Morning all! How is it July!

Welcome to the July lose 7lbs thread. All are welcome to join whether you are a regular, lurker, oldie, newbie, or a proper old timer like me 😂

All we ask for is the amazing support and positivity that I've seen in every single one of these threads so far. Last months thread is here June thread - lose 7lbs/3kg per month http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3925539-June-thread-lose-7lbs-3kg-per-month

Stats for me are:
Start weight (Dec 2018) 25 st 2lbs
Current weight: 17st 6lbs
Loss for June : 3lbs (boo 😳)
Total loss so far: 7st 10lbs

Would love to get into the 16s this month! I'm following WW green plan, I eat mainly plant based with a little dairy/cheese/gin thrown in. My aim this month is more plants and less gin 😂

Plan for today is OMAD - grapefruit segments to snack on throughout the morning and then a pea and mint risotto for dinner with side salad.

Have a fabulous 1st July everyone!

Oh my god they are adorable! What little angels.

cricketmum84 · 26/07/2020 15:06

@Shedtheload you might use a different word to describe them when they are racing around chasing each other at 4am 😂 it's like having 2 toddlers in the house again!

😍😍😍so adorable

Shedtheload · 26/07/2020 17:19

cricketmum84 you have my sympathies. My old cat used to do that and it drove me nuts!

MonicaBingaling · 26/07/2020 21:35

Oh dear.

I am definitely on the naughty step after today...

2700 calories!!!!!! Ooooops

I decided to increase my calories a little in the hope of breaking my plateau but I got a little carried away with the carbs! A pack of crisps led to piece of toast, crackers, cheeseburger, fries, and then 4 squares of Lindt chocolate ......

I feel so rubbish about myself but it was my first packet of crisps since April!! I have been so good for 3 months so a binge was bound to happen at some point.

I plan to get back on track tomorrow lol

recklessgran · 27/07/2020 08:26

Morning all. Sorry for being AWOL. Apart from the ongoing family drama that I seem to have been pulled in to I've been living it up on the naughty step with @NerrSnerr and @MonicaBingaling.
Today is my weigh day.
Last week 11st 12 lbs
Today 11st 12.5lbs.
Guess I need to be grateful for staying in the 11's under the circumstances. July is pretty much a write off for me. Need to get back in the zone. Stress is a big factor over here. Sigh. Pleased to see so many of you doing so well. I have lost a princely 0.25lb overall since the beginning of the month so I think I'll write off July and start again in August. I was at my goal of 11st 10lbs for 2 whole days! Need to fix that properly going forward - still got a four days to pull something out of the bag.

WhatALearningCurve · 27/07/2020 08:47

Had a whole thing written and my app crashed 🙄

2.5 loss this week to 10 stone 3.75. I am SO happy with that. And it means I've lost over 3 stone since my heaviest weight.

It means I'm now within the healthy BMI band and I'm 2 stone under what I used to be proud of. 12 st 4 was always the weight where I'd get to and feel like I'd achieved something and then fall off the wagon and pile it all back on again.

I'm definitely realising that calorie counting is the only way I can do this and that realistically I'll have to forever calorie count, at least for the majority of the week.

I think my goal is still between 9 and 9.7 so I've got a decent leeway to fluctuate.

Just dropped my son at nursery and now I'm going to go to the gym. I just wish my bank balance was reflective of how fabulous and Real Housewives Thai sounds on paper haha.

WhatALearningCurve · 27/07/2020 08:49

@recklessgran don't bear yourself up. It's a marathon not a sprint and you're wanting long term not something that's unrealistic for you to keep up. Slips are alright because you can learn from them and adjust behavior accordingly. If you were on it 100% every day then you're more likely to go "f it" and then binge one day

GetTheStartyParted · 27/07/2020 09:15

Morning all

@recklessgran sorry to hear your family troubles are ongoing and causing you stress. Don't give yourself a hard time, you've done so well.

@WhatALearningCurve well done! You have done great.

Weigh in day here too - 2lbs lost, thats 54lb total Smile

Today, its 6 months since I started keto, the longest I have ever stuck to a diet. Its my birthday on Sunday and we are going out for a meal, again I'm eating whatever I want so I'm hoping to lose 2lb by then so I have lost 4st total.

Today is very rainy, I'm going to do an online gym induction, my first step towards using the gym 🙈

cricketmum84 · 27/07/2020 09:52

Morning all, weather is miserable, rainy and grey today which always makes me crave comfort food and shun the salad!

Hope things resolve soon @recklessgran I can totally sympathise with family stress. I'm another one who is struggling in July, I'm not weighing until Friday now but I'm not expecting much of a loss for July which is very frustrating.

To make it even more frustrating I suggested to DH he had lost some weight when I hugged him yesterday, he's been out working in the garden digging and building every day. He got on the scales and he's lost an entire stone whilst still eating bread and chips!! Maybe I should go get a shovel out and join him 😂

54lbs! That's amazing @GetTheStartyParted Leto definitely works for you!

@WhatALearningCurve I'm tempted to go back to calorie counting, I'm tracking in ww less and less and not losing. I think I may try a couple of weeks of mfp from today. You are doing so well, fantastic loss so far!

@MonicaBingaling it's just one day out of 365 don't beat yourself up about it. Plus like you say back on track today :)

Plan for today is:
AM - lots of water - on my third pint now
Lunch - 2 pineapple sticks
Dinner - bbq jackfruit on little gem lettuce wraps with red onion, avocado and lime

Have a happy Monday everyone!

Morning all - sts today - sigh - must not let my critical brain tell me this is it and I can't do it and must not sabotage where I've got to so far.
Well done everyone - you've come so far and are all so positive - even with visits to the naughty step and major stresses
Going to cut back on carbs a bit more this week and I'd taken to saving a few calories for treats so I think the treats may have been more calories than I allowed for 😕
Might throw out the bag of lovely sticky dates.........

WhatALearningCurve · 27/07/2020 10:07

@cricketmum84 I couldn't recommend MFP enough. Due to my ARFID the foods I eat are so limited but MFP means I'm not forcing unsafe foods down.

Like yesterday I was suffering from the worst hangover I've had in a while (son was at his dads) and I had a protein shake for breakfast , pure comfort food of 2 potato waffles and bread for lunch and then a mound of roast potatoes for tea and some Malteasers after.

I'm aware on the face of it that sounds so unhealthy but my safe foods are basically all white carbs so at least with calorie counting I'm eating exactly what I want - just being mindful of portions. It doesn't even take up that much mind space now I've been doing for so long (started 20th April) it's just second nature to log it all

GetTheStartyParted · 27/07/2020 10:59

Thanks @Cricketmum84 Husbands are so annoying, mine loses weight super easy too!

I agree, logging everything is good. I use Carb Manager and put in everything that I eat. I usually log it beforehand so I know I'm having the right amount.

Shedtheload · 27/07/2020 11:34

Argh, men are so annoying the way that they lose weight easily and usually don’t have all the crappy emotional connections to food that us women do. They literally can eat less and move more. But well done to your DH.

whatalearningcurve wow that’s amazing. You have done so well. Enjoy the gym.

Monica let me know if eating more cals triggers some loss. I lost 0.1 kg this morning which is virtually nothing but at least the scales have moved in the right direction so fingers crossed.

recklessgran sorry to hear about family stress. It’s so hard but be kind to yourself and remember how fantastically well you have done so far.

GetTheStartyParted · 27/07/2020 13:04

I've just completed the gym induction and started a 6 week home exercise plan.

The first session showed me that I'm not gym ready, at all Grin I'm hoping that after this and if our pool reopens, then I will have improved my fitness enough to step into a gym. I have never done it before.

Does anyone have any tips? For the gym, home workout plan or anything please? I'm so clueless when it comes to exercise.

NerrSnerr · 27/07/2020 13:22

@recklessgran there is plenty of room for you over here. July has been written off here. I'm going away from Wednesday to Sunday to see family. Things are strained with the person I'm staying with but they've been living alone through the pandemic so I'll be painting on a smile and doing my duty. There'll be lots of chips to get me through. Planning on some walks with the children and will take them swimming so vaguely active.

In August I'm on it then. Our gym is open so I'm going back to classes and swimming. My ankles have disappeared and need to find them again.

riotlady · 27/07/2020 13:39

I had a massive lunch yesterday (Sunday dinner followed by apple crumble and ice cream... I did sub my roast potatoes for low cal root veg mash though so points for that?!) but followed it up by dragging everyone out for a long walk after. Weighed in this morning and lost 2.5lbs last week so doesn’t seem to have done too much harm!

Shedtheload · 28/07/2020 06:44

Well, there seems to be a slow shift in my plateau because I have now lost half a pound since last week, meaning I will have hit the 3 kg monthly goal (was 81.1kg on 30 June and am 78.1 today). August is the month I am determined to get down into the 11 stone category for the first time in a long while. Bring it on.

I also want to get to 15 kg total loss (am at 14.3 kg atm) because I have a 10kg kettlebell and a 5 kg dumbbell and if I put them together in a bag, it’s soooo heavy. The thought of all that having been on my body is staggering. No wonder I had a bad back and felt winded if I even walked up a flight of stairs!

I am going to incorporate more strength training in August to try to reduce my body fat and hopefully get it below 30. I am also quitting the gym. I have been paying my membership throughout lockdown because it’s a local one and I wanted to support them. They’re back open now though so I don’t feel too bad cancelling my membership. Lockdown has taught me that I don’t need a gym to get fit. I have kettlebells and some dumbbells plus a resistance band so I am going to do home strength workouts from Joe Wicks and Fitness Blender and see how I get on.

MonicaBingaling · 28/07/2020 08:46

That’s great news @Shedtheload well done glad to hear the plateau has shifted for you!

I haven’t dared weigh myself as the last 2 days I’ve eaten a LOT! To be fair though I’ve got a cold so I think my body needs the extra calories and I slept a lot yesterday!

Going to try my best to get back to it

Ecci · 28/07/2020 09:55

Escaped from the dreaded plateau, weight now going down again. I think drinking lots more water helped. I've lost 3.8 lbs so far this month, and 51 lbs in total. If I can lose 1lb more by Saturday morning, I will have achieved my goal of losing 52 lbs in a year. Fingers crossed! Of course, I'll then be setting a new goal...

WhatALearningCurve · 28/07/2020 10:14

@Ecci well done! That's a fantastic achievement! Slow and steady is definitely the way to make this long term and manageable

recklessgran · 28/07/2020 14:38

Wow @Ecci I've got everything crossed over here for you. Try drinking extra water. I'm sure you'll do it - that is an amazing milestone!

peanutbutterdog · 28/07/2020 16:20

Well done, Ecci - that's a fantastic achievement!

Onesmallstep67 · 28/07/2020 16:22

@Ecci, fantastic achievement. Star
Inspired by your target of lb a week I have just Googled the number of weeks until Christmas and it's 21 so if I can muster the commitment I think I am going to try for 21-22 lbs loss by the end of 2020. Here's hoping Confused

Ecci · 28/07/2020 17:00

@WhatALearningCurve @recklessgran @peanutbutterdog Thanks all, I hope I can do it. I just know that i'll feel like a failure if I don't get there.

@Onesmallstep67 Thanks, my new goal is going to be about 20 lbs. I hadn't thought of trying to do it by Christmas. We'll have to make sure we encourage each other. Last December I only lost 0.6 lbs!!! ( I love mince pies).
