Lockdown lose a stone! That tricky last stone!

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 18/04/2020 11:38

Hello,
So I got back on the scales today and I was 9 stone 12.5.

The Dukan diet calculator says I can be 8 stone 10 by June 20.
Can this be true? Let us try it out!!

Based on my exhaustive and extensive diet 'research' from the last 27 out of 41 years of my life and weight ranging between 8 stone and 12.7 stone I am going to do the following:

  1. Daily 'change my mindset' reading in the morning
  2. Meal plan for the week but every morning commit to what I am going to eat for the day.
  3. Follow a low carb diet based on Dukan when my book arrives and Louise Parker recipes because I love her.
  4. Tuesdays and Thursdays are 16/8 days.
  5. Beachbody on demand - Morning meltdown 100 workouts.

I have lipoedema and I am not 100% sure my thyroid works.
I haven't got any lower than 9 stone 10 in the last two years.

I feel well and might as well use this lockdown time to focus on balancing the blood sugar and my insulin response! Weight loss should be the result.

Anyone else want to join in and lose a stone over the next couple of months?

Weighed myself this morning and 1lb off since last week. Not great but at least it's the right direction. Went out for a run yesterday and about to do a zoom hiit class so starting the week well. Good luck everyone for a new week.

beautyqueenfrompluto · 04/05/2020 18:57

My weekend was ok but feel unmotivated today. I'm finding balancing work, lockdown, kids etc. challenging. I'm going to resist though! I've hours worth of work to catch up on now so it'll be a challenge not to reach for snacks...but I won't!

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 04/05/2020 19:17

Hi Nyancat and beautyqueenfrompluto - we can do this! Motivation wains but consistency is the wave that will get us there! Umm sorry sometimes these icky things just flow from me!! Maybe I am trying to convince myself!!

Hope your zoom hiit class makes you sweat!

I lost 2lb last week (8lb total) which I'm really happy with but why is it so easy to gain and so difficult to lose? My shape is changing, I've lost 3 inches from my waist now which is a great motivator!
I have to use MFP because I like pressing the 'complete diary' button so it can tell me where I'll be in 5 weeks.
Sorry for everyone who's struggling with life at the moment. This must be the worst time to try and diet but we've got this. We'll be unrecognisable when we next see people 😁

beautyqueenfrompluto · 04/05/2020 22:28

So I'm still working in the kitchen and I did indulge. It could have been worse though. Tomorrow I am back on it. I will not go backwards! I will decide what to eat in the morning and will also go for a run.
I love all the inspirational talk!

TeaRose29 · 05/05/2020 12:21

Hello Everyone, I'm back! I've just caught up with the thread, and well done to you all for sticking with it and for your losses so far.

I've had some major distractions in the last week, but all good now and back on track. Some chocolate was consumed, plus a Chinese which was divine and worth the calories! On the scales I've stayed the same (quite pleased 😬😬) but I've done an hour's walk and half an hour of shred/weights with my daughter every day, so I feel more toned up. Have managed to swerve alcohol for a week in spite of some testing moments, plus DH pouring himself a couple of large glasses of wine every night! 😡😡. We had a Slimming World Zoom this morning - our consultant is fantastic so this was very uplifting and motivating, and it was great to see some familiar faces.

I must say that my skin is looking good and my eyelashes seem to have got longer and stronger - must be all the protein!

Today:
B = 0% Greek yogurt, 12g almonds, vanilla essence, SF orange jelly
L - salmon, rocket
D - probably chicken soup made from a chicken breast, stock cube and veggies

Have a great day everyone. @Foreverlexicon I am thinking of you.xx

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 05/05/2020 13:25

Hello everyone! So good to 'read' you! I want to say see you but you know what I mean!!

It's Tuesday and I can't say I feel so motivated today. Dr Dukan explains that the first week (or two in my case) you lose a lot of water and then it comes back. I can see it in my face. I had my lovely young face back and now I am looking a bit round again.

Day 18 Commitments

Motivation: Life will throw you curve balls. Keep as consistent as possible. Focus on what you can do not what you can't.

Meals: B Fast
Lunch: Eggs and Bacon
Dinner: Oatbran Gallette (don't judge me) hamburger

Movement: Workout 18/100 - Fight club

Have great days. I am so looking forward to lunch! Which is now!

I've a very just day ahead with work (and kids) so I won't have to think about food hopefully!
Have a good day everyone!

No oat bran or eggs in the supermarket :(

I'll ask dh to try somewhere else tomo

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 06/05/2020 21:46

Oatbran is the low carbers dream. I got mine in Waitrose x

OP posts:
beautyqueenfrompluto · 06/05/2020 22:04

I couldn't get eggs in the supermarket either but have since found them in our local corner shop and the post office (which is in a little shop). They are out there!
I've had a good day. I went for a 6k run which was great. I have always found that exercise doesn't do too much for my weight-for me it's all about food! But it does make me feel better and then I'm more motivated.

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 07/05/2020 08:13

A 6K run is so cool. I know that great feeling from exercise.

So, I am on day 20 already.
Here is the commitments for today:

Motivation: Write down three things that you are going to do today that will help you reach your bigger goal.

(Drink 1 litre by 12pm and another litre of water by 4pm, exercise, take my cod liver suppliment).

Meals
B - fast (but I don't know if I can do it - I am so hungry)
L: Bacon medallions and scrambled egg
D: Chicken miso soup
S: Fat free yog, sf jelly

Movement: Morning meltdown workout - yoga flow

Saturday is coming and I am feeling a bit nervous about it?!

Have a good day today! You can do it - we can lose this last stone!!

OP posts:
beautyqueenfrompluto · 07/05/2020 08:51

Good luck today! Once again, thanks for the daily motivation!
I weighed today (usually it is Fri but this week Thurs as it's the end of the working week). I've stayed the same. That's 3 weeks in a row now. It's a bit frustrating but I'm holding out hope that when it starts to come off again it will come off in chunks! I guess it's true that the last stone is the hardest to shift.
I've put on a summer dress today and it fits nicely, but it is slightly tight around my middle-that is my problem area now, it never used to be!

yukka · 07/05/2020 11:11

@beautyqueenfrompluto fantastic well done in the run. Exercise makes me feel better too regardless of impact.

My middle area is the problem too! But - I can see difference and I wish I'd taken photos as I think there's s better change the scales show. Clothing is a good measure though.

I'm pulling it all in today and tomo for Saturdays weigh in! Shakes for lunch and breakfast, healthy snacks and 400 calorie dinners 🙈🙈🙈

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 07/05/2020 15:55

I have definately found that it in the past that I have had weeks of nothing and then suddenly a lot comes off.

Yukka, well done...I managed to stick to fasting breakfast. Here is fingers crossed for Saturday for both of us!!

OP posts:
beautyqueenfrompluto · 08/05/2020 09:09

Keep going today everyone. The sunshine makes it easier I think-although we'll have a BBQ this evening. But I don't have to do over the top on the BBQ
Imagine how good we'll all feel in 3-4 weeks if we keep this up and are consistent!

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 08/05/2020 10:11

Yes in 3 or 4 weeks we are going to look completely different to when we started. I am already getting my oblique muscles back on show at in the right light, at the right angle!

So day 21 commitments

Motivation: Q: How do you feel when you exercise? Focus on the post -work out feeling and commit it to memory.

Meals:
B: Oatbran porridge, with greek yogurt, nutmeg and cinnemon
L: Chicken salad
D. Sea Bass and Green beans, broccoli and carrots
S: Cottage cheese, SF jelly

Movement: Cardio and a turbo fire HIIT workout

Have a really lovely day!

OP posts:
yukka · 08/05/2020 13:03

Afternoon ladies! Thanks for the motivation. One of my issues is giving up when I don't get results but as you say another month and it will have happened!

25 min/2 mine run today. Really pleased I feel confident to achieve 5k by end of may and then I can work on pace. But time running is most important now.

Today is
B fast
L protein shake and boiled egg
D not sure yet dh wants a treat. Otherwise chicken salad or bbq meats and salad.
S apple and ricotta

beautyqueenfrompluto · 08/05/2020 13:32

Yukka I'm the same-often give you when I don't see results. I'm trying to change my mindset on that and thinking it'll happen in the long term, but if I give up it just won't happen at all.

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 09/05/2020 08:22

Hi there,

If you were to know how really I have never given up in the last two years and I have tried all sorts and I have never stopped exercising more or less daily.

Bright lines eating with no sugar and flour, Anti-inflammatory diets, Louise Parker, I even got asked to stop the Cambridge diet because I was the anomaly that didn't lose weight drinking two shakes and a soup for dinner! I have seen three different nutritionists because I couldn't lose weight and was doing everything 'right'.

This strict diet is the first thing that has actually worked. The only thing that makes someone successful or not is to not give up! Or if you do, try again! Keep going Yukka and Beauty - we can lose this stone!

And worked it has! - weigh in day and I am 9 stone 2.5 (that is 9.5 lbs off since starting three weeks ago) and now we are talking November 2017 since I was this small. I am so happy and also shocked that it is working so well!
