I don’t even recognise myself

In the past year (since getting married) I’ve gained about 3 stone.
I know exactly why, we went from being quite active to sitting in front of the TV most evenings and weekends, eating shit (chocolate etc).

We went out to a friends post wedding garden party this weekend (Social distanced) and when I looked at photos on Facebook I was MORTIFIED.

I know I’ve gained weight, but how did I not know I looked like that??
I didn’t even recognise myself!

So, today is Day 1 of ‘Bookaholic Gets Buff’ and I’m looking for support, advice, fellow ‘Buffers’ who would like to join in etc

I am quite active, although you wouldn’t believe it by looking at me. So it’s mainly diet I need to improve.

I’m 13st and a size 18 Blush
I’m aiming for 10st.

@DCIHoops

ok so want to let you know what you’ve done to inspire me! Something AMAZING happened this morning!

It’s Sunday and I’ve just got back from BEING OUT ON MY BIKE FOR 33 mins!!!!!!!

Normally on a Sunday I’m having a lie in til about 10:30 - THANK YOU!

Well done! My aim this week is to go to the gym, even if just once for now, it's a step in the right direction.
Coldhandscoldheart · 27/07/2020 08:12

81.1kg this morning. Not exactly an achievement but at least not gone up!

I started c25k last week, just have to keep the impetus going.

Cavagirl · 27/07/2020 09:27

Oh dear, not quite 1lb lost since last Monday. All my mainly alcohol- based cheating is catching up with me ☹
Started new exercise regime at the weekend though so hopefully that & being good will give things a kick! Having this Monday weigh-in is really helpful for accountability I must say.

SierraOscar · 27/07/2020 09:28

@Coldhandscoldheart have you done c25k before? I have every intention of starting it one day but I lack the confidence to just get out there and do it.

SierraOscar · 27/07/2020 09:29

I'm back to down to 80kg, my weight before period bloat. I'm hitting the regime again this week.

notevenamum1 · 27/07/2020 09:50

Week 1 weigh in today...I have lost 4.5lbs!! I am delighted with this considering I got my period yesterday. I know week 1 has the most dramatic loss so I am trying not to happy dance too hard Grin I am away for a long weekend next weekend soooooo...time will tell what results that will yield.

Coldhandscoldheart · 27/07/2020 13:34

@notevenamum1 well done - I always think that first week loss helps to keep you going.

@SierraOscar. I have done c25k in the past but always from a place of being much more fit, so usually started halfway through. This time I’m starting at the beginning & trying to keep going with it.
After all, if I don’t do it, in 9 weeks time It will still be October and I still won’t be able to run 5k.
Fiddling around with different apps at the moment because I like listening to podcasts & the bbc one doesn’t pause the playlist.
The BBC does have some quite good voice coaches, although it is a bit talkly for my liking. But it’s very very easy to use.

Do you want to do one with me tomorrow?

SierraOscar · 27/07/2020 15:44

@Coldhandscoldheart yes, I would like to do a c25k with you. That's exactly the kind of motivation I need.

Coldhandscoldheart · 27/07/2020 15:53

@SierraOscar righto get your app set up now - I’ll be back after work to arrange a time :)
Find your trainers and your headphones too. Now, today.

SierraOscar · 27/07/2020 21:50

Ah! I'm looking forward to this @Coldhandscoldheart

Coldhandscoldheart · 28/07/2020 04:52

God, sorry, last night got away from me a bit.
For some reason I’m awake v early.
I will usually run in the morning as I find the impetus wears off late in the day. About 8?
Let me know when you’re up.
Do not worry about other people except for the purposes of social distancing.

Coldhandscoldheart · 28/07/2020 07:06

I have decided I am going to put the radio on as background, or find something on iPlayer I don’t care about being interrupted too much.

SierraOscar · 28/07/2020 08:04

@Coldhandscoldheart I'll start around 8.30 once I've dropped DD off at nursery.

Coldhandscoldheart · 28/07/2020 08:16

Cool, I haven’t actually left yet. Or you know, dressed. I will do that now :)

Coldhandscoldheart · 28/07/2020 08:23

Right! I’m ready! Let’s go! Do a little stretch up & the. Bend down before you start helps a bit :)

SierraOscar · 28/07/2020 09:19

I'm back from my first venture into c25k. Today is just paced out what will become my run route. I will walk DD to nursery as a warm up and come the long way home doing c25k. I feel really positive about making this part of my life. Thank you @Coldhandscoldheart for motivating me!

Coldhandscoldheart · 28/07/2020 09:26

Brill! I used to skip the warm up walk, but I’m trying to do it properly this time.
Today I chose jo whiley who irritates me on the radio, but I really like doing this and Lauren laverne on r6. Seemed to work quite well and the halfway bell didn’t give me such a fright as it did listening to podcasts.

SierraOscar · 29/07/2020 23:10

I made the mistake of weighing myself midweek, the evil scales implied I've gained 2lbs.

I hit the gym for the first time since it re-opened. All the walking has paid off as I found the treadmill much easier. On the other hand I nearly died doing a circuit class which due to restrictions was more like an aerobics class, I won't be returning to that!

Coldhandscoldheart · 30/07/2020 06:40

Good going @SierraOscar I did one circuit class once about 20 years ago and along with step (I fell off the step) decided this was Not For Me.

Am aiming to run again today, although not this morning, it will be later.
Diet is all to pot, so aiming for damage limitation and fitness for this week/fortnight.

Coldhandscoldheart · 03/08/2020 15:53

Anyone?
81 kg today

SierraOscar · 03/08/2020 22:57

I'm scared of the scales this week. I had a blowout at the weekend on a girls weekend out. I promised myself that I would behave but I clearly can't be trusted 😞

Coldhandscoldheart · 03/08/2020 23:15

So I’ve just looked back and I’ve lost 100grams this week 😂
But! I am feeling trimmer round the middle, so I think that what is under the fat is toning up. That’s what I’m telling myself. So perhaps I just need to tip the balance a bit.
@SierraOscar be kind to yourself, did you have fun& enjoy it, or were you just chomping?

SierraOscar · 04/08/2020 08:06

@Coldhandscoldheart, glad to hear you are feeling positive. It was great weekend where the men and kids got left at home. I had two puddings a couple of cocktails and I don't feel guilty at all. I'm on my best behaviour now though!

notevenamum1 · 05/08/2020 10:39

@SierraOscar be kind to yourself! I also have had a girls weekend so was scared to weigh myself but I put on what I lost last week which I think is fine.

Plan is to have a super good week and lose 2lbs Grin

Week 1: -4.5lba
Week 2: -2lbs
Week 3: +1.5lbs

Total loss - 5lbs

SierraOscar · 05/08/2020 11:00

@notevenamum1 I refuse to feel guilty, it was a much needed weekend away. Who knows if it will possible again given the current covid climate.

I'm struggling to get my 10k steps in every day this week, I feel a bit tired. DH is at home being poorly, fortunately not covid but I'm having to look after him which is like looking after an extra toddler!
