cricketmum84 · 29/02/2020 12:03

Hello everyone and welcome to the March edition! The plan is to lose 7lbs or 3kg this month!

All are welcome whether you are a regular, newbie, lurker, returning member... all I ask for is the amazing positivity and encouragement I have seen on every thread so far. You guys have been incredible!

I am following ww blue plan and very low carbing. There's a good mix of different methods on here though :)

Previous thread here is anyone wants to look back: Lose 7lbs/3kg per month! The February edition! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3810787-lose-7lbs-3kg-per-month-the-february-edition

My stats are:
Starting weight (Dec 18) 25st 2lbs
Current weight: 18st 4lbs
Loss so far: 6st 12lbs
Loss for Feb: 6lbs (just missed target 😢)
Target for March: 10lbs so 17st 8lbs

We can do this people!!! Who's with me???

It's hard keeping the weight off with self isolation. You just want comfort foods. Stay strong everyone

cricketmum84 · 20/03/2020 21:25

What a day! Trying to get through my absolute busiest days of the month with a DH working from home who needs to open the door and talk to me every half hour about his own work stuff when I'm desperately trying to complete mine, a 15 year old who constantly wants to show me crap on Instagram and a 10 year old who keeps bursting into tears over her birthday being ruined so I'm constantly having to console her in between getting her to do some school work. I am actually going to lose the plot pretty soon. In fact I think I almost have.

Oh and the company I work for is one of the ones who has to close 360 sites from midnight so I'm working most of the weekend while we find out how on Earth we organise payments.

Unsurprisingly no weight lost but happily no weight gain.

Off to pour a gin. Pretty much the only thing getting me through this entire sorry state of affairs.

Gin for you cricket I have run out of tonic and my Tesco delivery (which I've had ordered for a week) now has only a third of the items available which doesn't include tonic or any main meals DH can eat because of his allergies
I caved today and made a banana split. I really don't want to put back on everything I've lost but it's starting to look as though food choices are going to be made by availability rather than preference shortly.

ploughingthrough · 20/03/2020 23:10

Morning all. Hope you're all coping in these anxious times. I weighed in at 64.6kg today. Been trying to get down past 65kg for ages now so pleased to see it, although I have a habit of fluctuating between half a kilo for a while before settling on the lower weight. Been sleeping very badly this week as worried about family in the UK and wishing I could get home to see people. I've not done a lot of exercise at all, but still been good about the food. Trying to motivate myself to get out to the gym shortly

Onceuponatimethen · 21/03/2020 07:06

That’s a good loss @ploughingthrough - it’s great to get below one of the big numbers - gives you such a sense of achievement. I’m really sorry you are feeling worried but hope the gym helps

@JessJonesJumps a banana split sounds yum - hope it was delicious

@cricketmum84 yay for no gain - that’s good and hope the gin helped. I think it will be hardest while we settle to the crazy home isolation thing then later will start to feel like the new normal

Onceuponatimethen · 21/03/2020 07:10

Today’s plan for food:

Breakfast - grapefruit (my last one unless the food delivery turns up on Sunday!)

Lunch - two eggs, red pepper

Dinner - pasta with tomato sauce and broccoli (have to eat as pasta sauce going out of date). Will try to have a small portion of the pasta

GetTheStartyParted · 21/03/2020 08:39

@cricketmum84 Hope you enjoyed a well earned gin!
I think people have to do what suits them regarding diets at the moment, and what makes them feel best.

I've managed to stick to it this week, sad that I can't go swimming anymore, will have to find an alternative. Worst thing is how busy work is, so glad I'm part time (supermarket), I'm absolutely shattered! Hope my hard work is reflected on the scales on Monday Grin If I only lose 1lb again I might cry.

cricketmum84 · 21/03/2020 08:41

Morning all! Am working today waiting on finding out what we will be paying our staff and what amendments I'm going to have to make to my payroll that was almost finished... got lots of reading to do on the HMRC guidance that's been published.

Still coughing a lot today and feeling ropey. Little cat knows and has settled herself on my knee which she always does if I'm ill.

@ploughingthrough amazing :) I love breaking through a barrier!

I've got some carrots that are about to go a bit manky so am going to make a batch of carrot and ginger soup today and freeze in bags. Also some kale that I really need to Blanche and freeze. Am so very conscious of waste with all the crazy panic buying.

Not sure on what's for dinner tonight, I really need to do a freezer and fridge inventory and meal plan around that!

Hope everyone is healthy and safe!

Oh and meals today:
Brunch of bacon with cheesy eggs
Dinner of chicken tikka skewers with egg fried cauliflower rice.

goldenorbspider · 21/03/2020 08:48

I'm really late to this I'm down 3lbs, would like to knock another 2 off this week. My plan is to do a home work out with weights every day. Go on a walk. Cut out a few cups of tea for peppermint tea and no sweet stuff

beforeihit30 · 21/03/2020 11:31

Oh @cricketmum84 I figure you must have to crack on if you’re so busy and working the weekend too, but, with all that pressure and also being ill I can’t help but feel you need to rest! I appreciate it’s not always as simple as that. But I do hope you get some proper downtime Flowers

@JessJonesJumps every time I log onto my Tesco order, things have changed, it’s a new game I get to play of “guess what’s gone” Grin What’s annoying is sometimes it says ‘no longer available’ but sometimes items are just gone, and after some staring I go “Oh wait, there’s no cheese!” or whatever it is. But then sometimes it does come back in stock before delivery. I hope you can get as much as possible in your order.

We’ve been fortunate so far, but our diets are restricted so we’re not ordering much of the typically popular stuff, mainly meat and we’re happy to eat slow cook meats, organ meat etc which aren’t selling like the chicken is. DC1 and DC2 have SN and diet is restricted in terms of what they’ll actually willingly eat but at least again some of it is oddly specific and not being rushed as much as other things (cheese oatcakes are their top snack!). My main worry has been milk and eggs, as people seem to be clearing those out and we get through a lot each week, however we’re sorted for now thankfully.

I hope everyone else has enough food and can stay well nourished during the time, regardless of weight loss. It’s easy to stress eat, I’m an emotional eater, I saw a good image online which I should have saved but basically it was about focusing on what is in your control and not what isn’t. So focusing on your day, your wellbeing, taking care of yourself (from hand washing, to what you eat), reducing social media and news overload - rather than what might happen, what other people are or aren’t doing etc. I thought it was a good reminder.

I’ve had a good week however, I’ve lost 1.2lb since Sunday which is good especially as I’m not tracking. But I’m still on ABs until tomorrow which has forced me into a bit of a restricted pattern so we’ll see how I go when I’m “free”!

FraserBear · 21/03/2020 14:18

Hi Everyone! I’ve been reading these threads since I started back in June but I’ve never had the guts to actually join. Hope everyone’s coping ok in the present situation (and I’m not too late to join in!)

recklessgran · 21/03/2020 16:07

Hi @FraserBear of course you will be very welcome here! If you've been lurking I expect you know all about us by now. I'm on the Keto diet and so far have lost a stone and a half in 3 months. That's the most success I've ever had and I'm sure it's all down to @CricketMum84 and her crew here. I've also got an underactive thyroid which doesn't help with weight loss. I've got at least a stone to go yet and I 'm expecting to stay here for another 3 or 4 months. I'm in no hurry to leave - lovely bunch of people here.

FraserBear · 21/03/2020 16:45

Thanks! I started at 95kg Blush in June, lost about 18kg (at 5’3 that nearly puts me into overweight, not obese) - these threads have helped keep up the motivation so they’re worth their weight in gold!

GetTheStartyParted · 21/03/2020 17:20

That's amazing @FraserBear Star well done and welcome.

I only joined a few weeks ago. I started dieting at the end of January, also keto.
I enjoy the support of this group and the feeling of having to report my progress (or lack of) without being shamed!

lboogy · 21/03/2020 19:22

Welcome @FraserBear and congratulations on your weight loss.

So I'm down to 74kg today after 5 days on the cabbage soup diet. In 5 days only one measly kg loss. I gave up on it today and had Nando's and I'm going to finish off with a glass of wineWineor two Wink

Tomorrow is a fasting day. I'm going to get out for a run. Total weight loss this month is 2.4kg.

Onceuponatimethen · 21/03/2020 19:26

Wow @FraserBear that’s a great loss and welcome to the thread! You’ve prob skit seen I’m a newbie too

@Iboogy 2.4kg sounds great to me!

I’ve had a troublesome food day too. Dp made me an enormous baked potato with cheese and butter for lunch so it definitely wasn’t low cal.

I know the kids have some breakfast in bed planned and afternoon tea biscuits for me for Mother’s Day tomorrow so I will have to eat those Smile

I think Monday will have to be back on the dieting

Onceuponatimethen · 21/03/2020 19:26

@recklessgran I have a thyroid condition too so I know what you mean - I really don’t think it helps

recklessgran · 21/03/2020 20:44

@Onceuponatimethen it's so difficult to lose weight with an underactive thyroid isn't it? After a lot of research I decided to give Keto a try having battled with losing and gaining the same stone for the whole of last year. This Keto diet really suits me as I'm never hungry and really haven't had any trouble sticking to it. The problem is that I adored bread and toast and marmite in particular. It is clear now that I simply cannot eat bread. At all. Ever. Now I've got my head round that I think I'll just stick with this way of eating forever. It really does feel like a revelation to me. The caveat is that I'm older [64], have a very absorbing desk job and because of that and a fair amount of laziness I'm very inactive so have no business eating carbs at all!

FraserBear · 21/03/2020 20:52

@Iboogy well done on 2.4 kg! I’ve hardly lost anything this month Blush
Trying to make up for it in the next couple of weeks - better not do too much baking now that I’m at home!

beforeihit30 · 21/03/2020 21:58

Well done on losses Smile

Not exactly exercise but did some gardening (or, garden clearing!) today. It’s a very small garden, but it’s ours, and I want it to be welcoming for the warmer weather so we have some outside space to sit in. Felt good to be outside and productive! More to do but it was a good start.

JessJonesJumps · 21/03/2020 23:53

@beforeIhit30 I was up most of the night with a cough so I left DH to deal with the supermarket delivery. I have no clue what we ended up with and I'll probably only realise what's missing when I go to make something! There seems quite big regional variations. My friend can't get eggs but we can. I can't get tonic but she can admittedly eggs are more important than tonic 🙂 Good luck with your order!

Felt lousy today so just had a picky lunch - ham, brie, cherry tomatoes. Chilli for dinner. Snack of ice cream for my sore throat.

Welcome fraser and well done Iboogy !

lboogy · 22/03/2020 03:15

@JessJonesJumps hope your cough isn't more serious. Get plenty of rest

Onceuponatimethen · 22/03/2020 06:55

Get well soon @JessJonesJumps - hope family are looking after you and you aren’t too uncomfortable

Happy Mother’s Day everyone Flowers

I’m thinking to suspend diet for today and restart tomorrow Grin

recklessgran · 22/03/2020 08:48

Morning all and Happy Mothers Day! Obviously we have cancelled today and will celebrate MD some other time when it will be safe for us all to get together again. I'm pleased to report that my weight is slowly dropping and I'm managing to stick to my diet so far. We will be in total lockdown here from Wednesday evening with DD1 and possibly DD5 so not sure how long I'm going to be able to stick rigidly to Keto as that will depend on supplies of fresh veg etc.. Our local farm shop has suspended deliveries due to being overwhelmed.
Hope all those who are unwell get better soon. Keep safe everyone and KOKO.
