Afternoon all. Thank you for all the condolences for DH's step mum. It was quite sudden and unexpected, she was 92, failing healthwise for some time and in a care home. Lovely lady, a real giggler and very good fun - she had a great and interesting life and was loved by everyone. I guess it was just her time and she just ran out of steam. . I'll always remember her laughing her head off with a glass of wine in her hand and enjoying whoever's company she was in bless her. Plodding on here and pleased to say that I did indeed avoid the chips yesterday @CricketMum84. Dessert was a different matter though - a slice of cake PLUS a slice of toffee and pecan roulade was consumed. It was delicious but STS on the scales this morning. I'm expecting an increase tomorrow though on account of yesterday's transgressions.
More roast pork for lunch today with a small side salad. Not sure what I'll be having for dinner tonight. Bacon and egg I think. @Tryingtwo please don't give up! I'm following you and using you in my head as a source of inspiration since we are both roughly the same weight wise [no pressure you understand.....] I'm trying desperately to get in to the 11's - that is my goal for May. Everything crossed here but it isn't going to happen if I keep misbehaving is it?Maintaining is a whole other subject that I've been tentatively exploring lately. I think I'm going to be here for quite some time yet.
@grumpyorange a 3lbs loss in a week is phenomenal. I've just looked back in my diary and I've only managed to lose that amount or more on 3 of the 20 weeks that I've now been dieting and 2 of those were right at the beginning. You're doing really great.
Well done everybody else who's staying on the wagon and cracking on with this. Half way through May already!

bestlifetime · 15/05/2020 17:57

Only lost 1 lb this week.. although my scales are digital and say 10. 108 so basically I've barley lost 1 lb. would you round up or down?

Only cheats this week have been one sorren bar ( or that a sugary health food?) and one homemade cookie. I don't drink so no alcohol, so a bit disappointing. Just got to not go off the rails.

Hello is it too late to join? Smile

MonicaBingaling · 15/05/2020 19:57

I’ve just joined mumsnet, to chat and make friends and also to talk to others as I’m trying to lose weight.

I downloaded the app but for some reason I can’t navigate to different pages of a forum post? So I am using the web option. Anyways hi everyone 👋 hope you are all wellxxx

SneakersandSocks · 15/05/2020 21:43

Evening all,
Hope you all enjoy the weekend ahead.

@Ticklemeelmo Well done on the 4lb loss, that’s great. Staying the same weight is better then the scales going up, so you are doing well!

I didn’t have a very good day today, food wise. Skipped tea as was busy but then just had a cherry crumble with ice cream. I’ve not had sugar in over a week and you can really taste it when you stop eating it. It tasted great though!

I always fill my water bottle up and make sure it’s always near by, that way I remember to drink it, otherwise I forget/get side tracked.
It really helps though, I feel less bloated.

Onceuponatimethen · 15/05/2020 23:16

@MonicaBingaling the more the merrier! This is a great thread and hope it is as helpful to to you as it has been to me and my dp who is also dieting

Onceuponatimethen · 15/05/2020 23:20

@SneakersandSocks I am with you on the not great day for food

I started off well with fruit for breakfast and then low cal veg soup with a salad for lunch.

But then Youngest dd had quite a scary fall In the garden and for a few minutes I thought it might need A&E because it looked like she’d banged her head from a height Shock and then I ate two huge chocolate bars I’ve been keeping for dds as lockdown treats

Luckily dd is absolutely fine and it turned out dp saw her fall and she banged her side which is going to be bruised tomorrow and while she was saying it was her head that was a very minor bump as she rolled over at the end of the fall. Not fun!!! Good job I’m not drinking this month or I would have been on the gin over it

PlanetSlattern · 16/05/2020 08:19

Welcome, @MonicaBingaling!

@Onceuponatimethen that sounds terrifying. How is your dd today? I actually think booze is worse than chocolate (it is for me, anyway) as if I'm hungover the next day is always more difficult too. Hope you manage to keep on track today.

@trytryandtryagain and @SconNotScone it's strange, isn't it, how it all hangs on your mindset. Last week I was really struggling too. But you can definitely pull it back – my advice (not that I'm the expert...) would be to go easy on yourself. Maybe try to stick to healthy foods over the weekend, but without punishing yourself with deprivation. Enough to sustain you, but without treats... then you'd be in a much better place on Monday. Just a thought.

I have lost 4lbs so am now just under 10st13. I'm pleased, although it's not as great as it sounds since I've been losing and gaining the same half-stone for the last two years. If I can get below 10st6 (and more importantly, STAY there) that will be a huge win. Still, every journey starts with a single step etc etc.

Birthday weekend so will certainly indulge in a few glasses of something cold AND a slice of chocolate cake. The trick will be not to go careering off the rails...

Onceuponatimethen · 16/05/2020 08:59

@PlanetSlattern she is ok today, thank you! Amazing how often they bounce back when we’ve gone through so much worry!

Yes true I’m glad not to have a hangover!

I do get what you mean about that half stone. I think that’s why being on here is so good because it makes me feel like it’s a proper target rather than something optional which I could dip out of. Dp in particular had a few false starts but since December he has really consistently decided to lose the significant weight. I’m sure you can do it!

I said this on earlier threads, but if anyone is feeling the need for a bit of inspiration I liked Prof Roy Taylor’s book life without diabetes. This is a fascinating book about how he’s reversed diabetes in his patients by weight loss. Very relevant to dp and me because while we aren’t actually diabetic we both have a lot of family with diabetes so we are high risk to develop it. The book is generally fascinating about the positive health impacts of losing 15 kg or 10% of your weight, depending on personal circumstances.

Trytryandtryagain · 16/05/2020 10:33

Have a great birthday weekend @PlanetSlattern!! Cake definitely in order.

I just weighed in. Teeny weeny loss, just shy of 0.5lb! Its not a gain so i will take it. I have 10 days before I need to have my medical and i think losing just over 1kg is doable in that time frame... its about 2.5lbs so fingers crossed!! Our neighbour has invited us for a socially distant drink in the garden, luckily it is just a quick 1hr catch up 2 meters apart...i haven't had a glass of wine in ages. I always feel pressured into having a glass otherwise everyone assumes you are pregnant!

Start 83kg
Last week 74.2kg
This week 74kg
Target 72.85kg

Onceuponatimethen · 16/05/2020 10:50

@PlanetSlattern happy birthday!! Wine Missed that!

@Trytryandtryagain well done on your loss! A loss is still a loss Star

JessJonesJumps · 16/05/2020 11:39

@PlanetSlattern happy birthday! 🎉
@onceuponatimethen I'm glad DD is ok.
I'm down 1.6lbs this morning which seems like a fluke. Oddly I have been eating less since our supermarket delivery arrived. It's as though when we have less food, I crave everything but when food is actually available, I relax slightly Grin
No exercise the last two days as my hip has been aching. I might try to squeeze some yoga in today.
Happy weekend everyone! Oh, I almost forgot, welcome @MonicaBingaling !

MonicaBingaling · 16/05/2020 12:08

Thanks @Onceuponatimethen @JessJonesJumps and happy birthday @PlanetSlattern ! 🎉

Feeling a little down today as had my weekly weigh in this morning and I only lost 1 lb where as the last 3 weeks has been 2-3lb per week. 😔

I guess it always comes off fast at first! Still, I’m determined to not let it ruin my weekend and at least it’s still a loss!

TheStirrer · 16/05/2020 13:30

Afternoon all! Sun is sort of out so post lunch walk beckons in my bid to get my 10,000 steps in today before settling down to Eurovision tonight with a big glass of wine!

Welcome @MonicaBingaling - well done on your loss. 1lb is great - it all adds up.

There are some spectacular losses here since the start of the month and for goose that haven’t it’s great that you still post do we can encourage each other as it’s a bumpy road.

Weigh in day here - 2lbs off for me - helped as the rest of the family scoffed the rest of my birthday brownie before I got a look in Grin

JessJonesJumps · 17/05/2020 00:22

@MonicaBingaling a pound is great. Remember to take your measurements too as sometimes you'll lose inches rather than weight.

Well, I didn't manage yoga after all. I had to work this morning and I've developed an incredibly annoying, itchy rash on my hand.

@Onceuponatimethen I’m glad your dd is ok, I hope the bump had gone down abit. I’d be terrified too.
I cried the first time my dd bumped her head on the carpet learning to crawl! Then I realised I can’t do that everytime she hurts herself as she will pick up on it.

Yesterday was a better day food wise.
That’s the beauty of this, you can have a bad day but the next day , you can eat better or take a longer walk abs you feel better.

B - Marmite on brown toast, yogurt
L - tomato soup
T - fish fillet with sweet potato fries and a big salad

Snacks - banana, apple, some grapes.

recklessgran · 17/05/2020 09:45

Morning all and welcome @MonicaBingaling. I'm sure you will feel supported here. I've lost over 2 stone since I joined this thread and definitely wouldn't have been able to do it without @CricketMum84 and all her mates!
Today is DD3's birthday.[ 4 of my 5 have their birthdays within 5 weeks of each other.] We are going to meet up but obviously with social distancing. I'm so excited as I haven't seen her for over 3 months. Not sure what I'll be doing about food today but I will try hard not to fall off the wagon although I might have a glass of wine to celebrate having seen DD3.
[I've reported goldcherry21's spam post by the way.]
Have a good day all.

cricketmum84 · 17/05/2020 11:26

Happy weekend all!

I'm sat in the car supervising while littlest DD has a socially distanced meet up with her best friend. It's the first time she has seen her in 9 weeks and they have really missed each other.

3lbs down for the month so far, hoping to meet the 7lb target for the first time in months! OMAD again today, just a baked sweet potato with cottage cheese and salad. I have peaches and nectarines for snacks tonight if needed! Did have takeaway last night but I just picked 2 vegetarian starters and have about half of each.

Welcome @MonicaBingaling :)

Love seeing all these losses coming in!! Amazing work in the current situation!

Happy birthday @PlanetSlattern and @recklessgran DD3. Enjoy seeing the family!!

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend!

Afternoon all, I'm reading daily but not always posting. I'm really tired atm despite a lot of sleep and lots of things are a real effort.

Today's meals:
B - 2xweetabix/milk
L - Chicken and Avocado salad wrap
D- Carbonara.
1000kcals

Hope you are all well. Well done on all the losses. 👍🏻

MonicaBingaling · 17/05/2020 18:35

Thanks for the welcomes @cricketmum84 and @recklessgran

@cricketmum84 hope dd had a lovely time with her friend ❤️

I’ve had a relaxed weekend tbh! I’m having cheese burgers tonight and last night a big portion of pasta. Been healthy for a solid 3 weeks and only lost a pound last week. Anyway I’ve read upping calories and having a cheat day can actually help lose more weight so I thought I’d give it a go lol

grumpyorange · 17/05/2020 20:17

So annoyed with myself today!

I had such good food intentions but it came out absolutely disgusting so had to have the only other thing in until my shop tomorrow which was a pizza!

I've done so well till this point

Losingitihope · 17/05/2020 20:43

Checking in, lost 2.5 pounds this week. Ate a bit more today than I have been so probably be a no move on the scale tomo at best. I am feeling quite motivated to do this though!

recklessgran · 18/05/2020 07:52

Morning all. Today is my weigh day.
Last week 12st 3.75lbs
Today 12st 1.75lbs
So that's a 2lb loss this week and more than makes up for last week's gain. I'm 4.25lbs down so far for May. Really hoping I will make this month's goal of 7lbs and finally get into the 11's.
Had a lovely day yesterday seeing DD3 on her birthday. We sat out in the garden 2 metres apart on separate tables and spent a couple of hours catching up. She was very complimentary about my weight loss so that made me feel really good. I wore one of the new outfits from the smaller wardrobe that I've been gathering for the end of lockdown. For now, I'm still wearing my old baggy stuff as it seems a bit daft to be dressed in all new clothes when we can't go out.
Meal plan for today is egg and cress mayo on iceberg lettuce for lunch and sausages with runner beans and broccoli for dinner tonight.
Beautiful sunshine here so will be sitting outside with a coffee in a minute. Hope everybody has a good day.

WhatALearningCurve · 18/05/2020 08:14

Morning!

Sorry for being quiet. The numbers on the scare were behaving far too well and I was scared to jinx it!

11 stone 2..2 this morning! That's a loss of 5lbs this week. I genuinely can't believe it.

I assume my losses will start to slow now but I'd love to get 2lb this week so that I've lost a stone since the 20th April when I restarted this battle!

Obviously the whole corona situation is horrid, and I'm not enjoying that. But the motivation I have lockdown just isn't going to happen once real life gets in the way. Every calculator I look at says it's possible for me to be near my goal of under 10stone by the 1st August if I carry on the way I'm going, so for purely selfish reasons, I hope restrictions do continue until then. It's never felt like an achievable target but suddenly it really does!

Congrats on everyone for their losses. @grumpyorange don't be disheartened, I'm learning to look at calories over the week as a while, not just day by day. Yes a heavy food day might show on the scales in a day or 2, but if you adjust following days accordingly it shouldn't really affect anything
