So today is day 1, I've just taken my before pictures had a little cry and weighed myself.

I've got 3.5 stone to lose and then some more that I'll assess when I get there.
Because I WILL get there!

Starting off with calorie counting, no choc/crisps and either a bike ride or c25k every evening after dc2 goes to sleep. And will tweak as necessary as I go.

I'm planning on posting here A LOT as dh is less than helpful and tbh is he's annoying me during lock down so I'll probably moan about him here too!

Feel free to join in, share tips, try stay sane and on track. Halo

You've reminded me to make a nice minestrone soup for this week @BluePajamas Grin

I think changing your idea of what you enjoy (or at least can resist!) is really important @Toomanycats99; for example I've been making my own beetroot brownies to give me a 'hit' of something sweet if I need it, as I was in a bad habit of snacking on chocolate. Only a piece at a time, but there could be a lot of times per day Blush

Thank you for your thoughtful AIBU @notevenamum1 and hope you are feeling a bit better now Flowers what an interesting question about it being a choice to be fat. For me it was more of a choice not to look after myself, I'm a SAHM and I just felt (feel!) that no-one noticed/ cared what I looked like, and it was easier to snack on rubbish than put the effort into meal planning, preparation etc. Now the DC are a bit older and I'm hoping to rejoin the world of work, it's hit me that I have a (fat) mountain to climb, and still no time to look after myself. It's still much easier to grab biscuits/ chocolate bars/ ready meals than eat healthily! But sadly, needs must...

notevenamum1 · 23/07/2020 13:59

Honestly the brutal responses on the AIBU I posted are keeping me going. Was hungry going to bed last night and old me would have told myself it’s unfeasible to sleep but new me decided to CHOOSE to ignore it. Nearly chewed my arm off when I woke up 😬 done no work till 12 noon when I could finally eat!

BluePajamas · 23/07/2020 15:44

I've got to admit I've been thinking about that thread and it's definitely changed my mindset and made me realise I've been far too lenient. I probably needed to hear it too as everyone I mention diet to always says "you're not fat don't be silly" errr the scales beg to differ carol.

notevenamum1 · 23/07/2020 20:14

Our friends are clearly too nice and too empowering Grin

So something very strange happened today...I went for my 10k steps walk after work today and despite being starving all day, I had a sudden burst of energy and I started RUNNING!!! Yes you read that right. Now it wasn’t very fast and it wasn’t for very long but I am still in shock 😂 who even am I?

Toomanycats99 · 23/07/2020 21:02

I have started doing the fitness classes run by the pt who did the nutrition plan. They are actually really good fun. 150 plus people in the park but all shapes sizes & fitness levels and no one cares if you sneak a sit down during the press-ups!

BluePajamas · 23/07/2020 21:06

That's great! Well done!

I went on a bike ride today and scrubbed my house so hopefully burned a few cals at the same time!

BluePajamas · 23/07/2020 21:08

That does sound fun!

I keep wanting to go to those clubbercise classes, I like the idea of being in the dark with really loud music so no one can see me or hear me panting out of breath!

RubySlippers77 · 23/07/2020 23:41

Those clubbercise classes do look awesome @BluePajamas Grin

Your fitness classes sound great @Toomanycats99, is it usually outdoors or is it a new idea? I really miss aerobics, used to go regularly pre-DC and it was very sociable as well as good health-wise. I was looking at the Fiit system (as featured on 'How to Lose Weight Well'!) as it can be done at home - helpful when DP is often out/ at work/ unhelpful in general - and isn't too expensive.

Well done on the running @notevenamum1! I'm on week 6 of C25K at the moment, would you consider doing something like that? It does start off easily and you can repeat a week if you need to, I have Smile

And yes, our friends are all clearly too nice... mind you it's hard to say to your nearest and dearest "you've put on weight and I'm worried about you" - I know this as it's the situation I'm in with my DM Sad, she desperately needs to lose weight but won't see it...

Toomanycats99 · 24/07/2020 07:18

@RubySlippers77

I found out about it just a while before lockdown and it was inside then - it has just started up outside to meet the distancing thing. I really like it outside so hope it carries on with that doe the summer.

The other thing that appealed was they run a free kids class at the same time so it gets around my single parent kids issue. That's on hold because of Covid but because it's in the park there were kids either joining in or just sitting around on the grass.

Toomanycats99 · 25/07/2020 07:13

Woohoo. Milestone reached. Under 200lbs. Next goal is to get BMI into overweight not obese- think that's only a few more lbs. .

RubySlippers77 · 26/07/2020 23:09

Well done on the milestone @Toomanycats99 👏

RubySlippers77 · 26/07/2020 23:12

I am (just about!) under 200lb, have about a stone to lose to be overweight rather than obese. On the bright(?!) side it's only 5lb till I've lost 5% of my starting weight...!

What a great idea about the kids class. I'd love parkrun to return (I think it has in other countries) to get the DC moving a bit more; they need a good two - three hours of exercise every day to stop them bouncing off the walls (it's like having puppies, but less cute!) and it means they sleep better. Bonus!

Toomanycats99 · 26/07/2020 23:13

@RubySlippers77

I went to a friends today and had 2 mini bakewells and a coffee with milk. They were nice!

However I am organised and bought more salad stuff so I can make salad for our lunch tomorrow. Have also signed up for a month unlimited pass for the exercise class so that should help.

notevenamum1 · 27/07/2020 09:50

Week 1 weigh in today...I have lost 4.5lbs!! I am delighted with this considering I got my period yesterday. I know week 1 has the most dramatic loss so I am trying not to happy dance too hard Grin I am away for a long weekend next weekend soooooo...time will tell what results that will yield.

Toomanycats99 · 28/07/2020 06:09

@notevenamum1

That's a great start!

BluePajamas · 31/07/2020 06:58

How we all getting on? Well done on any losses, I've lost a few lb this week but only because I'm poorly and not up to eating much (sadly can still sneak jelly babies so not as good as it could be!) lol

BluePajamas · 03/08/2020 07:33

Morning everyone, well I got my appetite back and didn't lose anything in the end Hmm it's lady time though so staying the same is pretty good.

My plan for this week is..I'm going to avoid carbs and either bike ride or treadmill every day, I'm telling you all so you can tell me off if I slip!

Toomanycats99 · 03/08/2020 14:11

Staying a bit static. Not been doing my daily home exercises and did have a complete off plan weekend.

RubySlippers77 · 05/08/2020 09:14

How's the carb-avoiding and exercising going @BluePajamas?

I too had an off plan weekend @Toomanycats99, we took the DC away for a weekend. Lots of walking but I've felt rubbish ever since TBH, feel like I have the flu approaching - lots of aches and pains. If I could have a day of lying on the sofa doing nothing and eating pizza then I'd feel a lot better, but sadly my twin 4 year olds are not sympathetic to the idea...

notevenamum1 · 05/08/2020 10:41

Hi all. I have had a girls weekend so was scared to weigh myself but I put on what I lost last week which I think is fine.

Plan is to have a super good week and lose 2lbs Grin

Week 1: -4.5lba
Week 2: -2lbs
Week 3: +1.5lbs

Total loss - 5lbs

How are you getting on with your no carbs @BluePajamas ?

Toomanycats99 · 06/08/2020 08:52

I'm still plodding on slowly - must admit not been doing my exercises at home though!

I'm 17lbs down and I do feel less wobbly! It's a bit dispiriting as the first 2 weeks went so well but I know it cannot continue at that pace!

Im 30.9 for BMI now so not far until I am just overweight!

BluePajamas · 06/08/2020 16:57

I've been inhaling carbs!! Arghhhh!

I'm still on antibiotics and still having the worlds longest period so I'm struggling to think thin so far this week. It's also so hot and ice cream is mandatory!

BluePajamas · 06/08/2020 17:01

That's some good losses though, well done!

@RubySlippers77 I take my hat off to you having twins! I'm drained just thinking of it! Grin. If only being tired burned calories!

RubySlippers77 · 06/08/2020 23:16

Oh gosh, sounds like we're all having a hard time of it! I'm struggling to find my dieting mojo as I'm still so tired. Vicious circle really - I'm too tired to prep/ cook properly, don't get proper nutrition, still feel tired Sad

@BluePajamas I can confirm that having twins is relentlessly bloody exhausting er, challenging! Confused

BluePajamas · 09/08/2020 15:59

We have friends that have twins a few weeks older than dd, I remember thinking at the time it's so unfair that a lot/most twins come early and need incubator etc which is horrific to go through as a parent and then when that's finally over and you can take them home it's hardly a walk in the park taking home two newborns! When are you supposed to get a break! Definitely deserve a medal, or a gin or 2!
