Morning all! How is it July!

Welcome to the July lose 7lbs thread. All are welcome to join whether you are a regular, lurker, oldie, newbie, or a proper old timer like me 😂

All we ask for is the amazing support and positivity that I've seen in every single one of these threads so far. Last months thread is here June thread - lose 7lbs/3kg per month http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3925539-June-thread-lose-7lbs-3kg-per-month

Stats for me are:
Start weight (Dec 2018) 25 st 2lbs
Current weight: 17st 6lbs
Loss for June : 3lbs (boo 😳)
Total loss so far: 7st 10lbs

Would love to get into the 16s this month! I'm following WW green plan, I eat mainly plant based with a little dairy/cheese/gin thrown in. My aim this month is more plants and less gin 😂

Plan for today is OMAD - grapefruit segments to snack on throughout the morning and then a pea and mint risotto for dinner with side salad.

Have a fabulous 1st July everyone!

punctuation never my strong point in the morning Grin

Bella444 · 21/07/2020 07:23

@recklessgran I love cauliflower cheese, what's the difference with a Keto one?

Howmanysleepsnow · 21/07/2020 08:05

@Bella444 well done! That must feel amazing!

recklessgran · 21/07/2020 08:39

@Bella444 well done and welcome to the 11's. It's a great feeling to get through the stone barrier. I'm hanging around on 11st 12lbs currently. Hoping to get rid of another 4lbs and then I'm done. Just need @JessJonesJumps and NerrSnerr [if we can get her back from the gym] to make up the party!
Mmm Keto cauli cheese. Made with double cream instead of milk and minus the crushed bag of cheese and onion crisps that I used to sprinkle over the top! I actually did cauliflower and broccoli in the end. Was delicious but quite rich on account of the cream and extra mature cheddar.
Need to eat eggs here today. Got a lot of them to use up so think it might be ham and egg salad especially since the sun is shining.

Bella444 · 21/07/2020 08:46

I'm hungry now @recklessgran

recklessgran · 21/07/2020 08:49

@Bella444 want some eggs?

Bella444 · 21/07/2020 09:07

lol I just batch cooked a load of mini omelettes for the freezer so no thanks!

cricketmum84 · 21/07/2020 09:08

@recklessgran that cauli and broccoli cheese sounds AMAZING. Could happily eat that right now!
You are all giving me such a boost this week to really push into that next stone barrier. I can't even remember the last time I was in the 16s. It's been a long time though!

Does anyone else who has lost quite a bit have any personal recommendations for how to firm up skin? Obviously my skin isn't looking great at the moment and I have some saggy looking skin on the inside of my thighs, upper arms and lower stomach. But can't keep buying random expensive creams that don't actually work.

Plan for today is:
B - small bowl of grapes
L - baked parsnip crisps. Might attempt some sort of vegan ranch style dip with soya yoghurt if I have time.
D - chickpea and red pepper madras with greens instead of rice

Have a great day everyone!

@recklessgran I have had cauliflower and broccoli cheese with my last two dinners Grin so delicious!

@Cricketmum84 I would love to know the answer to this, I hate my skin, my stomach looks like a deflated balloon Sad I do neglect myself though, I have no skincare routine whatsoever. Your meals tiday sound lovely.

Well done @Bella444 and welcome to the 11's!

recklessgran · 21/07/2020 09:26

@Cricketmum84 I thought it was just me - I now have "old lady" flappy inner thighs. Suspect the answer is hard core exercise to develop muscle but that won't be happening here - too lazy! DH says I look great so that's all that actually matters.I should have started work an hour ago so I'd better get off here and crack on will catch up with you all later.

WhatALearningCurve · 21/07/2020 10:12

@GetTheStartyParted @recklessgran @cricketmum84 mines the top of my arms. I've always hated my arms anyway and now the top of them is pure bingo wing old lady skin.

I think the gym / work outs are the only option (other than surgery ha)

I'm 32 so refusing to believe that's just my skin now, there has to be a way back!

My stomachs also like a deflated balloon - I got really aggressive stretch marks over night when I was pregnant - combined with the fact I measured full term at 6 months - my stomachs a mess ha

cricketmum84 · 21/07/2020 10:15

@WhatALearningCurve I've always had really good skin, I'm 36 so also refusing to believe this is it forever! 2 pregnancies and I didn't get one stretch mark in either.

The skin now is really crepey and a bit wrinkly. It's alright being thinner but there is absolutely no way I would be comfortable on holiday in a swimsuit with the skin on my thighs right now. I think I would rather be plump 😂

Wonder if I should go back to bio oil??

I have read that skin takes a while to bounce back so what it looks like when you hit goal is not what it’s going to look like forever. I don’t think there’s much you can do beyond moisturising and making sure to do toning exercises.

I have seen lots of people on Instagram who have embraced their loose skin after weight loss. It shows how far you have come and what you have been through. I have a small amount at the top of my arms at the moment. Am also in my thirties so hoping my skin still has some bounce in it. But if it doesn’t go, I am not going to stress too much about it I have decided.

GetTheStartyParted · 21/07/2020 10:56

I'm 34, and pray that this isn't it forever, I fear mine is though. I have had 2 pregnancies too, and neither were very kind to my body Grin

My arms and legs were starting to tone a little when I was swimming, I need my pool to reopen. They still haven't announced when they will. They are opening the gym next week but I havent even done the induction, I was avoiding it Blush bio oil is a good shout.

Shedtheload · 21/07/2020 10:56

If you didn’t get any stretch marks in pregnancy, that’s a very promising sign! Suggests that you have resilient skin.

GetTheStartyParted · 21/07/2020 10:58

I agree @Shedtheload we will have to embrace it as part of the weightloss journey but any improvement will be welcomed Smile

EmmaSussex · 21/07/2020 11:39

Hello
Not a great first week, first weigh in yesterday and only lost 2lb... Was hoping for a bit more as had eaten no biscuits at all!

Shall persevere, now 14st 5, hopefully will get closer to 14 next week
I love your dress @cricketmum84 beautiful x

Shedtheload · 21/07/2020 11:51

Emma that’s great! I think it’s a myth that everyone loses loads in the first week. For many it’s true but not for everyone. I lost only a pound in my first week and felt really downhearted about it. However, since then I have lost 2 pounds most weeks and it’s been really steady and consistent. Also, I was your exact starting weight (14 st 7) back at the end of March. I’ve lost 32 pounds since then so keep going and you will see great results.

EmmaSussex · 21/07/2020 12:37

@Shedtheload thank you for the reply, that’s really encouraging, 32lbs is such an amazing loss!
When I was younger it was much easier to lose weight quickly, now I’m 42 it seems it’s going to be much slower but have been putting it off for too long...

dobbyssoc · 21/07/2020 12:52

May I come crawling back to the thread. I lurked commented a couple of times then lost momentum I really need some support/motivation before I undo all my work!
My goal is 4 stone to loose (I'll still be overweight but it's a good start for me!)
I've lost 1st 5lbs since may but this has slowed dramatically for the last 3 weeks.
Could I have a major kick up the arse please!

Bella444 · 21/07/2020 13:09

@EmmaSussex 2lbs is a great first week loss! You're doing brilliant Smile

Bella444 · 21/07/2020 13:11

@dobbyssoc consider your butt kicked!

I also lose momentum when I don't see the scales moving but am desperately trying to see it as part of the journey! Keep going, you've done so well so far.

NoMoreJunk · 21/07/2020 13:12

Question for you all if possible please.

So... Im big, 113kg and very unfit.
Iv been doing a dvd for 40 minutes a day for 3 weeks and eating healthier, no snacks etc and have lost 8 lbs.

But today i recordered my heart rate and oxygen during the dvd.

At one point my heart rate was 155 i could feel my heart going fast but didnt feel ill or anything, but i did stop.
Afew minutes later it dropped to under 50 beats per minute and my oxygen went down to 80, i immediately stopped doing what i was doing and both numbers returned to normal in under a minute..

Again i felt ok and wasn't working to hard, i was laying on the floor, and doing abdomal curls

Stupid question, but is this normal? Dangerous?

The dvd is Michelle Mcmann and is a very good dvd, i only do the first 4 sections, because by that time, im sweating and had enough, im hoping in afew more weeks / a month , i can build up to a longer time as i 'get abit fitter'

dobbyssoc · 21/07/2020 13:17

@Bella444 thank you.
Time to get back to no snacks!

Shedtheload · 21/07/2020 14:50

NoMoreJunk no, that’s not normal with the low heart rate. The higher number seems plausible if you are exerting yourself but the lower one doesn’t. How did you measure this? Could it be that the monitor you are using is faulty? I think that if you feel okay doing workout videos, your heart rate isn’t super-important as any form of exercise is likely to be beneficial. I also wouldn’t expect a video like that to involve exercise that would be dangerous to the person doing it, even if that person is overweight. If you’re worried about it, you can always go to your GP.
