cricketmum84 · 29/02/2020 12:03

Hello everyone and welcome to the March edition! The plan is to lose 7lbs or 3kg this month!

All are welcome whether you are a regular, newbie, lurker, returning member... all I ask for is the amazing positivity and encouragement I have seen on every thread so far. You guys have been incredible!

I am following ww blue plan and very low carbing. There's a good mix of different methods on here though :)

Previous thread here is anyone wants to look back: Lose 7lbs/3kg per month! The February edition! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3810787-lose-7lbs-3kg-per-month-the-february-edition

My stats are:
Starting weight (Dec 18) 25st 2lbs
Current weight: 18st 4lbs
Loss so far: 6st 12lbs
Loss for Feb: 6lbs (just missed target 😢)

@JessJonesJumps, that’s a good loss - you must be pleased!

I’m not surprised you are very concerned about your dh as that sounds very hard. Sending you some Flowers

beforeihit30 · 13/03/2020 10:22

Hey @JessJonesJumps hope you can find something to calm the nerves Brew we are similar, I have an autoimmune condition (haven’t been worried for myself, probably should be!) but more focused on DH as he’s immunocompromised. But we have cancelled plans - didn’t have much planned, but not going to an event next weekend, nor to a baby story time thing I had booked, and we’re not going out in the day like we would normally do on occasion (eg to browse, to a cafe). Can’t avoid all activity but limiting it to what is necessary - it’s not just to not get it, but also to try and avoid contributing to the spread. However the school is taking it seriously with lots of disinfecting and hand washing etc so that’s something. Didn’t mean to go on a tangent there but some solidarity from over here! Flowers

Having plain yoghurt for breakfast today - which is actually eating something, yay! Still sore but so much better. But have to time meals around ABs so result is I have very specific windows for eating, which is interesting. Definitely can’t get snacky then! Grin

KedsAndTubeSocks · 13/03/2020 10:30

I'm probably pulling my 2 out of school after today. Unfortunately, DH takes public transport to work so it's fairly likely he'll bring it home sooner or later. He's NHS staff and wouldn't consider not going in until it's unavoidable.
I'm most worried about elderly father. This virus will kill him due to various health conditions. He's not keen on staying home though. Thinks he's immortal, stupid b@$t@πd!

cricketmum84 · 13/03/2020 10:56

We have just had someone sent home with corona symptoms so am feeling a little nervous. Both my mum and father in law have serious lung issues so nobody would be able to have our kids.

JessJonesJumps · 13/03/2020 12:37

Once and Before thank you for the Flowers
Before yy we've cancelled tickets for concerts etc. DH has a work event tomorrow that he can't miss but he is going to limit his time there as much as possible. From that point on, we don't have any large gatherings.
Flowers to everyone worrying about elderly parents too. We cancelled a holiday we had booked with DM because she is in her 80s and has underlying conditions (don't they all by that age?!).
I'm usually fairly pragmatic but this has all really thrown me for some reason ...
Anyway, back from GP. My cholesterol is a little high so they did the heart questionnaire. That score was fine. They didn't weigh me but gave me a diet sheet and sent me home! Grin

KedsAndTubeSocks · 13/03/2020 13:27

Oh I don't wait to be asked - I just jump on their scales whenever I'm in - I think they are more likely to be accurate than mine! Glad it wasn't anything too serious.

JessJonesJumps · 13/03/2020 15:51

Keds I should have done that! I'm sure they're more accurate than mine too. I was actually looking forward to finding out what the difference was between their scales and mine.

GetTheStartyParted · 13/03/2020 19:31

Flowers so much worry and so many changed plans. I'm hoping it's enough to curtail it. DS is supposed to go to Andorra in 2 weeks. School haven't cancelled it yet but I've told him that it's very unlikely he will go.

Diet is going well still here, had to plan the food shop in advance as the supermarkets are in chaos and my usual delivery slot was not available nor the 3 days around it

I can understand people getting prepared but this is something else! I hope you're all keeping ok.

beforeihit30 · 13/03/2020 21:13

Totally @GetTheStartyParted I get a shop delivered every Friday, I book the following week after each delivery, but today every slot between now and next Friday is gone! Managed to get Saturday morning and had to reserve the following week in advance, to avoid not getting one at all, we have no car and can’t carry everything home. I was asking DH, “Why so many slots though?! Are people ordering more frequently? Have they converted from in store to online? What is it?!”, it’s not like everyone is going to eat 5x as much in the next fortnight!

I’ll stop talking about this now, before I get pointed to the coronavirus topic Grin

Managed some mince and omelette earlier, and just having some chocolate whipped cream now (just double cream and cocoa powder). Still lots of resting but ate more today so that’s good, and although super sedentary at least I’m not gaining because I’m not eating much either! Not sure if that’s to be celebrated but one has to find the silver linings Grin

GetTheStartyParted · 13/03/2020 22:09

Glad you're recovering. Tonsillitis is horrible.

Egghead68 · 14/03/2020 06:48

63.9-64.7kg today depending on where I put the scales in the room.

I think it’s almost inevitable I’m going to gain weight at the moment. There are, of course, much bigger things to worry about. I have to remind myself though that my chances of surviving corona (I am in a high risk group) are probably higher if I try to stay slim and fit. It just takes superhuman self-discipline when you are stuck at home.

cricketmum84 · 14/03/2020 08:02

Morning all. Crept down a pound this morning so am officially -1lb for the whole of March grr.

Also unsure if I should be self isolating. My throat is still sore and the cough has returned but it's difficult to know if it's just lingering on from when I was ill last week or if it's something I should be concerned about!

Plan for today is:
B - plenty of water, maybe a banana
L - a treat! Chopped avocado topped with lime juice, pink salt, black pepper and chilli
D - LM burger, no bun, plenty of salad

NO WINE!

Had about 4 hours sleep but I suppose I should get out of bed and find out what fate has befallen the world today...

Ihatesundays · 14/03/2020 08:52

Another 0.1kg off. 69.2kg.

JessJonesJumps · 14/03/2020 10:54

I wonder if we should ration checking the news. I think it's harming me more than carbs atm Grin
cricket it's so difficult to know what to do. I think lots of us have colds regularly so it feels impossible to judge.
Between being busy, panicking, and being off crisps for Lent, I seem to be down 0.6lbs today.
I actually had to stop and think hard to remember what I had eaten yesterday - smoked salmon and stilton salad for lunch; small portion of chicken patia for dinner. No snacks as I'd ran out of rice cakes and berries.
I think today may involve making apple pie and drinking gin.

KedsAndTubeSocks · 14/03/2020 11:28

Oh flip. I really cannot resist hot cross buns. They are my downfall.
Friends coming over for dinner tonight, so doing roast venison, fondant potatoes etc. She will bring dessert. Doubt it will be low-calorie. Grin

SconNotScone · 14/03/2020 11:30

I ate two hot cross buns in a row yesterday @KedsAndTubeSocks - after feeling quite smug that my sugar cravings have almost been curbed! Bloody enjoyed them though, to be fair!

KedsAndTubeSocks · 14/03/2020 11:35

Only 2 Scon? Sad

SconNotScone · 14/03/2020 11:57

Oh 😬 tomorrow is a new day!!!

MotherOfDragonite · 14/03/2020 13:28

So, my weird and undeserved downwards whoosh seems to have actually stuck around. It looks as if I will lose a bit of weight again this week, which is fantastic.

Maybe it was because I was walking more as avoiding buses? Roughly 13k steps a day.

It's going to be very hard to maintain my weight loss while staying stuck inside with the kids! We are here for the next 3 weeks, although in all honesty (we are in central London) it could go on for longer. I'm worried about my job, but hoping my organisation will seriously consider my request to change how I work.

I discovered an amazing treat -- mango icecream mochi. I can eat one for 3 pp. Very pleased with that discovery (and damn the expense! They are ridiculously over-priced at £4.50 for six...).

MotherOfDragonite · 14/03/2020 13:30

@SconNotScone I did that last week! I love a good hot cross bun. The Waitrose Essentials ones are a little lower cal at 6pp for one. Thankfully managed to recover and get back on the wagon as they WERE awfully nice and it was hard to stop Grin

Onceuponatimethen · 14/03/2020 13:58

B - scrambled eggs and fruit
L - very light- just grapefruit
D - having family for dinner so will be spag Bol and green veg

I weighed myself and I’m the same as last week. I’m really pleased I haven’t gained, though, as there has been a lot of social stuff this week.

Dh has also plateaued and isn’t losing anything this week. He is still 89 kg and likely to have been pre diabetic when we started all this. He said he could do with losing another 4kg over the next month or so. I haven’t been crowding him so haven’t been asking too much about what he’s eating. He told me today he thinks he needs to stop all snacking and focus more on low cal eating rather than just small portions. Fingers crossed for him to get a bit more of a loss in March.

SconNotScone · 14/03/2020 14:45

@MotherOfDragonite they are just so tempting! Mine were Sainsbury’s bakery ones, and apparently they are the same calories as your Waitrose ones. Thankfully I like them popped in the microwave for a few seconds so they’re warm and squishy, and don’t add butter, so that helps!

ploughingthrough · 15/03/2020 00:09

Morning from Asia. Weighing in at 65.1kg this morning. Gives me a 2.5kg loss for the month so far. Hoping another 0.5kg is achievable as my loss has slowed right down. Felt a bit miserable yesterday- it's so great to have lost a decent amount of weight but man I have NOT stopped craving sugar (cake and chocolate) since I began and the willpower it has taken not to eat those things all this time is epic. Anyway Koko - it feels good to be in smaller clothes.

JessJonesJumps · 15/03/2020 09:22

A 2.5kg loss is amazing! Well done ploughing and congrats at being in smaller clothes!

MotherOfDragonite · 15/03/2020 09:22

Wow @ploughingthrough that's a huge amount, especially for only half way through the month! Well done!

So, as predicted, after less than 48 hours of self-isolation, my weight loss 'whoosh' has come to an abrupt halt... ha ha ha. I am going to have to start being careful about what I eat now that I'm getting so much less exercise!

The plan for today:

B: Boiled egg on half a bagel with Tabasco sauce
L: Vegetable soup
D: Baked sweet potato, salad with chickpeas and olives in it?
