@Twixes I do a bit of 16:8, I've done it in the past and have days where I do it to save calories if I know we're having a takeaway that evening.

I find eating between 12-8 works for me. It stops me picking in the evenings once the kids are in bed and I find I can usually distract myself until midday. I usually have a banana at midday and then lunch at 2 ish, then dinner in the evening.

Some people find they lose weight without watching what they eat in the eating window but I've found I still have to control calories.

Since I've taken up exercise I've found it harder as I like to run in the morning so basically running on empty!

Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket · 17/06/2020 13:36

@twixes 24.7 BMI is healthy, though? I thought it was over 25 that is overweight?

HoneysuckIejasmine · 17/06/2020 13:47

It is. 18-25 is the "normal" range. Of course that's usually a range of several stone to account for different body types but some people do feel large at the top end of it. Certainly I wouldn't panic is mine were 24.7 (I wish!) but I would maybe keep a gentle eye to make sure it didn't slip over 25.

B mushroom omelette (of course!)
L chicken and veg soup, cheese on toast, lentil crisps
D fajitas
S fruit and nut chocolate

Shouldn't have had crisps and cheese on toast. One or other. Silly me.

Didn't do any running last night as I was sewing some chair covers out of old waterproof tablecloths. Kids sticky fingers and fabric chairs not a great mix.

TheHoneyBadger · 17/06/2020 14:08

I’m still fasting as I’ve kept busy and lost track of time. Have a stew in the slow cooker-and I’m trying out the barley in it! That will be really low can so can eat as much as I want of it.

Ds will have it with smoked sausage and weirdly I’m thinking I may just put a spoonful of cottage cheese in my portion? Is that gross? I have a pot that’s at risk of going to waste and I’m convincing myself it’ll be like adding cream to a soup.

Off out for a walk now to try and encourage fat burning given I have no other fuel available after 17 hours fasted.

TheHoneyBadger · 17/06/2020 14:09

Mmmm cheese on toast

Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket · 17/06/2020 14:15

Ah, phew! I was panicking there @honeysuckle. Yes, I suppose if you are a very small frame you might feel big at the upper end. My aim is always top end of healthy!
Cheese on toast sounds so good!
Today's food
B. Berries, porridge almonds, latte 300
L. Sourdough toast and butter with veg soup and 2 nectarines (700!)
D. Will probably do chicken tacos and try to keep it down to (4-500)

Hangoverstruggles · 17/06/2020 16:20

BMI is such a wide range. For a healthy weight at my height I can supposedly be between 8st10 and 11st10 which is a massive difference to how I'd look & feel.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 17/06/2020 18:05

Honey you can blend cottage cheese with chickpeas to make a low cal houmous.

Hope your walk went well. Do be sensible though - fasting for a long time then exercising can be dangerous. I'm sure you know your limits but take care.

Twixes · 17/06/2020 18:35

@Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket people within a normal BMI are allowed to want to lose too! Confused

My aim is a BMI of 22...might be impossible but it's important to have goals.

RaraRachael · 17/06/2020 18:45

Today I have had -
B Toast with marmalade
L 2 Ryvita with cheese and chutney, yoghurt
D Salmon, new potatoes, carrots
S Topic, coffee

I am having a wee treat of a Topic as I think I've been good all week. I bought a pack of 4 for OH and myself but have to get him to hide the other 2 for Saturday night and otherwise I'd eat one of them. I have NO willpower where chocolate is concerned Sad

Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket · 17/06/2020 18:48

Ah yeah, fair enough @twixes, wasn't meaning to piss on your bonfire. Hope you make it to 22!
I've gone slightly off track today due to tiredness, woke up in really bad period pain at 4 and didn't get back to sleep, then saw Starbucks was open and excitedly had a mocha frapuccino 'for medicinal purposes' which put me over my calorie limit by about 150.
Done loads of steps though, 18000 so hopefully in deficit.

Hangoverstruggles · 17/06/2020 19:02

I've eaten healthily and exercised today (3 miles of walking to and from school, 3 mile run, and 30 mins of strength exercise at home) but gone over what I planned calorie wise today.

B weetabix, big coffee (280)
L 3 scrambled eggs, 2 slices of toast and some smoked salmon (520)
D chicken & pasta with tomato sauce, yogurt (520)
S 2 breadsticks with dip, 4 squares of choc, nuts (260)

Total 1600

I think I'm only in about 1500 deficit this week and weigh on Friday so doubtful there will be much change from last Friday!

Twixes · 17/06/2020 19:11

No hard feelings @Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket ! It's unlikely to happen anyway Blush sure I just pissed on my own parade by eating a Chinese.

EndlessUserName · 17/06/2020 19:38

I'm with you @twixes my BMI is currently 21.6, aiming for 9st which is BMI 20.2 apparently. I have a very small frame, pear shaped so very very slender on top, legs not huge, any weight goes to my middle, so losing weight makes a big difference to how I look and feel

MonsteraCheeseplant · 17/06/2020 19:44

Hey everyone. Is this feeling a bit tedious to anyone else yet? Bored. I'm sure I would be bored regardless of the food intake mind you.

B: Yoghurt
L: Soup
D: Pork Enchiladas
S: All the snacks....
Just under 1200 though.

Hangoverstruggles · 17/06/2020 19:48

Yes 😴 so bored of it!
You are so consistently good with 1200!!

I am struggling, think my only saving grace is the running to use up when I go over!

EndlessUserName · 17/06/2020 19:58

Definitely very bored. James Smith says I should be super motivated at this time in my cycle. And I sort of am in that I'm eating the right stuff, logging everything, exercising, but it feels like in just going through the motions right now

HoneysuckIejasmine · 17/06/2020 20:07

Yes definitely bored too. But I would caution against doing that too often. It really slowed my loss down. Trouble is none of these apps and trackers are reliably accurate to track cals burned. So make sure that after exercise you still have a decent deficit. I would eat 500 extra cals, then burn "500" I'm exercise but in reality I wasn't doing enough to remain in deficit. I try to make sure I have about a 300 cal deficit now so I can be sure it really is a deficit!
MonsteraCheeseplant · 17/06/2020 20:23

All these thunderstorms have really got in the way of exercise for me. We haven't gone for a walk for 2 days now. As i'm working from home i must have done a grand total of 12 steps today Hmm

OP posts:
Hangoverstruggles · 17/06/2020 20:45

@HoneysuckIejasmine yes until now I haven't 'eaten the exercise' but I'm so close to my goal weight (literally half lb!!) that I'm finding it hard to stay motivated.

Today I ate 1500 or so which is still 200 below my tdee plus i exercised.

I ran 5k, walked 3 miles and did sets of sit ups / arm exercises etc so confident all that would be at least 300 cals off bringing my net for today around 1200.

Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket · 17/06/2020 21:25

1/2lb! That's amazing @Hangoverstruggles, well done
Yes, I am bored too. I feel like a particularly angry badger is trying to claw it's way out of my insides and I just want to be allowed to eat buttery toast, have a glass of wine and a few days lying down.
Vaguely considering switching to 5:2 for a week or two to break it up

Twixes · 17/06/2020 21:45

@stopfundinghate high five! That's such an amazing BMI! So unbelievably jealousGrin

Hangoverstruggles · 17/06/2020 22:28

@Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket thanks! Set my goal at 10st2 which will be a stone off lost since mid April. I might continue from there but at a slower pace or aim to maintain for a month? Who knows!

@stopfundinghate I'm also 21.6 bmi at the moment. I've never really thought about a goal bmi before. Just been playing around with the calculator and 20.2 I think would be too low for me as would put me at 9st7. I'm hour glass and 5'8" It's been many years since I was in the 9s! Interesting how wide the range is.

TheHoneyBadger · 18/06/2020 05:42

Pretty good yesterday fasted for 18hrs but it was an eating day so had a couple of big bowls of my veggie stew with a big dollop of cottage cheese and 6 Bourbon biscuits-haven’t had biscuits in a while and needed to eat more rather than have two days in a row of really low cal.

I only had cals between 3 and 6pm so easy to get a decent non eating window today. I was going to go for a good walk being up so early but it’s pouring with rain

TheHoneyBadger · 18/06/2020 05:48

My bmi depressed me thoroughly yesterday. Can’t believe how quickly I piled all this weight on and how long it is taking to lose any of it.

My doc is convinced it’s to do with gut bacteria going out of whack after my bowel surgery. Am taking probiotics, apple cider vinegar and next is to try tiny doses of fibrogel (I hate it because it makes me bloated and uncomfortable but I’ve been persuaded to try again with tiny dose and gradually build up) which feeds the good bacteria according to my pharmacist.

I don’t want to resign to being fat forever.
