Blurghhhhhhh 3.5ish stone to lose.

RedScarf · 11/05/2020 08:42

So today is day 1, I've just taken my before pictures had a little cry and weighed myself.

I've got 3.5 stone to lose and then some more that I'll assess when I get there.
Because I WILL get there!

Starting off with calorie counting, no choc/crisps and either a bike ride or c25k every evening after dc2 goes to sleep. And will tweak as necessary as I go.

I'm planning on posting here A LOT as dh is less than helpful and tbh is he's annoying me during lock down so I'll probably moan about him here too!

Feel free to join in, share tips, try stay sane and on track. Halo

@Dk20

Don't be scared - you could always try run one and see? You don't have to commit to the whole thing right away.

I did it in January when I was obese and loved it, I struggled to get past week 6 and did lots of repeat runs and weeks. Ultimately I started just doing my own thing from week 6 as it was that or give up!

There are lots of apps but the original nhs/bbc ones is the best - pic attached. It has voices of celebrities you choose from who guide you through each session, telling you when to run and walk and giving you tips as well. The first session is run for 60 seconds and walk for 90 seconds, repeated 7 times. Don't be afraid to run incredibly slowly!

@Dk20 I'd really encourage you to download the app above and give it a go. I always think that no matter how bad I find it, how slow I am or if I have to repeat runs, I'm making more progress than I would if I was sat on the sofa!

@RubySlippers77 I also had to take DS with me on run 2 and it was a nightmare. I'm going to try to squeeze in w1r3 tomorrow during my lunch break when he's at school.

I did a beginners fitness blender workout this evening which was actually ok. I'm hoping to do it every other day for the next few weeks and then maybe move onto something more challenging.

I have gained a pound back so far, so I'm going to be very strict next week.

Dk20 · 01/06/2020 07:10

Thanks @myfuckingfreezer and @InTheNorth123 , I just looked for that app on play store and couldn't see it. I typed in 'one you couch to 5k' in the search bar. I can see the other ones by one you. Would you have any idea if I need to change my search words or something?

I weighed this morning and lost 2 pounds in the week. Have about 3 stone left to go now 😱

RedScarf · 01/06/2020 07:49

I'm impressed with taking dc on a run!

It's the first of JUNE!! How did that happen? Weighed in this morning and the skipping dinner and scoffing later is not scale friendly (surprise!)

Ive written 'stop eating chocolate' all over the kitchen and told dh I'm doing at least 2 long bike rides a week and circled days on the planner so there really is no excuse.

@Dk20 just search couch 2 5k. It looks like this.

Otherwise google bbc couch to 5k and follow the links from there

RubySlippers77 · 02/06/2020 23:30

That's the one I use too @myfuckingfreezer (the bottom one in your photo) - I listen to Sarah Millican Smile

Did w2r2 today without the DC as they were at school. Yippee! Have to say DS1 is ok running although he does get puffed out as he can't/ won't stop talking Grin

@RedScarf I am not sure how we've got to summer and I'm STILL fat... no idea how that happened Hmm I ate dinner late too today and now have stomachache. No surprise there! Well done on your 'no chocolate' notes, I may fall down on that one as AF due tomorrow, but I did at least lose 1lb this week which I was pleased with! Just 46lb to go now...

lifesbetteraftertea · 04/06/2020 21:51

Hi all, haven't checked in in a while but I'm still going strong. Decided to give dry June a try to see if that helps, not that I drink a huge amount but it causes me to nibble on huge packets of crisps. How's everyone getting on?

hopeidontforgetthisusername · 05/06/2020 21:19

Well done everyone on your losses - is there room for another? I have a good 3 stone to lose and started a week ago losing 2lb the first week.

Dk20 · 06/06/2020 09:30

Thanks for the tip on the c25k app, I have it downloaded and will try to start this weekend.
I feel I have had a few too many treats this week, but still weighed the same today as I did on Monday so will take it as a plus if I get to Monday without being up.

Hi @hopeidontforgetthisusername and welcome, well done on your loss in your first week

RubySlippers77 · 07/06/2020 23:30

Did you manage to do your first run @Dk20? I did w3 r1. It wasn't too bad (helps that the weather is cooler) but DS1 struggled with the longer runs. He's only 4 and it doesn't help that he also talks constantly Confused

I really like that app - I listen to Sarah Millican Smile

Well done on your weight loss @hopeidontforgetthisusername, are you following any particular plan?

And how is dry June going @lifesbetteraftertea?!

lifesbetteraftertea · 08/06/2020 08:54

Not so well @RubySlippers77 already broke it on Saturday. And wasn't worth it one bit, will restart! Am getting slightly sick of the constant inputting into mfp but at the same time am about 10/11 lbs down in four weeks so it is working, I'm exercising more than I have in years and some of my clothes aren't digging in as much as usual, so I have to stick it out! Anyone any ideas for this week? I'm going to try and up my water again.

RubySlippers77 · 08/06/2020 09:12

I had a glass of prosecco on Saturday @lifesbetteraftertea... thought I'd enjoy it much more than I actually did Hmm I really like the idea of a glass of something, but generally get fed up after a few sips. Oh how my life has changed post-DC, I just couldn't cope with a hangover any more...

I'm not weighing at the moment (AF time!) but going to be more organised this week and plan our meals better. We have plenty of food but still I end up throwing something together or rushing it, mainly due to having small DC constantly whining for attention and a lazy DP who doesn't want to look after them

lifesbetteraftertea · 08/06/2020 09:19

@RubySlippers77 it's definitely not worth weighing around AF time, it adds on a lot. I need to stop weighing myself so frequently in general. How much do you want to lose?

Jeremyironsnothing · 08/06/2020 09:31

I've lost about a stone and a half since lockdown began, and have another two stones to go.
I'm in the zone and eat about 1000 calories per day, but then I tend to not worry too much at the weekends, and have what I want within reason. This works for me, as I have the weekend indulgences to look forward to.

Everyday nearly I do the 7 minute workouts by Lucy wyndham on you tube. There are loads of different ones and for 7 minutes they don't feel too onerous. I swear they've helped tone me up because I wasn't this size, at this weight a few years ago. I was bigger.

RubySlippers77 · 08/06/2020 23:20

@lifesbetteraftertea I have 3 stone to lose. Pre DC I would never have dreamed I'd ever get to this weight, let alone be stuck at it Sad

I walk a lot - always over 10K daily - but don't think I do enough high impact work and eat too much cake

RedScarf · 09/06/2020 08:07

-2! Wooo! First time since I started this damn thread!

How is everyone?

OP posts:
RubySlippers77 · 09/06/2020 23:19

Well done @RedScarf 👏

I am exercising loads but eating too much chocolate - AF time - sigh!

RedScarf · 22/06/2020 19:59

How are we all getting on?

I've weighed myself today and I've gained since I last posted... that means from 11th may to 21st of June I've lost the grand total of.......0.02lb!!! Wtf is wrong with meBlushHmmAngryConfused

I caught myself in a reflection in a photo today and I'm just a big ball of bloat..quite tempted to print it out and stick it all over the kitchen!

OP posts:
RedScarf · 23/06/2020 06:50

I've woken up this morning feeling less bloated already, had soup for dinner and NO choc the entire day Halo

OP posts:
Twilbury · 23/06/2020 06:57

I feel your pain!
I started a very similar thread to this a few weeks ago and I have lost sod all.
Why do we keep doing it to ourselves?
I know if I eat well and exercise I feel better so why the hell do I keep eating badly and going on half arsed walks?

Must try harder !!

TitsalinaBumSquash · 23/06/2020 07:16

I'd love to join you. I'm on a couple of WL groups on here but one more can't hurt.

I'm using MFP and sticking to 1200 cals, I'm only 5ft so the 3.5 stone I have to lose really shows! I have lost 7lbs in 2 weeks though so I'm doing well.
I weight everyday which is a hangover from when I did team RH (and lost nothing!)
I have one of those infuriating DHs that in 2 weeks has lost a stone and you can really tell. Hmm

I need to do this as I have heart disease, my lovely Mum died during the surgery to fix it and she was very overweight, stressed and generally not great at taking care of herself so I don't want that to be me when the time comes.

I consoled myself in lockdown with all my childhood favourite sweets (fruit salads and blackjacks) and I piled on a stone on top of what I already needed to lose.

I'm also finally having my laser eye surgery next month! Years in the process followed by possibly moving to a new house.

New start for a new healthier me.

RedScarf · 23/06/2020 14:40

Wow that's a great loss @TitsalinaBumSquash my dh is the same, he just looks at a salad and has lost a lb. it's infuriating!

I was planning on a daily bike ride as work is quiet this week..but it's SO HOT! We've put the pool up and they've had a ice cream from the ice cream van (I didn't though, I didn't even do the "let me lick the melty bits so you don't get mucky" so that's a win for me.

OP posts:
RedScarf · 23/06/2020 14:46

@Twilbury I know exactly what you mean, with me it's a emotional thing, I feel crap so I comfort eat, then I feel crap again... and so on!

I've tried to look at chocolate, cakes whatever as just another food and not a treat, it's not something I earned it's simply something I bought from the shop same as a cucumber or potato

OP posts:
RubySlippers77 · 23/06/2020 23:31

My DP is very overweight and also desperately wants to lose weight... however he will not have it that his regular habit of drinking two bottles of wine/ half a bottle of spirits with Coke/ lots of cider isn't helping Hmm

I'm the same as you @RedScarf, vicious circle of feeling crap and then eating more to console myself! I just cannot find it in myself to make the first step and start the healthy eating plan, because it would mean giving up Nutella Blush perhaps hypnotism would help?!

Welcome @Twilbury and @TitsalinaBumSquash! Titsalina, my DM is also dangerously overweight and I'm terrified of ending up the same way; she had joint problems so couldn't exercise, piled on weight, made the joint problems worse and so on... she's only early 70s and is pretty much housebound without (much) assistance. Good luck with your laser eye surgery too - I've considered it many times but never found the money or been brave enough!

Twilbury · 24/06/2020 07:20

@RedScarf I am definitely an emotional eater which is hard. I worked out today that I have about 10 weeks before school starts (hopefully) in september and I would love to be a bit lighter by then. I am going into work one or two days a week but dont see too many people.
I have downloaded the couch to 5k app but I feel a dick going out and giving it a go Blush
