Hello everyone and welcome to the March edition! The plan is to lose 7lbs or 3kg this month!

All are welcome whether you are a regular, newbie, lurker, returning member... all I ask for is the amazing positivity and encouragement I have seen on every thread so far. You guys have been incredible!

I am following ww blue plan and very low carbing. There's a good mix of different methods on here though :)

Previous thread here is anyone wants to look back: Lose 7lbs/3kg per month! The February edition! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3810787-lose-7lbs-3kg-per-month-the-february-edition

My stats are:
Starting weight (Dec 18) 25st 2lbs
Current weight: 18st 4lbs
Loss so far: 6st 12lbs
Loss for Feb: 6lbs (just missed target 😢)
Target for March: 10lbs so 17st 8lbs

We can do this people!!! Who's with me???

The idea of carrying around a teenager in body weight is amazing/scary, so great you've lost so much 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

cricketmum84 · 05/03/2020 21:45

Haha are there any waterproof foods out there? Could be useful if I wanted to sneak snacks in the shower in future 😂

Yes it's really scary! We went to Benidorm on holiday when I was at my heaviest. I had to take paracetamol, codeine, naproxen and ibuprofen just to get around because the sciatica was so incredibly painful. Even after all that I was in agony the whole time.

@cricketmum84 you have done so amazingly well!! It’s such a big achievement, and still more to come! Sorry your curry was disappointing, love that you sneaked a bit of toast though 😂

Egghead68 · 06/03/2020 06:58

@beforeIhit30 I am in awe of your steady weight loss.

I’m 63.6kg today so wobbling up and down a bit.

Largely restricted to the house due to coronovirus fears (have serious underlying respiratory condition). Trying to work out a home exercise plan and avoid boredom eating.

Happy Friday everyone!

SconNotScone · 06/03/2020 07:22

Good luck @Egghead68 - I hope you stay well and get sorted with plenty to keep you occupied. Have you done any exercise videos on YouTube?

Weighed in this morning at dead on 68kg (10st 10lbs). I’m so thrilled, that’s 2lb off this week. My work trousers are far too loose now, ideally I will lose another 10-14lbs, so not sure if I should buy some new ones now, or wait a bit longer 🤔

Hope you all have a good weekend!

Ihatesundays · 06/03/2020 07:23

Another 0.1kg off which takes me to 69.8kg. More importantly that’s also just under 11 stones!
Hoping the plateau stays away!

MotherOfDragonite · 06/03/2020 07:28

@cricketmum84 I am just so in awe of your weight loss!

@Egghead68 my mum is staying in a lot more too, for similar reasons. I have suggested to her that she finds some online yoga and ta chi videos on Youtube! Also, if you are that way inclined, there is an online Quaker meeting.

cricketmum84 · 06/03/2020 07:32

@Ihatesundays whoop! You are in the 10s!!! Bloody well done. Fingers crossed for no more plateau!

@Egghead68 stay safe lovely. I remember how poorly you were last month!

@SconNotScone can you get some cheap ones from primark or similar so it's not too much of a waste if they only last a couple of months? Well done on another loss!

Quick one from me this morning as we slept in and I'm going to be late for work! Also don't have any breakfast or lunch organised so I'm hoping the work fruit bowl is full! Littlest DD is doing home made pizza for tea so I'm having an omelette. No movement on weight this morning but hoping for that pound for tomorrow's official weigh in day!!

Happy Friday everyone!!

Some great losses. Thanks for the suggestion of YouTube videos. I will look into them. Just need to get myself motivated to do them!
Stay safe everyone.

recklessgran · 06/03/2020 07:59

Morning all. Quick one from me too as have docs appointment shortly. Well done everyone on the great losses I'm a bit stuck again I think. Only down 0.25lbs so far since Monday. This seems to be a bit of a pattern now for me but at least the trend is downwards. I'm not viewing this as a diet anymore, more a way of eating for life so not feeling worried. Today is my day off so going shopping with g/f. We've [well, DH has] been decorating a spare room this week so want to get some new bedding, a nice houseplant in pot and one of those multiframe affairs for photos to finish it off. Will then convene to the pub for alcohol and gossip. DD4 is home this afternoon after a week of nights so looking forward to my mummying weekend. We're expecting all 5 DDs and DGCs here on Sunday for lunch at fancy pants garden centre. Have a good day all.

beforeihit30 · 06/03/2020 09:18

Aww thank you @Egghead68 that makes me feel good, sometimes I see people losing much more in a month and think, “Should I be losing more?” so it’s a nice reminder that steady loss is a good thing!

Also have you tried Fitness Blender? They have loads of free workout videos of all different types and abilities, they have programmes you can purchase but the programmes are made up of their free videos so you won’t miss out if you don’t purchase (the programmes are good for providing a structure or just not to have to think about it). Some videos are individual workouts and you can build your own routine (eg warm up, workout, cool down), others are full routines with warm up and cool down included. I do many of their low impact exercises as I need to slowly build strength and watch my joints - chronic illness has seriously weakened a large proportion of my musculoskeletal system - they are great, still challenging but safer. It was okayed by my physiotherapist.

Or I’m selling something you already know Grin but hey, useful link for anyone who exercises at home! I also like that it’s music-free and shouting-free, I’ve never been a fan of ‘traditional’ exercise videos (the whole thing of “Pump it up! Feel the burn! Watch Kelly, she’s doing great! Woo! FIVE MORE COME ON!”, too much for me haha), but they do encourage you to put your own music on if it works for you.

Tryingtwo · 06/03/2020 09:54

Good morning all, hope you get well soon Egghead68
Just a quick check in and a 0.6lb loss today. I had peanut butter on crumpets for breakfast as a change from porridge and was rather dismayed to find how little peanut butter is in one level tabsp - I did manage to share it between 2 crumpets but realised that I have to keep weighing and measuring as I'm still not good at portion control.
Hope everyone has a good day.

Onceuponatimethen · 06/03/2020 10:25

I’m trying not to weigh today but may crack and do it in a minute. I know I haven’t lost much this week, but my face is looking a bit more like its old shape which is nice Smile

beforeihit30 · 06/03/2020 12:01

Oh yes @Tryingtwo even though I’ve tracked on and off over the years I still get taken by surprise by the really nutrient dense stuff. Nut butter, mayo and cream are usually the culprits! I now know if I’m having any of them it’s going to be at least 30g and a decent chunk of calories and fat (and I enjoy it very much Grin)

On that note, made easy hollandaise this morning for the first time and so chuffed with how it came out! I’ve never been much good with these types of sauces but I got a stick blender at the beginning of the year and I’ve found loads of easy stick blender recipes that I can actually do. Had it with crab meat and lettuce, was delicious.

JessJonesJumps · 06/03/2020 12:32

@beforeIhit30 would you recommend a stick blender? I have a countertop blender for soups, etc, but my hand whisk has just broken and I was wondering if I'd be better getting a stick blender to replace it.

I'm down 0.6lbs. Today's plan is vitamins, lemsip capsules, more lemsip capsules, lots of fluids and whatever soft food my throat feels like it can cope with. atm the ice cream and double cream and squirty cream are all calling to me but I'm trying to resist.

KedsAndTubeSocks · 06/03/2020 13:09

I love my stick blender for soups, but I wouldn't be without a normal electric hand whisk too. I do quite like a gadget!

JessJonesJumps · 06/03/2020 13:16

Keds me too! And DH. He used to regularly bring home kitchen appliances. Half of them are now packaged up and stored in the cellar eg the fancy cheese grater that was very difficult to clean; the electric steamer that was nowhere near as good as a pot, etc, etc Grin

Now I'm thinking perhaps I need both a stick blender and an electric whisk [thoughtful emoji if there was one on MN]

KedsAndTubeSocks · 06/03/2020 13:20

Poor you Jess . Hope you feel better soon. So many of us on this thread have had the lurgy. Roll on Spring and better weather and the end of cold-season!
Re: exercise vids - if you have Amazon prime, there's loads on there. I found some by a lady called Maggie Brinkley (?) which I quite liked. Think I'm going to focus on running and some at-home exercise. I nearly signed up to a pilates class today, but it's really not necessary with some self-discipline. Need to stop spending money!

Onceuponatimethen · 06/03/2020 13:30

The stick blenders are amazing! I mostly use mine to make pizza sauce

MotherOfDragonite · 06/03/2020 14:24

@JessJonesJumps I use my stick blender for everything now! Wouldn't be without it. Hope you feel better soon!

@Egghead68 on a less high brow note, if you have Netflix, I highly recommend Sex Education. It's a very funny and nicely produced series. I binge watched it!

MotherOfDragonite · 06/03/2020 14:29

I have had a good week so far (all two and a half days of it!) and feel properly back on track now.

I feel a bit derailed by all the coronavirus stuff, though. Looking at all the other countries that are a few steps ahead of us, it looks as if we could be in for an interesting ride.

beforeihit30 · 06/03/2020 15:26

@JessJonesJumps my stick blender is great! Thought about it for years but figured I didn’t need another gadget. Wish I got it sooner Grin I got quite a high powered one, it came with a small blender/chopper attachment and also a small whisk attachment. It depends what you use your hand whisk for but this has taken over my electric whisk, but I mainly whisk cream and egg whites so I don’t need a heavy duty gadget. It has also taken over my food processor. I probably need to rehome the food processor and the whisk now! I’ve had it a few months. It’s quick and more compact, and multifunctional. I currently use it to make sauces, mayonnaise, purée stuff, make soup and the whisking as mentioned. Haven’t tried it for ‘ricing’ veg yet, not that it’s a regular activity for me but I have ‘riced’ cauliflower before.

Kolo · 06/03/2020 17:38

That's amazing loss @cricketmum84!
Congratulations to all the other losses. I'm weighing on Sunday, but think it's going pretty well this week. No big plans for the weekend so easy to stay on track. Happy weekend!

recklessgran · 06/03/2020 19:43

@beforeIhit30 thanks for the Fitness Blender recommendation. I'm definitely going to try that when I get back from holiday. My under desk cycle came and I'm so mad at myself. I won't be able to use it whilst sitting working as my desk is too low and my knees will hit the underneath of the desk if you see what I mean. I feel a bit stupid for not realising that before I ordered. I have bunged it in the garage for now whilst I think about it. It's a shame really as it's a neat, light weight bit of kit and I thought it would help solve my lack of exercise problem.
Anyway, I've had a lovely day shopping and socialising with bestie so that was nice. Visited DM and she is panicking about coronavirus and has begged us to cancel our holiday. I've told her to stop reading the bloody Daily Mail for a start. I can really sympathise with her as she's 87 and worried that if she catches it she will surely die. I've tried to reassure her and will make sure that she's properly stocked with everything she needs before we go, but cancel - NO WAY! I'm looking forward to DD4 arriving to get her take on it. She's normally extremely rational and calm so I'll see what she has to say from the medical POV.
.

Egghead68 · 06/03/2020 19:47

Get well soon @jessjonesjumps.

Thanks for the recommendation @MotherOfDragonite. I have watched it and love it. I am a huge Gillian Anderson fan.

I did my first ever YouTube exercise video
I thought it was great! I’m going to try a different one every day.
