Lockdown lose a stone! That tricky last stone!

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 18/04/2020 11:38

Hello,
So I got back on the scales today and I was 9 stone 12.5.

The Dukan diet calculator says I can be 8 stone 10 by June 20.
Can this be true? Let us try it out!!

Based on my exhaustive and extensive diet 'research' from the last 27 out of 41 years of my life and weight ranging between 8 stone and 12.7 stone I am going to do the following:

  1. Daily 'change my mindset' reading in the morning
  2. Meal plan for the week but every morning commit to what I am going to eat for the day.
  3. Follow a low carb diet based on Dukan when my book arrives and Louise Parker recipes because I love her.
  4. Tuesdays and Thursdays are 16/8 days.
  5. Beachbody on demand - Morning meltdown 100 workouts.

I have lipoedema and I am not 100% sure my thyroid works.
I haven't got any lower than 9 stone 10 in the last two years.

I feel well and might as well use this lockdown time to focus on balancing the blood sugar and my insulin response! Weight loss should be the result.

Anyone else want to join in and lose a stone over the next couple of months?

Day 31 Commitments

Motivation: Put some effort today into making your life easier. Eg think about some easy dinners that require no effort and put them on your shopping list for the 'days you don't want to cook'.

Meals:
B: Ricotta doughnut, protein and spinach smoothie, vanilla skyr yogurt
L: Prawn salad
D: Steak and brocolli
S: Billtong, sugar free jelly, diet coke

Movement: Cardio and a hit workout

It's such a gorgeous day. Have a wonderful Monday!

Thank you for the welcome. I weighed and am exactly 10st. Feel very bloated and unwell, keen to clean up my act. I am in my big bras which I hate and my size 14 M&S undies are giving up. I have never been a size 16 in anything so I need to put the effort in. Strange isn’t it how 1 stone makes such a big difference, it does for me anyway but I am small boned. I usually eat lots of veg and am saint like until the evening when I open a bottle of wine and have crackers and cheese or 4 - 6 bags of crisps! I’ve also been eating bread every day which is a new lockdown habit.

I am going to keep it simple and cut the obvious junk for this first week. I feel too lumpy to exercise but will try a brisk walk for today and aim to do 5k on treadmill later in the week.

B coffee
L 2 scrambled eggs
D chicken and veg

Squashbanana125 · 18/05/2020 13:43

I’ve decided I need to come back as trying to do it alone but didn’t work. I went from
30.04- 10’4.5
07.05- 10.5
14.05- 10.6 1/4
18.05 weighed in at 10.10

I have never been this heavy but I just can’t seem to stop eating. I do well for a week or 2. Then I’m on self-destruct.

So I am back here determined to be good.
I was a stone lighter this time last year. And would like to be just under 10.

I’ve not really planned my meals for the week but that is my next step.

But this time I want to and have to stick to this.

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 18/05/2020 18:53

Hello RedKite - glad you started and you have a plan!
Squashbanana125 - it is so good that you have come back!! I have started and re-started more times than anyone could ever count. You can do this. It's just 10lbs. Do you want to do the Dukan diet? As that has been the way I have lost this weight this time.

Squashbanana125 · 18/05/2020 22:17

My- thanks and well done you are doing so well.

Yes I may give durkan a go....it’s low carb right?

Do you recommend any online resources? At moment On days I’m good I guess I do 16:8 but also try and limit carbs and following the old principles of syns from my old slimming world days.

Day 1 done
Had 2 boiled eggs
Snack yogurt
Dinner ww cottage pie
And another yogurt
I managed a 4K run

I feel hungry now so I’m going to try and sleep

On to day 2

Letsbegin · 19/05/2020 08:36

Hi can I join? I am 9 stone 12 and want to get back to 9 stone I have been trying to lose this for 2 years but wine and cake have stopped me...I cannot seem to go a weekend without drinking. I have just downloaded the Dukan book on Kindle and am planning on shopping today and starting tomorrow.
I desperately want to lose as much as possible by my birthday in 3.5 weeks!
This thread has inspired me!

RedKite1 · 19/05/2020 09:11

So, day 2 for me. Yesterday went pretty well and I feel less bloated today.

B Coffee
L asparagus soup or roast asparagus
D chicken breast, roast courgettes, kale

beautyqueenfrompluto · 19/05/2020 10:47

My problem is also wine (and chocolate) and, as someone said, during lockdown I've been eating a lot more bread. I've made roasted veg and cous cous for lunch and we're having a BBQ for dinner.
I've also ran 4K and did Joe Wicks with the kids!
Have a good day everyone!

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 19/05/2020 18:23

Hello everyone good to see you! Well done for the 4K's both of you! Great work!!

Welcome - Let'sbegin!

Dukan is low carb and low fat and ummm low food really - but its working so far. It follows a certain pattern where you have pure protein days (plus oatbran) and protein and vegetable days. It starts though with a kick-start of pure protein for three days. 32 days in I feel really well, I have energy and it's all good so far. It was hard to start - you just got to push through it!

It's Tuesday which means I work and so don't get time to check in the morning and make my commitments.

So here they are better late than never!

Meals:
No breakfast - fast day
Lunch: Dukan 'bread' with a poached egg, marmite and low fat cheese. Another bagel of Dukan bread with ricotta and fromage frais.
Dinner: Nados Tofu in a Miso soup
S: Cottage cheese, sugar free jelly

Movement: I am going to go for a walk because I have been sat down all day. I need to do workout 32 of morning meltdown which is a strength workout.

My house always looks so messy on working days. I need to go tidy up....see you later!

Well done red sounds like it’s going well.

Beauty- I can relate to you on the chocolate. As for alcohol don’t think I’ve had a drink since feb. Just not really a drinker unless I’m out.

My- your daily food sounds good. I think I may get the book for my kindle so I can grasp as better understanding

Anyway today went well. Had a 4K walk and did boxing with DH.
B fast
Lunch scrambled eggs bacon and beans
Dinner grilled salmon and salad
Snack was Greek yogurt.

Feeling positive and going to bed happy

RedKite1 · 20/05/2020 09:32

Thanks Squash, I think I am getting into the swing of it now. A couple of days of eating less and my appetite is reducing.

B Coffee
L Asparagus & celery soup
D Salmon & veg

I have to confess to having wine after dinner still. I am reducing gradually. Today’s big goal is to find 40 mins to do my slow 5k.

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 20/05/2020 11:50

Hi there guys!
So I woke up and was a bit down. I was like, I have eaten the same (not a lot!) of food for days now. I think I am in the tricky middle section of weight loss. Anyway, I decided to take a picture and compare it to my start and see for myself. It was good!

Don't forget to take pictures!!

Day 33 Commitments
Motivation: Remember small changes add up to large changes over time. Smaller and consistent beats large and sporadic every time.
Meals: B Oatbran porridge, vanilla yogurt, rhubard
L: Tuna Nicoise salad
D: I don't know. This is one of the few times I am not committing in advance. I am going food shopping today.
S: Billtong, more yogurt!
Movement: Core workout, walk

OP posts:
Squashbanana125 · 20/05/2020 19:24

Red- well done! Oh don’t worry about the wine a glass is better than a bottle. I too feel like I am finding my feet again

My- sorry to hear you had one of them mornings- u are doing fantastic and have been so committed and helpful to people on here. But as you say often pictures tell a different story so that’s a great reminder even if the scales are moving at a snails pace

Today
B fast
L- just a yogurt
D- homemade burger no bun with salad and light cheese on top of burger
Feeling committed and happy

and will weigh in tomorrow. Monday was 10’10 and I know I can’t expect miracles so we shall see as only been 3 full days

Shortyshortcake1 · 20/05/2020 21:39

Hi there,
Can I join too please? Having lost over 2 1/2 stone three years ago after my second child - I’ve started to creep back up and now 10 pounds off my goal weight. I’m 40s and 5’2 and so only need around 1400-1600 calories for maintenance. I find sticking to 1000 cals seems to work but progress is so slow compared to my 20s and 30s and the odd boozy weekend undoes all the good work. I’ve been really motivated reading your thread and would like to jump in!

yukka · 20/05/2020 22:17

Hi ladies! Glad to see everyone is in motivation mode :) busy few days for me but 6/7 mile walks with the pram and done well with food. I've also started pushing the pram with one hand and carrying a 2kg weight with the other and switching. I must look like an idiot but every little helps!

I've started tracking my accumulative net calories each day now to make sure I am as close to 7000 down each week.

Good news is I wore a top yesterday that I haven't fit into for 2 years :) yippeee!

Bad news is I've broken out in a cold sore and felt really lethargic today. The sun does trigger them and I'm annoyed I forgot to use protective lip balm on my long walks. So I've chilled out a bit today.

Back on it tomo!

TeaRose29 · 21/05/2020 11:01

@myohmywhatawonderfulday thanks so much for that recipe - it sounds delicious and I’m going to try it. I find it very difficult to eat lumps of protein without any carbs to balance them out.

I’m so impressed by your determination. Also it was interesting to hear that you have simply not lost on other diets, in spite of sticking to them.

What are your thoughts on fat? I know it’s back “in” now (at least good fats) but I find that fat really makes me fat! I tried the Atkins diet once, and it was a complete disaster. I think I gained weight! I also felt hungry all the time, and really terrible. Dr Dukan pooh-poohs Atkins, of course!

Today:
B = 0% Greek yogurt, 12g almonds, SF jelly
L = tinned red salmon with cucumber and raspberry vinegar
D = scallops and rocket
Snack = quark, FF cherry yogurt

Have a good day everyone!

Squashbanana125 · 21/05/2020 12:13

Another sunny day here

Yukka - wow impressive walks there. I definitely finds walking helps and puts me in a good head space. Hope the cold sore goes away soon.

Shorty- welcome. I too was about 10 lbs off from start

Tea- I need to find out more about the Durkan- currently I’m fasting. Skip breakfast and eat from 1-7pm. But I am mindful not to have too many carbs

Feeling good- I was 9’6 1/4 last Thursday And had a very bad weekend. sneakily weighed on Monday and was shocked at 10’10 (although I had taken antibiotic metrodozonile for teeth infection) so may have caused the huge gain too.
Weighed this morning and was 10’4 1/4
So happy! So from last Thursday weight I’m down 2lbs and last Monday’s a lot more but don’t think that was accurate coz of antibiotics

Now this is where I normally get to- about this weight and I think ahhhh it’s ok And old habits creep in and next week I’m back where I started

Determined to keep this up. Today I’m working from home as had yday off but hope to get a nice walk in. And may do a online band workout

RedKite1 · 21/05/2020 19:36

Well done Squash and Yukka. Progress!

Busy day here, running out of food so had to cook an odd medley from the freezer, I won’t list as it was not good food. Family fed is the main thing. Grocery delivery in the morning so will be back on fresh veg hopefully.

Hope everyone is doing ok.

Squashbanana125 · 22/05/2020 13:16

Red- sometimes freezer foods are the only option
I had one of those type of meals lastnight and was delicious. All within calories mind

Just wanted to check in. It’s quiet on here so hope everyone is ok.

I’ve not eaten yet today. Will start my fast soon with an omelette and maybe a bbq with salad for dinner as weather is good and nice to make use of outdoor cooking.

Yesterday was a measly 3.2k walk so today I said to DH let’s do a long one this afternoon as long as I get my work finished.

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 22/05/2020 17:02

Hello everyone,

It is so good to see all your updates!! Amazing Yukka about your top and Squash - If I can do this - you can do this!!

Welcome Shortycake1 (and I love your name).

TeaRose29 - I have been the queen of committed but disappointed. I am at this moment in time shocked at what is happening to my body. I am quite literally shrinking before my very eyes! I suppose I will have to do a version of this eating for the rest of my life - but what I will say is I have more energy and so much less joint pain - that at the moment I don't want to go back.

Sorry I have missed out on writing my commitments the last few days. I guess even the committed can have off days. Not that I had an off day but I have worked a ridiculous amount - but has been very satisfying and I have completed something massive.

I did miss my workout so I will double up this evening.

See you all soon!!

Glad to see you my thanks I was very happy too with my loss and I’ve been on plan. Normally see a loss and think il have a treat etc but I didn’t.

Still need to go for my walk. Feeling lazy today. But I know I will feel better for it.

beautyqueenfrompluto · 22/05/2020 20:46

I've been crazy busy with work for a few days so haven't posted. Glad to hear everyone is doing well. I usually weigh on a Friday but didn't today as I'm feeling really motivated and worried that if I weigh and it's not good news that it would de-motivate me! I'm not sure if that was sensible or not!
Anyway, two people in two days have commented that ok looking slimmer! Woohoo!

Shortyshortcake1 · 22/05/2020 23:03

Hi everyone and thanks for the welcome!

I’ve really tried to make an effort for the past 5 days. I’ve done three 5k runs and planning to try a 10k tomorrow. Food wise, I’ve been fasting until 11am and then typically having a protein shake with lots of fruit, a salad and a dinner of chicken and veg. No alcohol this week but I have had the odd Budweiser zero which is the only non alcohol beer that tastes vaguely ok (to me). Like Beautyqueen, I’ll do my first weigh in next week as I can tend to lose will power if there are no immediate results but mentally am already feeling brighter and o can definitely notice less bloating. Happy bank holiday weekend everyone x
