When I had more calories available to me, I would take an apple, slice it thinly, pop on a plate with 15g peanut butter and sit down, carefully spread some peanut butter in the apple, slice at a time. It's a satisfying snack. It's about 200 cals depending on how big your apple is, and it takes a good while to eat. I don't know about the rest of you but I can easily put down about 500 cals worth in a few minutes of mindless snacking. So it was a way to stop that.

TheHoneyBadger · 11/06/2020 17:14

We do live in a hard era for weight control. You can get 1000 cals in a small pot of ice cream ffs. High calorie tasty but nutritionally worthless food is everywhere.

Also difficult with kids in the house to banish shit food. Ds is permanently hungry. I’d be chained to the cooker if we didn’t have quick snack food in

TheHoundsofLove · 11/06/2020 17:18

I hope you've started to feel a bit more positive as the day has gone on Iggle . And a Michelin star delivery sounds wonderful Monstera !
I'll be at about 2000 calories today, which I'm okay with as it's a bank holiday here and so I'm a bit out of routine. I did a 10km run this morning and then an 8km dog walk this afternoon to balance it out though. I feel like I'm definitely heading in the right direction again - we will see when I do my weekly weigh-in on Saturday....

TheHoneyBadger · 11/06/2020 17:56

I’d be half dead after all that hounds! You deserve to be the mythical (bar prepubescents) size 6.

MonsteraCheeseplant · 11/06/2020 18:36

Where are you that it is bank holiday today?

OP posts:
Hangoverstruggles · 11/06/2020 18:46

Wow @TheHoundsofLove that's some impressive exercise! I can just manage a 5k run, aiming to increase my speed a bit at that distance before increasing the distance but would love to do 10k eventually.

@Monstera that sounds delicious and a lovely treat. Enjoy it! Been meaning to ask how your shins are now?

Iggle totally hear you. It's intense with young children. Ours are back at school now which has taken the pressure off a bit but we still miss all the usual activities that breaks the day & weekend up. It will get better!

Yes @TheHoneyBadger it's so easy to eat a lot of calories! I used to devour a bar of chocolate a night, with wine and not really think anything of it. Everything i want to eat is laden with calories!

Hangoverstruggles · 11/06/2020 18:53

I've been pretty good today. Fasted until lunch and have eaten pretty well. Walked about 2 miles for school runs and ran 5k.

B Green tea
L marinated chicken breast, new potatoes, cherry toms, broccoli, 2 small gingerbread men, big coffee
D beef tagine & cous cous, Activia yogurt, almonds, green & black mini bar

1200

Working tomorrow for a 5 day stretch so let's see if I can keep it going 🤞

MonsteraCheeseplant · 11/06/2020 19:03

All better now thanks for asking!

B: Yoghurt
L: Soup
D: Greek yoghurt pizza
S: popcorn, 2 dairy milk cookies
1,200

Looks like you're doing really well everybody Smile
I'll be weighing myself in the morning, before the 3 course dinner Grin

TheHoundsofLove · 11/06/2020 20:30

I'm in Germany Monstera .
I totally agree Hangover and Honey - it's so easy to consume too many calories and for it not to even feel like much of an extravagance! I honestly think that a snacking habit is bad news, but then it's pretty much impossible not to have snacks in the house with children....

MonsteraCheeseplant · 11/06/2020 20:46

Nice, i've never been. The German market in Birmingham is my closest facsimile and I suspect, it doesn't hold a candle. Friends have told me I should go to Berlin but could never articulate why it's so great.

OP posts:
TheHoneyBadger · 11/06/2020 20:52

Monster don’t let calories even cross your mind when enjoying that 3 course meal.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 11/06/2020 20:53

In the end, today was:
B cereal cast offs
L soup, houmous, carrot, rejected peanut butter toast
D burgers and chips
1200 but I am going to have a snack later, will be 1240 by bedtime.

I agree it's hard when you've got kids. I also hate the wasting of food and try to keep kids rejects in fridge for future use. But peanut butter toast can't keep and I love it. Luckily had enough calories available so I just ate it.

Perils of having kids - snacks and leftovers.

MonsteraCheeseplant · 11/06/2020 21:18

Yeah, that's why I will weigh in the morning rather than the day after Grin

@Honeysucklejasmine - rejected peanut butter toast??

I've had a cracking headache and eye strain today. I'm not used to whole days in front of the computer.

OP posts:
HoneysuckIejasmine · 11/06/2020 21:20

I know right?! DS ate his body weight in raisins and blueberry wheats and then shat on the carpet twice so rejected it. Weirdo.

Hangoverstruggles · 11/06/2020 21:35

I've well & truly cracked....starving so ate a banana, handful of nuts, and two digestive biscuits. I was already at 1200 so ended more like 1400.

No idea why I'm so hungry these last few days. I'm so close to my target but finding it hard! Maybe because I've stepped up my exercise....

Never mind. Could have been worse! 😁

Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket · 11/06/2020 22:15

@HoneysuckIejasmine your menu made me laugh. Reminds me of the days when my kids were toddlers and I'd have meals that were like all the Cheerios off the bib, jar of apple purée, large bar of chocolate, can of Guinness. You're doing better that I was!
A three course fancy meal sounds so good @MonsteraCheeseplant enjoy it!
I've gone over on calories today but not too much
B. Bacon and egg sandwich, half a granola bar coffee
L. Peri peri chicken thighs, salad
D. Sticky ginger pork, rice salad
S. Marmite toast, 9 cherry liquors
Total calories 1865
Went on a long walk with a friend so 16000 steps.
Zoom drinks tomorrow night so guessing it might be a maintain week for me.

Hangoverstruggles · 12/06/2020 06:38

Morning, I've just weighed and I'm 10st3 this morning!

That's 2lb loss this week! Can't believe it! I checked 3 times and kept getting the same result. Fingers crossed it's not a fluke 🤞

1lb to go to get to my goal weight. So pleased.

MonsteraCheeseplant · 12/06/2020 07:22

Holy moly @Hangoverstruggles that's amazing!

OP posts:
MonsteraCheeseplant · 12/06/2020 08:03

Erm.....ME TOO @Hangoverstruggles!
10.3, 2lbs down in a week after having a chippy dinner last weekend! Bloody hell!

OP posts:
EndlessUserName · 12/06/2020 08:15

Wow fantastic @monstera and @Hangoverstruggles !!!

I'm also very pleased this week. Vanity jeans which I bought in Xmas sales (yes I know!!) finally fit! They look pretty good too, they are super skinny proper denim, but will look even better when I'm at target. 8lb to go!

DP bday weekend has turned into a bday week so I ate very carefully Mon, Tues, weds, ate total rubbish yesterday and have managed to maintain my weight which I'm so pleased about! And relieved haha! I will eat very sensibly today ahead of more food this weekend

B - 20g cornflakes, banana
L - 1 slice beans on toast
D - spicy salmon, rice, veg

Octopus37 · 12/06/2020 08:35

Hi all, I'm back. Looks as if everyone is doing very well with our losses. The move went relatively smoothly yesterday, lots to do but making some headway. Predictably not very good on the diet front, two Domino takeaways. Scales only work in the kitchen, cause everywhere else is carpeted, 9st3.5 this morning which I predicted. Will aim to eat more healthily over the next few days, am actually Dominoed out which is an unusual feeling.

Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket · 12/06/2020 08:51

Amazing work @MonsteraCheeseplant, @Hangoverstruggles and @stopfundinghate that's brilliant!!
Glad your move went well @octopus
I started doing couch to 5k this morning, mainly to accompany and motivate my son, who needs to get fitter.

TheHoundsofLove · 12/06/2020 09:31

Well done Monstera, Hangover and stop . It's a great feeling when clothes start to fit isn't it?!
Iggle C25K is brilliant - I hope you love it!

EndlessUserName · 12/06/2020 10:30

Well done @iggle I love c25k too

So glad it went smoothly @octopus

Funny you mentioned being dominoed out. I came on here to mention how weird this is for me - we started DP birthday cake yesterday, I felt totally awful after a day of bad eating yesterday, full but also full of sugar and jittery. Today I couldn't resist another slice of cake but now feel the same again, like I just can't deal with that amount of sugar all at once. Has anyone else felt this? Does your stomach kind of get used to eating smaller portions? As previously I could easily have eaten the whole cake and felt fine!! I'm trying to remember this feeling and hope it will help me moderate myself at times, as I feel like crap afterwards, so is overeating worth it? (Sometimes it will be! But sometimes it might make me stop and think) interested to hear what you all think
