Morning all! How is it July!

Welcome to the July lose 7lbs thread. All are welcome to join whether you are a regular, lurker, oldie, newbie, or a proper old timer like me 😂

All we ask for is the amazing support and positivity that I've seen in every single one of these threads so far. Last months thread is here June thread - lose 7lbs/3kg per month http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3925539-June-thread-lose-7lbs-3kg-per-month

Stats for me are:
Start weight (Dec 2018) 25 st 2lbs
Current weight: 17st 6lbs
Loss for June : 3lbs (boo 😳)
Total loss so far: 7st 10lbs

Would love to get into the 16s this month! I'm following WW green plan, I eat mainly plant based with a little dairy/cheese/gin thrown in. My aim this month is more plants and less gin 😂

Plan for today is OMAD - grapefruit segments to snack on throughout the morning and then a pea and mint risotto for dinner with side salad.

Have a fabulous 1st July everyone!

Hello Smile I’m new to this so hope it’s all right to join in.

Weighed myself on 24th June and found I was 79.5kg which is only just less than I weighed when I was 9 months pregnant Blush. And as the DC are 16 and 14 that’s not great. Have been putting weight on for a few years but that gave me the push to do something.

So have been counting calories, am doing couch to 5k and doing a lot more walking. Been weighing myself every Wednesday and last Wednesday I was 74.6kg.

Next weigh in tomorrow - am hoping I continue to lose something. My overall aim is 60kg but current goal is 70kg and will take it from there

@Shedtheload

Thank you

NoMoreJunk · 21/07/2020 16:08

@Shedtheload

I will keep checking it over the next few days and see if I'm getting the same numbers

@NoMoreJunk There is a way of working out what your maximum heart rate should be when you're exercising, it depends on your age. I can't remember how it's worked out but I'm sure Google can tell you. With regard to the low heart rate, I suspect it isn't anything to worry about. I'm an old girl, 66, with a heart condition. I walk with my dogs 2 to 3 miles each morning. I have a Garmin Vivoactive to monitor my heart rate, and I've found that after my walk, every day, once I sit down my heart rate drops to the high 30s for a brief time. I've asked my cardiologist about this and he's not worried, so I'm not either. If your heart is going fast when you're exercising, and you've got no chest pain, then it's fine and your heart will be getting stronger. I had a heart op in January and could only walk for a few steps the first week after it, now I can do a lot more. Just keep building up the exercise, it will make you feel so much better. Sorry I've woffled on a bit. Hope I've helped.

NoMoreJunk · 21/07/2020 21:41

@Ecci

Thank you, that helps alot :)

cricketmum84 · 22/07/2020 08:34

Morning all :) I'm staying off weighing until Saturday so not much update from me weight wise.

Feeling a bit worried this morning as I've had a message from GP that they need to discuss DD (15) kidney blood test results. Should be at some point this morning. Also found out yesterday my uncle has been diagnosed with MND.

Work is mega busy today so probably won't be around very much sorry.

Plan for today is:
B - lots of water, nectarine
L - small portion of leftover chickpea curry
D - shaksuka (must avoid crusty bread that I'm baking for the family to go with it)

Have a lovely day everyone and sorry for flying visit!!

@cricketmum84 good luck with the phone call, hope it’s nothing that can’t be fixed/ fix itself. I’ll be thinking of you. Does she have other health problems? Sorry to hear about your uncle too.

Howmanysleepsnow · 22/07/2020 08:59

Weighed in this morning at 10st 4.5lb so up 0.5lb, which is nothing really. My food intake will be all over the place today as I’m on a night shift but at least I’ll get about 8-10k of walking in overnight!

cricketmum84 · 22/07/2020 09:27

@Howmanysleepsnow she is potentially on autistic spectrum but we are still waiting for official assessment. It's been 18 months now. She has stress migraines but that's it. But has been complaining of lower back pain that radiates to each side so I was already a bit nervous when doctor suggested these tests Cos that was one of my first thoughts :(

I'll update when I can x

Morning all,

3rd day in a row at 10 st 6.25

That 1/4 of a lb is killing me!

I know I'm doing everything right so I need to trust the process and I'll have a drop at some point but it's driving me round the bend ha

TheStirrer · 22/07/2020 12:53

@Cricketmum84 Fingers crossed that it’s something easily sorted and sorry to hear about your uncle.
@WhatALearningCurve - fingers crossed that 0.25 lb goes soon. It will.
Well currently on holiday and visiting parents to help with care so diet a bit out of the window! Off for a Dorset cream tea later Blush

MoonNoodles · 22/07/2020 13:39

Hi all. Sorry I read all the posts but have had a rough week so havent been replying and now cant keep everything straight.

@recklessgran sounds like you had a lovely weekend.

@nomorejunk the top one isnt too bad but the lower one is a bit low. However if you feel okay and have no dizzyness/light headedness, chest pain or fainting than you are probably okay. You can talk to a gp if you want to though to be sure.

I can't remember who was discussin loose skin (sorry!) I think it depends largely on how much weight you lose and from where, etc. Skin is slightly elastic but not masively so. I think like lotion, staying hydrated, toning can help a bit. But for a bunch of loose skin only surgery will get rid of it. ObesetoBeast and JordanShrinks on youtube have videos about theirs.

Also my shoe size has gone down as well. Which is kind of cool.

I am not weighing in today as I am on that time of the month and usually it just goes up then. I dont want to add extra pressure when I am already crampy and stressed. I started a new 8 week diet and exercise plan so will see how that goes.

Ecci · 22/07/2020 20:54

I decided I weigh every day during July to see how it fluctuates, but I seem to be on a plateau. For the last 10 days I've been 12 st 5 lbs with a small variation between 5.4 and 5.8 lbs but I haven't been able to get any lower. I tried eating differently, more, less, none but no joy. Any suggestions?

Shedtheload · 23/07/2020 07:42

So annoyed with myself. I thought I had got my binge eating under control but last night I cracked and ate 6 low fat cheese slices and two thirds of a tub of Haagen Dazs ice cream. Felt really sick afterwards, mostly from annoyance with myself. I have calmed myself down though by reassuring myself that although I went over my calories by about 1500, that’s still not enough to gain a pound. Also, I have not been eating my exercise calories so had a bit of a ‘bank’ there so hopefully it won’t have done much damage. I am also telling myself that it’s not possible to live a totally perfect life and that everyone overeats sometimes. Also, in the past this would have triggered me to do even more damage like order a pizza or go to the shop for sweets. I didn’t do this- I ate the food and then watched some Tv and went to bed. This morning I am moving on and planning some more filling meals for my day (I felt absolutely shattered and weak all day yesterday before my binge so might have been my body calling out for more energy).

Might rethink my idea to weigh in tomorrow though and push it to Saturday!

recklessgran · 23/07/2020 11:05

@MoonNoodles and @Shedtheload sorry you've both been feeling wobbly. I have been feeling fragile too. A bit of a [wider] family upset has sent me off the rails completely and at least I now know without doubt that I am prone to emotional eating. I'm not sure what difference knowing that is going to make but perhaps it will make me be a bit more mindful of what I'm shoving in my mouth? Anyway I'm banning myself from eating bread today in the hope that I can pull something back. Still staying in the 11's so I'm happy with that for now.
Bacon and egg for lunch and DD4 is coming for a flying visit just for dinner - I'm waiting for her to advise me on what she fancies. I have a bottle of fizz by way of a little celebration on securing the plastics job [I guess it will be good for her suturing particularly as her future lies in trauma.] Anyway, will make the most of her visit.

Shedtheload · 23/07/2020 12:02

Thank you recklessgran. I hope you enjoy the visit from your DD. It sounds like she’s doing so well - clever girl.

Howmanysleepsnow · 23/07/2020 12:16

Just did my “morning” weigh in having had a couple of hours sleep after my night shift and I’m back down to 10st 4lb. That’s 4lb off so far this month and 6 to go until my target weight.

JessJonesJumps · 23/07/2020 14:46

@Cricketmum84 I hope your DD is ok.
@recklessgran sending strength and good wishes to help with your family upset ... although the bottle of fizz with DD may help too Wine
I'm still avoiding the scales. I haven't managed any yoga for the last few days because this TOTM has zapped all my energy for some reason.
We're in the middle of changing DS' playroom to a gaming room, and re-arranging our bedroom, and have some new bits and pieces for the hall and the garden. I also have tonnes of work to complete by the end of the month. Everything feels in a state of flux atm and I'm feeling bad about DS having such an electronics-dependent summer (although he is loving it because he can chat to all his friends online).

GetTheStartyParted · 23/07/2020 18:39

@Cricketmum84 hope your DD is OK, and that you're doing alright

@recklessgran enjoy your catch up with DD4 and be kind to yourself. The odd day of emotional eating, when you find yourself in that place, does not undo your progress. I hope you are OK.

@JessJonesJumps it sounds like you are very busy!

@Shedtheload moving on and trying again is all we can do when we slip up, hope you have forgiven yourself!

@MoonNoodles good luck with your new plan, what will you be doing?

@Ecci more water and persevere? If you are doing all the right things, it will eventually happen

Well, I have had a busy week but finished work until Tuesday now (the best past of working part time while I do my degree - summer holiday Grin ) I really wanted a takeaway tonight but made myself cook so sausages with roasted broccoli it was, delicious. Might have a couple of sugar free sweets and a kopparberg seltzer in a while.

Dd is visiting on Saturday morning and DS2 wants to make a chocolate fondue platter for her, i think i will make myself some keto brownies so I'm not tempted to join in!

KOKO everyone

dobbyssoc · 23/07/2020 22:20

Weigh in day today. Still no change which is frustrating but not unexpected!
Back on the wagon now and aiming to loose at least 1.5lbs this week!!

cricketmum84 · 23/07/2020 22:45

Sorry guys it's been a mega busy day. I'm actually still working (15 hours and counting) so I need to be quicker I'll update properly tomorrow.

Doctor has phoned again today and said another result has come back high so they have called her back in at 9am tomorrow for further bloods. Really really trying to keep my shit together right now.

OP posts:
JessJonesJumps · 23/07/2020 23:36

@cricketmum84 Flowers look after yourself and if you need a little cry or rant, take the time for them. It's so stressful when DCs are ill and when you have to get through a night between blood tests, appointments. Sending lots of love and good health wishes to cricketDD.

cricketmum84 · 24/07/2020 00:35

Thankyou @JessJonesJumps I'm gonna attempt some sleep now.

It's her haemaglobin and then CRP that's high so basically too many red blood cells but also some markers of inflammation. Dr Google obviously says cancer. Like it would because it likes to panic you. I feel a bit like I'm wading through treacle. I just wish someone could tell me what they are testing for and what their suspicions are.

OP posts:
Onesmallstep67 · 24/07/2020 10:17

@cricketmum84, sending my best wishes. Times when our DC are unwell or troubled are by far the most worrying. I hope you get some reassurance and further information today Flowers

I have been reading along but not posting as my weight is STS. I haven't been trying to lose weight but have instead been mindful of my food choices. I know that I am a little distracted by other things in my life at the moment and for me to be properly successful with dieting it has to be my main focus, almost full concentration.
Well done to those who are keeping on keeping on Star
