Lockdown lose a stone! That tricky last stone!

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 18/04/2020 11:38

Hello,
So I got back on the scales today and I was 9 stone 12.5.

The Dukan diet calculator says I can be 8 stone 10 by June 20.
Can this be true? Let us try it out!!

Based on my exhaustive and extensive diet 'research' from the last 27 out of 41 years of my life and weight ranging between 8 stone and 12.7 stone I am going to do the following:

  1. Daily 'change my mindset' reading in the morning
  2. Meal plan for the week but every morning commit to what I am going to eat for the day.
  3. Follow a low carb diet based on Dukan when my book arrives and Louise Parker recipes because I love her.
  4. Tuesdays and Thursdays are 16/8 days.
  5. Beachbody on demand - Morning meltdown 100 workouts.

I have lipoedema and I am not 100% sure my thyroid works.
I haven't got any lower than 9 stone 10 in the last two years.

I feel well and might as well use this lockdown time to focus on balancing the blood sugar and my insulin response! Weight loss should be the result.

Anyone else want to join in and lose a stone over the next couple of months?

Hi there,

@Mimilondon39 sorry to hear that you have had such an emotional day, I am glad you have good friends and gin around you. Flowers

@Yukka - men are so annoying when it comes to weight loss. Don't compare your lbs to his or you might get discouraged and you are doing great.

@Foreverlexicon Flowers take today one moment at a time and be as gentle and kind to yourself as you are able x

@beautyqueenfrompluto great job. It's always easier when you have the right food in. Fingers crossed for your weigh in today.

I had a tired day yesterday and today what I really want to do is just say no more homeschool, no more work - I just want to sit in bed and binge watch Desperate Housewives season one (for the third time).

So I will go for somewhere in the middle. I have done my exercise already, I will do a shorter homeschool, a few emails for work, and then I want to be in my bedroom, with the door closed for a few hours, watching Desparate Housewives in bed, this afternoon.

Day 13 Commitments

Motivation: Make a list of 5 Non-Scale Victories (NSV) that are your goals for weight loss eg: more energy, less guilt when you treat yourself in a controlled way, less pain, reduced need for medication, competing in a race, increased confidence

Meals:
B Oatbran porridge, rhubarb compote, ricotta, stevia (eaten)
L Tuna salad
D Chicken and green veg
S Fishsticks, diet vanilla coke, sugar free jelly

Movement - Day 13 morning meltdown - core (done)

See you all soon x

Well done everyone, keep going!
I have zero organisation skills to meal plan. I'm winging it everyday but I have about another day of fresh food before I face the freezer or food shop. Although the house is full of Easter chocolate which is a killer!
Non scales victory here... I bought a size 10 pair of trousers in the sale as motivation and they arrived yesterday. I can get them on and do them up! They're tight but they're on!

Mimilondon39 · 30/04/2020 11:57

Size 10 is brilliant well done! I’ve got a size 28 pair of Paige jeans (generous sizing as they are the same as a size 30 I have from Gap) that I can do up but they are far too tight so that’s my goal. Have lost a few pounds anyway over last couple of days from stress (can’t eat when I’m sad) but planning to get back on plan tomorrow - new WW too much faff as don’t want to be on my phone all day but I’m going to track what I eat the old fashioned way on paper. Good luck to everyone this week!

Squashbanana125 · 30/04/2020 14:31

Hey everyone

Still here. Yesterday was good and stuck to what I had planned

Think I’m going to make Thursday my weight day and only do once a week so first week and I have officially lost 1 1/4lbs so I’m 10’4 1/2

I’ll take that. I always seem to have small losses whatever diet I’ve done be it ww or sw. but I’m determined

Today b fast
Lunch boiled eggs on wholemeal with butter
Dinner - burger bowl I think

Weather is crap here so I don’t think I’ll be walking today. May try and do a yoga online the adrianne one is the one I use.

Wishing you all a good day

yukka · 30/04/2020 19:43

I really like the idea of non scale victories as often the scales don't tell the whole story. I think I have 3 being, to be comfortable to run 5k by the end of may, to fit into a lovely dress I have stashed away and to be able to sit on the floor cross legged again (had some hip/pelvic issues since giving birth)

The exercise , stretching, strengthening etc should all contribute to those goals even if the scales doesn't always say what I want it too!

Great wins already with size 10 jeans and loosing a few pounds! Amazing!

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 30/04/2020 21:57

Sounds like good days everyone and congrats on your loss. Lots of people have mentioned adrienne - I will have to check her out.

I like your NSV Yukka.

I think mine are:
To feel less inflamed in my joints.
To fit into my summer clothes that are all in a box in the shed.
To be able to beat my 9 year old in a race because I can't at the moment.
Feel less anxiety/be more confident

OP posts:
beautyqueenfrompluto · 30/04/2020 23:27

My NSV are:

  1. To fit into my clothes from 3 years ago (pre baby #3).
  2. To feel good when I see my in-laws and friends again post-lockdown.
  3. To run a sub 1-hour 10k (still a lot of work to do for that)!
myohmywhatawonderfulday · 01/05/2020 09:26

beautyqueenfrompluto - you can achieve all of those!

Day 14 commitments
Motivation: Focus on self-talk: When you start to be mean/hard/discouraging to yourself declare it out loud that its deceptive. Try to listen, though to the message, and reframe it with a plan/take positive action towards your goal.

B- Fast
L- Oatbran gallette with cottage cheese and prawns
D - Chicken soup
S - SF jelly, diet vanilla coke, ricotta, greek yog (might not eat/drink all of these but they are my go to's so I know I can).
2 litres of water/herbal tea

Movement: Morning Meltdown workout 14/100

It's weigh in day tomorrow. How can that be? This week has gone very fast. What I will say, is that I do look different from two weeks ago, so whatever the scales say...I am going in the right direction.

Have a great day everyone x

OP posts:
yukka · 02/05/2020 09:30

Morning ladies. It's weigh in day!

Pleased to report 10.9 on the scales, that's 5.5lbs since I started 3 weeks ago. Super pleased 😁 according to my targets I need to loose the same in the next 3 weeks to be 10.3 ish by end of may.

I have decided my actual goal is 9.12. So I have a good 6 weeks to go but I'll take in in small chunks.

And towards one of my NSVs I went for my first run in about 2 years yesterday, did 2 miles, wasn't as bad as I expected, no stopping and no post birth leakage...woohooo!!!!! Double win! 🙈🤣

Today is treat day, which is going to be a few low cal drinks tonight and a sweet healthy desert if I can make one with what we have.

B- protein shake
L - pork medallions and salad
D - meatball and mozzarella bake with those pesky sweet potato wedges to dip that I've not had all week
S - raisins, smoked cheese

Hope you all had good days yesterday and good luck to those weighing in this morning x

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 02/05/2020 10:08

@Yukka congratulations on your loss. You have been very committed and I am so pleased for you. Also double congratulations on your post birth run. It takes guts to go out for the first time and you did it!!

It's weigh in day and I lost another 3.5lbs which I can hardly believe.
I was 9.5lbs on the scales this morning which is a total loss of 7lbs.
I look completely different and I can't say how happy I am that I started this two weeks ago.

OP posts:
myohmywhatawonderfulday · 02/05/2020 10:12

Day 15 commitments

Motivation: Focus on self talk: Use the word I don't not I can't.
Other power words include I choose, I will, I don't.
Eg I don't eat xxx rather than I can't eat xxx

Meals:
B Oatbran porridge with rhubarb and a vanilla yogurt
L Chicken salad
D Tuna steak and green veg

Movement: Long walk and Morning Meltdown - workout 15/Flow

Hope you all have a great day!

Foreverlexicon · 02/05/2020 10:27

Day before yesterday not great but could’ve been worse.
Yesterday was good on the food front.
Life still extremely stressful and difficult. Ugh.

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 02/05/2020 10:29

It's good to hear from you Foreverlexicon and to hear that you have been able to do what you are able to. (although not good to hear that its so tough).

OP posts:
yukka · 02/05/2020 13:48

@myohmywhatawonderfulday oh brilliant well done too, you've done so well sticking to an extremely tight intake. Glad you can see the difference.

@Foreverlexicon hope things are better for you soon 💐

managedmis · 02/05/2020 17:32

I'll join if you don't mind.

Got ten pounds to lose, currently 143 lbs, was 133 last May. And didn't appreciate it.

I'm 5'5 and 38.

Plan is to just avoid treats (treats being cheese, wine, dark choc) and edge towards low carb.

I've hardly stuffed my face since lockdown but I must have, and I've just not noticed ten frigging pounds creeping on.

I need to keep to 1500 per day otherwise I just gain 🙄

managedmis · 02/05/2020 17:34

Here's my food :

2 scrambled eggs
Greek yog and low sugar apple compote

Lots of coffee

Lunch : baked sweet potato, bolognaise, salad

Dinner will be BBQ chicken, salad and maybe baby new pots

Small glass of wine maybe

We can do this!!

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 02/05/2020 18:02

Hi Managedmis - welcome and we can do this!

OP posts:
Foreverlexicon · 03/05/2020 10:09

Still good on the food and exercise.

Yesterday I had
B - cereal and peach
L - flatbread with cheese and soy broad beans
D - beef stew with peas
S - chocolate, bit of fudge and small bag of popcorn
E - ran 6k and rode the horse for an hour and 15 min.
Came to approx 1600 calories.

Still having a very stressful, worrying time but there’s nothing I can do about it - partner’s mum is terminally ill and is going to pass any literal minute now, my partner moved 300 miles to care for her the week before lockdown and as I’m still working (emergency services), I’m stuck here.

As I’ve finished my off ‘on call’ stint and am back to work (for all of 2 night shifts before I have 4 days off again!) I’m going back to weighing every 10 days so won’t weigh until Thursday.

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 03/05/2020 11:17

@Foreverlexicon your food looks delicious. I think every 10 days is really sensible because working nights really messes with cortisol and all sorts. Sorry to hear about your partner's mother and I hope that everything can be as peaceful as possible for you all in the upcoming days x

Day 16 Commitments

Motivation: Focus on what you can do.
10 minute squats in your kitchen is better than not at all. Don't fall in to the trap because you can't do an hour workout then give up. Always focus on what you can and you can always do something positive.

Meals: PP Day
Vanilla yogurt with ricotta and nutmeg
L. Oatbran Gallette and tuna - unless I have a flash of inspiration.
D. Smoked salmon omlette
S. Sugar free jelly, greek yogurt

Movement: Morning meltdown down - day 16/Cardio

xx

Meh, just live with the last stone. Its a lot more fun!

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 03/05/2020 17:55

@BillywilliamV - I am happy that you are living a happy life! This is probably not the thread for you.

I would call looking more myself, no joint pain, my eyes are shining bright and glossy hair a very happy place to be in, so I will stay here!

OP posts:
OhCobblers · 03/05/2020 19:40

I've recently posted on a "running" thread as I learnt about calorie deficit again.
Whilst low carbing (still pretty much the Med Diet) and exercising 6 days a week have religiously tracked my calorie intake. I'm also only eating between the hours of 1-8pm (or 12-7pm some days).

In creating a deficit of 7000 calories per week, just by eating 1000 calories a day, but also not eating my exercise calories, I saw an immediate 2lb loss this week. It's still slow going as I've only lost 4-5 lbs in a few weeks but headed in the right direction.

To the poster who suggests living happily with the last stone (in my case a stone and a half). I'd be really really happy once it's gone and my lovely wardrobe of clothes fit better!! I will look better and my mental health will be too !

Still finding drinking 2 litres a day tough work!!

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 04/05/2020 09:07

@OhCobblers I think that your 4 - 5lbs is about right and congratulations on 2lb this week!

I really think that losing weight is much harder, takes stronger will power and always takes longer, and that is why so many people find it so tough - because it is. I can only lose weight by eating a true 700 cals - 1000 cals a day. There are always people who say they lost weight eating 2000 cals a day but that is not me.

OP posts:
myohmywhatawonderfulday · 04/05/2020 09:11

Day 17 Commitments

Motivation: When weighing up whether to eat a treat - give it a mark out of 10. Only if it looks like its a 9/10 or above - go for it. Otherwise its just not worth the calories.

Meals:
B Oatbran porrdige, yogurt and ricotta
L Protein shake with spinach
D Tofu coated in oatbran and pan fried, with stirfry veg

Movement: Morning Meltdown - workout 16/100 - strength training

I hope that all my Lockdown lose a stone buddies are all do well today!
