cricketmum84 · 29/02/2020 12:03

Hello everyone and welcome to the March edition! The plan is to lose 7lbs or 3kg this month!

All are welcome whether you are a regular, newbie, lurker, returning member... all I ask for is the amazing positivity and encouragement I have seen on every thread so far. You guys have been incredible!

I am following ww blue plan and very low carbing. There's a good mix of different methods on here though :)

Previous thread here is anyone wants to look back: Lose 7lbs/3kg per month! The February edition! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3810787-lose-7lbs-3kg-per-month-the-february-edition

My stats are:
Starting weight (Dec 18) 25st 2lbs
Current weight: 18st 4lbs
Loss so far: 6st 12lbs
Loss for Feb: 6lbs (just missed target 😢)
Target for March: 10lbs so 17st 8lbs

We can do this people!!! Who's with me???

P. s. Thanks for all the good wishes. This thread is so lovely and supportive.

recklessgran my dm (84) is also panicking about corona virus, to the point she can't sleep and when she finally does drop off she has nightmares about it! Calmness and rational discussion is not helping at all and she is getting obsessive about handwashing. Df (85) isn't bothered about the virus but is concerned about dm.

MotherOfDragonite · 06/03/2020 21:50

@recklessgran, is raising the height of your desk an option? I did this once using off-cuts of wood (but of course this isn't super aesthetically pleasing and I don't know how much extra height you would need anyway!)

Ok, so today I ate quite a lot.

B: boiled egg on half a bagel with Tabasco sauce
L: my downfall! I ate a ready-made Thai veg curry which was at once not filling/satisfying at all and yet used up loooooads of my points
D: green veg/bean dish with WW slices of bread

I am not super keen on the WW bread. I was prepared to be all excited about it as it's 1pp a slice, yet I had not anticipated quite how disappointingly meagre a slice would be and therefore I ate three. Bah. I think I'd have preferred a single slice of pointy bread, something satisfying like a good sourdough!

MotherOfDragonite · 06/03/2020 21:52

I am still within my points, but used up some weekly ones. I like to save the weekly points for actual treats, whereas this just felt like wasting them on my regular meals (which I didn't even enjoy that much).

I didn't drink enough water, but maybe improved my intake a little bit.

And I walked 16,000 steps, which is more than usual, as I had a medical appointment to get a breast pain checked out (yay, there is nothing to worry about).

cricketmum84 · 06/03/2020 22:44

@MotherOfDragonite the ww wholemeal is much nicer than the ww danish style. I know what you mean though, I'd rather just have a slice of normal wholemeal! Glad the appointment went well and that there was nothing to be concerned about.

Morning from Asia. I'm 65.3 kg today so had a little whoosh. Partly I suspect due to feeling ill and having less appetite. I haven't been able to exercise though either so would like to do some later today even if I can only manage a couple of laps of the pool. I am actually already at my target weight, but I still look flabby and I think I look heavier than I am. My boobs are still humungous though - not one ounce has come of those despite my wishful thinking!

Egghead68 · 07/03/2020 07:04

Morning. 63.4kg.

Congratulations on reaching your target weight @ploughingthrough! Hope you feel better soon.

cricketmum84 · 07/03/2020 07:54

Morning my lovelies! Had a huge woosh overnight and am down to 18st exactly this morning! (I got on the scales 4 times to make sure!)

That's a 4lb loss so far for March, and it also means I've now lost 100lbs!!!

So plan for today is:
B - lots of water
L - celery sticks and hummous
D - sweet potato katsu curry (the teenager is cooking again!)

Congratulations @ploughingthrough for hitting target weight!! I'll take some boobs if you are giving them away??

Have a lovely Saturday everyone!

100lbs - that's fantastic @cricketmum84 and 4lbs so far this month is amazing! Are you marking the milestone in any way? Star apart from stars on MN

@ploughingthrough congrats on hitting target - that's brilliant. I hope you feel better soon.

DH has taken to hovering around me asking if I think my cough is a dry cough ...Hmm

Thanks for all the blender and whisk tips! I was going to get one today but don't want to panic people with my cough. I might send DH instead.

My weight has stayed the same.

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 07/03/2020 08:51

Congratulations Cricketmum, that’s awesome! 4lbs this month is amazing; and 100lbs overall is definitely worth celebrating.

And congratulations for hitting target, ploughingthrough!

I hope the cough clears up soon JessJonesJumps, I’m trying to get rid of the last of mine, it’s taking ages!

Egghead68 · 07/03/2020 09:18

Woohoo @cricketmum84 StarStarStar

MotherOfDragonite · 07/03/2020 09:20

What a morning!

A massive congrats to you @ploughingthrough on hitting your target! I am so very far away from anything like that, but my slimmer friends swear by toning exercise for "firming up" - yoga, tai chi, swimming?

A huge well done to you, @cricketmum84, for hitting such an incredible milestone! 4 lb already this month?!! Yikes, I've got some catching up to do... Grin

Even I had a mini-whoosh this morning, and am feeling positive about the progress I'm making this week (although official weigh in is on Wednesday). I'm going to stick with it.

I have no plan today, although I do have a glut of sweet potatoes and a desire for something treat-like as it's the weekend...

cricketmum84 · 07/03/2020 09:33

Thank you for the ⭐️! I'm definitely collecting them today! I'm going to celebrate with a cold lager and some bacon fries while I watch some rugby this afternoon! And may have a small portion of rice tonight. Rock and roll 😂😂😂

Love a little whoosh @MotherOfDragonite!

My goodness, @cricketmum84, that really is sticking power. 100 lb. Gives me hope that all the little weekly losses really do add up to something impressive!

cricketmum84 · 07/03/2020 09:40

They really do. 100lbs in 14 months is 7.14lbs per month! Some months I've lost more and some months I've lost less but I'm definitely on track for 12 stone loss in 2 years.

OP posts:
recklessgran · 07/03/2020 09:43

Morning all. @CricketMum84 that is bloody brilliant. Well done! You must feel so good today and that applies to you too @ploughingthrough hope you're going to stick around to let us know how to maintain for when we all get there as we surely will with the help of this great thread!
@Tryingtwo it's very difficult isn't it? DM hasn't taken to any excessive behaviours yet as far as I know but seems a bit relunctant about hugs. I'm out shopping this morning to get her properly stocked up so that she'll be O.K. until we get back. [I'm one of 4 but none of the others will help her - let's just say she's difficult.] She does have a lovely carer who comes twice a week for a couple of hours and takes her out and about so I'm confident she will help her if need be.
@MotherofDragonite I'm glad your appointment was O.K. and you sound like you've really got this now. About the desk - problem is that if I raised it [or lowered my chair] I wouldn't be able to access the keyboard at the right height for typing if you see what I mean. Never mind. I think I'm going to give it to DM who funnily enough said she would like an exercise bike as she's "losing muscle".
@Egghead68 and @JessJonesJumps I really hope you both feel better soon and that goes for anyone else I've missed who is suffering.
Busy day for me today. Food shopping this morning, massive pre holiday house clean [as you do] and then need to start packing. Yippee!

ploughingthrough · 07/03/2020 09:49

Thank you everyone and bloody hell @cricketmum84 that is so brilliant you must feel amazing. 100lb think how much you have improved your health. Haha if I could give some of my boobs away I surely would. Now I have reached my target I think I'm going to add a couple more kg to get down to 10 stone exactly. So I'm staying with you and I hope another couple of kilos will give me a bit of boob shrinkage (DH hoping this will not happen 😂)

cricketmum84 · 07/03/2020 09:50

Ooh where are you going @recklessgran? I SO need a holiday!

OP posts:
Onesmallstep67 · 07/03/2020 10:14

Fantastic achievement @cricketmum84, you must be absolutely thrilled. Star
And well done everyone who is also sticking with it and seeing losses.
Flowers for those feeling under the weather. Not nice and very draining.
I have had a totally rubbish week. I am a bit worried that I have hit a wall and lost my focus. My mind is mostly willing but my body is weak and willpower non existent.
I am 15st 6lbs this morning which is +2 for March, compounded by no loss in February. I just need to have a couple of days back on it and force my body through a sugar detox as that's all I seem to be craving.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone, especially @recklessgran with the birthday shenanigans.

recklessgran · 07/03/2020 10:26

@CricketMum84 we're going to Gran Canaria for a week. To cut a long story short, I had a serious health problem a couple of years ago and amongst the investigations it turned out that my Vit D. was so low that I needed a prescribed course of weekly ampoules to sort it out. My lovely consultant told DH that he needed to get me in the sun every 3 months to stop that happening again. DH loves "rules" so ever since then he's done as he was advised and booked a holiday for us every 12 weeks. Obviously it's a costly exercise so we normally go to the Canaries in the winter as it's the cheapest place for winter sun. I'm a bit of a home bird really but I must say I'm not complainig! I do feel a bit worried about gaining weight but I'm hoping to stick to the Keto way of eating and we will be doing a lot of walking I think.

GetTheStartyParted · 07/03/2020 10:52

I love reading all these achievements, hitting target weight, 100lb loss and even the small successes. It helps me to see I will get there!

My lovely DH now makes me bacon and eggs every weekends for brunch so I only have to decide what evening meal we will have. Today's is turkey in a cream cheese sauce with crispy capers.

DH and DS are off to watch football this afternoon, may prove a challenge for him to avoid the food and drink there.

Enjoy your holiday @recklessgran

Ecci · 07/03/2020 11:18

@cricketmum84 What a fantastic achievement, so pleased for you. Star I appear to be still on my plateau, but you're keeping me going. I remember when you were about 19 stone and stuck for ages, but you didn't give up, so neither will I. Weighing in tomorrow so fingers crossed.....

cricketmum84 · 07/03/2020 12:49

Fingers crossed @Ecci! Yes I remember that well... I just kept losing and gaining the same 2lbs for about 6 weeks! It's so frustrating but you will get moving again I promise!

@recklessgran ah have a lovely time. I would kill to be laying by a pool right now! I had to have the vitamin D ampoules a couple of years ago too... I may tell my DH what your lovely consultant said!!

I'm sorry it's been a rubbish week @Onesmallstep67. Yes a sugar detox sounds sensible! I'm currently fighting a serious pastry craving!! I miss my vegan rolls so much...

Tryingtwo · 07/03/2020 13:04

Good morning all. That's brilliant cricketmum84 Star I bet you are chuffed to bits.
Another 0.4 down today - no whoosh for me Smile

MotherOfDragonite · 07/03/2020 15:33

You know, if I really do manage to lose 7lb a month, I could get to where I want to be by the end of the year. Aaaaaah!!!!

(My target is actually in the overweight range, so conceivably I could lose more than that, but I wanted to set myself a realistic target that I would be happy with and where I know my body has been 'happy' at in the past).
