Lockdown lose a stone! That tricky last stone!

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 18/04/2020 11:38

Hello,
So I got back on the scales today and I was 9 stone 12.5.

The Dukan diet calculator says I can be 8 stone 10 by June 20.
Can this be true? Let us try it out!!

Based on my exhaustive and extensive diet 'research' from the last 27 out of 41 years of my life and weight ranging between 8 stone and 12.7 stone I am going to do the following:

  1. Daily 'change my mindset' reading in the morning
  2. Meal plan for the week but every morning commit to what I am going to eat for the day.
  3. Follow a low carb diet based on Dukan when my book arrives and Louise Parker recipes because I love her.
  4. Tuesdays and Thursdays are 16/8 days.
  5. Beachbody on demand - Morning meltdown 100 workouts.

I have lipoedema and I am not 100% sure my thyroid works.
I haven't got any lower than 9 stone 10 in the last two years.

I feel well and might as well use this lockdown time to focus on balancing the blood sugar and my insulin response! Weight loss should be the result.

Anyone else want to join in and lose a stone over the next couple of months?

Hello Everyone. Yay! 10.5 3/4 this morning which is 3 pounds off since last Saturday, and the lightest I've been since this time last year. (Two holidays in 2019 did a lot of damage. No chance of that at the moment 😬😬).

Well done @myohmywhatawonderfulday, that's brilliant, you have stuck with it and you must be so pleased. The Dukan diet really works! It's the only thing that has ever really worked for me, and I think it's because it is heavily protein-based, restrictive, quite boring and produces quick results, which are very motivating.

Good luck with weigh-ins Everyone!

yukka · 09/05/2020 15:33

Ladies you are all awesome, what amazing results! Well done!!

I'm doing ok here, another pound off despite 2 treat nights (wedding anniversary) so 10.8.

I found some old size 10 shorts this morning and they fit (bloody just!) , except I'm far too wobbly on top to wear them so they are another goal. Im so determined to the point I might post a photo of now, and then in a month. I feel like it needs to be seen to be owned psychologically. Or maybe the lack of carbs has got to my brain!!

I also managed to get oat bran at Holland and Barrett's and some new flavour protein shake too, getting delivered Monday.

Now, stupid question. Do you think if you exercise you just generally burn fat, or to burn top body fat I should do more top body exercise?

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 09/05/2020 19:03

Well done @TeaRose29 that is so awesome!! Woop Woop!

And @Yukka - your weight is coming off consistently and it is coming off. Woop Woop! And more will come off because you are doing all the right things. Definately take photos. They are so motivating x

So about exercise, most things I have read is that you can't make weight come off where you want because it comes off in sheets. In reality though I think if you are doing arm exercises etc then you are activating the muscles in that area and there feels like there is a reason why body builders modify their workouts depending on where they need the extra burn. I would try it and see what happens.

I'm not losing weight this week as annoyingly it's that time of the month and I'm probably retaining about 10 litres of water. Blush

BUT when I've jumped on the scales a couple (ok 4 times!) of times this week I'm continuously losing.
It's still not as much as I'd like on a weekly basis but I know the calorie deficit of 1k a day is working plus lots of exercise every day.

Well done to all on their weight losses - inspiring stuff! X

beautyqueenfrompluto · 10/05/2020 01:03

Well done everyone! You guys are helping to keep me motivated.
My weekends are always my problem (it 1am and I'm still up!)! But so far I've been pretty controlled.
I have three children and I lost weight v easily after 1 and 2 but no. 3 is 18 months and I'm a stone heavier now than when I got pregnant with him. I breastfed him for a year and I think I convinced myself I could eat what I wanted....I really couldn't!
But I have so many reasons to drop this stone and seeing you all lose weight-even 1lb per week is very very motivating!

OhCobblers · 10/05/2020 08:24

Continuously maintaining is what I meant to say!

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 10/05/2020 10:20

Hope everyone has a good day!
I've done Joe Wicks this morning and planning on going for a jog later. I'm feeling hungry though!
I'm going to have a big-ish lunch and then a light dinner. Would love to see a change on the scales by Friday!

yukka · 11/05/2020 20:26

Hope the jog went well @beautyqueenfrompluto i also swear that literally the day I stopped breastfeeding 8 pounds turned up out of nowhere 😂😂🙈

@myohmywhatawonderfulday you've achieved so much already, and inspired many if us too! 16 lbs would be unreal in just 8 weeks.

My lovely package arrived today, new shakes and the oat bran - so I'm busy planning my food week. Really want 2 pounds this week.

6 mile walk today with the pram, in the wind. Was a lot of effort! Aiming for a 30 min run followed straight by 20 min hiit tomo am before dh goes to work.

Hope you all had a good day!

OhCobblers · 11/05/2020 20:56

Do you guys generally eat your "exercise" calories?

I'm finding that though I'm restricting myself to 1000 calories a day between 1-7pm, that I'm not going over that as I'm burning off anything between 200-400 a day.

So theoretically today though I've eaten 1400 calories I ran nearly 4 miles and my app logged that as 408 calories so I've still only eaten 1008 calories??
Or should I ignore the exercise calories and consume 1k only??

Also how the hell do i work out what the joe wicks workout burns off??! Grin
Would be grateful for any tips!

yukka · 11/05/2020 21:37

@OhCobblers no I'm not eating them, in fact I'm still trying to burn a further 3500 calories a week but that is super tough.

3500 calories is one pound. My normal calorie intake is around 1700 so my planner drops me to 1200 calories = 3500 saving = 1 pound loss.

To loose 2 pounds then I need to find another 3500 calories so I exercise and drop any further calories where I can. But I am having treat nights so I consume more there.

A 6 mile fast walk in 90 mins burns 500 calories, a 30 min average pace run is about 300.

I use the my fitness pal app to track everything, it's great. I think joe wicks is like a 30 min hiit class which incomes up as 185 calories.

Maybe try dropping the calories again for a week or 2 and see what happens?

yukka · 11/05/2020 21:41

Though I should add my fitness pal doesn't like it when your net calories are less than 1000 a day - it won't calculate where your weight could be in a few weeks - which is really motivational. But you can track net calories so you can see where and when you can squeeze a little more.

OhCobblers · 11/05/2020 21:43

Thanks @yukka I think you're right and I need to stick to 1000 a day, as I'm going for a 2lb per week loss, and ignore exercise calories.

Map my Run logs my runs, walks and dog walks so think it's quite accurate I always underestimate the online workout calories just to be safe! Thank you!

Foreverlexicon · 12/05/2020 08:44

Apologies for going AWOL.
My partner’s mum passed away towards the end of last week and life has just been ultra stressful.
I lost my appetite rather than comfort ate but gave myself a proverbial kick up the bum yesterday as I have a history of eating disorders so that’s not the way to go.
On the plus side, I now only have 9.5lb to go until my goal although I hope to lose a little more to give me some leeway.
Plan to go for a run, ride the horse and do a food shop today.

beautyqueenfrompluto · 12/05/2020 11:31

I'm sorry to hear that forever.

In theory I am not eating my exercise calories either, but if I'm honest, at weekends I am not logging my calories properly so I am sure I am eating into some of them. That is my challenge this weekend-to be stricter. I'm great during the week but really let loose at the weekend and I know it is holding me back!

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 12/05/2020 17:28

I am sorry too to hear about your loss x

A late check in today because I was working. I work on a Tuesday and so I have to get up and on to get my hours in. I am so moody when I am working I do feel for my poor family.

I am not eating my exercise calories. I have done fine today but am definitely not drinking enough water.

Hope you are all well this Tuesday and its good see all your updates xx

Hello everyone,

Day 26 Commitments

Motivation: Shift your paradigm to see food as neutral. Food is fuel. Food is to be enjoyed and not cause guilt. When you eat something with less nutrition, be kind to yourself and move on.

Meals:
B- Fast
L - Oatbran galette, calamari and prawns
D- Omelette and smoked salmon
S - Vanilla yogurt

Movement: Walk and 26/100 morning meltdown workout - cardio

Vanilla Skyr is amazing - low calories, low carb and high protein
When you are in desperate need of something new to eat - M&S has some great prawns, calamari etc which can help mix it all up.
Doing my main shop in Aldi has halved my bill and makes going to M&S means treats!!

Have a good day - you can do this!

Have a good day everyone.

@Foreverlexicon, so sorry for your loss. It sounds like you are doing all the right things to keep yourself together at this very difficult time. xx

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 13/05/2020 18:48

I am sooooooooo hungry. I just want to eat something sweet..................any calorie free sweet ideas.................help me my will power is fading..............................

Hello, I’m starting Dukan tomorrow... hoping to join you here. I’ve a lot to lose :(

yukka · 13/05/2020 20:29

@Foreverlexicon sorry to hear of your loss, it's really hard to deal with in the current climate x

@myohmywhatawonderfulday aarrggghhh don't give in! Erm no calorie sweet things I'm not sure exist. Could you do a galette and add cocoa powder? Or get some low calorie hot chocolate - that has saved me a few times and about 34 calories a mug I think.

Doing ok here, did hiit and yoga today and I actually feel so much stronger. Sticking with the protein shakes, galette and main meal for the foreseeable future.

Managed a 30 min run yesterday and ordered a new Garmin vivosport to track me so hopefully achieve the non scales goal of 5k for next week.

See what the scales say on Saturday (again!)

@FuntimeFranky welcome to the group!

beautyqueenfrompluto · 13/05/2020 21:25

Just checking in!
I have those hungry moments too. Think about the end goal!
