Hi, here is a new thread, Excuse the ultra unoriginal title. Weighed in at 9st0.5, this morning, aim (as it has been for every month since March) is to get under 9st. Cannot believe we are in the second half of this year.

Sorry - that all sounded way more ranty than I intended! Grin
I hope that everyone is having a good start to the week - not long until the end of the month now!

MonsteraCheeseplant · 27/07/2020 15:09

I'm no authority on anything much Grin
I did hear that your body spends more energy processing protein so you burn more calories just through digestion than any other food group.

TheHoneyBadger · 27/07/2020 17:13

Fibre takes work to try and digest too. I think it’s the high gi refined carbs.

Carbs are the building blocks for serotonin though. I remember back when Atkins was the big thing stories coming out about it causing or causing a relapse into depression.

I’m home from holiday now. Way too much eating and drinking but I did do things like not going out for brunch with everyone else (the day after a Chinese takeaway) and not going out to eat yet more on the last night and was pretty active. Still eaten way more than usual though and not looking forward to seeing the scales in the morning.

Congrats on loss honey and I hope everyone who had a wkd off enjoyed it

Heygirlheyboy · 27/07/2020 17:24

Why not give yourself a day or two TheHoneyBadger? I'm considering going back to my strict once a week only weigh in. All logged for today 1244 which is ideal. Dying for my lovely roast dinner now. Anyone else surprised at the cals in wholemeal wraps? 199. I thought they were seen as particularly healthy when they came out first.. No odds it was a lovely lunch but between that and the all important cheese it was high in cals for a Toastie!

HoneysuckIejasmine · 27/07/2020 17:45

Yeah wraps surprised me. One of the supermarkets does some free from ones which are lower calorie but having been an allergy mum, I haven't bought them lately in case someone with no choice needs some.

I buy Asda ones now that are in long life packaging and are smaller - 120 cals instead of 180 odd.

MonsteraCheeseplant · 27/07/2020 18:48

Yeah wraps look like they should be way less than they are. As honeysuckle says, the free from range are about 60 or 80 cals i think.

everycowandagain · 28/07/2020 07:54

Morning all. Nodding along in agreement about the carb related conversation below. I can't go very low carb, it makes me wobbly and cross!

I have been tracking calories on MFP like my life depends on it and sticking to a slightly lower calorie allowance, and it's giving me results. It's hard though! I started the month at 133.6lbs and today I am 129.4 which I am really pleased with. Pre holiday weigh in with my PT is tomorrow for my official result. Holiday was supposed to be starting Thursday am but after some very last minute rearranging we are off on Saturday so I have a few more days to stay on track.

Am going to keep logging EVERYTHING! Have a good day all.

Octopus37 · 28/07/2020 08:35

9st1.75 this morning, feeling a bit bloated for whatever reason. Need to drop another 1.25 pounds, so at least I dont end the month heavier than at the start.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 28/07/2020 09:12

Morning. Have a lovely holiday every, and hope the bloat goes quickly octopus

Today...
B ham omelette
L yellow split pea daal (need to make it, they've been soaking overnight)
D fish and chips (oven cooked)

Lovely walk last night - 6km. I need to do another 21km by end of the month.

Heygirlheyboy · 28/07/2020 10:00

Good idea to count kms per month, what is your target?

I'm back to yesterday's targets of 2.5L water, 12 K steps and no junk. Worked well yesterday. I'm at 9,7.75 this morning. Like you octopus feeling a bit bloated.

MonsteraCheeseplant · 28/07/2020 10:13

Good work everycow, that's great progress!

HoneysuckIejasmine · 28/07/2020 12:33

I do 100 miles so 160km. I do it with Race At Your Pace so I can have a medal every month. It's £10 so obviously I'm just buying a medal but it's great motivation and lovely to see them a lined up. You can set your own distance target.

TheHoneyBadger · 28/07/2020 12:39

Morning.

I’ve gained 2lbs over the long weekend away however if my scales are to be believed 0.4lbs of that is muscle 💪🏼

Puts me at 4lbs above my lowest weight this month and 2lbs below my lowest. Going to try and end the month with a good fast and very careful days. Hoping that 2lbs can go off as fast as it came on.

I like to weigh most days honey because then I see the trends and am becoming ok with fluctuations which can be huge with me. If I weighed once a week and it happened to be the day I had a weird upswing it would feel like I’d messed up the whole week or like it wasn’t working itms? This way I know it’s just a water retaining day or whatever random factor.

everycowandagain · 28/07/2020 14:54

Thanks @MonsteraCheeseplant it really helped to chat about what wasn't working a few weeks ago so thank you for your support.

I am also a daily weigher, the daily ups and downs don't stress me because I watch the longer term trend and I can feel if I am leaner or not. I would find it frustrating to weigh weekly and it be thrown out by a fluctuation unrelated to body fat. But I think everyone should do what works for them!!

TheHoneyBadger · 28/07/2020 15:02

My job for today is to drink lots of water and herbal tea, to make sure I’m getting up and moving about regularly and not eat.

I find fasting is harder, and generally more effective, after a period of eating higher calories and having more junky food and it’s better to just keep up regular moving rather than try for proper exercise and get too hungry.

Hope everyone gets I only speak for myself and my own experience-I think we all have to find what works for us with trial and error and realisation it may also change eg when I’ve lost a fair bit of this fat I may switch to trying to gain muscle to boost my bmr. I do find posting about it helps me though and sorry if I bore anyone Grin

MonsteraCheeseplant · 28/07/2020 15:46

It's great that we can help each other. I find it really helps me to blather on, on here, just to keep my mindset on the target and not let it fall by the wayside.

B: Yoghurt, toast and honey
L: Lamb soup
D: Prawn tacos
S: A brownie, a multipack twirl

Heygirlheyboy · 28/07/2020 15:52

Me too Monster :)

B: berries and Greek yoghurt
L: omelette with peppers, red onion, cheese and salad
D: sausages, beans and minimal mash ;)

HoneysuckIejasmine · 28/07/2020 16:14

Oooh prawn tacos. Sounds nice.

I did weigh again this morning and I'm up a lb on yesterday. Tbh so much of it depends what I did the night before etc that there's no point taking it too seriously, but yes, it avoids a random fluctuation destroying your whole weeks effort, afayk.

Heygirlheyboy · 28/07/2020 18:20

I added two panna cottas to my list, not good, all logged now, brings me to 1343.

TheHoneyBadger · 28/07/2020 18:38

I’m in awe of the calorie counters and their consistency on here. It’s most probably the most guaranteed way of losing weight and seeing relatively predictable results.

I can’t do it though or not very long term at least and for me fasting and a level of moderation and carefulness on the days I’m not fasting with the odd fuck it factor is the best solution for now.

I like that people have different approaches on here. It avoids it getting religious iykwim. I’m not good with zealots Grin I was brought up in Catholicism which was more than enough dogma for one lifetime lol

Hangoverstruggles · 28/07/2020 21:54

I love this group! So lovely & supportive. Agree Badger - love that everyone is doing their own thing! I couldn't do your fasts at all - so impressive!

I braved the scales this morning after weekend away! 10st 1.75. Not as bad as I was expecting to be honest! I really want to end the month at 10st so hoping some of it is water / period fluctuation.

@MonsteraCheeseplant I admire your consistency. You are so focused!

@Heygirlheyboy good skills getting two Panacottas in on those cals!

B coffee, banana, shortbread biscuit
L jacket potato, beans, 2 chicken skewers
D Really lovely - chicken, couscous, broad beans & edamame beans, spinach and spring onion all mixed up in a wok with chilli, soy sauce and lime juice.
S 3 big squares of dark chocolate

Came in at 1400. Plus did a 30 HIIT class.

Heygirlheyboy · 28/07/2020 22:00

I didn't mean to hangover Blush They were served up and my will power is obviously dreadful. Two were 400 cals..

Heygirlheyboy · 28/07/2020 22:01

PS your dinner sounds fab!

HoneysuckIejasmine · 28/07/2020 22:37

@Heygirlheyboy

PS your dinner sounds fab!
I love getting dinner ideas on here 😁

Split pea daal was yum, looking forward to having that again tomorrow.

Not sure what we're having tomorrow - messed up the timings of my meal plan and food shop so had to move things around until the shop comes tomorrow evening. Stupid!

TheHoneyBadger · 29/07/2020 07:42

Miracle scales. Weighed on Weds and I was 200lbs which was totally on trend. On Thursday I’d swung up 2lbs which made me think right I’m not getting on them again till after hol. That was yesterday when it had shot up another 2lbs. Today after a fast and about 5 by yesterday I’m back to the 200lbs I was at this time last week.

My fluctuations are huge and I seem to sometimes be weighing the food that’s inside me when I’ve eaten more than usual and my digestive system can’t keep up.

Anyway will see what tomorrow and the next day bring for months close Confused

I fasted till gone midnight but couldn’t sleep so ate the soaked oats I’d made for this morning.

Have a good day everyone
