I don’t even recognise myself

In the past year (since getting married) I’ve gained about 3 stone.
I know exactly why, we went from being quite active to sitting in front of the TV most evenings and weekends, eating shit (chocolate etc).

We went out to a friends post wedding garden party this weekend (Social distanced) and when I looked at photos on Facebook I was MORTIFIED.

I know I’ve gained weight, but how did I not know I looked like that??
I didn’t even recognise myself!

So, today is Day 1 of ‘Bookaholic Gets Buff’ and I’m looking for support, advice, fellow ‘Buffers’ who would like to join in etc

I am quite active, although you wouldn’t believe it by looking at me. So it’s mainly diet I need to improve.

I’m 13st and a size 18 Blush
I’m aiming for 10st.

Whoops sorry, getting mixed up!

Good work on the weight loss @Coldhandscoldheart you can’t be as out of control as you think you are!

@SierraOscar I’ve never bothered with shakes as they are actually fairly high cal as intended to be meal replacements and I’d rather eat my cals. How about making a big pot of chunky veg soup and having that whoever you feel hungry?

SierraOscar · 26/08/2020 10:31

That's a good idea @notevenamum1. I do love a nice chunky homemade soup. I'll be needing them from next week onwards when real life resumes. I find it hard to be good when looking after DD.

Allaboutthatbass · 26/08/2020 11:08

I know I’m late to this party, but can I please join? 45, mum of 3 girls, core shot to bits by having twins (though they are now nearly 7 Blush), 5 foot 6, was 86kg a couple of weeks ago, now 83.4. Aiming for 65kg and review, via a combo of IF 18:6/16:8 at weekends, and slimming world principles in my eating window, but lower carb in the evenings and no processed rubbish.
It’s going to be a long haul though.

SierraOscar · 26/08/2020 12:10

Welcome @Allaboutthatbass - it sounds like you are doing really well so far.

Allaboutthatbass · 26/08/2020 12:34

Thanks @SierraOscar!

notevenamum1 · 26/08/2020 13:16

Welcome @Allaboutthatbass the more the merrier!

I had an omelette with sundried tomatoes, olives, feta, spinach and mushrooms for lunch. I am also doing 16:8! Going to go for a quick walk now even though I have too much work to do Shock least it’s not raining for once!

Dinner tonight is fish, mashed potato and veg. Total kcals without snacks are just over 1,000 so will be having something else but unsure what

Coldhandscoldheart · 26/08/2020 21:05

Hi @Allaboutthatbass.
I’ve gone to bed and cleaned my teeth cos otherwise I’m clearing the kitchen. More than I already have after a reasonably sized tea. I’m not sure what I’m lacking but a bit of a salt craving, perhaps premenstrual.

I checked back to te start of the thread there, and I was 82 kg,so I have actually lost 2kilos very slowly, but I think they will stay off. I didn’t think I’d lost anything.

@SierraOscar sniffing vanilla is sometimes supposed to help, with sweet thing cravings. I know what you mean about being at home, I find it much harder than when I’m at work To keep control of my food.
All I can suggest is keep as occupied as possible.

Allaboutthatbass · 26/08/2020 21:16

Definitely easier not to snack when you are working! We are quarantining at the moment so fridge is there all the time! On the plus side, plenty of time for cooking from scratch.

SierraOscar · 26/08/2020 23:16

What do you all eat for a low carb lunch?

I've decided to cut down on carbs as I know that reduces sugar cravings. I will try sniffing some vanilla, I think there might be something in that as when I worked at a chocolate factory I stopped wanting to eat it as much, especially when it was raining!

notevenamum1 · 27/08/2020 12:44

@SierraOscar I just had an omelette for lunch but I had it on a wrap. I don’t have breakfast so I am ravenous for my first meal and I need it!! I know keto/low carb works miracles but I’ve done it before and it really really wasn’t for me.

notevenamum1 · 27/08/2020 12:45

How did you get on today @Allaboutthatbass ?

notevenamum1 · 27/08/2020 12:46

These threads really keep me going so I’m going to be a pest and keep posting Grin I have been really strict all week but looking forward to very slightly loosening the reigns at the weekend. I used to have chocolate every single day as an absolute necessity but now I just have a treat on Saturday or Sunday and I spend all week thinking about it!

Coldhandscoldheart · 28/08/2020 06:46

I loosened the reins a bit last night Blush pringles were involved.
I tried starting Gillian Michaels 30 day shred the other night. I phoned it in.
But I might give it another go tonight since I don’t have time to run.

notevenamum1 · 28/08/2020 12:21

@Coldhandscoldheart Pringles are like crack cocaine. If you didn’t finish the whole tube I’m very impressed!!

I am so ready for the weekend. Absolutely exhausting week at work. Hoping to stick to being good but we shall see.

Coldhandscoldheart · 29/08/2020 08:45

They are aren’t they?! Was helped by DH who not so helpfully kept putting the tub next to me.

Bookaholic73 · 29/08/2020 08:49

Morning All. Sorry I’ve been quiet, work has been manic.
I’ve lost half a stone so far. So still on track. I could try harder though, so that’s my plan.

I found you all again. This thread disappeared on me! 🤷‍♀️

I've decided to be good until my birthday which is two weeks away. I'm going to have an afternoon tea and I shall look forward it whilst being good until then.

Coldhandscoldheart · 31/08/2020 10:57

79.8 today. And a stinking cold.

SierraOscar · 31/08/2020 20:39

I hope you feel better soon @Coldhandscoldheart

Coldhandscoldheart · 01/09/2020 05:34

So do I ! My run schedule is all out!

Bookaholic73 · 01/09/2020 07:41

Morning All.
It’s the 1st September, so a new month. I know it’s a cliche, but I love setting monthly goals.

I’m aiming for an 8lb loss In September. Anyone want to join in with making a monthly goal?

OP posts:
SierraOscar · 01/09/2020 09:44

I'll join you @Bookaholic73 I would like to aim for a stone in September, just so I can fit into my nicer clothes fit when I start placement in a school at the end of the month.

Coldhandscoldheart · 07/09/2020 17:37

Dododedo
79.9 today so up a bit, but that’s after a week of no runs & quite a bit of carbs.
Plus I saw someone y’day who noticed I Have lost so that was nice.
