I don’t even recognise myself

In the past year (since getting married) I’ve gained about 3 stone.
I know exactly why, we went from being quite active to sitting in front of the TV most evenings and weekends, eating shit (chocolate etc).

We went out to a friends post wedding garden party this weekend (Social distanced) and when I looked at photos on Facebook I was MORTIFIED.

I know I’ve gained weight, but how did I not know I looked like that??
I didn’t even recognise myself!

So, today is Day 1 of ‘Bookaholic Gets Buff’ and I’m looking for support, advice, fellow ‘Buffers’ who would like to join in etc

I am quite active, although you wouldn’t believe it by looking at me. So it’s mainly diet I need to improve.

I’m 13st and a size 18 Blush
I’m aiming for 10st.

@SierraOscar well done, that’s great!!
I’ve lost another 2lbs, so 8lbs in 2 weeks. Not bad!

Well done @Bookaholic73

I've just had another Joe Wicks meal for dinner, I didn't think it would be filling but it was and it was delicious.

Bookaholic73 · 13/07/2020 21:18

@SierraOscar is that from a cookbook?
I’ve been eating so much, I can hardly believe that I’m losing weight.
It’s nice not to feel hungry!

@Bookaholic73 yes, it's the lean in 15 book. I had a pork chop with beetroot, avocado and feta cheese. I served DH's with rice because he isn't on a low carb diet!

Lunch most days for me has been ham and eggs. I need to start expanding my meal choices.

I've also been hitting 10k steps a day which I've found quite challenging.

MrsPeacockInTheLibrary · 13/07/2020 21:27

You had me at Bookaholic Gets Book - if I can sneak into a corner somewhere.

I am just under 13 stone with at least a stone to lose. I do intermittent fasting.

LuluJakey1 · 13/07/2020 23:10

I lost 2lbs last week. Struggled a bit with my walk today. Managed 9.53 miles total but cut some corners. Did the last two miles carrying heavy shopping though.
Not very hungry today so haven't eaten much. Had decent meal tonight. Boiled new potatoes, lots of mixed veg and veggie sausages.
Have drank 2.5 L of water.

LuluJakey1 · 13/07/2020 23:14

Plus glass of dry white wine

Coldhandscoldheart · 19/07/2020 10:54

Anyone still about? I have done an exercise. Post holiday weigh tomorrow.

SierraOscar · 19/07/2020 17:56

I'm still here! I've refused to weigh myself this week as I had more carbs than the week before. Back on plan now and hoping for another loss for next weekend.

Coldhandscoldheart · 20/07/2020 06:47

Hooray for someone else! I always seem to kill these threads, but I really need to shake this weight!
Will weigh in later.

Katiemaggie · 20/07/2020 07:00

I'd love to join too. I've gained about the same and have slipped into bad habits like you. Spend way too much time in front of TV eating junk! I am now 14 stone!!! Want to lose 4 stone and get back to 10 stone. I have my cousin's wedding next August and don't want to be feeling self conscious and uncomfortable.

Coldhandscoldheart · 20/07/2020 08:28

81.8 today, not so bad after a week off.

Zoflorabore · 20/07/2020 08:33

Hi everyone I need to join please! Always been overweight, am 5ft 5 but carried it quite well. Now I’m ridiculously fat and it’s affecting my health. I need to lose 5st plus.

I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been. I’m 42.

Zoflorabore · 20/07/2020 08:35

Just to add that lockdown has affected me a lot. I walked so much normally doing the school run as I don’t drive and I injured my knee and foot which I’m still recovering from. Feel like crying!

Cavagirl · 20/07/2020 10:16

I'm still here! 2lbs lost since last Monday, which I'm pretty happy with as I basically had the day off on Saturday & the night off on Thursday...and I've now slipped into the "normal weight" category on BMI, yippee!
Still a way to go but keeping on keeping on.

MrsPeacockInTheLibrary · 20/07/2020 13:32

I am 12.9 at the moment. Very happy as I am 8 pounds away from finally being in my healthy weight range.

I also have one of those NHS waist measurement tapes - I am 91 on that, so sort of heading in the right direaction.

Well done Cavagirl for your achievment! For me it is the small things like no to that takeaway or extra (several) cookies.

SierraOscar · 20/07/2020 16:10

@Coldhandscoldheart I normally kill threads 🤣

I started off well this week, but treated myself to two chocolate hobnobs this morning as I have been accepted onto my uni course. Two biscuits is better than my usual scoff the packet and blame the cat.

Cavagirl · 20/07/2020 16:16

Well done @MrsPeacockInTheLibrary!
And congratulations @SierraOscar, both on the uni course and not scoffing the packet! 🤣
Bet they were good though. I'd bloody love a chocolate hobnob. Going to give cauliflower pizza a go tonight, hopefully it's not a disaster!

notevenamum1 · 20/07/2020 17:44

Can I please join? @Katiemaggie I am also 14st! At 5ft8 I would love to be 10 stone but would settle for anything below 12 stone. Aiming for one stone at a time! I started intermittent fasting and calorie counting today. Not gona lie, I am starving but hoping that it’ll get easier after a week once my body adjusts

Coldhandscoldheart · 20/07/2020 20:27

Lol @SierraOscar I wish I’d thought of blowing the cat before.
I’ve eaten far too much tonight, although not that bad for the rest of the day (going to pretend the biscuits were written off by the cycle in to work).
And there’s about to be sticky toffee pudding, but it will go off otherwise 😳
That’s rather a lit of excuses for one day.
OTOH cycled to & from work & about yo do some hula hooping. Although you can’t outrun your fork, it has to help surely?

SierraOscar · 20/07/2020 20:49

Thank you @Cavagirl

@coldhandscoldheart take every day one step at a time. Today might not be the best day but there is still tomorrow to make a change.

I had my first chocolate bar in over 3 weeks at the weekend. I was hoping I would find it repulsive, alas, I found it very moreish and had to resist the temptation of ripping my husbands out of his hand.

Welcome to @katiemaggie @zoflorabore and @notevenamum1

Coldhandscoldheart · 20/07/2020 21:22

😂 blaming! Blaming the cat!

Coldhandscoldheart · 21/07/2020 06:56

@SierraOscar interesting what you say about the chocolate.i wonder how long it takes that trigger to go, I’m certainly finding that small sugar =more sugar

SierraOscar · 21/07/2020 08:05

I've really cut back on carbs as I understand they add to the sugar craving. I miss chocolate 😭

buckeejit · 21/07/2020 16:42

Weighing back in after a weeks 'holiday' & then DD's birthday & then old uni friend came to stay so another 5 days of acting like students & drinking wine until all hours etc. Hey ho, I put 4lb on over that time but back on the wagon as of yest.

As I'm not working & dc here on school holidays, I'm finding that I love lying in - went to bed at 11pm last night & still lay in until 9.15. I think I need more sleep than I usually allow myself. On the plus side I wasn't hungry this morn.

Is there anyone else here who eats & drinks because they just never want the party to end & so always 'treating' themselves? I need to move away from this mentality & feel less down when I've no letting loose to look forward to.

Did 15k steps yest & would like to aim for 12k+ all this week to see if that helps. Sadly my 10k wasn't providing the big losses that I'd really like for a week or 2 for a boost!
