I’ve been trying very hard to keep my calorie intake down and walk as much as possible. Seven miles yesterday, and I’m walking with friends today. I bought new trainers after my hip op, and they have motivated me because they’re so comfortable. With that in mind, I’ve just ordered new waterproof walking boots and also a poncho for riding my bike. It’s a good job I don’t care about looking cool Grin.

I checked my 1000 miles record sheet - I’ve walked 374 miles since March! 😃

sevendevils · 01/07/2020 11:35

@Imissmoominmama sounds like you are doing really well and motivated.

I've started walking my dogs loads, and was thinking about getting walking boots. I live rurally so get muddy and wet. Which walking boots did you get if you don't mind me asking?

Imissmoominmama · 01/07/2020 11:47

@sevendevils- I’ve bought Keen ones because historically they’re the only walking boots/sandals which don’t hurt my wonky feet. I have a pair of Dubarrys that I used to walk the dogs in, but even they hurt. I’ve gone for a waterproof trainer type ankle boot. They haven’t arrived yet🤞.

My poncho has though and I love it! Gutted the rain has stopped- I wanted to go for a bike ride with it on Grin.

sevendevils · 01/07/2020 11:56

@Imissmoominmama thanks for that. I was looking at Dubarrys earlier online. I decided that if I'm going to take walking seriously, I need proper boots that are waterproof. I can't wait for it to get wet and cold so I can get the Barbour out and new walking boots. My riding boots leak and I got wet feet yesterday.

Imissmoominmama · 01/07/2020 11:58

I’m sure less wonky feet will be absolutely fine in Dubarrys. To be fair, mine are less wonky since my hip op, but I’m still playing safe!

sevendevils · 01/07/2020 12:01

@Imissmoominmama my feet are ok but I've got a dodgy knee so I want decent boots with good support.

KarrieKay · 01/07/2020 13:06

@sevendevils that made me laugh - I have a Barbour but no dog and every dog we meet runs up to me as if I may have a tennis ball or treats in those massive pockets. Just need to persuade DH on getting a dog now...

sevendevils · 01/07/2020 13:56

@KarrieKay the pockets on my Barbour are quite small as it's a fitted one for riding but yes, the hunting, shooting, fishing barbours have giant pockets, perfect for a slice of cake and a couple of large bars of chocolate to eat on your travels.

sevendevils · 01/07/2020 13:57

Also pretty confident that it wouldn't do up over my gut now 🤣

Heartbreaker83 · 01/07/2020 14:25

Hi all, just checking in! Will defo join in Saturday weigh in. Hoping for a couple lbs loss. I’ve been Monday 16:8 since Sunday it’s been hard all I want to do is graze on biscuits all day! Been drinking shit loads of fruit tea and water which is taking me to the loo every 5mins!

Dh had a MacDonald’s today I used all my willpower to resist! I had 2 chips and savoured every bit ha ha

Lyricallie · 01/07/2020 16:09

Oh I've been using huel for about a year. My biggest recommendation for it is ice cubes! And keep it in the fridge. Also I blend mine up in the nutribullet otherwise I feel it's too grainy.

Lyricallie · 01/07/2020 16:14

@Jannyapple66 IF is going pretty good, mine is more "alternative day fasting" except I do 2 days fasting 5 days on my normal kcal.

It's not too bad I think it's mainly mental as if I distract myself the feeling passes. I basically decided to try it because I realised when I was driving home from work I was always starving. I could have a 5 course meal but I would be so hungry or I could have a 200kcal huel all day and still be starving. It didn't seem to matter how much I ate. Which made me realise it was probably mental. I'm pretty chunky so I'm not going to waste away from one day without food. Also it has lots of added benefits with cell regeneration and such (I'm still attempting to read and learn about it but it's tricky to know what is valid). However Dr Fung seems to be the main doctor promoting IF for people with conditions like diabetes due to weight in USA.

My weight is going down it is definitely up and down because the fasting and eating but it's all tracking down generally.

Jannyapple66 · 01/07/2020 17:20

Hi all ... well look at us shorties go !
I only went to work and when I come back we've got fantastic losses , predicted losses , nuts , wonky knees , aching abs and I even saw a McDonalds ! And do I gather @sevendevils that you are a horsey girl ?
I'd love one of those Barbour jackets and some nice Hunter boots
The last jacket I bought was almost a full length quilted pale grey zip up - my son told me I looked like a sausage roll ...

Jannyapple66 · 01/07/2020 17:27

@Lyricallie I think I'd prefer that to the extended hours version .. do you monitor and restrict on your 5 days or just have what you fancy .. and on your 2 days how many calories to you have
Sorry to be a pain ... I have googled all this but get so many variations

Polkadotpjs · 01/07/2020 18:41

Sounds like we are all on it. Lots of positive chat. My scales are broken so no clue of weight today but I've eaten only blueberry Skyr all morning then hubby presented me with a massive salad ....and pizza lunch. Gah!!! Starving again now but made a big pan of veggie chilli so that's tea sorted (northerner here!) got after Zoom yoga

Feckmesideways · 01/07/2020 19:17

@Lyricallie Thanks for the huel tip, I’ll give that a go tomorrow.

Today I’ve had 2 coffees with milk, 200 calories of huel, grilled chicken and a pink lady. I don’t know why, but I’m just not that hungry. It could be because my stomach is aching after doing that ab workout!

Dulcedelecherocks · 01/07/2020 19:55

What is huel?

Hiya no happy to share tips I've picked up lol.

I've actually got a lot of my information from Reddit on r/fasting. But I have no calories on my 2 days (well less than 5 on black coffee) I know some people do traditional 5:2 where they do 500 kcal on their fasting days.

I don't restrict really I have my alloted kcal from lose it so for me it's just over 1300 but if I want something extra like a chocolate bar or some cheese and crackers I just have it. I look at it as more a weekly allotment of kcal rather than daily and only weigh myself weekly.

Huel is a meal replacement shake but not a weight loss one specifically. More people do it to save time and get all their nutrients. However it's really filling per kcal so it's good for keeping you full. It kinda tastes of slightly sweet nothing lol at least the chocolate and vanilla ones.

For me today it's been a good day. Cooked off a whole broccoli and seasoned with sriracha, garlic, ginger and sesame oil and it's 200 kcal for the whole thing so going to snack on this for the next two days. Definitely kept me from the cheese!

13 kcal under today lol. And I had a gin so I'm happy!

sevendevils · 02/07/2020 07:40

Morning everyone, just checking in.

I hope that we all have a good day today.

Well done on not caving in @Heartbreaker83

I had some bananas to use up this week so made a banana loaf, I have treated myself to one small slice. Normally I would've scoffed the lot! We are strong women. We can do this!

MoonBaby1 · 02/07/2020 07:47

Morning Smile. I’m alright today. Cutting out booze and snacks in the evening has made me hungry in the morning.

Had a gorgeous noodle broth with squid last night.

Morning :) Did week 2 run 1 of couch to 5k before 7 this morning. Was raining which usually I wouldn't like but felt quite liberating.

Am now at my desk with some yoghurt and fruit. No sweets for me :(

littleninja · 02/07/2020 08:04

@feckmesideways how are the workouts going?
I did a legs and bum toning workout and an abs one back to back this morning but it was only about 20 mins in total. I like them because they are short so they are easy to squeeze in to your day. My legs are going to feel the squats tomorrow!

I was under my calories yesterday and did a run so still doing well. Weekend will be the hardest part I think.

Does anyone have any good low calorie recipes to share? I've done ok this week but I'm sure I'll get bored of chicken and veg every day within another week or so...

Keep going everyone - not long until weigh day

MirandaWest · 02/07/2020 09:29

@littleninja which workouts are you doing? Feel I need to do some abs and legs and bum toning and 20 minutes in total sounds good Grin

Normandy144 · 02/07/2020 10:00

So far so good! Day 4 today and definitely feel less fat. I'm managing to stick to the 1200 cals and just logging it on MFP. Went for a cycle last night for 40 minutes and will attempt another round of the Kayla Itsines Women's Health workouts on you tube. I've done 2 or 3 now and they are short and sweet! Breakfast today was smashed avocado on wholemeal toast with a poached egg and tomato, under 300 cals. Tonight I'm making a smoked mackerel salad from the Hensley book.
