Caught up this morning, now all I can think of is buttery toast Grin @Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket

@honey is this helpful - that's the last time you'll have that BMI, you are taking the first steps to a healthier you. I have been overweight before, I think you have to enjoy losing weight to keep it up in order to lose a fair bit (like I did)

It sounds so difficult for you after having bowel surgery. I wonder if a nutritionist would be a good idea? I follow one on Instagram - rhitrition, she does podcasts too. I also tested an online nutritionist for Mumsnet! She was amazing and really helped me to think about making healthier habits. If you had a spare bit of cash there are good (and bad!) registered nutritionists online who can do zoom and phone calls to help tailor a plan for you

You can do it @honey, but you need to enjoy it too I think x

Weight gain is an absolute bitch @TheHoneyBadger Sad I hope you're feeling more positive today.

I weighed myself again this morning (stupid I know) and I'm actually heavier pushing me into overweight zone.

I'm going to fast until lunch, filling up on coffee 🤞🏻

Octopus37 · 18/06/2020 08:21

Hope you are feeling better today HoneyBadger, hopefully you can get more help from a nutritionist. Hangover, my BMI is the same as yours, not sure of a final goal. Have decided to fast this morning till lunch, feel a bit yuk and out of control at the moment. Have recognised myself eating for the sake of it and thing I'm not that keen on for convenience and the scales are creeping up, 9st3.5. Have also been reading some stuff on one of the other threads about hunger and have decided that I need to get better at dealing with it. Hope everyone has a good day

MonsteraCheeseplant · 18/06/2020 09:25

I agree about gut bacteria. I've heard some interesting headlines about it and weight.

Well I've hit 10.2. Considering that when I started I was aiming for 10.10 and never dreamed of getting this far, I find it hard to believe that I now have. I thought I would feel different. I'll look into what I should do now but I think I might try increasing my daily calories by 100 for a week and see how that goes.

@Monstera well done! Another lb down!! Well done you. I was 10st 2.5 yesterday so hoping that stays. I looked at the Jordan Syatt video about calorie calculation and he recommends choosing a target weight in lbs & multiplying that by 12 to get a daily calorie amount. Doing that gives me a daily amount of 1500 which would be a 2lb loss a month as long as I keep up the exercise. Much slower than I have been but thinking it would be more sustainable.

@TheHoneyBadger hope you're doing ok. It sounds so tough. I hope you can get some expert advice. You are doing really well.

@Octopus37 eating habits are so hard to break. I'm such a picker and those little bits really add up. You've had a lot going on, but are clearly focused on losing so I'm sure it'll click again!

everycowandagain · 18/06/2020 10:54

Hey all, I am maintaining at the moment, just had too much going on to be very focused on it. Still getting the workouts in though.

Ate my body weight in chicken wings and DS's birthday cake yesterday and I have only just started to feel hungry about 5 minutes ago this morning!!

MonsteraCheeseplant · 18/06/2020 11:16

Thank you @Hangoverstruggles, that's an interesting calculation and gives me 1704 calories. It doesn't take height into account which is curious but it does end up being about the same as the TDEE calculator which does take height and is where I subtracted 500 a day for the 1200 cals weight loss target which has been working well for me. I'm a bit nervous about ruining my progress, going back to old habits etc but will have to make changes slowly, monitor and see how I go I guess.

The slowness of change would be hard to live with...but if it is easier to sustain then that's realistic?

Thanks all. I’m doing all the right things for gut health now and my thyroid meds have been increased as I tested low again. Have to hope that all helps.

This is the first time I’ve ever piled on a large amount of weight rapidly and I got stuck in it’s not fair land for a while and feeling powerless.

Sorry for the whinge. Weight is pretty emotional. A friend suggested it was my bodies way of trying to protect me after massive surgery and I keep reassuring my subconscious it’s safe to lose weight Grin

I just have to stick at it.

Congrats monstera and kudos to your consistency

TheHoundsofLove · 18/06/2020 11:44

Well done Monstera - you've done brilliantly.
Hangover I'm very much in the slow but sustainable camp.
Those of you who are counting calories - what do you plan to do for maintenance? Will you carry on counting calories on a daily basis? Count during the week and have the weekends 'off'? I know from previous failed efforts that maintenance is the really tricky part, so I need to have a plan. I definitely plan to stick with 16:8 as it really suits me, but I'm also aware of how easy it is for me to be thrown off course and end up off the rails. Exercise, particularly running, does seem to keep me on track, but I don't want to be complacent about it. There's absolutely no bloody way that I'm putting this weight back on - it's been too much of a slog to lose in the first place! Grin

TheHoundsofLove · 18/06/2020 11:49

Honey Weight is emotional and weight loss is such a complex issue. You're doing so well though - you just need to take it slowly and keep going! Smile

Heygirlheyboy · 18/06/2020 11:50

Hi all I'm still here, just saying hello and well done.

MonsteraCheeseplant · 18/06/2020 12:22

Thank you for your lovely comments.

Weight and eating are super emotional, life would be so much easier if they weren't!

I haven't figured out maintenance in my head yet but my initial thoughts are to weigh weekly to make sure i'm not creeping too much up and calorie count new meals or unusual days to make sure i'm ballpark in the right calorie range.

As it is, my routine is pretty easy. Now that I know how many cals most of my breakfasts, lunches and evening meals are, I can estimate from there. I'll calorie count for a while as my body adjusts to not being in a deficit anymore, hopefully, if all goes well, I can not log everything so much and go with my routine meals.

Well done @MonsteraCheeseplant and @Octopus:)

And hello @Heygirlheyboy good to see you're still here too Smile

After eating half a Chinese take away at 6.45pm last night I managed to fast until 12pm. Pretty pleased with that. The hunger came in waves and kind of went away for a while when I got stuck into cleaning the floors. So it'll be just two meals today which should be ok. No idea of calories but I'm not going to snack between now and dinner.

TheHoneyBadger · 18/06/2020 15:09

Really easy to get a long fast window in today. I’m going to put some jacket potatoes on shortly and I’ll have one with cottage cheese and salad and save the other one to have with mackerel later.

Ds is making himself eggs now and I’ll make him a pasta dish later and resist joining him.

Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket · 18/06/2020 19:45

Well done @MonsteraCheeseplant! Amazing!
I'm still very far from my goal weight @TheHoundsofLove and currently calorie counting. When I get there I'll need a plan for maintenance, it won't be continuing to calorie count. I'll just have general rules. 10,000 steps a day, no snacks apart from fruit, don't drink calories and I'll probably need to keep on with regular weighing. Also need an alcohol rule, one night per week I suppose.
I find maintenance hard so would be really interested in what everyone else's plans are too.

TheHoneyBadger · 18/06/2020 19:56

One night a week Shock Grin

I’m sticking with don’t have beer in the house and mix with lots of low cal tonic

HoneysuckIejasmine · 18/06/2020 20:14

Quick check in

B ham omelette (out of mushrooms)
L soup, salad
D smoked salmon and cream cheese pasta with leeks and broccoli.

Octopus37 · 19/06/2020 07:14

Had quite a good day for me yesterday, better than for ages:
4 Ryvitas with cheese (I liked the black pepper ones)
A Nature Valley bar
Oven fish, chips and peas
A large slice of melon
Weighed 9st1.75 today, hope I can continue in the same vein today.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 19/06/2020 09:13

B mushroom omelette
L
D

Eugh. I feel uninspired. Food shop was delivered last night so now I am totally uninspired because of too much choice!

Heygirlheyboy · 19/06/2020 09:22

Checking in with breakfast and lunch for first time in a long tíme. Thankfully haven't gone up any further so I am 7.5lb up on my best weight early March. I am eating OK but definitely gorging on the sweet stuff mindlessly. Dealing with health issues with a family member so not being too tough in myself and hitting 10k steps or thereabouts most days.
B porridge and chopped banana
L omelette with cherry tomatoes and avocado
D takeaway of some sort for Friday

MonsteraCheeseplant · 19/06/2020 09:55

Managed to get out for a walk last night finally. This weather kind of sucks.

B: Yoghurt, some berries
L: soup and some crisps
D: leek and potted shrimp risotto using pearl barley
Hopefully another walk this evening.

EndlessUserName · 19/06/2020 10:06

Hope you're ok @Heygirlheyboy

Not feeling it today. It's been a tough week

B - ONO
L - salmon and salad
D - fish and chips...
S - lots of chocolate today already. Oh well

Will maybe weigh in tomorrow to see where I'm at.

Hangoverstruggles · 19/06/2020 10:30

Well done octopus, good luck today. I find a good day kick starts another good day but a bad day triggers a run of bad days (prob just me and lack of will power!)

Be kind to yourself @stop if you've had a hard week. Hope the weekend is better.

I've had 3 good days this week but yesterday wasn't as celebrated by dads birthday with cake & hotdogs (😋) I've weighed in at 10st 3 which is a maintain from last week. I'm ok with that.

Still keeping my interim goal of 10st 2 but would like to push on to 10st to give me a bit of leeway when maintaining.

For the calorie counters I've just realised in MFP you can see weekly totals with an average per day. This is so useful to me and had no idea. Just sharing in case you guys don't know.

TheHoundsofLove · 19/06/2020 10:42

Hi everyone. Smile
Your leek and shrimp risotto sound absolutely lovely Monstera !
I've been for my usual 5k run with my son this morning - he's got much fitter since we started and now the dog and I have to sprint to keep up! Grin He's enjoying it though and wants to carry on running with me - which is an unexpected positive to come from the lockdown as he would never have wanted to come with me ordinarily!

TheHoneyBadger · 19/06/2020 11:19

So a few good days and I’m less than a lb over the new low I glimpsed before pms screwed me and the scales said I’d gained half a stone. Back on track.

I think I have to be religiously good from a few days into my period until say 5 days before. There’s seemingly always going to be a week or so where it all goes to shit for me so I need to really make the most of the part of my cycle when I can lose weight.

God men have it easy
