Morning all! How is it July!

Welcome to the July lose 7lbs thread. All are welcome to join whether you are a regular, lurker, oldie, newbie, or a proper old timer like me 😂

All we ask for is the amazing support and positivity that I've seen in every single one of these threads so far. Last months thread is here June thread - lose 7lbs/3kg per month http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3925539-June-thread-lose-7lbs-3kg-per-month

Stats for me are:
Start weight (Dec 2018) 25 st 2lbs
Current weight: 17st 6lbs
Loss for June : 3lbs (boo 😳)
Total loss so far: 7st 10lbs

Would love to get into the 16s this month! I'm following WW green plan, I eat mainly plant based with a little dairy/cheese/gin thrown in. My aim this month is more plants and less gin 😂

Plan for today is OMAD - grapefruit segments to snack on throughout the morning and then a pea and mint risotto for dinner with side salad.

Have a fabulous 1st July everyone!

Ooh can I join, I need a kick up the butt and some motivation! I have lost 26 pounds since May but have been faffing around losing the same two pounds the last three weeks or so!

GetTheStartyParted · 28/07/2020 17:34

@Ecci I really hope you lose the pound but what an achievement anyway! Well done.

@Onesmallstep67 21 weeks until Christmas Shock I have around 26lbs until I'm a healthy weight - I will do it this year and start 2021 with a decent BMI! I like how you set yourself sensible targets. I always set myself up to fail Grin

Hi and welcome @wrensandrobins Well done with the 26lbs loss, what have you been doing to lose weight?

wrensandrobins · 28/07/2020 17:44

@GetTheStartyParted just calorie counting, I was already very active! Nothing special, but it seems to be working! It's the longest I have managed to focus I think! Normally I have come off track and started to stuff my face by now!

GetTheStartyParted · 28/07/2020 17:53

@wrensandrobins it definitely seems to be working for you Smile

MonicaBingaling · 28/07/2020 18:26

Well done @Ecci that’s amazing!!!!! Star

cricketmum84 · 28/07/2020 21:28

Yay I've finished work until Monday!! Can't wait for a few days off and cracking out my new sun loungers on Friday. No plans except for a bit of rest and relaxation.

Still need to put everything into mfp but today have had
B - skipped just water and then a Diet Coke
L - 4 wheat crackers and 2 babybel light
D - broccoli cheese

Welcome to new joiners and well done on the losses! I do really love seeing them coming in even though I'm still stalling. Few more days of low carb and I'll be joining you :)

Morning!

I finally weighed myself after my 2 day binge (after being good for the 3rd day) and surprisingly I’ve not gained or lost and I am STILL the same! 9st 13

My body just doesn’t seem to want to move from this no matter what I do. I feel like maybe this is it for my weight loss journey as my body just seems to want to stay at this weight. Scale hasn’t moved for almost 2 weeks now Sad

Seriously conisidering giving up Sad

Shedtheload · 29/07/2020 10:09

That’s frustrating Monica. How tall are you? If you’re within the healthy BMI range it might be the right point for your body. My goal weight is the top end of the healthy range because I know that I can never maintain a lower weight. You could always take a break and focus on maintaining for a bit, maybe keeping an eye on any things that you find difficult about it and then try dropping the calories again for a bit to get some more off. I know the frustration though. It’s harder towards the end when it’s really not coming off very fast at all. Part of it is that the body naturally needs fewer calories as your weight drops so it takes more effort to get a proper deficit. I remember the days at the beginning when my TDEE was 2,500. Lol. If I exercise a lot I can just about get it up to 2250 these days so it means I have to be more careful with food.

MonicaBingaling · 29/07/2020 17:00

@Shedtheload it’s extremely frustrating and demotivating too. I literally feel like giving up at the moment. I am 5’7 and in middle of healthy range but I have a lot of body fat to lose so I want to get back to 9 stone (that’s what I was a few years back) this is still in the healthy range for me but I will look much leaner as I still have lots of flabby bits I want to lose.

I am particularly struggling today as I don’t feel well at all and thinking I may have to get tested for corona which is very scary. It’s been a hard week as my 2 year old is a handful atm too and I’m a single parent.

I really don’t want to give up my weight loss journey but I don’t know what to do as the scales are just not moving. I’ve already cut even more carbs and not even having my usual porridge for breakfast which is hard as I love it x

Howmanysleepsnow · 29/07/2020 17:27

@MonicaBingaling I’m stuck on a plateau too (but slightly shorter than you and 4lb heavier). I’ve been at 10st 3lb for 5 days. At the start of the month I had a couple of weeks at 10st 8lb. Keep going and if your body behaves like mine you might get a sudden dramatic drop as it moves between plateaus. I think me and my body have very different goals!

I’m away part of next month, so it’ll be a challenge being away from the scales, particularly as my body seems quite resistant to my efforts! I’m packing a tape measure though: my waist has gone from 33” to 28.7” in the last 2 months and I’m determined not to let it creep back up!

Shedtheload · 29/07/2020 17:43

Monica maybe you should leave the weight loss and focus on strength training, as this will decrease your body fat and make you smaller, even if it doesn’t decrease your weight. After all, nobody can see the number on the scale when you walk around but they can see muscle tone. There are lots of inspirational accounts online of women who have transformed their bodies but their weight has stayed the same or increased even though they look loads slimmer.

MonicaBingaling · 29/07/2020 19:00

@Shedtheload I would love to do that but I have injuries preventing me Sad

Unfortunately I can only do gentle cardio.

I always wonder how tiny girls stay so tiny. Do they consistently eat salads? Or are they naturally like it? Feels so unfair when I’m working so hard and not getting anywhere anymore

Shedtheload · 29/07/2020 19:12

Oh no, that’s a shame that your injuries mean you can’t do exercise. I think a lot of very tiny people do eat quite small amounts and have a small appetite. I think a lot of them are quite active too and move around quite a bit. I think it’s a bit of a myth that loads of skinny people can eat what they like. They might be able to eat what they like but what they like is not the same as what overweight people would like to eat. The women I know who are super slim tend to self-regulate and eat less if they’ve had a big meal whereas I don’t do that naturally.

I think a lot depends on your bone structure too. If you have a small frame, a low weight is more realistic than if you have a larger one.

cricketmum84 · 29/07/2020 19:48

Well I've had a lovely quiet day, finished my book, had a long nap and avoided baking although I may do some tomorrow when I'm not sore tired.

So far today I've had a Clive of bred with cheese spread on and a packet of French fries, really lazy tea of quorn nuggets and kfc style gravy for dipping. My last few pieces of corn that I was going to bake have gone manky :(

@MonicaBingaling please done give up. You can do this, we are all in this together!!

July has been a complete write-off for me. This may be the first month, since I started, when I gain rather than lose. I think I need to dig out some old photos to help motivate me. and step away from the carbs and towards the yoga

cricketmum84 · 30/07/2020 07:05

I think I was still half asleep when I wrote my post yesterday! New nails plus sleepy head = really really bad typing!

Still 17.4 today even though I am eating very little although I am eating all the wrong things. Veg delivery due today though so hopefully that will give me a kick up the bum!

Plan for today is:
Am plenty of water and a good book!
L - some sort of salad (will travel through my recipe books to find something exciting)
D - baked peppers with spicy quorn mince

Happy Thursday! Just one more day of June to go!!

Morning everyone!

So the good news is....
The scales have FINALLY moved! And I’ve lost 1.5lbs

The bad news is....
It almost killed me! Cut nearly all carbs and only had 1000 cals yesterday which is not sustainable whatsoever!

Don’t really know where I go from here but I’m happy to finally break the plateau.

Feeling so grateful for the lovely people on here, the support is amazing! I’m glad I didn’t give up @Cricketmum84 @Shedtheload

Shedtheload · 30/07/2020 09:03

Yay that’s great Monica!! Sounds like your body just needed a bit of a shock before letting go of the weight. I haven’t tried it but have heard good things about calorie cycling where you work out your calories for a week but spread them unevenly so you have one day where you might eat 2000 and another where you eat 1000. Apparently it stops your body getting used to a set number of calories. I might try it when I hit another plateau.

cricketmum84 · 30/07/2020 09:03

I was obviously still half asleep this morning too as it is July not June 🤣🤣🤣 god I don't even know what day it is at the moment. I definitely need these few days off to recover from the craziness!

Excellent news @MonicaBingaling I hope I'm joining you in the next few days with a bit of a shift!

Can I sneak in and join right at the end of July? I’ve lost on average 1kg a week for 9 weeks, but losing a bit of motivation and still have 41kg to go to hit a healthy weight...

Shedtheload · 30/07/2020 11:14

Hi Bellajay. 9 kg is a great amount so well done. I am sure cricketmum84 or someone else will set up a new thread for August so hopefully you can join that one too. I think taking it month by month is a great approach. If you think about all you need to lose it can seem daunting but if you stuck to the 3 kg a month for a year, that would be 36 kg!

cricketmum84 · 30/07/2020 11:23

I'll get August thread up and running tomorrow and link back... hopefully I get the month right this time 😂😍

bellajay · 30/07/2020 12:47

@Shedtheload yeah I agree, it’s a really manageable target and looking at it over the month allows you to factor in a relaxed weekend for a special occasion or whatever. Hopefully some support will help me maintain momentum!

GetTheStartyParted · 30/07/2020 16:30

Afternoon everyone Smile

I have had a very busy few days at work - my lovely manager recognised this and thanked me for my hard work, I love my boss! I have had a nap this afternoon, which I really needed. And finally, after moving to 3am starts at the start of the pandemic, we are back to 5am starts next week. Can't wait for a lie in! Grin

My diet is the same as usual, plodding on. We are off to the seaside tomorrow so I need to pack a little picnic for myself in case I can't find any keto options while DH and DS eat fish and chips.

Sunday is a meal out - where I will be breaking my diet, but its my birthday then so it doesn't count Grin On the plus side, I have done 3 workouts this week. They made me ache!

@Cricketmum84 I'm glad to hear you rested on your well deserved day off.

Hi @bellajay and well done on your loss so far. Try not to get too caught up with the overall amount you want to lose, it really does all add up.
At the beginning of my diet, I was losing a lot eaxh week. When it slowed down I got disheartened but as its consistent, I am 6 months in and so much closer to target than ever before.

Well done @MonicaBingaling Hope you're not still starving yourself!

bellajay · 30/07/2020 19:39

Thanks @GetTheStartyParted Smile yes trying to think long term and think of different ways to stay motivated. I’ve got a first target of 10kg lost so only 1kg away from that which is great! Should probably think of a way to treat myself when I hit that. Hope you have a great birthday weekend! Sounds like you have lovely plans!
