So today is day 1, I've just taken my before pictures had a little cry and weighed myself.

I've got 3.5 stone to lose and then some more that I'll assess when I get there.
Because I WILL get there!

Starting off with calorie counting, no choc/crisps and either a bike ride or c25k every evening after dc2 goes to sleep. And will tweak as necessary as I go.

I'm planning on posting here A LOT as dh is less than helpful and tbh is he's annoying me during lock down so I'll probably moan about him here too!

Feel free to join in, share tips, try stay sane and on track. Halo

Ok, couldn't think of a fancy new one!

@Toomanycats99 that's brilliant well done!

I'm still not quite in the zone but will get there!

TitsalinaBumSquash · 08/07/2020 11:58

I've nearly lost a stone, the last pound keeps going on and off, it's driving me mad!

RubySlippers77 · 09/07/2020 00:07

Well done to everyone on their weight loss 👏 I lost 1lb this week, not spectacular but ok.

@Toomanycats99 I went low carb for a bit and it worked well for me too! Then DS2 went into hospital unexpectedly and the only food available was sandwiches, pasta etc... I found it a brilliant way of eating before I had the DC and could please myself about what I ate and when, it's a lot more tricky now Confused

RubySlippers77 · 09/07/2020 00:09

@BluePajamas I was in the zone for a bit, am struggling this week due to lots of house stuff needing my attention; just lacking time to plan/ cook/ eat proper meals! I'm determined to continue with lots of exercise over the summer hols though, for me and the DC. Have you made any plans?

Well I missed my 10k steps one day because it was absolutely pissing it down and in same day I had a lovely non calorie counted dinner for a special occasion with a couple of drinks. This was 3 days ago and I am now 4lbs up i.e. back to where I started a month ago!!! This happens every bloody time I try to lose weight and this is why I give up. I need to stop weighing myself. Off on holiday next week (staycation, non U.K.) so doubt that’s going to help. Oh well Sad

BluePajamas · 10/07/2020 10:51

@RubySlippers77 that's the same here I just feel so unorganised and busy, I need to work on my priorities!

I've gone self employed during this covid malarkey (clever eh!) and I'm scared to turn anything down so instead I'm so busy I'm not getting anything done at home and am losing the plot! (Least I can pay off the start up costs quicker though!)

No holidays here sadly, I'm just counting down the days til homeschooling is finished as it's the main source of guilt atm.

RubySlippers77 · 10/07/2020 11:14

I feel like I need a (child free!) day or so just to clear the decks of all clutter and get myself organised @BluePajamas. If I could get a head start with having the house clean and tidy, meal planning/ food shopping done and a couple of meals cooked for eating and freezing, I would feel much better about it all Star

I'm a SAHM but was hoping to start a college course or part time work from September when the DC will be in full time school... no idea what'll happen now though. I might have to look for WFH stuff just to work round the (lack of) childcare availability here, as DP often works away from home and irregular hours.

I'm pleased the play parks, swimming pools etc are reopening for the DC to work off some energy! I lost 1lb this week, not spectacular but ok. Maybe a bit of extra exercise will help shift the pounds faster?!

notevenamum1 · 10/07/2020 21:35

I have so much respect for all you ladies who are juggling everything going on in their lives with no school/childcare available. Massive kudos for being able to even try to diet with all of that!

RubySlippers77 · 12/07/2020 22:42

@notevenamum1 the thought of summer without any childcare does make me think of stockpiling chocolate and just diving into it Grin but I won't yet

Does your homeschooling finish soon @BluePajamas?

I'm watching 'How to lose weight well' on Channel 4 at the moment where they test drive lots of diets, it's very interesting actually. Although I am Shock at the fact that some of the 'fatties' are quite a bit lighter than me...

BluePajamas · 13/07/2020 10:58

So I haven't weighed in a few weeks and I'm up AGAIN.

I got a treadmill yday off eBay though and got up at 6 to do an hour walking.. calories burned didn't seem to be worth it but it's a start!

BluePajamas · 13/07/2020 19:01

It's worked! I've not even been tempted today as I didn't want to waste my efforts this morning.

Hope everyone is doing ok

RubySlippers77 · 13/07/2020 23:05

Good thinking @BluePajamas!!

DS2 didn't want to go out to the park this afternoon so I missed out on a few steps there, but I did do a 10 minute HIIT workout which I was pleased with even though it nearly killed me

RubySlippers77 · 18/07/2020 23:05

Are you still using your treadmill @BluePajamas? I'm doing over 10K steps per day but (as I know only too well!) that doesn't guarantee me any weight loss...

Hope everyone else is doing well @notevenamum1 @TitsalinaBumSquash @Toomanycats99

Toomanycats99 · 19/07/2020 05:16

@RubySlippers77

I meant to update on this yesterday but could t remember the title and it had dropped off my im on.

I'm 10lbs down now - slowed after first week but still not to bad I guess for 2.5 weeks. I have been following the diet pretty much but not done nearly as much of the exercise as I should. If you count he couple of pounds I somehow lost from the first time I weight myself to when j started following it i'm 12lbs down since 28 June.

It's been easier than I though. I have occasional cravings for carby stuff but am managing to resist. My dd even had McDonald's this week and I only stole 2 chips!

It's expensive on the food budget though!

Good you are managing the steps every day.

RubySlippers77 · 19/07/2020 23:37

10lb is really impressive @Toomanycats99!! I was looking at low carb again today but just not sure how I could manage it as I'm vegetarian and am not a massive fan of cheese... plus when we take the DC out I often take a low fat snack (flapjack, cake etc) just as an energy boost to keep going. They are all WW recipes and I only need a little bit, but I can't work out what low carb alternative I could take!

I can imagine it's expensive, especially as good quality/ organic/ grass fed meat or eggs is £££ more, such a shame as it does usually make you feel better to eat less carbs.

I'm still watching How to Lose Weight Well and the people on low carb diets have reported the same as you after a while, that they don't really miss chips/ rice/ mash etc. It's just making it to that point, I imagine!

Toomanycats99 · 20/07/2020 05:56

@RubySlippers77

I don't want to be giving them up for ever so hopefully I can balance it once I am at maintaining. I do seem to be able to eat less and feel full so hopefully that will stick too!

For example Saturday was a burger with veg in my plan. I bought a butternut squash and made some chips with that so I still had sensation of eating something chip like if that makes sense. Some is also just resetting my ideas of what's nice. For example before my default omelette would be bacon mushroom and lots of cheese. I have now had spinach and mushroom with hardly any cheese. Still nice but probably half calories!

BluePajamas · 20/07/2020 09:20

I used the treadmill twice, but even at 6-7am my conservatory is 25c so I've put it off, I have been hitting my 10k steps though which I haven't for a while..I've ate and drank with no thought this weekend though, we had a joint 3 birthdays and a 45th wedding anniversary bbq so lots of wine was consumed and I blew any chance I had eating cake!

I've decided I need something to work for rather than in general so I'm aiming for 2lbs off this week. It's my own bday in 11 weeks and would be nice be a dress size smaller... or at least loose fitting by then

notevenamum1 · 20/07/2020 10:42

Hi @RubySlippers77 thanks for asking. Feeling pretty down. Been away for a week and holiday eating has obviously shown colossal damage on the scales. I also posted the following the responses have really got me thinking:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/3968188-Is-being-fat-a-choice

I really need to do something about my weight. I never thought of it as being a choice but maybe it is.

Anyway, back on it today. Have decided to do intermittent fasting so probably 1-9 rather than 12-8 and I don’t know if I can persuade my husband to jace lunch at 12 as we are both eating together due to working from home! So essentially just skipping breakfast. Also decided to start having my coffee black as I have probably been consuming about 200 cals of milk without realising it.

I also did a salt water flush this morning as hadn’t been able to “go” for a a good few days now probably due to to poor diet.

We have some weekend plans involving friends and food so I really want to be extra good all week so I can be a bit more relaxed at the weekend.

Lunch will be a prawn and avocado salad and for dinner I am trying a new recipe for Korean bbq chicken. This is taking me to about 1,100 cals. I was aiming for 1,500 before but realistically eating 1,700. Will need to see how I feel on this.

Thanks for keeping me company ladies. I could not do this alone x

notevenamum1 · 20/07/2020 11:29

Oh and I also plan on making a batch of veg soup at the start of every week to have before/after dinner if I’m still hungry. This week it’ll have carrot, broccoli, cauliflower and mushrooms in it. Not sure how many cals it will be but thinking about 100 per mug max?

BluePajamas · 20/07/2020 22:44

Reading that thread has made me see things from a different viewpoint...

BluePajamas · 21/07/2020 20:11

I made batch cook soup today too! No excuses for dinner for a few days!

notevenamum1 · 21/07/2020 21:02

What did you put in it @BluePajamas ? Mines was not very delicious 😂 do you have a recipe?

BluePajamas · 21/07/2020 21:45

I just had a bag of mixed yeg in the freezer and added some onions, stock Tom purée and bit of garlic, very basic but will do the job! I'm not the best cook in the world so I find if I wing it it's much better than aiming for somethingGrin

notevenamum1 · 22/07/2020 12:52

Sounds good! It’s my day 3 of IF and I woke up STARVING! Just had lunch now and got a splitting headache. Wonder if it gets harder before it gets easier as my body was probably well stocked with food before Grin
