've learnt a lot of my eating is psychological - so I would happily eat my way through a massive amount of chocolate if it was in one bag. But I wouldn't sit there and open multiple bags. So it definitely helps the calories but I still feel like I'm getting a treat

JessJonesJumps · 03/07/2020 13:10

Yy that's a good idea. We had those at the start of lockdown. They were left over from Hallowe'en because DS doesn't usually eat much chocolate. But during lockdown we've eaten all our Hallowe'en and Easter chocolate, and all our Hallowe'en sweets Grin
I'll need to see if I can get some fun-sized multi-packs in my next shop.

Smarshian · 03/07/2020 13:36

Morning all. Just checking in. DH ordered us all a pizza treat last night. I only had half and lots of salad with mine and balanced it out with soup for lunch and fruit for breakfast so not too bad.
Really want to get under 10.8 by next weekend when we will see some friends we’ve not seen for a while.
Weighed in this morning 10st9.5 again, drinking lots of water in the Hope I’ll be down tomorrow.

Squashbanana125 · 03/07/2020 15:53

Hi everyone, joining in here

I’m not new to weight loss and was posting on another post but thought I’d give this thread a go

Sw: 10’10 on 18 may
Cw: 9’11
Lost 13 lbs in 6 weeks

Been following the 16:8. Normally skip breakfast and eat between 12-8 or 1-9
Finding it so easy. I wouldn’t say I restrict anything. But I’m mindful of what I have. Prob averaging 1200 cals a day with 1/2 days a week eat more And have a treat. Don’t really drink alcohol. Think have 2 drinks since lockdown. That’s never been my Issue

Aim is probably about 9’8 and go from there. I’m 5’5. Weirdly enough even though I’m nearly a stone lighter I don’t feel great. I really need to work on my body positivity. As still look at my belly and arms and don’t like what I see which I know isn’t good.

Today
B fast
L wettabix and skimmed milk
D tuna steaks and salad
Snack be Greek yogurt and berries & apricot fruit

Cricketmum84 · 03/07/2020 23:00

Thank you for the well wishes. Had a video call with the GP and he has prescribed me antibiotics, steroids and a cream and then potentially some antivirals if it doesn't clear up after all that. Unfortunately I won't have all my medication until Monday so will be taking a hell of a lot of codeine until then which I know bungs me up so imagine I will see a small gain over the next few days until everything settles so I'm just not going to weigh for the next 7 days.

Hello @Squashbanana125 and welcome to the group. Sounds like you have made a great start already!

@JessJonesJumps DD2 is terrible for this too. She is a pain for staying up later during lockdown and cracking open a pack of salt and vinegar sticks and wanting to share 😂

@MonicaBingaling and @recklessgran I'm another one who sees an almost instant gain from carb intake. Damn you tasty pasta!

Done my meal plan for the week and it looks pretty good. All meals I can supplement with a lot of veg and allowed one dessert night as I've got rhubarb coming in my veg box on Monday so the law dictates I must make an amazing oaty crumble 😍

Love crumble @Cricketmum84 hope you are feeling ok this morning!
Weighed in this morning at 10st 8lb so down 1.5lb from Wednesday. Very pleased with that. Need to not ruin it over the weekend!

NerrSnerr · 04/07/2020 08:48

Morning all. Really hope you start feeling better soon @cricketmum84.

I weighed this morning and am 12st1 so that's 2lb gone so far this month. I will have a few drinks tonight with friends over Zoom so won't worry too much about calories but will try and eat well during the day.

About to go on my weekly supermarket trip. It seems to get more expensive every week!!

Cricketmum84 · 04/07/2020 09:16

Morning all, slept a bit better now I have succumbed to the 30mg co-codamol. Thankfully it's reducing the pain enough for now. I seriously need these antibiotics as the infection on my back is an abscess. I'm a bit worried about leaving it over the weekend to be honest but following my mums instructions of loose fitting clothes and putting a hot flannel soaked in salt water over it. The GP didn't seem too concerned that I was about to get sepsis anything though.

Plan for today is KITTEN DAY!!!!!!! Will post pics once we get home with her. I am just too excited!! Still arguing over names though so I may need some help. We all have a preferred name and none of us agree.

Fruit snack day with a couple of light babybels thrown in for protein. Dinner is quorn southern fried burger with salad (no bread).

Happy Saturday everyone!!

I'd like to join in if it's not too late! I've not done badly during lockdown so far - something about being more in control has worked for me and I've lost around 7lbs for each of the lockdown months. But I'm starting to lose momentum now, and I'd love to have some company to keep me going.

Starting weight (April 2020) 14 stone 11 lbs
Weight now: 13 stone 3 lbs

I'm a lifelong yo-yo dieter and I really want things to be different this time round. I want to establish a pattern of eating that I can maintain long-term, and I've set a goal weight of around 11 stone (which is still significantly overweight for my height) because I know when I go below that I start to feel starved and the inevitable happens. To be honest I'd be happy with losing about 4-5 lbs for each of the next few months if it can get me nearer to where I want to be without feeling starved, desperate and obsessive.

Onesmallstep67 · 04/07/2020 11:24

Morning. Good to hear that you are feeling a little better @Cricketmum84. And very jealous of all the cute cuddles coming your way with cricketkitten
No progress so far this month. Maybe a tiny smidgen. Think I have just missed a cycle as still no TOTM. Feeling slightly less ravenous.
Hopefully by my next update at least 1lb will have gone. Finding it difficult to motivate myself to get out walking or even on the exercise bike. Maybe time for me to set myself a timetable for food and exercise.

MonicaBingaling · 04/07/2020 11:53

Morning everyone, weighed this morning and I’m almost 2lbs down for July so far, so I’m really happy with that, however I’m due on period any day so don’t want to weigh until that’s over!

Got quite a headache today and life has been very stressful with my 2 year old as the terrible 2s have well and truly kicked in Sad

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend! Can’t wait to see pics of kitten @Cricketmum84

Welcome new people and well done for all the losses

RHTawneyonabus · 04/07/2020 12:04

I’d like to join! I’ve been working out since lockdown and think I’ve lost weight (I haven’t weighed myself before just know I was chubby!) I need to loose 6lbs to be in the ‘healthy’ BMI range so that’s what I plan to do in July.

I don’t really do diets but I’ve been doing 16:8 for ages and I’ve really stepped up the exercise. Running 5k every other day. I’m going to start the shred next week, and just try not to snack!

GetTheStartyParted · 04/07/2020 12:15

Afternoon everyone Smile

I have just had my brunch of bacon, cheese and an egg. DH always cooks a variety of this on a Saturday and Sunday morning. Then we have a midafternoon snack if hungry and dinner later. One of the best things about keto Wink

Hope you feel better soon @Cricketmum84 and @MonicaBingaling

Hello babyBetsy ! She is so cute @Cricketmum84 !
Your posts aren't showing as green or as the OP anymore cricketmum . I think it's because the C is uppercase now rather than lower case.

Weight is slightly up again this morning - boo! But my new yoga clothes have arrived - hurrah! They are my incentive to do yoga every day and to become someone who can be photographed in yoga clothes lol Grin

cricketmum84 · 04/07/2020 14:59

She is doing good @JessJonesJumps few hisses and growls between her and Ivycat but I'm hoping that settles over the next few days. She is being a very good girl and used her tray straight away. Currently laid sleeping on me so I can't get out a beer or any crisps 😂 my little diet helper 😂
