Hello everyone and welcome to the March edition! The plan is to lose 7lbs or 3kg this month!

All are welcome whether you are a regular, newbie, lurker, returning member... all I ask for is the amazing positivity and encouragement I have seen on every thread so far. You guys have been incredible!

I am following ww blue plan and very low carbing. There's a good mix of different methods on here though :)

Previous thread here is anyone wants to look back: Lose 7lbs/3kg per month! The February edition! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3810787-lose-7lbs-3kg-per-month-the-february-edition

Current weight: 18st 4lbs

Well done on hitting the one stone mark, @ValentineFizz!!

@SconNotScone Thank you for the recommendation, I will definitely check it out. I really need online stuff to keep me exercising as I'm losing 13k steps / around 1.5 hours worth of gentle exercise (but exercise!) every day.

Nice one @KedsAndTubeSocks! I am also comfort eating a bit. Think it might be a stress thing for me.

JessJonesJumps · 16/03/2020 14:11

I've not made banana bread for years.I might give it a try again with your recipe Mother
I'm up 0.2lbs since yesterday but I had a doughnut last night so it's to be expected. Spent the morning baking - apple pie and rhubarb cake. I ended up with a pile of stewed apples so had them for breakfast Smile
I'm planning on cheese salad for lunch. Then tuna and pea risotto for dinner.
Sorry to hear about all the illnesses and bugs. It's horrible that we're all scared of having cold symptoms now Flowers for all those suffering.

fractionated · 16/03/2020 16:19

Hi all, sorry I haven't been able to completely follow the thread but am sorry to see some of you are unwell. My weigh in this morning has gone well, another 3lb off! I might treat myself to a glass of wine this evening. Got to KOKO despite the scary news situation...

fractionated · 16/03/2020 16:20

Mmm the mention of risotto is making me so hungry!

fractionated · 16/03/2020 16:24

(I should say I am quite delighted as I am now out of the 12s and into the 11s 🙌🏼)

lboogy · 16/03/2020 20:05

Had a terrible weekend filled with eating quality street. I didn't step on the scales this morning because I forgot. Just as well. Anyway, I did just under 700 calories today. I gave into the sweet temptation and had 6 pieces of fudge. Otherwise it was fish and veg soup all day. I also went for a run since the weather was nice.

KedsAndTubeSocks · 16/03/2020 20:10

My jeans are feeling a bit tight again. Sad

SconNotScone · 16/03/2020 20:36

@MotherOfDragonite I’m keeping away from the gym from now on, so I will be joining you in doing some at home workouts! Thank you for the banana bread recipe, it looks great, I will definitely give it a try. It looks like it would be a nice treat breakfast with some berries or something!

JessJonesJumps · 16/03/2020 21:11

fractionated well done on getting to the 11s! That's brilliant! Star

beforeihit30 · 17/03/2020 07:14

Congrats @fractionated!

Try not to worry @KedsAndTubeSocks, you may just have bloating, but also if you do gain anything it won’t be everything in an instant, that takes time. You can keep on going and reach your goal. I always think that the saying “it’s a marathon, not a sprint” is really relevant with weight loss! It’s a journey that takes time and there are fluctuations and ups and downs, but keep on and you’ll get there Smile

My AB schedule is keeping me very much in check Hmm I can’t eat for a certain time before or after tablets and I take them 4x a day so this seems to be very effective in avoiding too much food! I’ve lost a bit which I wouldn’t normally expect due to TOM but unsurprising because of my narrow eating windows, so let’s see how that goes once I can eat normally. Still got all of this week left though, as I was given quite a long course of ABs.

cricketmum84 · 17/03/2020 08:40

Morning all! Well we are defo stuck in the house for the next 2 weeks following yesterday's announcements. I'm still struggling with sore throat and cough and DD very hot again. Added food issues of me being a bit disordered with eating when I don't have proper structure to my day.

Work announced office lockdown last night so will be working from home for 2 weeks at the very minimum.

Today's plan is:
L - asparagus and poached eggs
D - leftover cauliflower biryani
Going back to v low carb from tomorrow. I just feel like I will need rice today!
Also going to get out for a half hour walk at lunchtime and get some fresh air in me!

Feeling very stressed this morning!

Hang in there everyone. I am on lockdown by myself for at least 12 weeks more due to an underlying condition. I’m taking a break from trying to lose weight while I adjust but I’ll check in occasionally and hope to get back to it. Stay safe losers!

KedsAndTubeSocks · 17/03/2020 10:12

We're staying home for 2 weeks as we have a cold. Not sure DH will make it. Wink

Good morning all, congrats to ValentineFizz and fractionated - great progress Smile
Yesterday's gain has gone and I'm hoping for a loss today ahead of tomorrow's weigh in.

JessJonesJumps · 17/03/2020 11:43

Loving the pics Grin
We're self-isolating too. We kept DC home yesterday. His friends called last night to say someone was sent home from school with symptoms yesterday. tbh I'm a bit confused how that will work. Orginally school said they'd close for a deep clean if anyone was infected but now no-one can get tested so how will they know if a pupil has it? Confused
Weight slightly down this morning and I've lost 2 inches off my chest this month so far. Typical! I'd much rather lose it from my hips.

recklessgran · 17/03/2020 12:43

Hi all. Just checking back in after returning from Gran Canaria late last night. Blimey, it's all been happening here hasn't it? I will read back the thread but it goes without saying that I hope everyone is O.K. and keeping safe. I've spoken to DD4 [junior doc] who tells me her hospital is filling up with coronavirus victims and they have run out of proper masks so staff aren't properly protected. I find that really worrying. DH has gone to the supermarket for supplies so we shall see what he manages to find there.
In terms of weight loss I gained 0.75lbs whilst on holiday which I am very pleased with especially as I had a day off from Keto where I ate absolute rubbish - hot dog and chips and a massive chocmint sundae plus there were a couple of days where I had a piece of cake. Otherwise I was very good I think but will have to work hard if I want to reach my goal of 12st 7lbs by the end of March. I was 12st 11.25lbs when I left and am 12st 12lbs now. I have 2 weeks to lose 5lbs and being realistic think this is unlikely as my weight loss has slowed right down now.
Will catch up properly later once I've read the thread.

MotherOfDragonite · 17/03/2020 14:11

@fractionated Well done, that's a fantastic result! You must be delighted to be in the 11s, it makes such a difference psychologically somehow when one goes down to the next number.

@recklessgran I have heard the same from friends in hospitals re lack of appropriate PPE. It is a scary, scary time. There is quite a lot of publicity around it now and I hope that will lead to action. Please tell your DD4 that we are all so proud of her and her colleagues and thankful for all that they are doing.

@JessJonesJumps they won't know that anyone has had it and therefore they won't be able to deep clean or contact trace. It is utter madness that they aren't testing, and goes against WHO advice. I think this lack of action is a hangover from their previous strategy of actually wanting a certain percentage of the population to get infected.

@Egghead68 Maybe you could stay around on here just to say hi, or with an aim like keeping yourself accountable, or staying at the same weight? My weight loss is also feeling a bit derailed, I have to say.

@cricketmum84 Your meals sound wonderful yet again! I am also going to try to reduce carbs as it is a recipe for disaster now my exercise has been cut down so much.

MotherOfDragonite · 17/03/2020 14:13

All I can say is that I had a bad day yesterday. A 70pp day, if you know Weight Watchers smartpoints. Stress, I think. I comfort ate. On the plus side, I stopped a long way before where I would have stopped previously. And I held myself accountable by logging it all on my WW account (which I also wouldn't have done).

I'm now -6 on my weekly points overall. Trying to decide whether to just leave it, or try to save 6 points from my dailies today.

B: Boiled egg on half a bagel with Tabasco sauce
L: low cal veg soup
D: who even knows, but possible curried vegetables
S: snacks are my downfall and I need to tackle this!

riverbat · 17/03/2020 14:30

Reached my first goal today - 77kg - which means I am no longer overweight according to BMI. But it feels a little hollow as I won't be doing any of the things I was losing weight for. Such as potentially TTC DC2 - by time this is over in 2 years will be too old. But also things like taking toddler DS swimming, as his lessons have been cancelled

Start - mid January 2020, 86kg
Today - 77kg
Loss to date - 9kg

beforeihit30 · 17/03/2020 14:59

Hey @Egghead68 we’ve just started isolation today too (underlying conditions/immunocompromised), we were already ‘rigorously social distancing’ so after yesterday’s announcements didn’t feel we could continue without more drastic action. Flowers to you and focus on keeping happy and well Smile

Egghead68 · 17/03/2020 16:46

Flowers to you too @beforeIhit30. Good suggestion @MotherOfDragonite. I really don’t want to undo all my good work but I just want a bit of a break while I get used to being at home all the time (and doing a new highly stressful job role and battling with my work about pay etc). I made the mistake of buying chocolate mini rolls, mini eggs, ice-cream and tiramisu and have been hitting them hard! Must make sure next online shop has no temptations.
Thoughts with everyone isolating, worried about relatives or otherwise affected by the coronavirus.

MotherOfDragonite · 18/03/2020 08:37

I had my official weigh in this morning. As suspected, a bit of my 'whoosh' is now gone! But I have lost 2lb for the week (maybe 2.25 if I am being generous). So my stats so far are:

Loss this week: -2lb
Total weight lost so far: -18lb
Still to go: 54.5lb

The coming months are going to be so challenging in so many ways. Including for my weight loss! I promise to keep trying, but I also promise to be gentle with myself. I am definitely going to keep on checking in here.

SconNotScone · 18/03/2020 09:15

Well done to those who have had a loss over the past few days. And let’s be kind to ourselves if we haven’t! I’m not sure what my weigh-in will look like this Friday. After deciding it’s no longer wise to go to the gym, I had a bit of a “sod it” mentality yesterday and ate a load of junk. Also didn’t do my planned at home workout, whereas I would have quite happily gone off to the gym. It’s funny, I would think I would be less motivated to leave the house and drive to the gym, but actually I am going to struggle to motivate myself to do it at home!
Today is a new day, I got up and put my exercise gear on, so now I’m back from the school run I can just switch on the TV and get a pop sugar video over and done with!

Breakfast was porridge with some honey
Lunch will be picky bits - carrot, houmus, light babybel, a bit of ham and a few plain crackers)
Dinner - not certain, but probably something made out of mince!

Tryingtwo · 18/03/2020 09:48

Good morning all, congrats on being in the healthy weight range riverbat
Weigh in this morning, I can't remember what I was last week but I'm down 3.6lbs for the month to 12st 6.8lbs. Need another 3.8lbs to hit my target for March.

Onesmallstep67 · 18/03/2020 09:49

Hi everyone. Still reading along and happy to hear some of us are maintaining their efforts ! I wouldn't say I have exactly fallen off the wagon but I have decided to not put any pressure on myself for a while. I think I needed a break from the daily accountability ( to myself ) about what I was eating and the sense of frustration if my efforts didn't see results on the scales. I am currently 15st 7lbs and I don't intend to put any weight back on so fingers crossed.
To anyone who is feeling under the weather or concerned about the impact of CV on their health then sending my love and best wishes. I would like to think we will continue with the thread as I have found it to be so useful and full of lovely humans reaching out to each other in such a positive way. Flowers
